Reviews for The Gardeners Country Inn

Review 1:Easier to find travelling north than south as it is set back behind trees. I was travelling south...

Review 2:Nice motel-type accommodation. Pet-friendly, though pets not allowed in bar.

Review 3:we loved everything.. Staff were polite and helpful.. Everything was perfect.. We'll definitely be retuning! We've already spread the word to our family and friends!

Review 4:TV remote kept sticking and WiFi signal was hit or miss.

Review 5:Lodge type rooms accessible directly from the car park. Well equipped and clean. En suite was large with shower bath and wc. Food was standard pub grub but we'll cooked and presented and very reasonably priced. Will use this hotel again Family run hotel and staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 6:Lodge right close To the carpark was so noisy and didn't sleep for that reason

Review 7:Excellent staff , excellent food , Staff brought food to the room was gorgeous

Review 8:The Motel rooms are spacious but a few more hooks to hang things on and a shelf in the bathroom for washkit would have been helpful. The bed was comfortable enough but slightly lumpy. I think a mattress replacement may be needed shortly. No major problems.

Review 9:Conveniently situated, pleasant staff, good restaurant and easy to park. All facilities very clean.

Review 10:Shower head and shower curtain need replacing, a really small and easy thing to do.

Review 11:A really comfortable stay, everything we needed. Food was excellent and found staff really helpful and friendly. We'll be back, great value for money.

Review 12:Breakfast started to late for business traveller at 8am I was already at my desk 20miles away. Given availability would have been nice to offered a discount on the upgrade price. No plug in the bath and no TV in the bedroom. Shower leaked a lot too(room 6£

Review 13:Nice size with good amount of space

Review 14:Not a bad experience, but room did not have any chairs or coat hangers on arrival. Also light switches poorly located - not by door on entry and could not be reached from the bed without getting out!

Review 15:convenience of room relative to car parking

Review 16:Room smelled like a stable Poorly furnished - gaffer tape patches on carpet - divan base broken - stained toilet ( no toilet brush) plug chain broken - no hangers in wardrobe T.V. Control temperamental Could go on!

Review 17:Room was warm nice biscuits Reasonable Pub food

Review 18:I booked a double room only to be told that I could only have a disabled room. The shower head was damaged as it would not stay up on the riser as there was no rubber gripper on it. The bed was queen size. Many stains on the carpet and bed. No valance was on the bed. No modesty curtain on the windows. Original reception clerk was rude and Un helpful.

Review 19:Food on the first night was excellent, then did they change chef?? Restaurant not busy when we went again but main meal arrived straight after starter and even though it was a quick meal, it was not nice. 2 course in less than 45 mins. I like to relax an enjoy. Very rushed.

Review 20:Close to visit familly.

Review 21:Would have rather have paid for the breakfast in with the room price as a business traveller just easier on the receipts

Review 22:Deluxe room were like a one bet flat superb value

Review 23:Noisy deliveries after midnight and early morning. Uncomfortable bed where mattress was thin and had per trudging springs. Poor lighting in room. Bathroom shower curtain smelt of urine. Room a little shabby.

Review 24:Private Party. Food was excellent.

Review 25:Housekeeping missed a few things, bed very squeaky. Thought breakfast choices were limited, no fish or fresh fruit. Coffee not to my taste either and made me thirsty, maybe just a personal thing that though.

Review 26:Loved the room size and Jacuzzi, friendly staff and price. Fab value. Evening food was scrumptious and not to be missed.

Review 27:Free wifi fi but hardly worked Room clean on first inspection but found a few things that have been missed. Ie sweets under the chair The bath wasn't 100% clean Net curtains were hanging by a thread Thought it was free breakfast but that wasn't included and it came to £15

Review 28:staff friendly and helpful Pub food delicious Great location Spa bath lovely

Review 29:Found the breakfast lacking. Advertised full English breakfast. This was not accurate. No fruit juice or cereal just basic cooked breakfast that was very greasy. Portion big but was let down by preparation

Review 30:The room was pleasant and clean.

Review 31:cleaners need to be more thorough, found confetti under coffee table, and in the bedroom, but that's not a complaint as the lodge other than that was spotless and we enjoyed the stay ,

Review 32:big comfy bed, food excellent, spa bath :) staff lovely and helpful

Review 33:Some maintenance required to stairs in room that creaked loudly.

Review 34:Location was good and layout of the pub and rooms around a courtyard was very good. Standard of Pub food was excellent.

Review 35:Danggerous 300 yard walk from the Trans-Pennine Trail along busy A road.

Review 36:Very close to the Trans-Pennine Trail; walkers and cyclists can eaily use this as a staging post. Comfortable chalet style room Menu and portion size

Review 37:The room was spacious, the bathroom likewise, with the bedroom upstairs, on a big mezzane floor, I hadn't expected it to be so big for the price. It was clean, warm, good facilities. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The vegetarian food at the Inn was very good, a good choice of dishes and reasonably priced.

