Reviews for Glebe Hotel

Review 1:This hotel is rated as 3 star but it deserves one more.We were there yesterday for an overnight stay,as my daughter had an interview locally,so this location was excellent. When we arrived on a freezing cold day the hotel was lovely and warm, our family room was lovely and warm.As it was a family room I had expected a double and a single bed,but I was very pleasantly surprised that my daughter would have her own room.Everything was spotlessly clean, although some areas of the room and hotel could do with a lick of paint, for the price including breakfast[full english] it was excellent value. The staff cannot do enough for you.We ate there in the evening too with no complaints and very reasonably priced bar food. There is also a pool and sauna.I would recommend this hotel for a night stay. Our total bill for 3 was £145 all in.Brilliant price.

Review 2:Some of the younger members of staff got quite stressed in the bar because they had a large "do" on and came across quite rude, but the older staff soon explained procedures and they corrected their behaviour immediately.

Review 3:There were a few initial problems, but the staff fixed them immediately once they were aware, for instance radiator didnt work but they fixed this within minutes. The duty manager(s) also provided my daughter with dairy free food as she has a severe intolerance and the food in the restuaurant was excellent, but not quite so good in the bar.

Review 4:Took an awfully long time to get hot water, rooms could have warmer. Staff in dining room could have better training never serve gentlemen first and when ordering water for table you expect it to arrive

Review 5:Quite comfortable although could do better.

Review 6:There was a wedding on the night we stayed and this did take over the whole hotel could not really use the facilities

Review 7:Village location was lovely and breakfast very good in the orangery and excellent food and service

Review 8:Staff very helpful and efficient. Room comfortable and pleasant. WiFi worked fine. Special offer price was much better value than big chain hotel near the motorway. Generous good quality breakfast. I was on a business trip so unfortunately had very limited time to enjoy the venue.

Review 9:Cobwebs, missing bulbs , worn furniture, restaurant mistakes, messy service at breakfast on Sunday. Sheets stained, dead fly on carpet for three days, maid?

Review 10:Pool sauna gym

Review 11:The decor is a little tired and the restaurant is in a conservatory - chilly in winter.

Review 12:Possibly the friendliest staff I have encountered all year! The receptionist Fiorentina is exceptional. Old vicarage with bags of character set in pleasant green grounds with vast trees and located next to the church and lovely Barford with its stone bridge across the river Avon, small local shop run by volunteers and proper local pubs. The food is above average and good value for money.

Review 13:The rooms were very dated and beds quite uncomfortable. There were also a few issues wi the room, and the taps didn't wok properly and the door didn't properly lock due to a loose doorknob. For nearly £100 per night I would have expected better value for money.

Review 14:Location was convienient for M40

Review 15:Me and my partner came for a nice relaxing break at the glebe hotel where they failed to mention before we booked that there was a party on the night and there was nothing but noise we was placed above the kitchen where we got told On the booking we would have views of the gardens or courtyard but all we had was roofs and noise from the kitchen from early in the morning with shouting and banging doors !

Review 16:Location and wifi

Review 17:Radiator on full heat on arrival and could not turn off. Bed sheets had strong bleach smell which was still on me the day after. Cobwebs and dead flys on window cills and corridors. Gym equipment very old. Breakfast and dinner poor.

Review 18:Internet connection interrupted after half hour of work. Water stream in shower was very weak.

Review 19:Room and bathroom design, mattress quality, very good breakfast, nice place and surrounding.

Review 20:Needs renovation in many areas, Windows still single glass and metal frame. Breakfast did not have a great choice . Beds still have the old style sheet and blanket type of cover, not a real bed cover. Waterpressure in Shower too low.

Review 21:Nice old style Hotel with very good gym. Feels nice to come in there, friendly reception. Bathroom was OK.

Review 22:Some of the towels were very well past it and our toilet failed to flush satisfactorily. (Minor details).

Review 23:They readily accommodated our necessary, middle of the night arrival and allocated us a two bedroomed suite with very modern bathroom. Very friendly staff. Very comprehensive cooked buffet breakfast which was slightly dried up due to our being being late.

Review 24:Uncomfortable beds, flat pillows, low water pressure in shower, pointless hairdrier attached to wall, musty smell throughout. Needs a renovation to warrant price

Review 25:Reception staff and location good.

