Reviews for Kingston Theatre Hotel

Review 1:Room was rather small but suitable for 2night stay

Review 2:Good location. Main purpose of visit, to see my grandson who appeared in cast in X-mas pantomime. Also good location for city centre.

Review 3:we were located above the dining room, and there was a raucous Christmas event with music immediately below us, so we got to sleep rather late.

Review 4:pleasant room with ensuite bathroom. Good choice of breakfast. Friendly staff.

Review 5:We stayed Christmas Eve and night. On arrival in the room (which I'm certain was an upgrade) was a bottle of red wine, water and glasses and chocolate reindeer as a welcome. There was even a christmas card. These were such a thoughtful touch. Aside from the gifts, we had a wonderful stay. Nothing was too much trouble even when we asked the cook if we could have fried bread! The hotel itself is right opposite New Theatre and only a five minute walk from the main shopping area. It's in a lovely area. This victorian hotel oozes character.

Review 6:Parking.

Review 7:Within 8 mins walk to the town centre. Rooms as per website. Qualitybreakfast. Only issue is parking. None. You can park outside but you arerestricted to 2 hours for £3 pounds. 18:00 to 08:30am free. You can park10 mins walk up the road for £2.50 all day in a public car park. If youstay here you won’t be disappointed.Check out the Theatre across the road you never know what gem may be on.

Review 8:Arrived before 1800 hours and so you have to pay for parking. For my liking the room was too warm during the night

Review 9:clean and tidy, staff very helpful and friendly. The full breakfast was very good.

Review 10:No major issues. Room wasn't the biggest but did have small double bed it in. Bit stingy on the T-bags! Only given one. Got some more from reception and still had a couple unused but next day after room clean was back to one!

Review 11:Decent hotel and got a good nights sleep.

Review 12:1. Room Access keys failed on a number of ocassions. 2. Hotel Breakfast included a very small Pot of Tea (no offer of refill) and Anorexic Size Slices of Toast. 3. Room was not cleaned AT ALL after my first nights stay

Review 13:Quality of Room was superb. Staff were quick to put things right.

Review 14:My dear friend did. Missed the step from room 17. Badly hurt herself. Idea maybe to put a coloured strip along the edge of the step ?

Review 15:Staff happy. Breakfast very good. Staff helpful. Evening food also very good. I enjoyed my stay very much.thank you.

Review 16:Our room was very small and very hot, unable to open our window too. Bed and pillows quiet hard & not very comfy.

Review 17:Very central and lovely food and staff.

Review 18:Lovely old building in a quiet, pretty square 5 minutes' walk from Hull city centre. We stayed in an executive room which was huge with a really comfortable kingsize bed. Everything was very clean and pleasant. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was nice.

Review 19:We can't think of a single thing we didn't like about our stay.

Review 20:We liked everything especially the value for the money and the friendliness of all the staff, would recommend to anyone and will be using your hotel again.

Review 21:The breakfast was not as good as a lot of places we have stayed in. For the size of room the bathroom was tiny.

Review 22:The old town was beautiful with lots of really nice old fashioned pubs and restaurants

Review 23:Having booked a 2 night stay in the Kingston theatre hotel for our sonswedding, on arrival, we were told (not shown) to go to a separatebuilding down the street as we were staying there??We only booked that hotel because our son was staying there, plus we got all our family & friends to book the same hotel long after we had booked in I might add. imagine our dismay on arrival to find everyone was staying there except us!! When we booked (well in advance) we informed the person taking the booking it was for our sons wedding & he was already booked in! We felt very excluded it was very disappointing to say the least! The room was dark even in daylight making it difficult to apply makeup plus it looked onto a YARD. We would not have stayed had we known beforehand.

Review 24:One very small issue, but not worth mentioning on here and it didn't spoil our stay at all.

Review 25:Beautiful room. Staff friendly and helpful. Excellent location for the Theatre & the City.

Review 26:No parking at hotel. Ok for us as were there mainly on Sunday when local park only £1.

Review 27:Nice hotel . Good location in walking distance of centre. Quiet room at back, Excellent value for money.

Review 28:The refrigerator in the bedroom which made a terrible noise and the curtaining did not keep out the street lighting and only one bedside light.

Review 29:Good location and value for money. comfortable and nice room. Nice staff.

Review 30:We requested a quiet room and were put in a room beside the lift shaft. Furthermore, the booking described in our reservation was not the room booked - smaller than 22m sq and no bath. Staff changed us the next day, but the room was still very noisy and the bed old and uncomfortable. I feel that we were disadvantaged due to getting a very good rate and booking well in advance (and being charged well in advance too). I may reconsider booking via booking.com in the future due to this.