Review 38:We arrived at 7pm after a 4 hour drive to be told if we wanted to eat we would need to go to the restaurant straight away as the closed at 8pm. We ordered our meal and by 7:45pm all the staff were sat at the bar waiting to leave, to top it off the bar shut at 8:30pm. We were also told we had to vacate the room by 10am in the morning. No were on there website does it say the restaurant closed at 8pm and to vacate the room at 10am!

Review 39:Nothing

Review 40:Not so much a dislike but the only reason I have marked down the comfort of the bed, is that, I have a bad bask and any bed apart from my own is uncomfortable.

Review 41:This is our 3rd stay at gardeners and as always a pleasure. Lovely room, lovely food, lovely staff.

Review 42:It was bin man day on the wednesday morning and this woke me up earlier than i wanted but they have to be emptied at some point i guess!

Review 43:The lodge was amazing, big, warm and comfortable. Plus it had a fridge which is a huge bonus for us as i always like chilled water for bed. Everywhere was spotlessly cleaning and welcoming. Would definitely recommend.

Review 44:Bathroom not refreshed despite telling manager or bed made so had to do it myself. Trivial but not expected response. Road is very bumpy and full of holes.. Be careful. Not a place I'd go back to as better value elsewhere if you look. No inside lock on doors was concerning!!

Review 45:Ease of booking in

Review 46:I was a little dissappointed with the quality of the wifi. Very poor reception in the room.

Review 47:We have had meals here before, but business took me to Hull and I thought it a good idea to stop over. Great decision. Room 1, well presented and more than you need with space. Close to Hull as well.

Review 48:Would appreciate a decent cup of coffee, not instant, for breakfast.Thought that the luxury lodges included a king sized bed, but it is thesame size as the bed in the regular lodges, ie a queen.

Review 49:Convenient location. The lodges are ideal for a small group as they havea comfortable separate sitting area. Great bathroom in the luxury lodge.Good pub grub at very reasonable prices. Helpful staff.

Review 50:Not much natural light in the room. Paper thin walls meant we could clearly hear conversations next door. No proper shower in the room, only in the bath. Driveway badly needs resurfacing.

Review 51:Car park, accommodation and pub / restaurant in very close proximity to one another. Food quality more than adequate without being restaurant standard. Did exactly what it said on the tin!

Review 52:The Food , previous visit was great .This time Steak Night food was appalling .Spat salad it into my napkin.Steak tough ,chewy and dry, Chips half cooked half completely raw.Staff just said comments would be passed onto chef .As for sleep ,other guest noise. The Pub coolers and the room fridge .

Review 53:A place to stay local to seaside and other places we wanted to visit.

Review 54:Blind was broken in the bedroom in the lodge when we arrived so it wouldn't cover the window and the sheets weren't clean on the bed (also found a packet of opened sweets in one of the drawers so don't think it had been very thoroughly checked), however when this was raised with the Reception they happily moved us into a different lodge which was of the desired standard. We were told that they were refitting a lot of the blinds so this was probably the reason for the issue. Staff more than made up for the small issues and were happy to accommodate other requests, such as for ironing board and room service (at no additional cost).

Review 55:Staff were very friendly, handy location for getting to a Wedding at Rise Hall (£7 in a taxi, about 3 miles to drive). Quiet location. Wifi very effective, but necessary as the phone service in the area was bad!

Review 56:Food was average. Purple cheesecake was disgusting and overpriced at £4.50. Main problem was the next door lodge. The walls are paper thin and you can hear every little thing from next door. Our wedding anniversary was ruined due to the next door couple being "very noisy" until 4am. Two tvs in the room didnt work. Staff were clueless in how to fix them

Review 57:The room was beautiful with a large double jacuzzi and the pub just across the car park. Easy access to hornsea or bridlington

Review 58:The cleanliness in the bar area was poor, the bar itself just needed a good clean. The food was OK, just.

Review 59:The staff in the bar were very helpful and friendly

Review 60:smell of drains put us off ordering food from the inn, no respect for other guests when other travellers leaving early in the morning, bed was the most uncomfortable one Ive ever slept in !! Chalet 8.

Review 61:poor mattress on bed - felt every spring Breakfast not served until 08:00 a.m. and at 7:55 the access to the breakfast rooms [ and main building] were still closed.

Review 62:Rooms were clean

Review 63:nothing all good

Review 64:Good staff great room great location

Review 65:Jacuzzi bath and four poster bed

Review 66:I thought breakfast should have been included in the price and the bathroom could have been cleaner

Review 67:Nice room, friendly staff and good location

Review 68:Excellent value for money, the food was really good value - quality as well as quantity! Good staff!

Review 69:The shower wouldn't tighten up. There is little to no phone / mobile wifi on EE.

Review 70:The pub.

