Reviews for The Crosskeys Inn

Review 1:Quite noisy when people walked down the corridor.

Review 2:Great location. We used the CrossKeys as a stop over as we attended a wedding at the nearby Glan-yr-afon hotel.

Review 3:On the Saturday night it's a little loud from the patrons in the pub below but the bed was so comfy it soon didn't bother us

Review 4:Staff were amazing the location is fantastic and the decor and furnishings were great in room 3

Review 5:Room only had one very small mirror in the bathroom, but that is being picky as the whole place was charming and we would thoroughly recommend it.

Review 6:Loved the character of the place and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Also liked the on site parking

Review 7:Not informed of a private party taking place the night we stayed. Very loud music until 2am. Unable to sleep and was so loud we could not hear the TV in the room over the music either! Would not stay again

Review 8:Rooms are noisy as you are right next to the main road. Got woken up by the postmen next door loading up, police siren going by, trucks stopping etc. They also need to sort the floor boards out as the ones in the corridor are connected to the room. This meant that when ever someone walked past the room the bed and bedside units wobbled. There was some sort of pump in the bathroom which made a loud noise when any tap was turned on.... Not ideal when getting a glass of water in the night and waking my wife up. Kettle was disgusting too. Opened it up and there was green, brown and white over the element at the bottom which put me right off having a cuppa that I needed after waking up 10 tens times in the night.

Review 9:Comfy bed, clean sheets and big TV.

Review 10:The young girl who showed us to our room was very nice and was happy when we said we didnt think we would get up early for breakfast as she said it was only 7am to 8.30am. Most hotels do breakfast until 10am. On the first afternoon we booked in I was unwell and decided to have a lie down before going out to meet a group of friends for a meal at the local Indian about 500 yards away. I couldn't rest because of a booming male voice in the courtyard below and screaming toddlers, later to find out that the voice was that of the landlord. As we had not spent any money at the bar in the pub I brought some friends in after the Indian (very rich friends who would have spent a lot of money) Ordered straight away 2 double gins and mixers and double vodka and mixer and double dark rum and mixer and a pint of lager. Our very friendly (not) landlord ruined our drinks and then refused to serve more saying he had run out of gin. Talk about unfriendly !!!!!! No wonder the pub was empty ! So my friends who would have been happy to stay and have some fun went back to their apparently much friendlier hotel to continue their partying and we went to our room and watched tv.

Review 11:One nights very comfortable bed !

Review 12:Fail to say they don't serve dinner on Saturday night. Put us in a front bedroom traffic bad early Sunday morning with worker across street yelling at each other at 5 am. Owner not very friendly.

Review 13:Convenient to town center

Review 14:Great location in the middle of the high street. The staff were very friendly with great meals and a well-stocked bar. You could come and go as you pleased with your own key after dark!

Review 15:The only dislike and not so much of a dislike as an inconvenience, but it would have been more beneficial to us for a later check out.

Review 16:Pleasure to stay here staff were very friendly, we were going to a wedding so didn't get back until late but were still able to get into our room, breakfast was great and there was a good selection of food

Review 17:Breakfast good No food served on Sat. eves.Checked with staff before moving in regarding noise (at 4pm Sat ) assured bar closed by 11pm Listened to every word in detail utill 2.44am on Sunday morn

Review 18:not pet friendly but understandable need to be considerate of other peoples allergies

Review 19:we were made to feel very welcome room was lovely and staff very friendly and accommodating

Review 20:Nothing major, wifi didn't actually work but as we were only staying one night it was not a problem

Review 21:Owners and staff very friendly and accommodating, went out of their way to cook our dinner before the usual evening meal time as we had had a long journey

Review 22:As our room faced the street it was quite noisy not helped by the mail for the area being delivered before 5am.

Review 23:The room was clean albeit, very small. In the bathroom you could clearly hear the conversation taking place in the bar below. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was plentiful and delicious!

Review 24:Don't get the room over the bar as was kept awake by listening to everyone very late into the night.

Review 25:Friendly welcoming hosts. Small room but clean and comfy bed

Review 26:Most rooms front the busy main road so traffic noise was a problem leading to a poor nights sleep and no need for an alarm clock! Triple glazing would make all the difference.

Review 27:A nice country pub with good beers and a cozy atmosphere.Room basic and clean, and overall what you'd expect for a budget option. As somewhere to get your head down for the night it's fine, especially if you can get a quiet room ,not on the front and away from the noise from the bar.

Review 28:Our room was above the bar and therefore until closing time it was slightly noisier than if in a hotel but this would not put us off staying again.

Review 29:Breakfast was absolutely first class.

Review 30:People in the bar until 2am then heavy footed people upstairs at 8am - one would be understandable, but both was a little trying. The free wifi was The Cloud. The shower head had black mould on the rubber.

Review 31:Great location, looks like a good locals pub. The bar looked cozy. Being able to opt out of paying for breakfast worked for us. The girl in the bar who welcomed us was very nice and pleasant.

Review 32:Nothing. This place is exactly what I was looking for.

