Reviews for Mill End Hotel
Review 1:Minor point - in the Meavy room you can hear a water tank topping up a lot of the time. Seems to be in the roof above the room.
Review 2:Restaurant. Staff. Parking. Cleanliness
Review 3:Quite basic for price and the breakfast was a bit small and with such a great reputation for evening food I would have expected more.
Review 4:Beautiful location, stunning surroundings.
Review 5:Very narrow single beds which as a result were not very comfortable. Smoked salmon at breakfast was served with the brown part of the fish left on.
Review 6:The staff were delighted to do the smallest thing ....even keeping cool bags in their freezer overnight.
Review 7:wi fi signal was a little weak in our room, but that's me being really picky!!!
Review 8:The welcome, Room, deep bath, comfy bed, offer of fresh milk for making tea!!!! Home made cookies in room! Decor, atmosphere.
Review 9:Neither the wifi nor our mobiles worked in our room. It was a bit cold on the first night even though it was 1st June - the heating didn't make our room feel cosy, but the open fire in the lounge was lovely. All in all, perhaps a bit expensive given the few short comings.
Review 10:The food was as good as we remembered.
Review 11:Room wasn't ready over an hour after check-in time. £15 per breakfast is a bit pricey. Non-existant wi-fi, unless you sat in the receptionists chair.
Review 12:Comfy bed. Nice walk by the river and across fields to Chagford (took about 25 mins). Don't take a car there as you won't find parking easy.
Review 13:The only gripe I would have is that perhaps the portion size of the meal was on the small side. When we arrived there were no staff around so we had to wait a short while.
Review 14:Almost everything From the comfortable lounges to our soft bed with lovely cotton bed linen. Our evening meal was very well cooked and delicious, and the service was very good. When I booked I asked for a room with a view and we certainly had stunning views of sheep in the fields and the river Teign down by the bridge>
Review 15:Bedroom cold when we arrived, 4 pm on wet afternoon. No tumblers in bathroom, only one small chair in bedroom. Staff pleasant but overall alack of personal attention. Lacks the warmth welcom eit used to have.
Review 16:Location and situation. Food excellent, but no amuse bouche or nibbles with pre-dinner drinks.
Review 17:There is an Overly familiar, unprofessional woman at the check out who has NO concept of the tone needed to create a hospitable, welcoming environment. She needs training or just replacing. The Lack of a proper reception means you stand around half in the corridor and half in the office. Doesn't create a good first impression...and an even worse last one. The walls are so thin you can hear the neighbours getting in and out of bed, snoring and unfortunately even more... Dinner available from 7pm to 8:30pm? Exactly how does this make you feel welcome? A 90 minute service is a joke!
Review 18:The bathroom was very nicely done. The bed was comfortable, and the surrounding country side is lovely. Room service was fast and the food was good.
Review 19:I really enjoyed the fabulous terasses at the rooms to sit outside in the green of the Dartmoor. There is super hiking trails, the food is excellent and really great. Innovative kitchen. The staff is really nice and humerous. I loved it. Stayed for 4 days with my mum and kid, and we returned to it for a second time at the end of our stay. Just go there and chill!
Review 20:Wifi wasn't available in the room as had been advertised. Felt that the price was a little steep for what we received.
Review 21:Nice room with space outside, good comfy bed. Nice quiet country location, worth noting there is no phone signal.
Review 22:Restaurant appeared pricey and wifi limited
Review 23:Staff were really helpful and rooms had many great finishing touches. Perfect setting and base for exploring the surrounding area
Review 24:booked as breakfast included but on your paperwork it says at cost of £15.00 per breakfast so we made other arrangements but on check out we were told that breakfast was included in the price. they are blaming you and your paperwork for this so an explanation would be good.
Review 25:This is a lovely hotel with friendly and attentive staff.
Review 26:food fantastic.location.
Review 27:better quality in room hospitality tray
Review 28:The setting
Review 29:Poor beds, bedside light was broken, noise from above (plumbing & floorboards), & lack of communication about requirements.

