Reviews for Acorn Guest House in Hull

Review 1:Cooked breakfast was a bit sub par, quite bland.

Review 2:Nice to have a room with a fridge and microwave. The person who runs the place was informative and welcoming. The room I was in was a great size, I travelled alone but for a small family or a couple of friends it would be great.

Review 3:Flat screen TV a bit small for the big room.

Review 4:Large, airy room with view over the huge back garden. Good breakfast choices - full Yorkshire filled us up for the day. Family owned and run, feels welcoming.

Review 5:Janet was an amazingly nice lady, the lodge was cozy, the breakfast was delicious! Can't say enough good things and would love to stay there again!

Review 6:The doors on the bathroom which are part glass and don't seal off the bathroom fully. More privacy would be preferable.

Review 7:A large bedroom with a very comfortable bed and a very good breakfast.

Review 8:We arrived at 8.30pm, landlady made it clear she was ready for bed, (lives next door) so we didn't feel we could call to sort out minor issues.

Review 9:Near the university which was what we needed, good car parking, although on the main road we had a room facing the back and it was very quiet, bed was comfy, room spacious

Review 10:Nothing, the place is perfect!

Review 11:The whole thing was just great. The room was spacious, the bed amazing and breakfast was sumptuous! Can't recommend it enough!

Review 12:It is slightly out of town, but buses stop outside & taxis only cost about £5. This is more than compensated by the quietness of the area. You are on a busy main road but once in the guest house, what with the beautiful garden, you would think that you were in the countryside.

Review 13:The Acorn Guest House was very welcoming and loved my stay there, rooms were spacious and comfy whilst the facilities were clean and perfect for my needs. Breakfast was lovely and my girlfriend and i enjoyed strolling through the grounds afterwards. Janet was lovely to talk too and a very friendly host, All in all we both had a fantastic stay and would definitely be back again. Nick.

Review 14:Felt the bathroom needed a little tlc.

Review 15:The lady owner was very welcoming and because we had to leave early Sunday had a super breakfast of Yogurt ,fruit, cereal and toast.

Review 16:If honest, I would say a good form of ventilation is required to get rid of cooking Smells as you enter the premises. And don't leave arriving guests name on show in the hallway.

Review 17:Comfortable bed, good shower, beautiful garden, host friendly.

Review 18:Noisy all night party in the University - we had to have the windows open as it was so hot so we didn't get much sleep!

Review 30:We stayed here whilst visiting our son at Hull Uni. It was a perfect location as it was only 5 mins away from him. Our room was nicely furnished with a lovely comfy bed and en suite. Review 36:Janet is really warm and welcoming and provides the perfect breakfast. The room was excellent, containing everthing you need for your stay. I particularly like the convenience of local bus service, which means I could leave the car when I went into town.

Review 37:Only minor issue was I lost wifi in the evening , not the end of the world! Next day the owners re set router and all sorted.

Review 38:I stayed in room 6 , it was glorious. Great decor, spacious and luxurious. It was spotlessly clean. Every little detail catered for. Fabulous. Breakfast efficient, good selection and vegetarian and gluten free well catered for. Friendly hosts and staff. A real gem! So good I booked to stay again !

Review 39:My room, 4, had a peculiar smell, although everything was very clean Décor is a little dated

Review 40:Good location on the main Beverley Road out of Hull Excellent breakfast Rooms well stocked with towels, toiletries, tea / coffee etc Janet, the owner, very friendly

Review 41:Wi fi connection only two days out of seven, but unsure what the owner could do to improve that.

Review 42:Janet very kind and helpful, and generous!! Very comfy bed, good water pressure on shower, nice to have en suit.

Review 43:Not overly keen on memory foam matresses, although slept well on it.

Review 44:Lovely very well equipped room which had a microwave, tea-making facilities and balcony looking onto the extensive garden. Very helpful hosts.

Review 45:The city was doing roadwork and the road was closed, so it was difficult getting there.

