Reviews for The Black Horse Inn
Review 1:Rooms are close to the pub so you should expect noise but to compensate it's just a short walk to your room.
Review 2:Very friendly staff and the pub was in a great situation for local amenities the Warwick race course only 15mins walk away and other pubs are minutes away. Would stay there again breakfast was lovely.
Review 3:The room I had was tired and dated and very shabby. The bed I had was very squeaky and the toilet cistern was very noisy. The room also smelt of smoke and the wifi signal did not reach to room number 4. Also they were not serving food on a Sat night.
Review 4:The hotel was well placed for the centre of Warwick and the motorway. Only a short walk into town to get something for my evening meal.
Review 5:room was accessed via an outside flight of stairs: central heating not adequate and en-suite bathroom a bit shabby with an inadequate shower.
Review 6:Good staff interaction: clean and comfortable room:
Review 7:The evening staff were variable, one quite off hand. We were told food would be served in the evening between 7 and 8.30pm but apart from the Thursday night that turned out to be not true, thus on the Friday night we arrived expecting to order a meal and were told the kitchen was closed. The young woman was quite dismissive no sorry or anything. At 7.45 on a very windy night to be greeted in such a manner was unacceptable especially as we had been told otherwise..............
Review 8:I found the proprietors extremely pleasant, friendly and helpful. no complaints
Review 9:The room was very basic, and in need of new decor and paint, the plug socket on the wall was a little loose. Attention to detail.
Review 10:The location, the staff were helpful and friendly, the breakfast was good, plenty to eat if your hungry.
Review 11:Big wardrobes not enough room to walk around the bed area
Review 12:Good location, good nights sleep however the rooms had a lot of wardrobes which took up a lot of space which would make it easier to walk around the bed
Review 13:Couldn't access wardrobe in one of the two rooms booked (blocked by second bed). Wardrobe door in other room broken.
Review 14:Staff friendly and helpful. Beds comfortable. Good breakfast.
Review 15:Obviously room was a bit basic, wardrobe door was off. But it was clean and comfortable.
Review 16:Good location near to centre of Warwick. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Reasonable rate.
Review 17:Car park is a squeeze.
Review 18:I read some odd reviews before I stayed here. At £65 per night inc breakfast, I knew exactly what I was getting. It certainly did the job, and I would recommend to anyone. Also great wifi connection.
Review 19:Bad water pressure for shower but water hot. Breakfast 7:30 - 8:30, unfortunately we were ready for 9, the kitchen was firmly shut! Reception is inside the pub, doors locked, no access when we had questions. No phone number - goes to fax machine!
Review 20:There was a good sized t.v.. Bed linen fresh and the pillows were firm. Ours was a family room with its own front door which made it easy to come and go. Free parking, good location for Warwick Castle. We didn't eat so can't comment on food.
Review 21:Loud music all night until 6am! Initially from a live band but after 2 am I think it was from some nearby venue. Broken headboard to bed and just a trickle of hot water in the shower and none in the basin. TV controller didn't work very well.
Review 22:Friendly helpful staff, very good breakfast, cheap
Review 23:Bed and pillows weren't the comfiest but I still managed a reasonable nights sleep. Tried to arrive early and drop off bags (not check in, just drop bags) before heading out but place was locked up. Couldn't get in till 12. Didn't want to waste the morning so I took my bags with me for the whole day.
Review 24:Friendly staff and free breakfast. Loved having my own room and bathroom (am used to hostel life) even if it was a bit basic. Great location with a supermarket right across the road.
Review 25:room could be cleaner or redecorated carpet was a bit mucky
Review 26:no hassle booking in and paying ,good breakfast. plenty of parking and good central location
Review 27:I stayed in room 3. There was no bedside lamp or table; no proper curtains, letting in exterior light all night; the floor creaked at every step; the shower room was tiny, and had mold on the tiles; the electric shower alternately delivered scolding and freezing water with no happy medium; the general quality of the furniture and fittings was abysmal; the TV was falling off the wall. Breakfast was adequate, but nothing special; very little choice of beverages; cheap tea and coffee. Sixty. Five. Pounds. Really????????? I checked with several other guests, and they only paid £50 by booking directly. I would have grumbled at paying even that!
Review 28:Bed was comfortable. Nice flat-screen TV.
Review 29:Only issue was the parking, bit tight and we ended up being blocked in overnight which would not have been good if we had an emergency
Review 30:Ideal location for Warwick Castle, staff friendly, clean and quiet. Breakfast was a bit basic...no cereal, choice of fruit juice/cooked breakfast...fried egg only
Review 31:Definitely does not apply to our trip
Review 32:The staff are so friendly and good company nothing was too much trouble this was the second time we have stayed there and we are planning two further visits early next year.
