Reviews for Village Hotel Hull
Review 1:Na
Review 2:Really relaxing - plenty of room in the room. Nothing was too much trouble - I asked for extra pillows and they were delivered promptly by Steven who also assisted us in the restaurant. Nice of him to introduce himself - was really genuine
Review 3:Arrived around midnight and had to pay up-front for the room (something to do with the systems), then found my room was a twin when I had booked a double. Also, I was informed that I would have to pay extra to use the leisure facilities, as I had booked through Booking.com. I had not noticed this when booking, so presume it was in the small print. Still annoying, though. Room was old fashioned and tired. Breakfast offered little for healthy eaters. Coffee undrinkable.
Review 4:Receptionist was friendly and apologetic. Toiletries smelled very nice.
Review 5:Unfortunately our room was very close to rooms with dogs staying in them, the continuous barking, which carried on into the early hours spoilt our stay .we were due to attend a wedding the next morning, where my daughter was a bridesmaid, having had very little sleep it hampered the enjoyment of the day. I do feel guests should be forewarned ,if they are to be located near rooms with dogs in .
Review 6:Only a two comments that the swimming pool didn't open till 10am over the Christmas days & I would prefer to swim before breakfast. Also on Christmas Day there was no where to get a coffee midmorning.
Review 7:Large comfortable room very spacious & clean-all the 'cleaning' staff were so pleasant.
Review 8:Woken up at 6.30 by herendous noise from fitness suite. This was due to an exercise clas. The noise from the speakers & constant chit chat from instructor whilst on a microphone went on for an hour. Absolutely awful experience. Completely ruined my break!
Review 9:Overall facilities & comfort were excellent. Staff were ok.
Review 10:Down graded the cleanliness due to maintenance scheduals on shower heada and taps. Lime scale build up on taps and the shower head looks like it needs chlorination scheme in place. Other than that the stay was nice hope this helps for future reference.
Review 11:Low level of lighting in room. A1 bed,A1 hanging space, A1 bathroom, A1 soundproofing, A1 for roominess, A1 staff, Parking area well lit and copious. I did enjoy my breakfast experience.
Review 12:Most everything
Review 13:Breakfast wasn't up to its usual standard. Food was swimming in grease and bacon not same quality as previous visit and no black pudding.
Review 14:The room was clean and comfortable ..could have had more pillows.
Review 15:automatic service charge on room service (on top of tray fee) that isn't mentioned anywhere on menu or in room!
Review 16:Fabulous food on room service - the best nicoise salad I have ever had! Sky TV in room, lovely comfy bed - just fabulous!
Review 17:Had 2 rooms booked one with early check in...reception staff not helpful initally Spa requires reception staff...very disorgonised but staff were friendly
Review 18:Rooms clean and very spacious...spa treatments were fab
Review 19:No choice for a normal tea bag in the room.
Review 20:All our needs were met, we both wish we could have stayed longer, will be coming back again in the near future :)
Review 21:Me and my partner have stayed at the hotel on several occasions and we have not yet been disappointed. The staff are lovely and friendly and ensure we enjoy our stay on all occasions. We love village hotel again overall and would recommend the hotel. The hotel is clean and comfy.
Review 22:Heater in room didn't work effectively. Was told it would be looked at but it did not improve. Hence lower comfort rating.
Review 23:Good facilities- pool, gym. Lovely bed.
Review 24:Their was a lot of overhead noise. I'm not sure if it was a room full of children or just people walking down the corridor.
Review 25:Most of the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Review 26:Tv didn't work but got sorted. Bed was double - but two singles together. Not really comfy.
Review 27:Great staff. Plenty of parking. Modern. Sizeable room. Food - room service - great quality and lots of healthy choice.
Review 28:N/A
Review 29:Wow where do i start with this hotel. I have been to many and by far this is the very best. The cleanliness, the staff the food, the rooms, everything was top notch as they say. Thankyou we will be returning.
Review 30:Had to pay for use of pool. I thought this should have come as part of booking. I believe it does come for free if you book direct with Village Hotels..
Review 31:Good staff, great facilities, clean, comfortable, good food, relaxed atmosphere
Review 32:Up grade Starbucks drinks, one coffee each!!!! Luxury toiletries, empty!!!! Bose sound system, ok if you had iphone4 would end even take iPad. Room was dirty!!!! Will only let me post three photos!!! Heating only worked when in room, so whenever we went into the room it was freezing and due to the extremely small heater was just getting warm by time we were going back out.
Review 33:Enjoyed the break away from the kids
Review 34:no body lotion for after shower.no biscuits to have in room with my tea. horrible 'slogan' cushions. hid them in wardrobe!