Review 46:The guesthouse was beautifully and tastefully decorated but felt very homey at the same time. Very comfortable and pleasant.

Review 47:WIFI didn't work in my room for some reason and it cuts off at 9pm which I didn't know- was very dissapointed. Couldn't find any staff to help me either.

Review 48:It was a good location, breakfast was provided and we had a lovely en suite bathroom.

Review 49:On arrival we had to ask for the heating to be switched on. When we returned at 9pm it had gone off again and we were a bit cold; barking dog was a bit irritating.

Review 50:Convenient for Hull city centre; quiet ground floor room at the rear of the house; convenient off street parking; good breakfast.

Review 51:It was very cold in the room and the heating came on only for a short time in the evening when we were not in! There was no soap and only one, very large, towel and one flannel for two people. The floor had rugs on laminate flooring.

Review 52:The bed was comfortable. The room was large and quiet. There were extra blankets available. It was useful to have a fridge.

Review 53:Nothing to dislike.

Review 54:Good location with ample parking facilities. It is next to a bus stop so we could park and ride, We had the studio room on the top floor which had a balcony looking out on the large garden at the rear of the property. Everything we needed was there - big fluffy towels, toiletries and a bath with powerful shower plus tea and coffee making facilities. Full English breakfast was cooked to order and included in the price. Great value for money

Review 55:nothing.

Review 56:everything-location,friendly family who cannot do enough to make your visit great, amazing garden with tawny owls in it,good breakfast, v.short walking distance to pub for evening meals/takeaways,fridge etc in room.

Review 57:Thought the Acorn guesthouse sign at the front could be a bit more prominent as it was a bit hard to find the driveway in heavy traffic.

Review 58:Large comfortable room. Off-street parking, Internet access and a full English breakfast all included in the price. Janet even offered to do my laundry! Friendly people and a good breakfast to start the day

Review 59:We gave a specific arrival time - between 4 and 5. Arrived at 4.10 - no answer when rang door bell. Went for a walk, returned 20 mins later - still no reply. Called house phone, no reply. Called mobile - Janet was in garden so couldn't hear the phone, but her daughter should have been at home. Obviously not! Was given code to get in. Did not meet Janet until next morning at breakfast, which we thought was a little rude as we had been mucked about. Had booked two rooms. We had been promised a king side bed with memory foam mattress and updated bathroom. Wrong on both counts. Bathroom was in desperate need of updating. Room at front of house and very noisy.

Review 60:A vegetarian breakfast was offered, which was appreciated. However, not happy with having to make own toast.

Review 61:There was a little bit of traffic noise, as I was in a room at the front of the house facing the road, but not enough to disturb.

Review 62:Impeccably clean; very comfortable bed; easy to come and go; great selection for breakfast. The garden looked lovely, but it was too wet to go outside and enjoy it.

Review 67:This accommodation was in a quiet location, no complaints at all. The quality of the breakfasts were excellent. The owners were very friendly, the gardens were accessible to all. We would go there again.

Review 68:Janet wasn't around on arrival so it would be helpful if we had been given instructions of how to get in prior to arrival in the event of her not being there. Fortunately other travellers opened the door and gave us her mobile number. We also booked a room online but Janet emailed a few hours later saying that unfortunately it had already been booked so she had put us in the attic (lovely room) but that she would throw in a bottle... I was very much looking forward to a drink once we settled in but it wasn't in the room :( Couldn't get wifi in the attic room and because it was windy the attic window/ doors made quite a big noise throughout the night.

Review 69:Bed was comfortable Garden looked lovely Attic room was nice

Review 70:Uncomfortable mattress so didn't sleep well x with it being lateish checking in we were left to our own divices not know ing when breakfast was etc supposedly in book 7.30 but shed changed it to 8.30 without informing us and we'd to be at the hospital for nine thirty which was further than we initially expected so was a rush