Review 33:There was a hole in the ceiling where they have had a leak through the roof as i was in the attic.... The owner said she would pass it on i said but you are the owner !!!! the bed sheets havent been washed for days maybe weeks very musty smell in the room probably the bed sheets.... Breakfast finishes @ 8.30 i went down @ 8.25 Was told breakfast had finished A JOKE !!! I stay in hotels all over the world and this I would rate as the WORST Hotel ever in have stayed in...
Review 34:NOTHING !!!!
Review 35:its centrally located, within easy walking distance of the castle. Staff friendly, its clean and comfortable, and evening meals are very reasonably priced.
Review 36:Comfy bed, sheets and pillow. Free full english breakfast and free parking! Excellent value for money. AND we got 2 for 1 vouchers for Warwick Castle!
Review 37:Friendly staff, clean accomodation excellent breakfasts close to everything in Warwick, racecourse, castlr shops, town centre, plenty car parking space
Review 38:Very noisy until around 1.00AM so if you like early nights it is not recommended. Do not depend on Wi-FI. Unable to connect and that seems to be the norm.
Review 39:Good location for central Warwick and parking included.
Review 40:On arrival the first room given smelled musty and there was mould in the shower. Toilet seat was broken
Review 41:Location was good and staff were friendly and helpful The second room provided was clean and comfy
Review 42:Room was clean and comfortable. Lots of hot water for showers. Located close to Castle so we didn't need to use the car. Breakfast was very good, lots of food and prompt service.
Review 43:Only critism is that breakfast finished too early for us so didn't get breakfast either morning
Review 44:Loved that it was like its own little house separate from the pub. Friendly staff and clean! Would stay again
Review 45:I liked nothing about it.The room I had had a dirty carpet, the bed was too wide for the area so could not open the door properly to the bathroom. I overslept so went for breakfast about 8:40 to be told everyone had gone so I could not have any breakfast so had to go into town. The place was run by an Indian lady who locked up the Hotel and said she would be back at 11:00
Review 46:Rooms are rather shabby and in real need of a make over. Parking is way too small and nearby streets are all permit holders only. A little more info on where to park etc would be good. You could do a deal with Sainsbury across the road to let residents park over night. Even if it involved a fee.
Review 47:nice location, handy for many destinations.
Review 48:Pillows were abit hard and uncomfortable and the wardrobe was falling apart but that was all.
Review 49:Staff were very friendly, nice room. Breakfast was lovely.
Review 50:Frequent smokers seem to be outside in the courtyard which is not pleasant when walking back into your room. Also builders swearing frequently doesn't make a pleasant stay. Bathroom smelt of cigerette smoke.
Review 51:Staff were friendly, room clean.
Review 52:no loo roll, woke up to no breakfast. Breakfast room was abandonded with dirty tables. No staff there. Foreign woman - cleaner? passed on message that there was no staff or chef - all left earlier in morning I guess. look forward to refund.
Review 53:clean bed and room
Review 54:It was extremely noisy from people drinking and smoking out side, the room was very warm and had a musty smell to it but due to outside noise we could not have the windows open due to noise.
Review 55:It was lovely being in a building separate to the public house building.the building itself is a good use of facilities.
Review 56:Room was cramped with an extra bed. The room was meant to be for just a double bed, which would have worked better as the light switch and head board would be in easy reach. Shower was very cramped, knocked the tap as you turn around. General appearance of rooms quite shabby, poor decoration. Very little choice for vegetarians either for breakfast or evening meals
Review 57:Bar, and Food
Review 58:Room above were a bit noisy one night. Windows could be double glazed for bit more privacy and maybe a bit of light screening on window
Review 59:Very close to town. Quiet even though close to main road
Review 60:the room, the bed, although clean sheets were on, the mattress was stained and very lumpy, there was no dressing table or bed side tables,we didn't hang our clothes in the wardrobe. lack of electric sockets near the only existing mirror, which was above the basin in the bedroom. the toilet and shower were very compact
Review 61:the staff were pleasant, the evening meal was run of the mill
Review 62:Our only problem was that our room was right next to the back door of the pub - so all the noise from the raucous smokers coming out from the pub to sit and smoke kept our son awake til very late at night.
Review 63:The staff were absolutely lovely, very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was great and all cooked fresh, whatever you asked for. The location was fantastic for the Warwick Castle - only a 10 minute walk away.
Review 64:Nothing bad, but breakfast was a little early for me - 7 - 8.30am o a weekday. Just a tiny niggle but well worth getting up for!! :)
Review 65:Very comfortable and warm room, exceptionally close to town, wouldn't want to stay anywhere else! Staff are always friendly and chatty every time we stay and we hope to come back in future :)
Review 66:The room. Patches on ceiling where they had leak. Still wants repairing. Cobwebs around room. Mouldy dirty grout in shower. Access was dirty and foist u smell. Not nice for £65. Wouldn't go again
Review 67:carpet is dirty, hasn't seen a vacuum cleaner for ages. mould in the shower. Free WiFi is okay if there is some very weak signal, available in the middle of the room only.