Review 71:Coldness in conservaty

Review 72:Food

Review 73:Clean and comfortable. Great sized room and bathroom. Excellent value.

Review 74:poor phone signal WIFI was slow

Review 75:location, staff, price and food.

Review 76:Nothing bad to say

Review 77:Rooms were superb

Review 78:Didn't think it was good value for money

Review 79:The rooms are very spaces and the spa bath was a bonus

Review 80:Next to nice country pub with great meals for a decent price

Review 81:The high standard of the accommodation, the quality of fixture and fittings and the room layout.

Review 82:I would like to be able to have breakfast from 7.00/7.30 as if you are on business you like to be on the road

Review 83:I left the velux window open at night and let a load of little bugs in lol!!!

Review 84:The lovely lay out of our room was brilliant.

Review 85:everything friendly staff very helpful rooms was lovely and clean. Food was very nice .

Review 86:Standard lodge VERY basic, pub menu VERY basic, lack of bins outside, especially for dog waste.

Review 87:Friendly staff, nice pub, good location.

Review 88:food stopped being served at 8 and bar closed altogether at 10 and it was a bank holiday

Review 89:Restaurant was dirty food on floor from afternoon and not cleaned up .told they had busy no excuse .

Review 90:staff very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely go back and recommend it.

Review 91:Had a problem with rooms booked, but staff very quickly put it right. Evening Meal was Excellent. Facilities good for our stay.

Review 92:The pleasant friendly staff, the room had all we needed and right on the doorstep after an enjoyable meal

Review 93:No gripes

Review 94:They did a Barnsley chop

Review 95:Terrible breakfast, delivered the night before!!!!! Bar closed at 8 on Christmas Eve Noisy generator ( or something) going all night

Review 96:Big bathrooms

Review 97:great restaurant, breakfast and pub. super friendly staff

Review 98:The bed was uncomfortable and the dvd was not working initially. There was only one coathanger in wardrobe.

Review 99:Staff were nice.

Review 100:food was tasteless, need a new chef.

Review 101:rooms where lovely.

Review 102:No mobile connection

Review 103:Location

Review 104:Friendly young staff

Review 105:The staff bend over backwards for you.have stayed a few times and will deffinatly stay again.

Review 106:There was a power cut in the morning which meant I couldn't shower because there was very little natural light. Service in the restaurant was ok to begin with but deteriorated by the end of the evening (there were only 4 other people in the bar).

Review 107:Location.

Review 108:Poor choice of breakfast options Thistles and weeds growing wild outside the rooms No hangers in the wardrobe in room 4 Seem more interested in eaters than the hotel guests

Review 109:No TV upstairs. Old fashioned plastic shower curtain. Bedside light not working

Review 110:The 2 storey accommodation afforded the additional space one very rarely sees in modern Hotels. Spacious bathroom. We would have no hesitation in recommending this Hotel, and will return next time we are in the area

Review 111:Size if room, jacuzzi

Review 112:Food menu bit basic, and food we are was dry. Fire extinguisher in room was 3 years out of day and incorrect wall bracket for it. No remote for tv

Review 113:my only point i would like to make is that the signal for my phone and internet was weak. but this could be vodafones fault

Review 114:i like everything!! we have stayed several times now and the entertainment is great too. the food is to die for

Review 115:Sofa in the room was a bit old and uncomfortable.

Review 116:Superior room was very nice odd bits of maintenance needed but clean and tidy. Excellent food in the bar.very friendly staff and reasonable prices.

Review 117:The rooms were well set out, comfortable and clean. Our room was one of a block of chalet style individual accommodation. There were tea and coffee facilities and a fridge for our use.

Review 118:Spacious and comfortable room with good guest facilities. Very homely and comfortable bar / restaurant area, although a little cold. Excellent meal. Real ale good but no choice

Review 119:No breakfast ! Good value accommodation but let down by minor issues such as no towel rail in bathroom and noisy plumbing.

Review 120:Spacious lodges, good food, friendly staff, convenient location.

Review 121:The only thing I and my friends did not like were the sausages on the breakfast they appeared and tasted as if they were going off

Review 122:The food was really well cooked served by very helpful staff

Review 123:Although on your website it says that a continental breakfast is included and delivered to the room, it is not. In fact no breakfast of any kind is available as the inn does not do breakfast. The staff told me that they had tried to ammend it on your website but were unable to do so. Also my booking had not gone through to the premises from you so they had no notification of my arrival. Thankfully there was a room available but had they been full I would them have had to look for alternative accommodation. I suggest that you get this sorted as a matter of urgency before some poor soul suffers this fate.

Review 124:It was quiet and spacious.

Review 125:we didn't receive our breakfast to our room as was included in the price which was disappointing especially as there was no other option to grab a bite to eat on the premises.

Review 126:the layout of the lodges were nice, the gardens were lovely with the weather we were having, food good and reasonable In price,
