Reviews for Newpark Hotel
Review 1:Raining on Saturday evening, didn't allow visit to town to see more than one location
Review 2:Room & Food. Location to City. To & from Dublin great road
Review 3:The bed was not comfortable and there was a bit of a smell of smoke/must in the room, the bar food was over priced and the portions were too small, swimming pool was too deep.
Review 4:Liked the size of the bedroom and got free upgrade, bathroom was lovely, staff were very nice, spa facilities were fabulous.
Review 5:One staff member in the bar was rude to us and other people that came to dine. He Acted like he didn't want to be there but this came across in his attitude. All other staff were amazing though!!!
Review 6:Staff/Girls in the spa, reception and gym were very good and chatty. Great massage in the treatment room.
Review 7:Very enjoyable stay in The Newpark, long, relaxing evening spent by the fireside on the luxurious couches! Beautiful, buffet style breakfast following a peaceful nights sleep! Looking forward to my next visit!
Review 8:The weather in Kilkenny!
Review 9:I had booked this hotel for my sister as a surprise about two years ago. She loved it. Eventually I got around to booking for my hubby and I...Its a lovely hotel a little outside the town. We were upgraded on arrival.......The room was really fabulous, spacious, luxurious, and had a beautiful little Christmas tree in the corner which was a lovely surprise and a bottle of wine and chocolate Santa. The room was also quiet and warm exactly what we needed. It had tea and coffee making facilities. Service in the hotel restaurant from all the staff was very friendly and efficient and food was very good. Highly recommended...........
Review 10:Room was very cozy and I loved out door zaquzzy . We had a dinner in bistro in the hotel . It was standard menu ,tast , service . Little disappointed about chicken wings for stater . But we would Love to go back for little break .
Review 11:After the treatments we got shampoo and conditioner for showers from the spa staff. On our package deal at spa we assumed we were getting a travel size gift which we did get, but it was the shampoo and conditioner again in a fancy bag. Very slight let down.
Review 12:Spa treatments. The free upgrade to superior room through booking.com.
Review 13:Room service was very poor quality food
Review 14:Went for a wedding and the reception was incredible - both for visual appeal and the food! The Infiniti pool is excellent. Breakfast was great and a short walk into town.
Review 15:Our bedroom didn't lock properly from the outside and our safe didn't work.
Review 16:Staff were lovely, a credit to the hotel. Good choice of food in the Bistro and for breakfast. Good New Year's eve celebrations...entertainment very good and complementary champagne at midnight.
Review 17:Hotel Foyer looked tired.. Curtains need sum attention.
Review 18:Hotel foyer needs some TLC..the curtains have seen better days. Confusion with our lunch arragements resulted in sloppy service, some starting dinner whilst others finishing. Staff appeared confused and distracted. I had food later on evening in the Bar..it changed my experience..a very helpful young lady was more than professional and couldnt do enough.food was very tasty and served with a smile
Review 19:Didnt find much wrong with the room!
Review 20:Great room. Massive bed. warm was extremely clean. staff couldnt have been nicer. will definately being staying again.
Review 21:Can't blame the hotel for it but other guests making a lot of noise on the corridors annoyed me
Review 22:Breakfast was lovely, plenty on offer. Room was very nice. Bathroom was clean and shower was excellent.
Review 23:We were early for our check-in, and the lady at reception told us she would ring us when our room was ready, she didn't and then when we did get back to the hotel at 4pm, our room still wasn't ready. We paid 200euro for one night, and the least we could have got was our room on time. The pool was very cold also.
Review 24:It was a really nice location, out of town. Lobby was fabulous and the bar was nice too. There was one really nice lady on reception that evening and she gave us a good recommendation for somewhere to eat that evening.
Review 25:only thing that could be improved was the water from the open shower tended to flood the bathroom floor a little and would leave towels down to soak it up and then would leave a slight damp smell in the bathroom.
Review 26:excellent service, from entering and requesting extra days to stay, which Caroline at reception was very helpful with, to room service, which was quick and efficient, rooms cleaned perfectly. Breakfast fantastic and all the amenities were brilliant and made real good use out of them. (sauna, steam room, pool, gym etc) The bar pulls an awesome pint too and does great food. Will be staying again.