Review 31:The breakfast was very good.

Review 32:In our room the wardrobe was pushed up against one side of the bed which was a bit annoying and it also meant there was no bedside table on that side. The furniture could be moved to accommodate a bedside table on both sides of the bed which would make staying in that room more comfortable

Review 33:very friendly and helpful staff. The room was very clean. The location of the hotel is great. We would stay here again if we are in Hull.

Review 34:Great room - well it was a suite really. Huge TV and bed. Fridge really useful for keeping water and fresh milk cold. Large bathroom which would benefit from a chair and some where to put things. Shower somewhat weak and couldn't be lowered - pain for little people. Staff were really friendly and helpful - especially as our key code was deactivated on a daily basis. Would go again.

Review 35:Room was beautiful decorated, clean and bed is so comfy did not want to leave. Staff friendly and went out of their way to change the room for me so I could have a fridge in my room. Nicest hotel I have ever stayed in!

Review 36:The breakfast bar was very limited for choice of cereal fruit and pastries, but the cooked breakfasts made up for it. Paying to park was a nuisance, but there were plenty of spaces nearby.

Review 37:The cooked breakfasts were very good, the staff very friendly. The room was a good size and the bed excellent. An attractive building in a pretty location, easily found from the old town and city centre.

Review 38:The single room was a bit cramped. There was a small flight of steps up to the front door which made entering difficult with luggage.

Review 39:The hotel was well appointed and clean. The staff very helpful.

Review 40:Booked a standard double; room quite small. One side of the bed was a bedside cabinet and the other side the wardrobe! Music from one of the two functions on Saturday was very loud and continued until midnight.

Review 41:Very friendly staff.

Review 42:If you like a local experience rather than a corporate place then this is for you! Lovely comfortable bed and my favourite - local kippers for breakfast!

Review 43:Nothing particularly bad, tea tray is a bit sparse, but other than that I cant find fault with this hotel, it might not be for everyone but it suits me perfectly.

Review 44:I have stayed here before and would choose to do so again, its comfortable, clean, excellent breakfasts, lovely staff, and in a decent, quiet location, why would you want to go anywhere else?

Review 45:The room was very warm due to the mini heatwave although a fan was provided in the room. The parking is a bit of a faff on.

Review 46:The staff were all excellent and friendly. The hotel looked like it had just been refurbished everywhere was very clean.

Review 47:Staff went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable. The room was wonderful, comfortable, classic decor. Evening meal was perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and served in style. I really did not want to leave!

Review 48:Parking is free from early evening until 8:30 am. You can book for a minimum of two hours only at a time. That's not the hotel though that's local authority rules.

Review 49:The room we were allocated was spacious and had a bath. We needed a shower. This was no problem and the reception reallocated us to a junior suite with garden view. Perfect. The bed! We spend a lot of time travelling and as per the other reviews a really comfy bed and great nights sleep. Breakfast was just right too. Have rebooked already.

Review 50:One little thing was having to pay to park outside hotel.8.30 to 6pm.Can be quite costly.

Review 51:Very central for walking into city centre.Nice position overlooking Garden.Breakfast Lovely.Staff very Pleasant.

Review 52:Great location, great staff, lovely rooms, wonderful food. Situated in a quieter part of the city centre but just a short stroll to the main attractions. Fantastic wedding venue. 5*

Review 53:Staff was brilliant, location was in a quiet area, everything within walking distance.

Review 54:With all the travelling I have done, this was most comfortable bed I have slept in.

Review 55:Nothing, but I am personally attached to this place for sentimental reasons.

Review 56:Stayed here first 25 years ago and a few times since. Staff are lovely Hull people very friendly and service at breakfast was lovely, beats the budget faceless places. Staff are willing to help.

Review 57:Had to travel in a Taxi for a restaurant. We could have chosen to stay and eat at the Hotel but decided to go out.

Review 58:Lovely stay and being across the road from the Theatre was a great bonus.

Review 59:only downside was no bedside table at one side of bed and tripped twice on landing steps

Review 60:lovely staff ,very attentive. The room was spacious and clean.Breakfast was first class.

Review 61:Second hand smoke blowing back into lobby & noise from event in room below, but not arrecting bedroom.

Review 62:Clean and homely with tasteful decor. Staff helpful & approachable.