Review 68:at the end of the day at least we could sleep in a bed, and not in the car. Good location, draught beer.
Review 69:Room was small, dirty, half the light bulbs were not working including the tiny shower room which meant showering in the dark. Toilet lid was loose. Double and one single bed squeezed into tiny room. No storage space for clothes etc. Whole hotel looks shabby and needs refurbishment. Parking is limited.
Review 70:Hotel is well situated for town centre and castle. Staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good.
Review 71:Wifi didn't reach the room, had to park in the street which had restrictions
Review 72:The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the location was good
Review 73:My room had a bright light directly outside the window. It was on all night and the blinds let in far too much light.
Review 74:Good atmosphere and friendly stafff
Review 75:First bedroom smelt, I asked for a change. 2nd room on main road, very basic. no sleep at all, opposite sainsburys and had night time deliveries, plus road closures and road works 6am, plus bad language.
Review 76:Not a lot
Review 77:The facilities are very basic. The breakfast left a strong greasy taste in the mouth. I will not be returning to the Black Horse.
Review 78:The location is convenient for Warwick town.
Review 79:It was on a noisy road and there is a street lamp directly outside our window which was old and not double glazed, and it was quite hot. The en-suite was small to say the least and parking could prove difficult.
Review 80:A short walk to the town centre and castle. the staff were friendly. An old building with some obvious history.
Review 81:Tv in room didn't work. Had to go and ask for a hairdryer. peeling paintwork on one bit of a wall, Shelf over sink in danger of falling off. Sink in bedroom, not in ensuite room. No shelf in shower for soap etc. (and no soap). Bedsheets may have been washed in Bio wash powder that my wife is allergic to.
Review 82:Ensuite shower was good. Bed was comfortable
Review 83:Breakfast was very poor quality . Cold baked beans , dry stale toast , generally poor food.
Review 84:Great location, clean and quiet room which was comfortable Free parking in tiny car park , need to arrive early for a space
Review 85:The facilities were very dated and tired. There were no facilities for babies. I tried to shut a window and felt like it was going to fall out. £85/room/nt was pretty steep for what you get.
Review 86:Historic / good location Beds were clean breakfast was nice.
Review 87:Rooms are small but adequate. Some fixings hanging from wall and decor very tired.
Review 88:Beds were comfy. Staff were brilliant and breakfast worth every penny!
Review 89:Car park small if all the rooms are full. No on street parking
Review 90:Staff very pleasant. Location is 10 minutes walk from Warwick Town Centre (but it is uphill, downhill coming back).
Review 91:the beds were too hard, neither of us slept because of it. The room was cramped, there was no bedside light, the toilet seat didn't fit properly. The wash basin wasn't in the en suite (which was very cramped) the decoration was poor
Review 92:the breakfast was hot
Review 93:The room was awful - the bathroom very very dirty - everything needed a good clean and an upgrade was absolutely necessary before anyone else stays there. I refused to take the room but because of the cancellation policy had to pay the full cost. This facility should NOT be on your listings.
Review 94:Absolutely Nothing.
Review 95:We had a very enjoyable stay in cosy room with good facilities. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the cooked breakfast was excellent. As the accommodation is part of the pub after a day out you can relax in a friendly atmosphere with the very friendly locals and staff with just a few steps out of the backdoor to your room.
Review 96:The room was sparse but it was cheap and entirely adequate for what I wanted/what I wanted to pay. All in all, I don't really have any complaints.
Review 97:I was only passing through Warwick for a night but I found the Black Horse Inn to be very accommodating and affordable. It was a Saturday night and there were a few people hanging around talking outside my door early in the evening but they soon moved on and during the night the Inn was incredibly quiet (amazing for a Saturday night!). The staff was also very responsive and served a great breakfast (where the cook would make you whatever you asked for). The experience was overall a pleasant one.
Review 98:Terrible pillows, uncontrollable shower temperature, no bedside table, only mirror was over the sink and nowhere near a power point for a hair dryer. Box room!
Review 99:Location, food, and low cost
Review 100:Maybe could be more accommodating with breakfast. My daughter asked if they do a fryed bread. It was a no etc etc. just thought I'd only take 2 secs to cook some. Sausages were very sweet. Beans weren't Heinz ( think this is me being very picky.)
Review 101:The location was great. Seems a really nice family run business.
Review 102:Rooms really hot. And need abit updating. Telly channels didn't all work. Need more plug sockets. Rubbish wifi. And more choice for breakfast fry up.
Review 103:Loved the location 5 minute walk to the castle. Staff are really friendly. Bed really comfy. Sheets and bedding were impeccable.