Review 27:Excellent from start to finish, Stayed here for my Wife's 50th and to see family. Room was upgraded nice touch!!! and lovely bottle of Red wine and truffles in the room on arrival. Food was excellent, all staff very helpful and friendly!!! Would definately give this hotel 11 out of 10
Review 28:Beautiful hotel, excellent value for money with great facilities - pool, steam room, outdoor vitality pool The staff were extremely friendly and helpful... :)
Review 29:no
Review 30:the pleasant staff, particularly John being the one who welcomed us on our arrival and recognised us on his day off in Town on our way home,He impressed us in a way you felt you were special.Full marks to John.Hotel extremely comfortable and nicely heated unlike a lot of Hotels we visited lately.we will certainly be back soon
Review 31:Everything in the hotel was perfect the one downfall for me is that four times on Saturday morning we were disturbed by cleaners coming to the room in the early hours of the morning, I felt there was no privacy as the door was knocked and opened four times our check out time was not until 12 and at half 8 we were woke by the door been knocked and open by a member of staff
Review 32:No minibar and the tea/coffee making facilities were awkwardly placed and a little old. The bathroom was outdated and had mould. There was no way to control the temperature in the room.
Review 33:Comfortable and spacious room. Nicely decorated. Ironing board and iron were already located in the cupboard in the room, so you didn't have to ask.
Review 34:Even with the bad weather we had an amazing 4 days at Newpark. It was so relaxing and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. This is my second time staying at the newpark hotel and I can't wait to return. I would highly recommend it
Review 35:I wasn't overly impressed by the spa
Review 36:Very accommodating to us as we brought our young baby and they provided an upgraded room free of charge. The food in the bar for dinner was very nice.
Review 37:It looks like the duvet cover didn't change...Pillow cases has few hair
Review 38:The staff especially Joseph in HSK...The facilities in the Spa and the food
Review 39:Pool facilities a little dated. and older rooms a little dated however clean and comfortable.
Review 40:the staff are outstanding... the lobby is very inviting and the bar area is spacious. Food is good in bar area.
Review 41:Reception staff were a bit understaffed. The woman at the front desk was pleasant but busy. A second staff member would have helped. Breakfast was a bit chaotic. Self service toaster was in the doorway of the dining room so people tended to queue in the way. Tables were placed very closely. Not the restaurants fault but a large group were in and took over the room with their conversation. Arrived late and got a sandwich in the bar. €6 for a small ramekin of crisps and two slices of bread. Seemed a bit pricey as it was plain white bread toasted. No side salad, coleslaw or garnish, just two slices of bread and filling. There is a Topaz down the road - try there or bring your own :-)
Review 42:Room was of a nice size. I explained we were travelling looking at a wedding venue and we received a bottle of red wine in the room (and chocolates) which was really nice. Very warm. Tea making facilities. Check in was effortless. Porter brought bags to room which was a nice touch. Soya milk was available at breakfast. Decent vegetarian selection along with the usual. The breakfast waiter was very quiet but pleasant and very helpful. Our checkout was extended till 1pm on request.
Review 43:Charged extra for breakfast! Not clear at all on booking.com this was not included! Would have got cheaper rate if I had booked direct with Newpark! Not happy with that!
Review 44:Friendly staff good spacious room
Review 45:Don't want to be too negative as really loved this hotel but some notes of improvement: Breakfast was not great. Both myself and my partner got lots of egg shell in our scrambled egg so put us off eating our breakfast. A lot of the sausages looked under cooked so we avoided them. No beans! Shower doors in leisure centre need replacing as some are not closing properly.
Review 46:Staff on reception and in the spa area were exceptional and took time to chat. We arrived before check in and due to a full house the night before and there were no early rooms available, so the lovely girl on reception allowed us to put our bags into storage and go to the leisure centre/spa for the afternoon. Loved, loved, loved the outdoor infinity pool. So peaceful and relaxing. When we returned to reception we were informed that we were upgraded to a nicer room which was a pleasant surprise:-). The foyer was so beautiful with an open fire and plenty of comfortable couches and chairs. Definitely going back for afternoon tea with my sister, mother and aunt before Christmas:-).