Review 63:The separate accommodation adjacent to full hotel facilities made it feel was if we were independent but able to enjoy the bar and dining room of the hotel. It was good being able to walk to museums and galleries in the town centre. It was good to be able to park just outside the hotel.

Review 64:The tea tray was very poor, but that would be my only complaint.

Review 65:Thought the staff were superb, welcoming friendly and attentive. The breakfast was great with a wide choice, freshly cooked and served with a smile. Rooms were clean and comfortable. I can imagine that the slightly out of the way location may put some people off, but they really would be missing out. A hidden gem of a place.

Review 66:Sadly the food could have been better

Review 67:What stood out was the staff. They were excellent nothing was too much trouble. Nice friendly emails made me feel very welcome. The bed was comfortable and the rooms were clean.

Review 68:Off site parking in public car park down the road.

Review 69:Very friendly staff in both the restaurant and on reception. Made to feel welcome. Good pub around the corner from the hotel!

Review 70:The room was very small no where to put anything but okay for 2 nights and our room was not made up we left out the please make our room up by the time we came back in the evening could just not be bothered to complain , I am sure they would have done it , restaurant ok but a bit expensive for average pub meal

Review 71:Staff our lovely

Review 72:This Hotel was a great find, the room was spacious, comfortable and clean and the staff were very friendy and accomodating. We would definately go back to this hotel.

Review 73:Unfortunately I had a horrid attic room. Small, tv wouldn't work, plug socket partly worked, deco a little untidy.

Review 74:Staff friendly Good spread for breakfast Location

Review 75:The single bed was very narrow and up against a wall. It was covered with a matress topper which made the surface slightly uneven. As I only drink coffee I ound that the one sachet provided every day a bit mean. I know I could and should have asked for more and feel sure it would have been provided.

Review 76:Friendly and helpful staff and vegetarian cooked breakfast very tasty and always piping hot.

Review 77:Lack of plug sockets (or sockets behind beds with no access), not enough Tea/Coffee and Milk in the room

Review 78:The staff, comfy beds, nice bathroom, lovely lunchtime sandwiches, freshly cooked breakfast, location near to theatre

Review 79:Request a room in the main building or they may try and put you in the annexe.

Review 80:The Theatre Hotel was a lovely place to stay, very friendly and a good location near the shops and businesses. Restaurant and bar service very good.

Review 81:Kitchen shut at 9.. We had had a 4.5 hours drive to get there. Chinese recommended was empty but good !

Review 82:Lovely room-comfortable bed even for 6ft son!

Review 83:The room was a bit 'musty' on arrival however after opening the window for an hour or so, all was okay.

Review 84:Staff were exceptionally helpful and as a late arrival, I was well treated when looking for something to eat & despite the restaurant being closed. Breakfast was homely and very enjoyable.....would definitely stay again.

Review 85:Haveing stayed there last year i think they should look at the sweet menue and alter it from time to time.Allso i think they should use fresh tomatoes at breakfast instead of choped tin ones.

Review 86:Nothing i did not like apart from what i have put below. One thing i did like is that you can chat to the Md of the hotel and his sister.

Review 87:Breakfast could have been better, croissants were stale , but cooked breakfast was fine

Review 88:Rooms very god , clean and airy. Staff were really nice and helpful

Review 89:Shower (just an over the bath, very poor) Bed (not queen size and poor quality) Wifi connection failed to connect to any if our 4 devices Room very small On street parking (pay & display)

Review 90:Breakfast Location Sausages cooked perfectly!

Review 91:The wifi did not work adequately in my room and so I had to go to the lobby everytime I had to use internet.

Review 92:The room was small but clean and the pillows were exceptionally good. The room was also warm and the heating worked well - something to be appreciated when travelling in England in January. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good.

Review 93:Using the shower was a struggle as we could'nt get the temp. correct and was difficult to operate. Not enough shower gel for two people but thats a minor point. Theres nothing the Hotel can really do about it but people using mobile phones at Breakfast is annoying to say the least.

Review 94:Only a short walk from shopping areas and also train station/bus station. Bedroom was a good size and clean. Breakfast was very good and also hot. Service and staff at this Hotel are very good.

Review 95:This is our third time I have stayed at this hotel. The staff are very friendly on arrival continue to be pleasant and helpful during our stay. The hotel is in a fantastic quiet location although only a three minute walk to the centre. Breakfast is first class!! Thank you.

Review 96:Only on street parking or public car parks further away, not many street places available nearby, early evening.

Review 97:The hotel is in a quiet mainly residential area. The room represented good value for the price paid. The food was also good.