Review 26:On arrival we were told by the receptionist that we didn't have a booking. Eventually it was found that "one of the girls" registered us incorrectly. Not a good start. Also the mattresses were very lumpy so we didn't have a good night's sleep. The room's decor was very drab and dated and quite small. We were only offered the restaurant menu for dinner by reception and discovered the bar menu by accident.

Review 27:Dinner in the bar was excellent and the barman was very efficient. Our bathroom was a real surprise, having seen the room, - very bright and shiny.

Review 28:The breakfast was not very warm on the first morning and the food was not refilled very quickly. The beds were not very comfortable and the spa needs up dating.

Review 29:Having a pool is a priority for us. The village the hotel is in was very nice.

Review 30:Unfortunately the mattress had seen better days with springs close to the surface, if we had stayed more than a night we wood have asked for a change, a good mattress topper should have solved the problem for a while

Review 31:Helpful staff, very smart bedroom

Review 32:We requested an extra bed for a small child in the family room. I rang the hotel three weeks prior to our arrival date to arrange this. Despite this the bed was not in the room when we arrived. We had to remind the staff on two occasions before they eventually provided the extra bed.

Review 33:Great location in a quiet village. Lovely rooms and good food. The swimming pool was an added bonus. The staff were polite and friendly.

Review 34:Very friendly staff and wonderful hotel. One of our party had special dietary requirements and the chef was happy to adapt any of the dishes on the menu to cater for them.

Review 35:I find it to be amazing in a hotel of this standard that they do not provide bars of soap in the bathroom and I was actually told that I should 'bring my own'! All they provide is the kind of liquid soap that one customarily finds in public toilets. Also the breakfast sausages were of inferior quality.

Review 36:Other than my dislikes, everything was up to adequate standards.

Review 37:There was a wedding reception on the second night of our stay and we had been given a room directly above the function room. The noise was unacceptable. There was obviously no soundproofing. It went on until midnight. It was impossible to sleep until it stopped. It is also a pity that the outside was in such a poor state of repair.

Review 38:Nicely appointed rooms. Nice quite first night.

Review 39:Not bad enough to complain but one of the young male staff needed to be with someone and be given more training.

Review 40:Food. Most of staff very friendly and helpful. Manager very attentive when we had a problem.

Review 41:Breakfast was chaos, not enough staff or tables, people had to wait in the garden, room look was worn, bathroom very outdated and extractor fan not working, door lock almost falling off, no fans available when room extremely hot as only small window to open

Review 42:Old bathroom, ventilation blocked by dusts. Cancellation of the dinner at the last minute because of a marriage, what allowed us to discover an excellent pub "The Joseph Arch"

Review 43:Small room but comfortable beds, at quiet night, nothing more

Review 44:Poor welcome, food at hotel, staff have changed since January and ambiance didn't seem quite as welcoming or slick,

Review 45:Therapist at hotel, Debbie, is absolutely excellent. Gym and pool were also very good and the decor of the room was very good.

Review 46:Hairdryer not working, poor shower, conservatory dirty and breakfast poor - fried eggs and scrambled eggs on buffet too long

Review 47:Good location near to motorway network

Review 48:My room was very small and there was a constant noise from the ceiling in the bathroom. Just got louder as the night went on. In the end the guy came up from reception and moved me as he could not understand where the noise was coming from. As with many places I have stayed with as a solo traveller you often end up in rooms that should be cupboards.

Review 49:Miss informed about breakfast. We didn't get any we were told 7am. Rooms very dated and smelly.dinner ok but old fashioned and just ok not worth the price.

Review 50:Beautiful location

Review 51:Decor was very dated, Breakfast was cold and when I told a member of staff, she put her hand under the heat lamps and said well the lamps are warm and walked away, just overall bad attitude.

Review 52:Room was clean and tidy.

Review 53:There was a wedding party on that night which upset my stay, the staff realised this and made up for it all.The party went on until late.I will stay at this hotel again definately

Review 54:The room was good and the ensuite is the best iv'e experienced in years

Review 55:I found the twin room beds uncomfortable, only a very very thin mattress protector, not topper, and a flat sheet. However this could have been down to it being summer months... but it certainly didn't have a luxurious feel to it. Also, I found it strange that booking the night before made it £14 more expensive than booking the week before...you would think it would be the same price or even cheaper as it could have been sat empty.

