Reviews for Hostellerie du Passeur

Review 1:Nothing to dislike - it was all tremendous

Review 2:From start (first greeting) to finish (when I drove away) a totally fabulous stay, great accommodation in a great spot - beautiful restaurant and best of all the staff - friendly, helpful, attentive!!!!! I will definitely stay here again!!!!

Review 3:Very central to a stunning area of france. Always wanted to stay here but never managed. Much easier when you can arrange via tablet. Booked further nights once we arrived. Excellent service from all the staff... even kept our bikes in secure garage.

Review 4:All the staff were most friendly and helpful. The food and wine in the restaurant for both lunch and dinner was always excellent. Free parking. Great location opposite La Mairie and next to the river.

Review 5:My only difficulty was with having to wait a really long time to be served. We ordered wine, and a good 20 min went by before it was brought. We had turned down an aperitif in favor of getting a bottle of wine, and it didn't come until after we were served our first course. Just a minor thing. Very friendly and attentive hosts, and otherwise the service was flawless. We really enjoyed our one night stay here.

Review 6:Loved the central location, charm of the house, dinner on the patio overlooking the Vezere River. Nice roomy room with excellent bed, nicely decorated. Wifi was easy to use (did not require you to re-login every time you leave the place). Food at the restaurant was beautifully presented and delicious.

Review 7:Handheld shower which made it tricky to shower (no hands free), breakfast was basic and poor value, no lift in hotel, limited free parking near hotel.

Review 8:Comfortable and clean facilities in the middle of town. Very quiet.

Review 9:Not one single bad thing to report.

Review 10:The position of the hotel in the heart of Les Eyzies-de-Tayac on the river Vezere; peace and quiet; the friendly staff; the wealth of interesting places to visit in the area - caves, castles, gardens, fabulous medieval villages, walks; lunch on the terrasse.

Review 11:Would have preferred a bath to a shower, but otherwise, everything was of a very good standard

Review 12:Perfect location in a beautiful village. Staff could not have been more helpful and went out of their way to accommodate the dog, fetching him a bowl of water immediately on our arrival

Review 13:Only booked for one night, but found the hotel so pleasant and convenient to the museum and caves, extended our stay. Loved the ambience of the hotel with it's charming lobby and lovely dining room. The desk clerk, Jerome, was extremely kind and helpful during our stay. The room was clean, comfortable and quite adequate with a nice view. Would like to return and have more time to enjoy the outdoor patio overlooking the park-like grounds along the river. The tourist information center is only a few doors away with cafes and shops only steps away. The village is small and goes to sleep quite early so it is very quiet. We used the hotel as a hub for our travels around the Dordogne area. Great place for solo traveler or couples. Room Tip: Didn't notice an elevator, but was helped with luggage by desk staff.

Review 14:Nothing negative during our stay.

Review 15:This hotel is located near the river and town square. It is a lovely hotel with very nicely decorated public rooms and restaurant. The breakfast buffet was splendid...very complete selection of meats, pastries, breads, cheese, cereals, yogurt, fruit, etc. The table settings are very pretty and the server was very pleasant. Staff were friendly and helpful. The location is very close to Lascaux and other sites...short driving distance. Parking was easily available in the public square with no charge from 6 p.m to 10 a.m. There are also limited (3) parking spaces by the hotel itself. The room was very clean and comfortable. Wifi reception was excellent and free. There is a park within 50 feet by the river. There is an on-site restaurant with a varied menu. Drinks are available throughout the day in the bar area or in the outside terrace. We would stay here again.

Review 16:No lift and wonky handrail on upper staircase.

Review 17:Great location in centre of village of Les Eyzies but right by River Vezere. View of rocky hillside from our room, illuminated all night and figure of prehistoric man (Cro Magnon) by museum, Good food in restaurant. Good bathroom

Review 18:room 1 window hard to open or close room very outdated very small room door almost impossible to lock and unlock shower over bath with no shower head holder

Review 19:location breakfast good restaurant food good

Review 20:The room was smaller than we expected and felt cramped. The decor was not to our our taste, with solid rather dark colours, although the bathroom was well presented. We asked for tea making facilities which didn't appear. We booked a table in the restaurent on our second night for 8.00pm and didn't see food untill 9.00pm. They were very busy but this was not acceptable.

