Reviews for Hotel Arena
Review 1:Great value accommodation, ideal location, 5 minute drive into centre for good selection of restaurants. Excellent Vet nearby who is part of the pet passport scheme.
Review 2:Nothing really.
Review 3:Great location, just off the auto route on journey south to Portugal. Dog friendly. Clean and tidy hotel. Decent breakfast. You can walk to the beach in under 15 minutes.
Review 4:bath gel given was only enough for a small child. few other room facilities, no iron, no tea/coffee facilities or coolbox
Review 5:cleanliness and comfort of the room
Review 6:We were advised to go to the restaurant behind, which we did, but they said they had no tables even though they clearly did! Very disappointed as the restaurant was very convenient and looked like good food.
Review 7:Modern and very clean!
Review 8:nothing really
Review 9:On our way back from Spain, so this was a stop-over. Convenient for the motorway and ample parking and only 4 km from St Jean de Luz for evening meal overlooking the sea. The room was a little cell-like....felt like we'd been banged up!...but air conditioned, sound proofed, so no complaints really. The breakfast was straightforward but ample.
Review 10:Poor acoustic insulation of room. Noise from elevator all night and could hear the trucks on the highway. Coffee from the machine was desgusting
Review 11:Very convenient stopover when travelling by car: ample parking, close to highway and budget gas stations Nice restaurants and beach nearby
Review 12:Nothing not to like
Review 13:Easy to find - sound-proofed rooms - comfortable - buffet breakfast fine, though a little restricted in choice (such as no fresh fruit as similar hotels provide
Review 14:Location - quite tricky to get to and a bit in the middle of nowhere
Review 15:Clean, modern, friendly, flexible Able to get to the room even when reception closed Breakfast better than expected, although coffee not great
Review 16:Always really friendly and no problem allowing dogs too. Cliff top walk nearby and supermarket just short drive away to stack up on provisions for travelling Breakfast was nice too Secure free parking
Review 17:No bar facilities
Review 18:Well positioned for visiting attractions. Spotlessly clean and very pleasant staff, multi lingual receptionist, good breakfast and free wi.fi in rooms , ample safe parking.
Review 19:We booked over booking.com thinking that we will get the best price. We paid 76 Euros. As we arrived we saw the price was 62 Euros. We then asked the lady if we can have the room at the reduced price on which she replied that it can not be done because we booked over booking.com!! Very disappointing...
Review 20:The GPS took us past the hotel rather than to it. We have no negative comments to make about the hotel. Some people may not like the fact it is not within walking distance of St Jean de Luz.
Review 21:The hotel appeared brand new. The staff were very friendly. The room was very comfortable.
Review 22:Family room good size We fit 5 in there with our little one on a blow up bed we brought with us. No extra charge for 5th person Family could sleep altogether
Review 23:For the price would have liked sitting chairs in the room in addition to the one desk chair. More pillows would have improved sitting on the bed watching TV.
Review 24:Ease of access from the Auto route. Walking distance to large supermarket via road and foot path in industrial estate. 15 minute walk to the nearest beach and small town with beach bar/s and Bistro open air and covered. Very upmarket restaurant next to hotel and 15 minute walk away. All of the above only 3 minute drive with plenty of parking late afternoon and first thing in the morning.
Review 25:Arena met all our needs, but would not make a good venue for a family holiday.
Review 26:Excellently placed for a stopover when travelling, the center of St Jean de Luz can be easily accessed by car.
Review 27:The hotel is not located in Saint Jean de Luz, our TomTom couldn't even locate it in this town. In fact, it is 5 kilometers from the center of the town and you can't make just walking, because it's like walking along a highway. If you plan to visit the town, then you will need to pay a parking in the town, which we paid 16 euros for one afternoon. The windows of the room were very small and the room was dark. During breakfast, the staff had difficulties to understand even the most basic words in english, like hot water or sugar.
Review 28:Very professional staff at reception. Parking with large places, which is rare in France. Clean room.
Review 29:Nothing
Review 30:Ideally situated on our arrival in France from Santander. Close to Motorway but quiet & peaceful for our overnight stay. Welcoming receptionist on our late arrival. Plain but well presented breakfast in nice surroundings.