Review 47:The price and there was a lack of service in the bar while the wedding was on!
Review 48:Room was fantastic but I didn't think the price at €160 was reasonable! And an extra €12.95 each for breakfast was a bit much!
Review 49:The atmosphere was calm and relaxing. The restaurant food was delicious and the leisure centre was lovely. The only bit of a nusiance was that on 2 occasions the room card wouldn't open the door and needed to be reprogrammed. Small thing.
Review 50:The price of food in the bar was expensive as was the drink. We got two toasted sandwiches and two pints and one small bowl of chips and it cost almost 28 euro. The bedroom was very warm as well.
Review 51:We liked the infinity pool. The room was very spacious.Very clean hotel overall.Have stayed there before and will again.?
Review 52:On our first day there was an issue with the pool temperature which meant it was too cold for our little boy which was disappointing however it was fixed for the following day.
Review 53:We stayed here for two nights with our 1 year old son during the Halloween Midterm, to say the staff could not do enough for us is an understatement. The facilities - playroom, family room, swimming pool, playground, petting farm, dining areas made the overall experience a very enjoyable break. We did not get an opportunity to avail of the spa on this occasion but having stayed previously can also highly recommend the treatments available. We will definitely return!
Review 54:There was nothing I didn't like
Review 55:Everything......reception,infinity pool, reception staff were fantastic, cleaners were very friendly, this is the second time I've come back to this hotel this year,
Review 56:Breakfast was a disapointment. I had a look at the (self service) options, but felt the food looked a bit tired. As only scrambled eggs were on offer, one could order other kinds of eggs from the menu which I did. But I felt strange when the 2 eggs arrived on 2 different side plates - which made me feel like I had ordered a double portion of something, instead of just having 2 fried eggs on a plate, as I decided to forego the fry. The staff were courteous.
Review 57:good location, well kept rooms and all areas clean and bright. Friendly staff.
Review 58:Both breakfast & bar food were lovely. Hotel was warm, very comfortable & welcoming. Leisure facilities are fab but pool area could be cleaner.
Review 59:The mattress definitely needs replacing in the room where we stayed.
Review 60:I really liked the Leisure centre especially the vitality pool and also the good number of gluten free options available to eat in the restaurant.
Review 61:Room can get very hot at night .. but could leave window open all day or there is a fan in the room ..
Review 62:Check in no hassle. 15 Min walk to the town . Staff very helpful . Pool area fantastic. .
Review 63:Requested a quiet room was assigned adjoining room on the first floor close to the elevator which had a lot of noise. Due to the hotel been full staff were unable to change room but were very accommodating to provide a superior room for the second night.
Review 64:Was attending a family wedding all aspects of the reception from beginning to end were excellent - meal was excellent served very efficiently with a smile. Staff very friendly and professional.
Review 65:The WIFI is terrible!! When they go to the trouble of getting everything else in the hotel right, why not install decent WIFI, it's a basic necessity these days.
Review 66:The staff were friendly and accommodating. And the girls in the Kid's Club were lovely, my two girls loved them.
Review 67:Walls very thin could hear everything from other room.
Review 68:Pet farm was excellent for kids. Kids club was great. Breakfast was great. Not overcooked and dried out like some hotel buffets.
Review 69:Room was very stuffy no air conditioning in the room
Review 70:Staff very helpful great with my two kids. Nothing was a problem. Served there food first in the bar. Farm outside area is brilliant
Review 71:The bathrooms really need to be updated to match the modern bedrooms. The shower needs to be more clear as to how to use it.
Review 72:The bedrooms were lovely and elegant. The infinity pool was outstanding and the hotel itself was tastefully decorated.
Review 73:We had a lovely stay in The New Park for our friends wedding. The staff, food, accommodation and the whole atmosphere of the hotel was first class. We hope to return some day soon.
Review 74:The room was not quite well cleaned The bathroom was not clean The inside pool was filthy and on top of that my child was not allowed to get access to the outside pool
Review 75:+ The staff was super friendly + The breakfast is really nice + Outside pool is awesome (but not allowed for children)
Review 76:Guests should be advised at checkin that a swipe of a credit card is required in order to charge dinner etc to the room. I was only advised during lunch service, while I was eating, that I would have to return to the payment counter to pay for lunch. The staff member was very polite and apologetic but it was an avoidable situation had we been advised at checkin. I also thought for a family room for 2 nights B&B, €462 was very expensive. I understand that demand probably spikes on bank holiday weekends but it still seems excessive.
