Reviews for Best Western Willerby Manor Hotel
Review 1:The room was dark and dated..cobwebs,cold shower and no lift which was not good as had huge suitcase with me for work, also what if you are disabled?
Review 2:The staff were brilliant.really helpful and the food was great
Review 3:Doors are very difficult to close "quietly" and it is almost impossible not to disturb other guests. Directions to help getting around the Hotel could be better. Service in Figs Restaurant a little slow but okay.
Review 4:Pleasant Staff in all areas - particularly those in attendance during Breakfast. Nice clean, well presented Room - the Bathroom was also very clean which is a big plus. Breakfast was more than adequate in both Quality and Quantity.
Review 5:The bed was a pull out from the wall and was low on the floor I tripped over the metal base twice. The mattress was poor. The wardrobes and cupboards were dirty inside.
Review 6:The staff when we arrived were very helpful and pleasant as were the restaurant staff. We also had a lovely individually cooked breakfast. Our room was large and well equipped.
Review 7:The hotel car park needs a proper surface. It was a stone surface and is dirty. My car needs a valet after visiting the hotel.
Review 8:Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, comfortable room and a lovely breakfast.
Review 9:not very well sound proofed. Could hear people walking in room above during the night. Steep stairs at entry and more stairs & narrow corridors to get to room. Not very easy to navigate with 2 heavy suitcases.
Review 10:Breakfast room overlooking lovely gardens.
Review 11:We didn't have a good experience getting back to the hotel after an evening out at a family party. On returning to the hotel at 11.10pm the hotel doors were locked. We rang the bell for the porter for 25 minutes until he finally answered. Just not good enough for this type of hotel having to stand outside for 25 minutes. Not much of an apology the next morning when we reported this. We also feel that the hotel bedrooms and bathrooms are very tired and in need of refurbishment. This is such a shame as we had our wedding reception here 30 years ago and we thought it would be nice to return. Very disappointing.
Review 12:The location was good for a family celebration.
Review 13:I was looking forward to having a room with a luxury bath as advertised and booked, I was given a room with a tiny bath and old wall shower and the water temperature was tepid, very disappointing :(
Review 14:Good value for money. Friendly reception staff, nice rooms, big comfy bed. lots of extra bits and pieces to make stay better :)
Review 15:If you get a big suite in the new bit you are ok, if you get part of the old bit.....oh dear......Paper thin walls, uncomfortable bed, TVs fixed to the walls causing real noise issues for next door rooms, food good though.
Review 16:As soon as I arrived I went to the swimming pool - there was a swimming lesson going on which was fine, that has happened before, but the instructor was so nasty in the way he was speaking to the child he was supposed to be instructing that after about 10 minutes I had to get out feeling very upset for the little boy, I am sure he will dread it in future. I spoke to the receptionist about it, but all she said was as long as the mother was watching and she didn't complain it was fine.
Review 17:The rooms are very big and comfortable, the swimming pool and spa area is wonderful, the staff are generally very nice and the food is excellent.
Review 18:torn duvet cover, rubbish shower, dirty extractor in bathroom
Review 19:Spacious room, comfortable big single beds, friendly staff, good facilities, mostly clean, nice breakfast, good location
Review 20:The mattress! I had a pretty bad nights sleep trying to get comfortable. My leg feels bruised as a result of the mattress. The carpet in the room was clean but is in need of replacement and the room felt a bit dated.
Review 21:The staff were excellent, especially in the restaurant.
Review 22:We stayed the night and the bed was very uncomfortable, much too soft and felt like we wer sleeping on a sponge. Also thort breakfast was overpriced, husband had tea/toast an was still charged £7.50.
Review 23:It was our daughters wedding and everything was well organised and ran very smoothly. Staff wer very polite and attentive.
Review 24:The function room hired by my company was not accessible from the accommodation and we had to go outside and round the building in the cold and the wind. NOT GOOD
Review 25:I stay because of a company function, and I have no complaints about the staff and accommodation. Breakfast good
Review 26:Hardly slept due to heat in the room even after turning off the radiators and opening the windows.
Review 27:Liked the reception upon arrival and how well everything was explained. Easy to book in and pay staff were friendly.
Review 28:Have stayed here 4 times. It is great value,a bit tired, but for £63 p/nt including a comfortable room and a very good b/fast,it's difficult to beat.
Review 29:Was allocated room 114 which had a door through to the next room, it was locked so not concerned about security however tv noise from next door could be heard and i felt our own privacy was compromised. Mattress was very hard.
Review 30:Friendly staff, arranged taxis for us to a meeting. Didnt get chance to use pool or leisure facilities so cannot comment. Breakfast plentyful and hot.