Review 31:Staff friendly and attentive without being obtrusive
Review 32:Relaxing&Friendly

Review 38:Nothing that I didn't like
Review 39:Great service very quick and comforting
Review 40:The view from the bedroom window and the bed.
Review 41:Everything - perfect hotel with wonderful food in lovely surroundings. We will definitely be returning.
Review 42:Some areas looked a bit tired.
Review 43:Friendliness of the staff
Review 44:Noisy children especially in the dining room at breakfast
Review 45:Helpful staff & good food
Review 46:High Quality; staff are professional and the breakfast and dinner was excellent !
Review 47:Could not get mobile or wifi access in our room. They could address the latter, the former is understandable.
Review 48:Great location in the moor, ideal for walks. Very friendly service. Quintessial English cottage feel.
Review 49:Would have been good to have had a reduced rate for single occupancy of one of our rooms.
Review 50:We love the feel of this hotel. It's really welcoming and homelike and in such a great location. Fantastic breakfast in a beautiful dining room. One of the few hotels where I would choose to spend time in the public lounge.
Review 51:The food was good but at the price might have been a little more subtle, but I feel mean even mentioning it as we had such an enjoyable time.
Review 52:Everything. Beautiful place in beautiful setting, charming rooms, friendly staff, a delight.
Review 53:Food quality was very good but dinner menu is repetitive, the same every night apparently throughout the season. Would deter eating in the hotel for dinner.
Review 54:The standard double room was well furnished, large and included a sofa, comfortable, very clean, warm and great views. Car parking was no problem.
Review 55:nothing. The whole stay was perfect.
Review 56:Very comfortable bed. Beautiful room with fantastic bathroom. Food was brilliant had afternoon tea, dinner and breakfast all very high quality. Staff are very professional and also give great service. Thank you Mike & all the team.
Review 57:The tv could have been a little larger and the shower could have been a lot more powerful
Review 58:The location, the room, the bed and the staff were all very good. The food however was superb, the menu made choosing difficult, the food was well cooked, well presented and well served. The mussels in chilli, coconut and coriander were quite simply the best I have ever tasted.
Review 59:Awful breakfasts, argumentative waitress who was pre-occupied with her own self importance anddid not listen. Dirty and damp bath/shower room. Stained carpets.
Review 60:The bed.
Review 61:Absolutely nothing.
Review 62:In a word, everything. From the first sight of the hotel, the room, food, local area, position on Dartmoor and most particularly the staff from the manager to the lovely young lady who worked so hard at the cleaning each day the experiance was worth every penny.
Review 63:The Grounds and Gardens are for everyone to relax in and enjoy. The scenery is amazing. The rooms are quaint and comfortable. Room amenities are well thought out. I like the bookmarks.
Review 64:Nothing to dislike at all
Review 65:Very comfortable, with larger than average and very well-appointed room. The staff were unfailingly helpful and friendly. Dinners in the evening were without exception excellent
Review 66:Spacious very clean comfortable rooms and bed with plenty of linen and towels. Relaxed and friendly feel to the place. Setting with the mill was lovely - would stay again.
Review 67:The showers pressure was a trickle. For me the bed mattress was a bit bouncy.
Review 68:The whole feel of the hotel. That dogs are welcomed and that the owners are too. Staff friendly. Amazing breakfast choice. I liked the two lounges to chill out in and the board games provided. I liked the boot room for the dogs to dry off in after they have been in beautiful stream at the end of the garden. I Loved my cream tea and my two glasses of delicious wine in the sun in the garden. The boys all loved the proper job beer. Everything was well thought out for the pleasure of their guests and furry friends. whether traveling with a dog or not its a great hotel and I have already given the details to my friends.
Review 69:The shower & water pressure could be improved but other than that nothing!!
Review 70:The room was lovely but the best part was the food - outstanding and a reasonably priced wine menu was a bonus
Review 71:Not enough hours in the day to enjoy the wonderful local walks and make the most of the hotel - the comfy sofas in the lounge, the garden and all the delicious food on offer.
Review 72:The fact that our dogs were able to enjoy a wonderful holiday with us in such a luxurious and comfortable hotel. They had great walks close by, we had a fantastic room (best nights sleep for ages), excellent service by all the staff, with nothing too much trouble for them and truly tasty food. While some hotels claim to be "dog friendly" they are really just dog tolerant - the Mill End is truly dog friendly, piles of clean towels in the boot room, spare leads, bowls, dog treats - everything you need. The best dog friendly hotel ever. Can't recommend it enough and will be going back very soon - absolutely love it.
Review 73:Dinner menu didn't suit our tastes and was a little overpriced.
Review 74:Comfortable, peaceful accommodation with private terrace in beautifulcountryside setting. Relaxed atmosphere. Lots of local information.Excellent breakfast.

Review 78:It was so peaceful and just what we needed.
Review 79:Bathroom a bit tired