Review 21:The hotel was located in a very good central position facing the village square rather than the road. The staff were very friendly and helpful Although not advertised there were parking spaces to be had behind the hotel, some of which were reserved for hotel guests- this mattered as in August the town is very crowded. The Wi fi worked well.

Review 22:Arrived on market day after a long drive and it was difficult getting near the hotel to unload.

Review 23:Pleasant location on the river.Good food .Staff very helpful.

Review 24:Very friendly staff and good value evening meal

Review 25:This hotel is comfortable and clean. Centrally located. Room had great view of cliff dwellings lit at night.

Review 26:The room in this quaint hotel suited us perfectly. So many interesting places to explore nearby. We'd definitely return.

Review 27:Beautiful setting, Fabulous food and extremely pleasant and helpful staff.

Review 28:rooms were very small and hotel was very busy and not enough staff

Review 29:it was very central

Review 30:Location excellent Staff helpful

Review 31:Opened the windows for fresh air and met a lot of wasps!

Review 32:Dinner was wonderful.

Review 33:Lovely location by the river. Very nice meal.

Review 34:No lift Limited variety of dishes in the menu of the restaurant

Review 35:Excellent service Nice big rooms Flexible staff to meet our needs Good location

Review 36:Norhing

Review 37:A very good hotel, ideally positioned to visit local and unique world heritage sites; excellent advice from very accommodating staff.

Review 38:Location, location, location! Traditional family 2 star hotel

Review 39:Nothing

Review 40:Wonderful dinners, staff with humour and charm of an individual family run hotel.

Review 41:Sure, room a bit on the small side and decoration generally a little tired but spotlessly clean. Would go back again and recommend to anyone

Review 42:Location, staff (all of them without exception), restaurant

Review 43:Nothing-all great!

Review 44:Very helpful staff and quaint room in gorgeous historical location. Help with parking then tips with dinner options. Perfect balance of service.

Review 45:Not all the staff matched the very high standards of the best. Wine list rather disappointing, and on the expensive side. The prices generally represented good rather than excellent VFM.

Review 46:Lovely riverside position in quiet square. Attractive terrace overlooking these. Warm and helpful welcome. Room spacious and comfortable, with good supporting facilities. Excellent dinners and good breakfasts.

Review 47:The breakfast was priced quite high, so I picked up bread, cheese and coffee on the main street.

Review 48:The staff was outstanding. They were welcoming and really impressed me by showing me to my room before 11:30 am the day of arrival. The room was comfortable and nicely decorated.

Review 49:Every thing about the hotel was lovely but we felt that 13 Euros for breakfast was a bit steep as the selection of food was the same as other hotels we've stayed at and paid 8-10 Euros.

Review 50:We were made to feel very welcome by all the staff. The man on reception was particularly helpful and sorted out a parking space for us. Our room was well furnished, and the bed comfortable with a modern, fully-equipped bathroom. The cold, buffet breakfast was good with as much to eat as you want. We ate dinner at the hotel's restaurant one evening and it was a real gourmet experience (at a commensurate price of course). The hotel has a great location close to the main street and National Museum of Prehistory

Review 51:The battery in the wardrobe safe ran out and we couldn't open it on the day we were leaving. The problem was resolved but maybe the batteries should be checked more frequently!

Review 52:The friendly welcome, convenient location, excellent food and good service, very comfortable.

Review 53:The cold buffet breakfast was not too great. It was sufficient but lacked a variety.

Review 54:We loved the accomodations of this hotel. The town was quaint with several shops and places to dine. There was also an open market down the road to buy fresh fruits and items. Peaceful setting along the river. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and spacious.