Review 77:Fantastic facilities for families travelling with children. Family room (sterilising bottles, fridge etc), petting farm, playground, fairy walk & swimming pool. There is also a.kids club for over 4s. The hotel staff are attentive and accommodating to parents needs.
Review 78:I stayed at the newpark for one night as I attended a wedding there. The staff were amazing, the room was of tip quality and comfort and the breakfast was amazing! Would definitely return.
Review 79:The beds were so uncomfortable and small. Our room was over the maintained section so the men were able to look into our room. It said on booking the restaurant was open but it was closed there was only a bar menu
Review 80:The outdoor pool, sauna and steam room were amazing
Review 81:Phone in my room could not ring reception. Staff were a little lazy in clearing the outside seating areas. It gave the wrong impression of the hotel
Review 82:There was a really excellent waitress in the restaurant
Review 83:We had a room on the older part of the hotel. Torn carpet & uncomfortable bed let the rest of the hotel down badly.
Review 84:Great facilities for people travelling with a baby. Family room close to our hotel room with microwave, steriliser, changing unit and baby jumperoo.
Review 85:Room was very cold, power kept tripping all night, eventually got a new room by midnight.
Review 86:After having a bad experience at this hotel the staff were very apologetic & understanding.
Review 87:Key cards did not work- twice Frayed carpets on stairs Water on day one and not the second day Smell as you went into room
Review 88:Lovely view of farm and garden from bedroom Fairy walk Lands evening meal in the bar Complimentary breakfast
Review 89:No bad experience. Would like if bar/ lounge was a little more comfortable.
Review 90:Lovely relaxed foyer. Friendly and obliging staff. Good in lounge was very good.
Review 91:The shower was a bit slow.
Review 92:Almost everything. The room was spacious, modern and clean. The washroom was modern and clean as well. The facilities were really good. My daughter loved the mini farm, she enjoyed it thoroughly. Lastly, the breakfast was delicious with loads and loads of variety.
Review 93:Couldn't recommend this hotel enough We travelled with our 19 month old son and the hotel and staff we're extremely accommodating, Our son had the best time in The petting farm and playground Great location from the train station (10mins walk) Beautiful hotel and spa with every thing you need for the perfect family break away Have already booked another stay,
Review 94:Wi if didn't work in my room 127. Some one was allowed to take my wife's nap sack from the secured lock up where it was left between 11am and 3pm on 17-9-15.
Review 95:Spa facilities very good
Review 96:The big comfortable bed. The pool and spa, and the food in Scott's was great. The staff were both friendly and efficient they all seems to be Irish and that's a bonus as well, as the chat and personal touch that Irish staff in an Irish hotel make. When I asked for directions at reception the girl said " I live out near Borris you'll probably see my Mum she's a school Traffic warden, you can ask her if you get lost. " I laughed all the way to Borris! Oh and the barman makes a great Margarita
Review 97:Very nice room. Great little wildlife park to wander round. Free parking. Free WiFi. Couldn't hear any noise from the wedding reception that was taking place.
Review 98:Classic rooms are poor. Black mould in bathrooms on seals. Paint flaking. View of dirty exterior stairwell, filthy windows. Breakfast very poor. Ran out of pudding. Chef defrosted some, looked horrible. Waited 20 mins for two fried eggs. 2 star breakfast. 2 star room.
Review 99:Reception and bar nice
Review 100:WiFi reception kept dropping.
Review 101:Outdoor pool and leisure centre facilities were brilliant as were the staff of said leisure centre. Bar staff, Shane and Jordan in particular were top class made us feel really welcome and were very professional in their approach.
Review 102:Breakfast was buffet style with high quality ingredients. Location wasn't downtown but only a 25 min walk or a short taxi ride. Sauna / steam room & infinity pool were perfect to ease away any tensions.
Review 103:The hot tub had brown mildew on it. Waitress served us while chewing food in her mouth. Mouldy bread at breakfast.