Review 56:The building was very striking, the bar area very pleasant. The bathroom was spotless. The breakfast was really very nice, good quality produce. We didnt eat in the restaurant but the buffet provided for the Wake that we were attending was well topped up, well manned and of good quality.

Review 57:the shower was a trickle of water. the staff did not know how to work the computer on both check in and check out. the evening dinner service was very slow even to bring a drink and was very over priced for the quality of food provided the breakfast was fairly poor quality meat, get better in a premier inn

Review 58:nicely refurbished bathroom

Review 59:Disappointed in the restaurant menu. A severe lack of choice (bar menu much better). Lack of prices a 'put off'. Hence ate bar meals.

Review 60:Pleasant location. Bedroom & facilities were excellent. Staff very pleasant.

Review 61:We found the Hotel not very clean it certainly needs a good makeover plus lift was out of order.

Review 62:The car park also the staff were very helpful Sorry....that's all I can say.

Review 63:Looked like a nice country house hotel- but very tired looking building. small cramped pool .when I asked for cappuccino- they said they only served coffee! Breakfast sausages and eggs- very poor quality.

Review 64:Dated hotel with very tired public areas and rooms. Poor breakfast, and evening meal. Cleanliness poor public areas carpets dirty required cleaning etc

Review 65:Nothing

Review 66:The first room we got was nice ,but was over the water fountain where the little outside court yard is,which is also where the function rooms and bar is ,first night there was a function going on felt like we were in the same room as them as it was so loud,we had to close the window as well as the people was coming into the the little court yard to smoke and drink the noise and smoke filling are room was dreadful ,also it was a very hot night so the room was very uncomfortable with the windows closed the 2nd night there was a wedding reception same as before was going on so i asked to be moved to another room which we did that was much better

Review 67:staff are great and friendly

Review 68:The hotel could benefit from a renovation.

Review 69:Countryside. Nice athmosphere. A dedicated person working in the gym and pool area. Learned a new English word: 'glebe'

Review 70:Single bed uncomfortable and no duvet available despite a request for one. Lack of towels - only provided 2 sets of bathroom towels for 3 occupants. Tv remote had no back - batteries taped poorly in place and had to be held to get tv to work - they got very hot - a health hazard.

Review 71:Very quiet rooms as requested. Surprised and very pleased to find that the family room was actually 2 fairly spacious separate rooms. Fantastic bathroom - newly renovated and spotlessly clean.

Review 72:The restaurant dinner was excellent! But it was a shock to see the charge of £23.00 for a main (salmon, white rice and ribbon vegetables) and dessert (cheesecake and berries) but they were good.

Review 73:The bed was very hard, as were the pillows. The staff on reception were helpful when approached, but none of them gave a greeting without being approached first. A cheery good morning etc would have been nice.

Review 74:Décor good, cleaning staff friendly and helpful. Bar staff and catering staff friendly.

Review 75:The room was incredibly hot and it wasn't a warm day. The central heating seemed to be on full blast. The bathroom fittings seemed rather 'tired'..

Review 76:Comfy bed and very friendly staff.

Review 77:breakfast cold - room they knew we were arriving for that room although time not given in extreme heat a little foresight to open a window would have been appreciated

Review 78:staff very good ++ dinner OK + well air conditioned +++

Review 79:There were cigarette burn marks on the sink, and the toilet had not been flushed when I arrived. I was woken early by the loudness of the water of someone else's ablutions. View over the bins from the room

Review 80:Friendly staff. Front door open 24 hours. Ample parking.

Review 81:Little choice and poor quality food for breakfast. Kept running out of food. Room and bathroom tired looking and not so clean. If I were to want budget hotel with no fuss for little money I would be happy but seeing what the price was, was not impressed at all.

Review 82:Well heated swimming pool.

Review 83:We had room 105 and the wi fi does not work the signal only reaches 102 and that is weak informed them of problem no satisfactory answer

Review 84:Very quite small but nice pool

Review 85:I booked family room which inc breakfast 1 adult 2 kids when I checked out I was charged £5 each for my kids breakfasts it quite clearly states on website it's a room rate inc breakfast.