Review 98:No faults

Review 99:Fantastic welcome from ALL the staff. Welcome emails and info sent prior to visit and have just had a thank you email for staying. Lovely room, food, and right opposite Hull New Theatre, which was the purpose of the visit - The ELO Experience concert on 9.1.15. Very close to train station and town centre.

Review 100:shower could have been hotter TV in the room could only show an American shopping chanel - I wanted to watch BBC news

Review 101:clean hotel good breakfast good helpful staff

Review 102:The one-way system made it tricky to get there (having taken a wrong turning) and there was no hotel parking although car pars were not too far away.

Review 103:Very friendly and helpful staff, good location and excellent value for money. Free WiFi was a cherry on the cake!

Review 104:The hotel is centrally located in an attractive square and provides excellent service and value. We arrived after the kitchen had officially closed but a full evening menu was made available to us.

Review 105:the breakfast could have been better, ie cheep sausage and water on the plate from poached egg which was slightly overdone. having said this we would definatly stay agan if in Hull.

Review 106:the room was very nice the bed excellent staff very welcoming and friendly location excellent

Review 107:There wasn't anything not to like!

Review 108:High standards The room size, and its comfort and facilities.(Executive room) Very good breakfast. Close to town. A previous review that I read stated it was a long walk to car park. There is short stay parking right outside (free overnight after 6.pm) an the long stay car park is only150 metres away

Review 109:Reception Staff.didnt acknowledge us when we first arrived. And when we got to our room it was still being cleaned.and also in a different building

Review 110:Breakfast and the breakfast staff. Fantastic.

Review 111:Did not serve any food after 9pm; no room service. Difficult when shows do not finish until after 10pm.

Review 112:It's only a few yards tot he theatre which was the reason for visiting Hull.

Review 113:The shower was appalling and would not maintain its pressure or temperature. It was a real shame as our stay would have been perfect otherwise.

Review 114:Well presented little hotel with friendly staff.

Review 115:Location was excellent for the show we went to watch. The room was clean and very large. Biggest bed I have ever slept in. Not only did you get tea & coffee we had a couple of bottles of water which we could but in the fridge in the room. The breakfast selection were good and the cooked breakfast were very tasty. Would highly recommend this hotel hotel.

Review 116:The fact that my bedroom seemed to be right over the function room where there was a party going on. It is an incredibly noisy room and if it weren't for the fact that I wear ear plugs, I wouldn't have been able to sleep.

Review 117:The friendliness of the staff and how willing they were to help and their positive attitudes - nothing was too much trouble!

Review 118:The hotel is located in the quieter part of Hull with excellent links to the New Theatre. The old Town is just a 5 minute stroll away. We found the staff to be very helpful and our room was clean and spacious. I would definitely revisit.

Review 119:street parking can be busy if an event is on the Kingston Theatre but a lot of spaces if not and a very nearby carpark

Review 120:very helpful staff, friendly and welcoming. Lovely breakfast and evening meal, great value. Good location for City Centre

Review 121:Although the bathroom was massive, I found the shower very poor and the sink area could have have had a unit of some sort for personal items to be placed, i.e. shaving items, cosmetics etc., and also a lack of towels.

Review 122:Location. Value for Money Excellent breakfast

Review 123:Leaving!

Review 124:Everything at the kingston was perfect. We were here for a cousins wedding but couldn't have asked to stay at a better place. Food excellent, staff very helpful. Def stay again

Review 125:The shower could have had more water pressure. Someone was clunking around above me from about 4am which disturbed my sleep.

Review 126:The staff were welcoming. I had requested gluten free meals and this was provided without a fuss. The hotel decor was pleasing.

Review 127:A coat hook on back of door would be useful. The wardrobe wasn't very deep.It would have been impossible to hang a dress up.

Review 128:room size, double room for single occupancy. Good size shower room. Excellent breakfast choice even for vegetarians!

Review 129:The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were very friendly. The hotel is also in the centre and within a short walking distance to the shops.

Review 130:No direct access from room to bar/restaurant. No daylight as window obscured by timber outside. Room 224.

Review 131:Victorian Building. Large room. Good food.

Review 132:Bathroom a bit on the small side and poorly ventilated but it was fine for a one night stay.

Review 133:Loved the space and organisation in the exec room. Also loved the bed's comfort.

Review 134:Lovely large room , comfy bed, loads of pillows even an extra single if needed, toiletries and water provided. Nice fluffy towels Iron and board fan Room Great location walking distance to town centre The Deep and museums and bars The breakfast was lovely