Review 31:The hotel was quite good but getting a bit tired by modern standards. The menu was very limited and if you wanted to eat in for more than a couple of days you would soon run out of choice.
Review 32:Incredibly naff ordering system at dinner in the restaurant (Figs), which requires customers to write down their order. When it came to dessert, after telling the waiter what I wanted, he stood there while I wrote "Cheescake" for him on a small piece of plain paper. Unbelievable.
Review 33:Great value for money - and given a suite as well! Comfortable, spacious room and bathroom Good location Quiet at night Friendly staff Good breakfast
Review 34:Excellent room with comfortable seating area.Clean. Exceptional staff, welcoming and sincerely wanting to make sure you were comfortable. Best breakfast we have had for quite a long time.
Review 35:The bed was so hard it was almost like sleeping on the floor.Staff gave us some extra quilts to put on the mattress, however it was still too hard to sleep on.We would love to return, however won't be doing so because of this reason. Need new mattresses,it's a shame!
Review 36:The reception and restaurant staff were very polite and helpful. The breakfast was cooked to order and excellent. The spa facilities brilliant.
Review 37:The mattresses in our room were lumpy and uncomfortable so didn't have a comfortable nights sleep.
Review 38:The facilities were very good. The reception staff were excellent, but other staff could try to smile a bit more!
Review 39:Only had single beds ,I had broken leg so asked to change, 2 seconds later , nothing available , and it wasn't even 4 pm . No intention of putting twin beds together. duvets were useless , and I only like cold rooms but had to put 2 duvets on bed = blanket Restaurant , you have to write down what you want to eat on a scrap of paper with a pencil , Crayons coming next week
Review 40:NOTHING
Review 41:Bed needed replaced about 3 years ago . Poor menu in bar restaraunt and over priced with no lounge to relax in. hotel dated.
Review 42:breakfast was good staff nice .good shower in bathroom
Review 43:being really picky, carpet looked a tad tired, and not enough draw or wardrobe space, if staying for a while, we stayed 5 nights
Review 44:Beautiful room, quite large, comfortable bed, good hotel. Food and staff excellent. Beautiful Gardens.
Review 45:Room was too warm. Wi Fi a bit of a pain as each time you want it had to log in. My devices usually remember log and auto connect.
Review 46:Lovely room, helpful staff and everything I needed.
Review 47:The bar was basic,I thought the hotel was over priced and the price of the hotel fluctuated. We was at a wedding party and they changed the price on booking .com from £64 - £138. The hotel changed the price when I notifed them off the price difference. Wasn't happy as they were offering discounted price to the wedding party, we still booked through booking .com and paid cheaper. We paid £85 still think was overpriced
Review 48:The room was lovely and clean, the beds and bedding was the best.
Review 49:Carpets in corridors need cleaning. Some of breakfast need a little more training. Used tables left for new guests to occupy.
Review 50:Parking, health club , breakfast.
Review 51:Noise from other guests was appalling in the night. The worst we have ever experienced anywhere. This ruined our stay!Vegetarian dinner options-dire.
Review 52:The lovely staff, very friendly and polite-all through our stay.
Review 53:There was a good choice at breakfast but we found it a bit tasteless, especially the eggs. We didn't eat in the hotel in the evening.
Review 54:The location was ideal for the purpose of our visit.
Review 55:The room had a strange unpleasant smell. No heating instructions No blind on bathroom window- ground floor room Dirty carpets in passage way
Review 56:Location and free car parking
Review 57:Really squeaky floor in the room above us which was a pain especially late at night / early in the morning.
Review 58:Good food, facilities, always enjoy the pool
Review 59:The hotel apart from the leisure facilities needs refurbishing and thepapers did not arrive on the Saturday 26/9. We asked for a discountas we were going to book 7 rooms but no offer so 3 went elsewhere.
Review 60:The rooms were nice but the bed needs replacing asap. 228 Good locationfor exploring the area.
Review 61:The shower kept going hot and cold. Pillows could be better
Review 62:The pool, sauna, steam room and spa was great. Friendly staff. Great restaurant, nice cocktail list too.
Review 63:Staff in restaurant for evening meal and at breakfast seemed to be lacking in training. Didn't appear to be any manager on hand giving guidance.
Review 64:Room very comfortable and clean.
Review 65:Service was very slow at breakfast, order was wrong still waiting for apple juice when checking out 1 hour later. Evening meal was cold & overcharged by £6.00, was altered after pointing out to waiter. No apology or reduction of bill when staff informed.
Review 66:The evening meals to expensive and need a better choice and we were kept waiting too long forty five minutes after two p m before we got our room
Review 67:The breakfasts were freshly cooked and leisure facilities were free
Review 68:Nothing really. Slightly dated in places but not a big deal.