Review 86:dinner was lovely and really reasonable. Lovely manager man x

Review 87:The wait we had for breakfast the manager admitted they had forgotten about our order we waited 45 minutes for a cooked breakfast. We had to ask for tea and coffee after such a long wait we asked for the toast to be brought even that was poor. Very disappointed. Leisure facilities were adequate but not good. The cold jacuzzi in the pool was not brilliant.

Review 88:Room was clean location good

Review 89:The room far too noisy. Manager moved us into another room but it was smaller, too hot and no bed lights. Not worth £114 per night

Review 90:Breakfast and helpfulness of manager

Review 91:On a whole, the hotel is very tired, the bed was small on not very comfortable, the fan in the bathroom was super noisy and the breakfast could have been so much better with some minor and basic improvements

Review 92:Location is great, the staff are very friendly. The wifi was refreshingly good for a hotel

Review 93:The wifi didn't work throughout the duration of my stay which caused significant distruptions to completing work as I was visiting on business. I also didn't think the music that was played in the dining room was appropriate (I would describe as Dance / Club music) maybe some easy listening would be better!

Review 94:Nice dining room, good central location, good food

Review 95:We had problems with the water which was luke warm due to a boiler problem . The staff, manager and receptionist were great and we got moved and upgraded to a better room.

Review 96:Nothing really bad. It's not a five star hotel but good value for money.

Review 97:The hotel is in s perfect location for Stratford and warwick. The staff were friendly and helpful and the two rooms we had were clean tidy big enough with bathrooms that were very modern and well kept. The food in both the restaurant and the bar was nice freshly cooked and reasonably priced. Drinks were a little expensive. The breakfast was basic but adequate. Free wifi in all areas worked well. There is a small swimming pool, sauna and steam room that is free to use for guests with towels provided.

Review 98:Weak shower cheap bed mattress fountain noise outside till midnight. Also had to change room because they gave me a room smelling paint. View to the roof. Dark room. Same happened to my work colleague. Gym equipment was cheap. Swimming pool was smelly and dirty With dirty walls.

Review 99:Friendly, professional waiting staff at breakfast. Good breakfast buffet - very tasty and good coffee. Clean, quiet stay - ideal for my needs. Good value for money overall.

Review 100:We liked the Individual character of the hotel & the Helpful staff. The Proximity to good pub food in the village & places of interest was very useful.

Review 101:We attempted to eat dinner in the restaurant but as two or our party and the children wished to order from the bar menu we were told we couldn't do that and would have to sit in the bar. The restaurant was empty except for one other couple at the time. The staff member who informed us of the fact that we couldn't eat from the bar menu in the restaurant was the very worst kind of jobsworth, extremely unhelpful and surly. I am very glad that as a party of eight we made sure the hotel didn't profit from our dinner!

Review 102:Comfortable rooms, adequate spa and lovely town

Review 103:Dated hotel. Unfriendly receptionist, no masseuse available at 3.30pm on a Friday afternoon. Not walking distance to Warwick centre, apart from two pubs, nowhere else to eat, uncomfortable bed, the towel railing in the bathroom fell off. Cold draft coming into the room due to the windows not being double glazed. The noise from the traffic was bad too.

Review 104:The cooked breakfast was okay and the young man who was serving the breakfast was friendly and helpful.

Review 105:We asked to change rooms as there were dog hairs on carpet and sofa of room we were first shown> However the 2nd room was very clean and tidy.

Review 106:Direct access to garden from room for dog. Swimming pool and gym were good. New bathrooms.

Review 107:The only thing that I would have a little moan about is the swimming pool area could do with a good clean and refurbish

Review 108:The hotel was great, the staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble

Review 109:Nothing terrible. Hotel needs some money spent on repairs and maintenance and staff training but the staff were nonetheless friendly and willing and the overall impression good.

Review 110:Staff attitude very good if some skills lacking eg in table service. Hotel has some maintenance issues but overall good value for a short stay.