Review 35:room was spacious and comfy. pool was lovely.
Review 36:TV signal poor, kept cutting out. Channels did not relate to the numbers given - no BBC at all. Constant boiler noise in bathroom. Staff were pleasant but didn't tell me credit card fee applied when asked me how I wanted to pay - if I had known, I would've used debit card.
Review 37:Room was well laid out so felt spacious and even had a sofa and coffee table. Bed and bed linen were very comfortable.
Review 38:Nothing really, was a good hotel at a very reasonable price. Will be staying in a Village hotel again.
Review 39:Leisure facilities and location of hotel to nearby attractions
Review 40:Staff on the desk weren't good with general information, special offer on cheaper beer, we only noticed we could have got a red card, when I enquired about going into Hull I was told I needed to drive, yet there was s park and ride just up the road, when I asked about room service for breakfast I was told I had to ring down in the morning, and if it wasn't too busy , we could get it , no literature in room.
Review 41:Food, room and health spa was lovely,
Review 42:The view from our window. The room was too warm even with the fan on all night and could only open the window a crack
Review 43:The staff were excellent and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The car parking was excellent and the hotel facilities such as pool and bars/restaurant were great
Review 44:It is quite far out from the centre so we ended up paying for a few taxis as we were in a rush to get to a concert
Review 45:Lovely clean modern hotel, affordable, good breakfast, comfy bed
Review 46:Reception didn't tell me they had adapters for i phone Bose speaker in the room thought it was just out of date.
Review 47:Very nice top deck room modern clean and quiet. Good pool . Great breakfast!
Review 48:Nothing . My our stay couldn't have been better.
Review 49:Very helpful staff especially Sue on reception desk. Clean rooms. Great value for money. Very good facilities.
Review 50:Noisy guests outside front of hotel in the early hours swearing and shouting
Review 51:Everything. Great food great leisure facilities and great breakfast. near park and ride
Review 52:The staff were really friendly and helpful in all areas I visited. The quality of my superfood salad was good in the pub. The leisure facilities were clean and tidy
Review 53:Nothing
Review 54:My second stay at this hotel. The best thing about this hotel - the staff. Everyone that I dealt with was excellent. If you have this then everything else will follow as they want to do the right thing by their customers. The rooms are modern and comfortable. Good choice of food. The gym is good too.
Review 55:the room was not clean the bathroom had mould and dirt and had a ring where someone had there cup while in the bath. The TV quality of picture was terrible. The room was warm and stuffy and if you opened the window not only could you hear loud traffic but the door would rattle . The bed wasn't comfy had to ask for an extra pillow as they were really flat.
Review 56:There was only one pillow per person in the room. By the time we had realised this we were too tired to do anything about it. May be a second pillow could be placed in the wardrobe to solve this?
Review 57:Staff were very polite and helpful. Breakfast had a huge range and was very tasty. Had a beautiful view of the sunset from the fourth floor.
Review 58:Everything its an excellent hotel and the staff are what makes it a fabulous place to stay they cater well for my daighters needs due to her dusability wouldnt stay anywhere else in that area
Review 59:Except for the breakfast, the menu was not as varied as we would have liked; Non-hotel eating and leisure facilities require driving some distance, eg, to Hull City
Review 60:Good bed; excellent breakfast; staff dealing with breakfast was very good; car parking was very good; readily accessible 'Park and Ride buses to Hull centre; and, overall, staff was very helpful in helping to resolve a minor accident in the car park.
Review 61:What I liked the most was the big size of the rooms...hotel is exactly as described on website, breakfast is marvellous, over delivered on expectations
Review 62:Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I'd mentioned on our booking form that it was our wedding anniversary: we had a room on the highest floor with a beautiful view over the Humber Bridge and very generously were met with a dish of truffles and a really nice bottle of prosecco in our room at no charge when we arrived.
Review 63:I can honestly say nothing .
Review 64:Very helpful staff ,superb breakfast ,knowledgable staff on local area could not have been more helpful in advising us on where to go and what to see , room was much larger than expected and very clean , and special request for a vegetarian breakfast was dealt with by a very helpful waitress without any fuss at all .
Review 65:The breakfast was warm rather than hot, one of the problems of food standing under a heat lamp for any period of time.
Review 66:The evening meal in the pub was excellent. Hot food served quickly and really tasty ribs and chips.
Review 67:1: for today's standards, it should be a three star hotel. Not a 'resort' 2: breakfast is poor quality 3: cleaning of room should be reset everyday - not when you leave or request it
Review 68:Very lively and helpful staff
Review 69:The bed could be a bit more comfortable but it was ok. I asked for a bible but was told I cannot have one and they were given for guest if the wanted one.