Review 69:V friendly staff. They looked after our bikes and also gave a free upgrade. Quiet room and lovely gardens. Good food too especially the breakfasts.
Review 70:The spider behind the tv......
Review 71:Courtesy shown at all times, all ameneties available in the room, couldn't really want for anything else....home from home.
Review 72:I have stayed here many times in the 1980's have missed it off my list until this year, I cannot see that it is the same place; No dinning room, Lounge no thought gone into it, Bar is more like a town pub wooden tables which you eat and drink from. Staff not sure what they are doing, a lot of money for what you get, I would not stay again. Very poor.
Review 73:Going Home.
Review 74:Interior of room could benefit from a more contemporary feel. Suspected smoking had gone on in the room at some point in the past.
Review 75:Friendly and helpful staff. Location.
Review 76:Would have liked a lounge to relax in after evening meal, with comfy chairs! Thought drinks from bar were expensive.
Review 77:Breakfast and bar-snacks! Swimming pool
Review 78:bottom sheet of bed too small, it didn't cover the mattress, when attempting to remake it I pulled several long black hairs from the mattress -not good.
Review 79:friendly staff, rooms were away from the party area.
Review 80:Fantastic place. Wonderful and helpful staff esp the receptionist. The place was clean, full of character and my room was huge. I loved it. Would go back without a second thought.
Review 81:Evening meal being served in the bar area, would be better in the resteraunt same as breakfast. Wifi kept disconnecting, which was frustrating. Advertised & Booked as half board, on arrival informed there was just a £20 meal allowance per person so had to pay extra for 3 course meal & coffee as £20 was insuffiecent.
Review 82:Staff very friendly, ambiance of bar patio & garden good.
Review 83:Some staff in Brasserie were not actively observant and therefore the service was poor at times.
Review 84:The staff were friendly and helpful. The assistant manager Chris was extremely good at addressing and sorting out problems regarding service. Convenient for Beverly, York and the coast. Easy to get bus into Hull great for free museums.
Review 85:BUILDING WORK NEXT DOOR! STAINED HALLWAY CARPETS. ALLOCATED ROOM FACING SKIP (until allowed to change it ....thank you.
Review 86:leisure facilities, breakfast(but no sugar cubes, please), and some helpful staff.
Review 87:Bathroom ceiling nasty in rm 203 Only 1 chair no table Tv very old and in strange position Bed not in good cond
Review 88:Staff very nice Leisure facilities very good Food nice
Review 89:As the booking was for 2 young people the only negative apparently was the intimittent wifi! A sad sign of the times I'm afraid!
Review 90:They loved the pool sauna spa jacuzzi.....they spent the afternoon there! Their room was an upgrade so they were really happy and comfy. They'd love to come back. Food was to die for and great portions!
Review 91:I think the rooms are in need of updating. very creaky floor boards and thin carpet so i felt like i had to tiptoe round the room. Hair-dryer was not worth having - very weak
Review 92:Staff were very pleasant and the gardens were lovely.
Review 93:Odd being required to write order in restaurant rather than give verbally.
Review 94:All the staff very helpful, room spotless & quiet & food, both restaurant & bar, excellent.
Review 95:The only criticism of the room was the bathroom: Pump to flush notice on toilet. It built up my biceps :) Shower screen could not be opened due to obstruction by the sink, which made turning the shower on and off an exciting challenge.
Review 96:Great friendly staff, wonderful food and service. Easy parking, lovely grounds, a great place to stay outside of Hull - making for easy travel to Beverley and surrounding area. Also of course, Hull is next door. I want that bed! Very comfortable and huge. Breakfasts are super!
Review 97:Passages are dirty. Furniture is old and scratched. Stuffy rooms. Poor brerakfast. Swimming pool was completely occupied by local swimming lessons.
Review 98:Quite place around hotel, nice garder
Review 99:Small portion sizes. My 3yr old daughter's fish & chips was larger than my monk fish cooked 2 ways which had half a dozen skinny fries! The service was very slow & not all staff seemed to be fully trained. That said we enjoyed our dinning experience and the food was lovely.
Review 100:Lovely garden and outdoor terrace. A well maintained & clean hotel with friendly staff.
Review 101:I found the bed very firm
Review 102:The location is excellent, the staff were friendly and attentive, the food was fantastic and the service professional in every respect. I highly recommend the manor. The onsite pool and spa were superb well managed and spotless.
Review 103:The hotel was beautiful very clean and the staff were great. Used the swimming pool etc which again were fantastic. The garden to the rear was lovely whilst enjoying a drink.