Review 104:The parking conditions where not good. You never knew if you could get your car out of the space in the morning because there is not enough space, so people park in front of each other.
Review 105:We liked the Ground floor Rooms where you can sit outside in the evenings. Friendly staff.
Review 106:The staff member who checked us in was rude and gave us the wrong time for breakfast. Breakfast needs to be longer than 1 hour. Only 1 plug socket for family room, needs at least one more. Lighting in bathroom was too dim.
Review 107:The pub was in a good location ad the rooms were of fair size.
Review 108:The car park was a nightmare and we had to park in the street. Breakfast time was miscommunicated, there is no information in the rooms, so we missed out. Chef had left, despite it being bang on 9am. The girl on that morning offered no alternative, not even toast, nor advice on where we could find something open on a Sunday. For the price they charge, we have stayed in much better, in better locations around England. The beds are not comfortable and the facilities are very basic.
Review 109:The girl on in the evening was lovely.
Review 110:Literally the only thing remotely negative, and it's not even that bad, is the shower system is quite old; other than that the place is lovely
Review 111:Great location Decent sized room and facilities
Review 112:Only grumble was breakfast was 7.00 to 8.30 on a Saturday, too early
Review 113:Staff very friendly and the rooms were perfect and clean. Location 5 mins from center.
Review 114:Breakfast very basic and only served for 1 hour, then long waits for breakfast because b&b was fully booked when we stayed there.
Review 115:Location good and off street parking
Review 116:Room is somewhat worn down. Very basic, some basics missing, like coat-hanger to hang up a shirt, or shampoo for the shower.
Review 117:Location is nice, room was clean. Good cooked breakfast
Review 118:This place is basic but for the rates they charge why would you expect the ritz?
Review 119:Close to town centre, friendly staff and locals, basic but clean room and cooked breakfast.
Review 120:Breakfast was only 1 hour 7.30-8.30 if you are not up in time you miss it which is unfortunate as its a b&b and you would expect breakfast
Review 121:Location
Review 122:On a Friday morning pub was locked up at 0850 when my two young sons and I went to breakfast. Finally a cleaner arrived who told us breakfast had to be by 0830 also stated it was on the booking website, which it isn't, except in another review by someone who didn't get breakfast. Room could have bedside light as couldn't read in bed without waking children. Worst of all on check in I saw that my credit card details were written in the open diary for all to see.
Review 123:The check in was easy, the room was ok but basic.
Review 124:No one told us that breakfast was only served until 9am Sunday am, we arrived at 0910 and was refused breakfast and would not even do us a cup of tea.
Review 125:Location, bar was good value for money and friendly bar staff
Review 126:We couldnt leave in the morning as no-one was there!!!! We needed to go as we had somewhere else to be, so in the end we paid by the card I booked with but this was not how I wanted to pay!!!! A real let down so I wouldnt stay again. If they want to run a B&B surely they need the staff on site to do so, Or just be a pub!!!!!
Review 127:The rooms were away from the pub, really good size rooms.
Review 128:Rooms could do with updating, bed was noisy every time I moved. Was a bit noisy on our last night due to a lot of builders staying but they soon quietened down so didn't disrupt my sleep too much.
Review 129:Location was fine to where we had to go. Fresh clean towels every day which was nice - and food on site was value for money.
Review 130:Breakfast toast was never done properly always half browned. Scruffy entrance with builders scaffolding in car park. Dated decor in room.
Review 131:Good location for Warwick and castle, all within walking distance. Nice clean sheets and lovely white towels Friendly smiling staff.
Review 132:Very much a locals` pub, accosted by a drunk in the bar at 5pm trying to break dance. Heating only on timed, one hand towel between two, cold water a trickle. Chose the "Inn" as it promised parking no room in the car park, nearest public parking limited to 2 hours, therefore had to park in a town centre car park and walk back. Although we were the only two in the breakfast room still managed to get my order wrong.
Review 133:Good location, friendly staff
Review 134:All the staff were extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome! The location was perfect, easy to get to Warwick castle. The room was small but cosy and clean.
Review 135:run down rooms, ants, lack of storage space, bed up against wall (climbing in and out through night), bed uncomfortable, breakfast early and basic, noise in rooms from people outside the pub.
Review 136:Room very hot wasn't able to adjust the heating. Room superficially clean but a lot dirt and dust around the edge of the room particularly round the beds.
Review 137:Staff friendly and helpful
Review 138:Cold tap was just a dribble.
Review 139:The staff were superb with regards to attitude. They were outstanding with welcoming our beagle too. Loved the atmosphere created in an informal setting. Thank you.
Review 140:Car park is like a builders yard. The door into the pub had bags of cement and a dirty towel as your first impression Tidy up for a better first impression
Review 141:Friendly people