Review 70:I enjoyed the atmosphere, the facilities etc
Review 71:A fight from a wedding party kicking off at 5.30 in the morning right under our room where was the hotel security???
Review 72:The service From the staff was excellent, the accommodation was excellent, the food was excellent
Review 73:The hotel was excellent value for money. Food was really nice. But best of all was the staff, nothing was to much trouble, every request was met with a friendly smile.
Review 74:Nothing!
Review 75:The staff were fabulous, from the warmth of our check-in to the lovely breakfast team. The hotel felt young and lively, but perfect for us as a mature couple too. Lovely to sit outside having a drink. Great facilities including beauty treatments (even on Sunday) and a fitness centre.
Review 76:Everything was fine
Review 77:Location wasn't too far from the centre. Hotel was clean and friendly staff. I had to pay a £5.00 charge to use the gym facilities.
Review 78:The hotel is very noisy. It's very close to a major road and on an industrial estate which has lorries operating 24/7 so if you're a light sleeper (like me) don't expect to get a quiet nights rest.
Review 79:Lots of facilities on site.
Review 80:The bar stopped serving food too early but apart from that the whole stay was very nice.
Review 81:We liked all of it, the room, the staff, the pub and the breakfast. We even had dinner in the restaurant one night as well as eating in the pub which were both lovely.
Review 82:It was a bit noisy at night with guests going to bed and making quite a bit of noise but you can't really blame the hotel for that.
Review 83:Everything! The hotel looks great and has lovely bars and restaurants. Food was very tasty. The receptionists were so friendly. Room was great and the gym and swimming pool were superb. For such a nice hotel they were very welcoming of young children.
Review 84:The quality of the rooms really let this hotel down. They are pretty much in line with any basic chain hotel, such as Premier Inn etc, but we were under the impression that it would be a level above this. The downstairs areas in the hotel are way higher standard than the hotel rooms themselves, even when we upgraded to the "Upper Deck" for our final night, still not overly impressed at all.
Review 85:The staff are very friendly and helped us when we needed to stay an extra night. The facilities on site are appreciated, such as the Starbucks and the gym.
Review 86:Minor detail....only 1 lift...
Review 87:The restaurant / grill served 5 star cuisine at 3 star prices, a credit to both the service and kitchen staff. Top floor room could not be faltered and probably one of the quietest we have been in. Breakfast was to die for...
Review 88:would of been nice to have had some entertainment or something on as u are quite far out of hull city centre if u dont drive or want to travel far as it was quite daunting being full of hen partys etc when your there as a couple.
Review 89:being on the 5th floor upperdeck deffo had its advantages as the hotel seems very popular for weddings and hen partys but i had 2 nights of undisturbed sleep which was great. the staff were nice and helpful and one lady on the front desk even got me a last minute appointment in the spa for my eye brows the spa is great located on the first floor and the lady who runs it is super friendly i would deffo book more treatments if i stayed there again.
Review 90:After checking into our room we noticed that there was a rumbling noise and that parts of the room were vibrating. We checked in the corridor and everything was fine but we did notice that the room was next to lots of doors which said staff only and had a danger sign on them regarding electrical voltage. We rang reception and asked to change rooms. Unfortunately the new room was very hot and even with the windows open and a fan on it was difficult to sleep. I informed reception of this in the morning but they did not seem to care.
Review 91:The breakfast was good.
Review 92:Not a massive complaint but if i pay for a double room i detest having two beds bolted together.. Not that it effected my night in any way, (was comfortable enough), but two beds together does not a double make...
Review 93:Amazing service.. Staff were fantastic!! Room clean and a nice size.. And the breakfast was wonderful too!
Review 94:if you have a corporate rate , it only applies when not busy. Wouldn't stay when the rate goes from £79 to £129 Don't value loyal customers
Review 95:Good hotel and pool a great advantage
Review 96:Unhappy about the credit card charge and if you wanted to use the pool or gym it was £5. This just makes you not want to repeat the visit. Wifi did not work.
Review 97:Breakfast was good, and clean room.
Review 98:Wifi kept going on and off.. No consistency that would be my only flaw.
Review 99:Was great value for money.. Upgraded to the superior suite for an extra £30 and was definitely worth it for the extras you get.
Review 100:Room was to hot can't open window tea & coffee facilities in room were poor plus complimentary bottled water would have been nice
Review 101:Leisure facilities nice big room friendly staff especially Sarah at Starbucks coffee shop
Review 102:the vibration off the headboard was so uncomfortable for the first night then changed rooms and everything was great.