Review 37:Could do with tea/coffee making facility in the room.
Review 38:Good stop- over, close to main auto routes clean and comfortable.
Review 39:Excellent all round
Review 40:Beach is a bit of a downhill walk and abou 15 minutes away.
Review 41:Location

Review 47:the location, near the motorway and the local beach
Review 48:The price The location far away from The beach. Nô minibar
Review 49:Wifi in room did not work
Review 50:Good room and quite big for family
Review 51:The x military bed blanckets, the hairs on the bed, smell of wee in toilets, over priced.
Review 52:Close to the beach, right next to the boarder.
Review 53:What is says on the tin, convenient location, no frills, clean, friendly, secure and efficient, just what you need when travelling.
Review 54:A railway runs at the side of the hotel about 50M away but trains are not too frequent. No Restaurant

Review 56:Cold and functional but isolated and impersonal

Review 59:Bed hard, room soulless. No restaurants open nearby

Review 75:All good but took us some time to find d entrance
Review 76:breakfast was too "poor" for the price
Review 77:property and availability
Review 78:Friendliness
Review 79:The hotel was soul-less - no character. Also receptionist did not know much about trains and other facilities etc. Also difficult to enter hotel - no sign.
Review 80:Very clean - excellent parking facilities.
Review 81:There are no negative thoughts from us on this hotel and location.
Review 82:On arrival the receptionist was happy and helpful, greeted me with all the information necessary and made us feel very welcome. Arriving after a long drive, it was only a few minutes walk to the nearest restaurant and again, could not have been so well received. The lane from the Arena to the restaurant was dark but with the night sky so clear and all the stars and planets shining so brightly it was one of the most beautiful memories of our vacation. We were also treated to either a comet passing over or a meteorite burning out in the atmosphere that evening. This is an hotel to stay at for longer than one night, we will return in the future, only a short drive to Biarritz, if you wished to visit.
Review 83:Nowhere nearby to eat or drink.
Review 84:Very clean, comfortable, freshly decorated hotel. Much better than others of its type. Very quiet despite being close to the main road and railway. Polite and efficient staff.
Review 85:Reaching the hotel was a nightmare. We could see it on the left of the road but the sign to reach it was on the right and very small. The only restaurant nearby was closed in January
Review 86:Excellent insulation. Warm. Excellent shower
Review 87:The breakfast: very basic, all-carbs content, not tasty (but it's not included in the price, anyway). The signs for the hotel could have been more prominent because the hotel is not very easy to find (although we did well).
Review 88:The location: right next to the highway; very new, clean and quiet; free parking; friendly staff who explained how to get in after 9 p.m. when the reception closes; very good value for money for a stop-over hotel.
Review 89:You need to drive to St Jean de Luz, too far to walk.
Review 90:Quiet area close to highway. The kids loved the bunk beds. Friendly staff, very clean. We enjoyed the self-catered breakfast
Review 91:In a double room, why not TWO chairs? Bit uncomfortable for two "crocheties" to get comfortable! BUT overall, would recommend and go again.
Review 92:As ever, clean and functional. Secure parking and places to walk the dog.
Review 93:It's too far from the center of the city. There wasn't any possibility to do something outside your own room even no place to drink a cup of coffee.
Review 94:Very clean .
Review 95:Pillows on the bed were very uncomfortable.
Review 96:Receptionist very friendly and helpful. Asked for extra pillows and blankets and received them immediately.Rooms very clean and the beds extremely comfortable. Bathrooms although slightly small we're good. Handy for jean de luz by car and then motorway.
Review 97:Poor breakfast, one does not expect 'old' croisants in France! Not hard to spot, but very hard to get at!
Review 98:Comfortable, average 2 star travellers hotel
Review 99:Requires car to get to St. Jean de Luz. Check-in closes at 21:00. Train track nearby (only a worry if you're a really light sleeper)
Review 100:Clean, functional, close to the highway. Beaches and shopping within walking distance.
Review 101:The location was perfect for travelling between the various beaches along the coast between Urrugne and Biarritz. Ample parking. Comfortable and simple rooms
Review 102:Impossible to find! Gps could not locate the hotel. Not enough pillows
Review 103:Clean spacious room and bathroom. Friendly service. Newly decorated.Good décor. Nice breakfast. Quiet. Secure parking. Attractive building
Review 104:difficult to find entrance. you can see the hotel but you have to turn right, go under the road, to the street. this should be included in hotel details.
Review 105:good, sound-proffed rooms. could not hear any trains nor cars
Review 106:Isolated! Bit too far out from St Jean de Luz so not recommended for more than a stop-over en route to somewhere else! Take your own food (and beer!) if arriving late on a Sunday.
Review 107:Good, free parking. Friendly reception. Clean modern room. Dog friendly. Easy access to motorway to continue our journey.
Review 108:sterile decor
Review 109:inclusive car park
Review 110:Nothing.
Review 111:Convenient and ideal for my visits to St Jean de Lux
Review 112:Located too far from the town centre, no local places to eat and drink. Perhaps I should have undertaken more research before booking.