Review 33:just the kind of place that you will love if you like very "olde" world pub type accommodation. (no plastic here) My room was spacious with a comfortable bed. Excellent beer and food with great land lord and his family. I will definitely stay again when I am down that way.

Review 34:Room a little on the small side but you get what you pay for. I would prefer to pay a little more for a larger room.

Review 35:Very casual, comfortable and reasonably quiet.

Review 36:Room too hot but fan provided. No evening meals at the weekend. Rather noisy at night.

Review 37:Easy access, free parking on site. Friendly staff and good breakfast. Comfortable bed and reasonable size room.

Review 38:The location of the Inn was central to and ideal in meeting our needs for a two day break. Not too far to venture out to see many sites. The staff were very attentive and the food great. It became apparent that the Inn is very popular with the locals giving a feeling of community spirit. The river Usk is only a short walk away and a good place to relax and watch crystal clear waters passing by. The town itself is laid back and has a few quirky and interesting shops. My wife has to use a mobility scooter and we found no trouble in getting around the town. After travelling out and about, a very good place to return and relax with everything at your doorstep.

Review 39:Value for money; extremely friendly and helpful staff and owners, and also amusing, interesting and friendly locals ready to oblige with information and help. The breakfast could fuel the most energetic for a day.

Review 40:Cleanliness & maintenance of the property interior was poor (rooms & public areas). While the choices for breakfast were good, the fruits were wrinkled or going bad.

Review 41:Helpful, friendly, generous staff. Good location. Good choice for breakfast.

Review 42:The room was small (but perfectly formed!) and very hot. We had to keep the window open all night. They did supply a fan but there was nowhere near the window to plug this in to circulate the air. The only place it could go was on top of the wardrobe which was no use to us lying spaced out on the bed about three foot below! I should imagine the room would however be lovely and cosy in the winter.

Review 43:We stayed in Room 1. It was very clean, not a speck of dirt or dust to be seen. All the staff we met were very friendly, as were the locals. We didn't stay for breakfast but wished we had as other people eating when we checked out and they had an amazing selection of cereals and fruits for breakfast and the "fry up" had our mouths watering. Lovely selection of teas and coffees in room and very plentiful.

Review 44:Very small double room, however good value for money & comfortable bed. No Pets.

Review 45:Friendly inn-keeper. Comfortable double bed. Small room but good value for money. Very central in Usk main street. Has included on-site parking.

Review 46:Comfortable bed and lovely breakfast.

Review 47:Great location. Friendly staff. On site parking. Great value for the money.

Review 48:No minuses at all.

Review 51:Very clean

Review 52:Very friendly and obliging staff

Review 53:Shower room was very small.

Review 98:Best cooked breakfast for a long time. Very convenient location for visiting the many local visitor attractions. Good value

Review 99:Poor sound isolation

Review 100:Wonderful atmosphere in the bar Great breakfast Good size room (#3) Location in the heart of the village

Review 101:Relaxing

Review 102:room was a bit small,no shaving point

Review 103:breakfast,staff,carparking and location

Review 104:The town of Usk is overwhelming with it's history and beauty. It was a privileged to stay in a hotel steeped in the past with a resident ghost! Our hosts went out of their way to ensure our stay was most enjoyable. Next time we visit we shall stay longer.

Review 105:It was a little noisy, but only to be expected, because it was an inn, so certainly not a big problem or a complaint.

Review 106:Excellent breakfast and very helpful and friendly staff. Very handy for town and easy parking on site. Also interested in the history of the Inn.

Review 107:Unfortunately our room was over the bar in this very old listed building - and there is no sound-proofing, so we could hear all the conversations, the snooker games, and the music until quite late. We would stay again, but ask for a different room. Despite using 2 codes we couldn't get wifi - maybe an off day - not crucial on this occasion.

Review 108:Very welcoming, excellent bed.

Review 109:This is a historic building, thus you can clearly hear street noise as well as noise from the pub in the room. More important, this B&B had a problem with the rancid oil from the chip pan which smelled in the staircase and the room. All in all, nice place but too expensive for what you get, seems to be rated too high in comparison to other places.

Review 110:Great atmosphere, especially in the historic pub with its fireplace.

Review 111:The landlord had a private party on the day we arrived, which made us feel a little uncomfortable.

Review 112:The pub was in an ideal spot for our overnight stop to south Wales.

Review 113:Place looking a little shabby & old fashioned, when toilet flushed & shower taken, the water pipes sound like a jet plane taking off

Review 114:Location & price

Review 115:Too expensive for what it was, really small room, and because the room was facing the street it was really noisy, as were the room next door to me so I barely got any sleep. The shower was awful with barely no pressure and had to leave it running for at least 5 minutes for the water to get warm, no shampoo, just soap. The wifi was really slow and barely worked half the time.

Review 116:The staff were friendly and the bed was comfortable.

Review 117:Not the pubs fault but noisy van delivery to shop opposite.

Review 118:Cosy town centre pub with easy parking at rear. Friendly staff, good food and a nice pint of 'Bob'.

Review 119:Room very small, no phone (meaning no alarm clock possibility) and too poor noise insulation

Review 120:staff very friendly. They make a sincere effort in satisfying the clients request