Review 103:most of the staff were very poli friendly and helpful. The breakfast experience was excellent.
Review 104:haords of drunken grown women staying on the same floor screaming - shouting and fighting till early hours of the morning they had attended a male strip show and were all very drunk and at some points violent
Review 105:staff - food and general feel of the hotel
Review 106:There was a hen party staying on our floor who, for some reason instead of staying out clubbing, decided to spend from 11ish until gone 3 am partying in one of the rooms running up and down the corridor, screaming, swearing and banging doors. This spoilt an otherwise lovely stay. I realise the hotel can't be held responsible for guests behaviour but it might be an idea for someone to walk around each floor at night to make sure nothing like this is happening.
Review 107:We had a beautiful meal in your restaurant the waiters were friendly and helpful. We made use of the spa though it's a shame the hot tub wasn't working. The upper deck room had everything we needed . Everything was clean. Well done.
Review 108:Bedroom. No aircon, windows barely open. Domestic fan in the room. Bathroom is domestic quality and therefore wearing very badly. Mould, broken fittings and average cleaning standard.
Review 109:Convenient location. Nice public areas.
Review 110:The location could have been aesthetically better but was easy to find.
Review 111:The gym, pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were the main reason for our choice of hotel and we were not disappointed. The room was clean and modern. The staff also phoned the room a few minutes after arrival to ensure we were happy with the room, which was a nice touch.
Review 112:Very impressed with how friendly and helpful the staff were, which is often not the case in a large commercial hotel. The all you can eat breakfast was a bargain at £4.95, with everything cooked perfectly.
Review 113:The noise from the corridor from people passing by was sometimes disturbing during night.
Review 114:Very good value for money Good restaurant and friendly staff Good choice in breakfast buffet
Review 115:Rm 266 unbearably hot with windowsopen (noisy!)and fan on all night (noisier!). Mentioned to staff on departure for sake of future guests...didn't appear interested!
Review 116:Shower was useless ran really slow. To say it was "upper deck" is a bit of a joke just a big standard room with a lick of paint and sky definetly not worth the extra money
Review 117:Bed was comfy
Review 118:not enough time to enjoy all of the facilities
Review 119:Great gym, bar & restaurant. I like that the bar isn't a typical soulless hotel bar and that it has been modelled as a Pub - much more personal and appealing
Review 120:Bathroom was a bit sparse, more towels & some toiletries would have been good.
Review 121:Reception staff, room size, breakfast & the bar area were all good.
Review 122:alled in personally to book a single room. I was told they didn't have any and left to walk away even though rooms available ( not sure mgt would be impressed). Room booked online by my brother.
Review 123:Nothing in particular. It was an emergency booking because my plans for the day had not worked out.
Review 124:The breakfast was average, a few of the fittings are starting to show their age but nothing that would put me off using the hotel again.
Review 125:The pool, the staff are friendly and efficient, rooms nice and big and very clean
Review 126:nothing really,
Review 127:Staff ! I was leaving early both days I was there, so I didn't book breakfast. The receptionist asked if I would like a bacon roll and tea to take away. I did this and really enjoyed it. Loved the gym, good facility
Review 128:none
Review 129:upper deck room very comfortable, comparable with superior rooms in local more expensive hotels. pub grub excellent value for money, breakfast in restaurant excellent.
Review 130:The only thing i would say i wasn't massively impressed with would be the breakfast. It was nice but i think a lot of it wasnt cooked from scratch and the beans were cold but that's just me being picky!
Review 131:My boyfriend and i spent our first anniversary at the villAge hotel and it was brilliant! The staff were extremely helpful and met our every need. A barmaid even let us borrow her personal phone charger! I would definitely recommend the villAge urban hotel for any young couple wanting a few days away
Review 132:breakfast a bit dodgy one morning but was rectified straight away.
Review 133:staff always helpful, as a disabled person nothing is too much for them. very pleasant, and nice to talk to, which is rare these days.
Review 134:We often stay here when in area and love pool and spa area we travel with children so they look forward to swimming in the pool too , the staff are so friendly and nothing is a problem to them , food is lovely especially buffet breakfast , beds are comfortable and the pull out sofa for our twins is made up in advance also nice touch packet of sweets and a drink left on beds for children 5 star rating from us
Review 135:Longer pool times for children.
Review 136:We stayed at village to watch football match. The hotel is ideally situated for kc stadium with a park and ride outside.
Review 137:Be aware, this is a popular place for Hen parties, adult birthday parties, office parties etc, hence is it can be noisy. We stayed over a weekend and 3 groups were staying in the hotel using the facilities till late in the night.
Review 138:The hotel and staff are great