Review 104:Bed , mattress had seen better days. Poor wifi. Dinner menu, It would have been easier an quicker if they told me what they did have rather than what the didn't. No diet coke or diet Pepsi. Hotel ???
Review 105:Carpark
Review 106:Not a thing wrong.
Review 107:Relaxed, helpful and polite, it was my first stay here and I will definitely be returning as soon as humanly possible. We were very impressed with the excellent facilities also.
Review 108:Friendly and helpful staff, gave us a room away from the noise of functions as I had my little boy with me. Good facilities: outdoor space, swimming pool inc kids pool, even found a small soft play area! Relaxed dining area. Large spacious room.
Review 109:We were surprised at the ancient practices at this hotel. Breakfast staff did not seem to know what they were doing all vet radiant but disorganised. Desperately needs modernising.
Review 110:Location was good for our family occasion.
Review 111:Nobody had checked the remote control batteries were cellotaped in. Did not like writing what I wanted for dinner on a piece of paper, and being sat in a thorough fare and not in the restaurant especially when there were two weddings and people kept walking past when I was trying to eat my evening dinner.
Review 112:Leisure facilities were excellent. And the room was good.
Review 113:Bed was too soft and lumpy so didn't sleep well at all. Need c Seriously looking into. Kettle in the room very small and not enough condiments.
Review 114:The size of the room was fantastic and view over the garden lovely. At breakfast you couldn't fault the attention from the staff, the food or the view.
Review 115:The staff are always very pleasant. I always stay there because the location is near to where my father lives. As yet I have never had a complaint. Being on my own, the staff make me feel comfortable and welcome.
Review 116:The hotel was a grand house with superb gardens which were obviously maintained with love. It was such a delight to have a scenic view whilst having breakfast in the garden room. The Hotels 'Fig Restaurant ' must be the biggest surprise ...The food was absolutely gorgeous...the three courses we had were all cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. Compliments to the chief! Best meal we have had out in a very long while
Review 117:I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the room we stayed in was clean and spacious with an extremely comfortable bed and the leisure facilities were excellent.
Review 118:Nothing.
Review 119:1) Customer attention and helpfulness of staff. 2) Comfort of facilities and spaciousness of rooms. 3) Quality of food and drink whilst not overcharging.
Review 120:The hotel is close to where my father lives, so I stay there when I visit him. The staff are lovely and very helpful. The food is good and so is the wine.
Review 121:Drinks a bit pricey but there again all hotels are ....
Review 122:We have stayed here several times & we have always had a nice reception,, Everything good especially the food in the bar, I had Fish & Chips which were excellent & my partner had Fillet Steak which she enjoyed very much.. Portions were large so be careful having starters if you are not ravenous!!
Review 123:From the photo of the hotel I did not realize that it had so many steps up to the hotel, my sister has difficulty with climbing stairs and had I known about this before I would probably not have booked.
Review 124:The staff could not have been more helpful, and the room was very quiet which helped me to have a great night's sleep, I would certainly recommend this hotel to everyone.
Review 125:We were upgraded to the honeymoon suite which was lovely - particularly the bathroom with whirlpool bath, jet shower, slate floor etc. The gardens were beautifully kept and we really enjoyed a walk around them.
Review 126:There was a distinct lack of signs in changing room for ease of access to pool and other facilities. A costume dryer would have been helpful.
Review 127:The swimming pool, steam and sauna room were excellent.
Review 128:One major problem this hotel has no lounge area for residents, so after a meal you cannot relax with a drink anywhere.
Review 129:Competitive price, breakfast especially good quality, rooms good facilities.
Review 130:Very little really. Picky I know but the pillows were very flat.
Review 131:A lovely welcome from the young lady on reception and the two young men waiting on tables for breakfast. I only stayed one night and didn't eat in the hotel other than breakfast.
Review 132:Minor niggles. Wifi was difficult to logon to with laptop and shower hose leaked badly which made for a poor shower.
Review 133:Staff were friendly and polite. Very comfortable room and excellent food.
Review 134:Nothing what so ever
Review 135:Have stayed here previously and love this hotel!. Staff very friendly cannot do enough for you. Rooms lovely, location great, food lovely and value for money.
Review 136:Only one comment about Breakfast. The staff were helpful and took our order for the main breakfast; however, no sooner did we start our starter (cereal/fruit) then the waiter brought the hot meal instead of being aware what the customers were eating and waiting for us to finish before bringing the plate with B&E. This was for everyone that i saw who ordered breakfast.
Review 137:The staff were attentive and helpful. Food was very good and a good selection in the Bistro. Breakfast (traditional B&E) was served rather than self service. Value for money.