Review 111:1ST Bedroom small & no wardrobe..but no problem changing to a perfect bedroom :) Pool changing room needs updating nice roof in pool area

Review 112:Our bedroom had an amazing bathroom. Great breakfast in conservatory Friendly staff

Review 113:Male General Manager very rude and obstructive. His bloody mindedness meant our 4 year old daughter had to stand up to eat in the bar, whilst the restaurant and indeed the hotel were completely empty. When we asked if we could sit at a table in the restaurant area to eat (at six o'clock, the restaurant was opening at seven) he said we couldn't. There was no one in there! But he said he didn't want to have to clear away before it opened. I asked he was fully booked. He replied no they were really quiet. He could've made an exception, he could see our little girl was struggling but he chose to speak over me and couldn't have been less helpful. The female staff heard what had happened on the morning and apologised. The food was horrible - everything in a fryer and overcooked. I looked in later (after I'd collected a takeaway) and the restaurant was completely empty. There were four cars in the car park of the hotel - 2 of them ours!

Review 114:Female staff.

Review 115:Everything was wonderful!!

Review 116:Very comfortable facility and all employees we encountered were absolutely very helpful and pleasant. Special kudos to Maria at the front desk and Petra with dining.

Review 117:2nd visit room was very shabby - should have refused it - have stayed there several times and before rooms always good before.

Review 118:the location and building - very historic and lovely and friendly hepful staff.

Review 119:Bedroom and bathroom need refurb. Cobwebs on ceiling windows very old. Radiator not working. But there was electric heater. really just needs o good overhaul. A little expensive for the qutility of the room

Review 120:Staff were friendly breakfast very nice.,

Review 121:we booked hotel for 3 days we were down visting my daughter and family at warwick we enjoyed our stay breakfast was very good def stay here next time here

Review 122:What didn't I like? Mere trivia: Noise from a group of people chatting and laughing in a neighbouring room and a wooden bar under the breakfast table making drawing up the chair impossible. I have struggled to criticise this hotel – I loved it.

Review 123:The hotel was extremely pleasant and the staff were super: friendly and competent, showing confidence and personality (a stark contrast to the cheesiness and plasticity one occasionally encounters in the large featureless hotels). Excellent value, I shall not only stay here again, I shall also recommend it. This hotel deserves to be popular.

Review 124:Only stayed one night. Room was good although the bathroom could do with updating. Nice small swimming pool and gym. Evening meal was very nice. Overall an enjoyable, reasonably priced stay.

Review 125:On arrival the receptionist was on the phone we did not expect her to cut her conversation short but it would have been nice to have been acknowledged we stood at reception like lemons for a good 2 to 3 minutes. The room was let down by a bathroom that was tired and had black mildew round the bath with taps that required 2 hands to operate

Review 126:The location of the hotel was fine and the room although at the end of a tired corridor was very nice and well equipped. the service at breakfast was friendly and the dinning room nice and airy

Review 127:On check in we were given a very small double room which was different to that viewed on offer we were then offered another room which we viewed of which they then offered another room of which was of the level of what was advertised on offer. We also then found out there was a wedding on in the hotel of which we had no idea until check in so we felt we had no option to go out of the hotel for a meal and we could hardly park when we came back from our meal and we were actually staying for 2 nights!! We had no fault with staff or level of service however to fill last 2 remaining rooms when a function is on is really not fair on outside guests when we had previously liked and enjoyed the experience on our first visit

Review 128:We had previously stayed and enjoyed our first visit at this hotel on a travel zoo offer Last few remaining rooms were pictured on booking .com so that is why booked a further visit

Review 129:Room was a bit small as was the bed. Decor looking somewhat tired.

Review 130:Hotel is conveniently located near to m40, and was a good base for exploring the surrounding area. Staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean.

Review 131:They gave me an old room and the rest are refurbished, I booked 2 singles as they gave me a family room so I had a child bed and also I was up all night from the room next door noise. I complained and they said the manager would call me as it was their error giving me the wrong room - to date I am still waiting

Review 132:As I was with my family

Review 133:There was some flies in the corridors and room. Also some dead flies on the Windowsills. I am sure this is a problem that could easily be dealt with.

Review 134:Location and setting Staff were friendly and helpful Bar was comfortable and beer good quality Hotel was well decorated and fitted out Room comfortable and pleasant

Review 135:I am being very picky here Only two things stuck in my mind. On arrival we had a bar snack of turkey sandwiches, considering the style of hotel We did expect fresh cut turkey and not processed. For some reason the area where we sat had small flies irritatingly buzzing about this may be due to the fountain close by

Review 136:Well met at reception Staff always very helpful at all times Hotel only 5 mins from M40, but in a nice quiet village . Easy access to lots of historical locations.Room was comfortable and large