Review 55:The shower was hand held and there were no tea or coffee facilities in the room. (You could buy tea and coffee down stairs)

Review 56:The location was excellent in a picturesque village beside the river. The staff were friendly and some spoke English. The room was lovely. The bed was comfortable. Good free wifi.

Review 57:I found that the staff (not the junior staff serving at the table) wasfrankly pretty pretentious and full of themselves. The central heatingwas replaced\updated not long ago by some electric system that heats inthe winter and cools the room in the summer (great) so quite naturallynone of the radiators worked. The bathroom was really chilly on a rainyspring day and the staff at the desk looked chocked when I asked ifanything could be done about it: I was told to leave the door to thebathroom opened; fait enough if that hadn't implied looking at anold shower screen all evening as the bed was very close indeed from thebathroom door! Part of the shower fell off, there was no bracket in thewall to attache the shower head. We dined at Le Passeur in a nice enoughroom and there was the most wonderful open fire you could see. But Ireally have to complain when I sit down for what the hotel clearlyconsiders a sophisticated evening and the speaker in the ceiling playssome rubbishy music that sounds altogether far too much like what youhear in the local supermarket! You could have the nicest place in theworld! But not with that! I am afraid I included a poor comment oncleanness: I felt the carpet hadn't been hoovered thoroughly... Butthen I felt less surprised by it all when I saw in the morning that partof the job of the lovely girl who had served us at dinner and breakfastwas to clean the toilets by the reception. It seems to me the place isrun in a slightly "mean" way financially and thereforedoesn't provide what it thinks to is providing. I wouldn't gothere again.

Review 58:The location is great and the Passeur is the obvious choice for thosevisiting Les Eyzies: across the road from the Museum of Prehistory, facing the Vallee de la Vezere, it's a pretty hard to beat location.Maybe that's the problem...

Review 59:Great location short walk to town river and tourist information.Dramatic setting excellent food. Very helpful staff who spoke English. One of the few hotels that were happy to supply an iron!

Review 60:This hotel was an ideal location to explore the caves in the Vezere valley. It is extremely comfortable and the staff very friendly, helpful and speak good English. The food in the restaurant was excellent quality . There is car parking available behind the hotel, also. We spent 3 nights here and visited the Dordogne valley from here also. Highly recommend this hotel.

Review 61:We wish we could have stayed with this hotel longer. All the staff werevery kind and helpful. Our requests we had made when booking were allheard. The hotel is like a manor house, having a beautiful garden, withthe river behind. The room is not big,but cute.We could staycomfortably. We would like to say thank you to all the staff.

Review 62:Friendly helpful staff who are great. Our guide recommended the hotel. We would stay there the next time we are in the area and will recommend them to our travel agent and friends. Gene and Diane Gardella

Review 63:The Hotel is in the centre of the village and adjacent to the river.Although relatively small the Hotel was warm/welcoming and the staff arevery friendly. The food was excellent and the "waiting" staff very efficient. It exceeded expectations and was ideally located for our trip to the Dordogne. Cave painting sites, museams plus interesting towns and villages are all within easy reach.

Review 64:A friendly, formal, helpful staff made our stay a real delight. Everyone worked very hard and inconspicuously to be sure guests had a smooth and relaxing experience. The restaurant was excellent and elegant. The chef created delicious dishes that were a delight to both eye and palette. The room was comfortable, nice bed, great shower. The location is nice... off the road a bit and near the river. Quiet room. This makes a great base for exploring the town and the region, so rich in prehistoric sites.

Review 65:Staff were really helpful

Review 66:Rooms were rather small, and bath only had hand-held shower, which we find quite inadequate

Review 67:Staff very helpful and friendly

Review 68:Car park not available during the day.

Review 69:Convenient location for caves visit.

Review 70:nothing

Review 71:great location excellent restaurant

Review 72:Toilet in room was so small barely enough room to sit down

Review 73:Nice central location, some staff spoke English