Review 104:The beds were very comfy. Shower was great too.
Review 105:Pillows were hard and uncomfortable. Poached eggs were served on piece plate. Toilet was not properly cleaned.
Review 106:Staff were helpful and friendly. Food was good except for presentation.
Review 107:With no car the walk into the centre was a bit of a hike. Some of the breakfast hot dishes had been sitting for a while.
Review 108:Very big and clean room with both bath and shower plus sitting area with nice view. Very helpful staff. Lovely grounds.
Review 109:Not something we didn't like, more like feedback to put a cherry on the cake would be room separator or split rooms for families. As you can appreciate one big room and putting kids to bed at 7.30pm means mum and dad hav to stay in the bathroom out of the way until baby get to sleep :-( But really we had a fab time
Review 110:Brilliant facilities for families..... More than we would have ever of expected.... Small farm, fairy trail, adventure playground. Great babysitter :-)
Review 111:- Wifi is extremely bad, this is not acceptable in 2015 for 4 start hotel - as many people pointed out, central heating isn't for hotels! Room was too warm - Elevator smelled weird - This is probably a great family hotel but not so much for couples
Review 112:Grounds around the hotel, free bikes, club is fine
Review 113:The hot breakfast wasn"t very hot,the sausages were brown on one side and very pale looking the other side.some of the bacon was very well done. The cold buffet was excellent with a great arrangement of food.
Review 114:Staff were friendly ,room was lovely and spacious.bar food was lovely and well presented. The farm was nice and lovely to walk around.
Review 115:Ordered room service for breakfast, it cost €5 for tray and was also charged an extra €10 on checkout which I found very expensive and have never been charged that in any hotel
Review 116:One of the best hotel's we've stayed in for quite a while. Truly enjoyed our stay from the room, food, pool, mini farm and staff all was outstanding. Would highly recommemed and will certainly be back
Review 117:Need to change the sausages for breakfast. Didn't taste good but overall the breakfast was fine.
Review 118:Great facilities for the kids. Loved the farm and the family room.
Review 119:Great for children. We have 4 month old and the facilities were great with the family room located near our room with sterilisers and sink.for washing bottles. The pet farm was lovely
Review 120:On our first night the corridor was noisy interrupting sleep several times and the room was hot, without air con. There had been a wedding that day. On complaining we were moved to a top floor room which was quiet and had aircon and was very spacious and comfortable.
Review 121:Lovely leisure centre and good food
Review 122:Wifi was extremely weak throughout the hotel, it wasn't much better near the reception. Had to wait long for the staff to ask about tea and coffee in the morning because it was a bit badly organised.
Review 123:Beautiful hotel. Amazing leisure area, the infinity pool was smaller than expected but very relaxing! Amazing for kids with its small animal area and playground. Very comfortable hotel. Would recommend.
Review 124:The Kids Club facilities are excellent at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and chatted with our 3 year old daughter, making her feel very special indeed
Review 125:A few maintenance issues let it down. The shower tap would come off the wall! The shower did not have enough pressure. You can not control the room temp and this is on a timer. It was a bit cold in our room and the radiator never came on. We stayed in a controversial time as weather was changing from summer to autumn, maybe timer needed to be re-adjusted. Minor problems though.
Review 126:Well located, not in town but an easy 10min walk. The animal farm, the cleanliness, the attentive staff! Great!
Review 127:It was our second time here. Have a very relaxing 2 night stay. Loved the Thermal Suites and outdoor infinity pool. Really enjoyed the outdoor nature park and the quiet surrounding the hotel.
Review 128:The only thing I did not like was the sausages at breakfast. They were very tasteless
Review 129:The staff were very polite and very helpful. The hotel was spotlessly clean and very quiet.
Review 130:Bedroom and bathroom not 4 star standard broken tiles and Tap in bathroom location was actually 20 min walk not 10
Review 131:Comfy bed very friendly staff gorgeous lobby
Review 132:Location is good. But a good 20 minutes into the centre of the town.
Review 133:Rooms were lovely. We were given a free upgrade to a stunning room. There is so much at the hotel to do for families, including a mini wildlife farm. Very helpful staff too.
The Fine Print
