Reviews for Days Inn Bridgend Cardiff

Review 1:Not the fault of the hotel but the room above had some sort of party which kept us awake. We informed reception and moved rooms immediately. Scott who works on reception was amazing!

Review 2:The room was very clean and surprisingly spacious. Scott who works on reception was really friendly, very professional and really helpful when we encountered an issue. Great staff.

Review 3:Long walk to shopping centre, access could be better ,IE paved walkway towards the bridge, instead of muddy field and more info on how long it actually takes,I took my elderly dad who almost didn't make the walk up the hill! and we had to get a cab back best option by far in the rain. Advise customers on this especially infirm ones.

Review 4:Quiet rooms solidly built makes a change

Review 5:Poor directions from motorway. Continental breakfast from a takeaway???? Would have got wet through due to poor weather as no facilities within the hotel. Didn't order room service breakfast as we were unsure where it was comming from and what was included in the menu. Curtains hanging offf rail. Poor quality pillows. Shabby bed settee in room. Sparse, poor quality fixtures and fittings. Very basic accomodation Corridor to smoking rooms stank, smoking room even worse! Changed to non smoking room for the sake of my husband who is non smoker. Even I, as the smoker would not have been able to sleep in there!!! I could go on!!! Certainly would not use Days Inn again or recommend to anyone let alone my Friends!!!!

Review 6:Friendly staff

Review 7:Only facility in immediate vicinity was petrol station, places to eat etc were other side of motorway where you either needed a vehicle to reach or to cross muddy field at rear of hotel which was saturated and slippy and difficult even if you are agile, then crossing very narrow 100ft high bridge over six lanes of traffic, not an option we chose.

Review 8:Very modest cost, good room, lovely shower.

Review 9:Negotiating the roundabouts to reach the hotel a nightmare, especially during rush hours.

Review 10:The ease to come and go during our 4 days as and when we wanted. The friendliness of the staff.

Review 11:Fire alarms went off at 11.30 pm no staff informed us it was a false alarm causing my son to be woken and was upset and scared as didn't understand what was going on had to go down myself and find out not staffs fault but maybe if they let people no why and a bit of reassuring would of been nice as only myself and son staying alone

Review 12:Good friendly staff clean environment good parking WiFi mot great but only used it as a Base to sleep at

Review 13:As I guessed the room would have a strong smell of stale tobacco, ( something you rarely got before the smoking ban) I brought my own can of odour eliminating spray and opened the windows, problem solved in no time. Just because we smoke doesn't mean we want to live with the smell of dirty ashtray's. Come on Day's just one extra step (air freshener and open the windows) and you've cracked it. I would happily pay an extra £1 for the cost and effort.

Review 14:Great to find a place to stay where you can still have a smoking room, The staff were very nice and the room was clean.

Review 15:A lift would have been handy, carrying heavy cases upstairs a bit difficult. Room could have had a second chair, the sofa was past its use by date

Review 16:Lovely, friendly and helpful staff, quiet location, easy to find. Nice big room plenty of room for all our luggage

Review 17:the harvester is a 5 minute walk away and so is frankie and bennies but there is no way to walk there. The hotel is great for people travelling long distances, lorry drivers etc. But for us it was a bit out of the way and if u do t want a Burger King and do t want to drive, you won't be eating.

Review 18:Staff at reception, nice girl

Review 19:Access to Cardiff needed taxis but otherwise ok

Review 20:Rugby World Cup trip with friends - accommodation difficult to get close to Cardiff. Clean, friendly, comfortable beds.

Review 21:Didn't like fact was out up stair and there no lift so when u got a baby with pushchair and car seat and suit case it hard work going up and down stair won't to please that they never had a sit down bar/lounge as in web site it say entertainment and dj when they don't have that as they only got bottle of bear at there reception hotel was a bit out the way for use as we don't drive so was hard to get around

Review 22:Nice hotel, room where big so that was good as I have a 13 month old baby so she had enough room to crawl around staff very Friendly

Review 23:cleanliness, comfort, value for money, helpful welcoming staff, excellent facilities - inc tea/coffee in rooms etc. & close to porthcawl for Elvis festival weekend!

Review 24:Room wasn't ready. Greeted with "Hi Guys" Requested cooked breakfast none available but weren't advised on initial request. Lack of enough milk for drinks. Settee and chair was dirty. Curtains were hanging off rail.

Review 25:The room provided everything we needed for our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. The price was right, and most important of all, you take dogs!

Review 26:Having to go home!

Review 27:Great location for travelling about. Just off the M4 so easy to find and get to places. Minimal traffic noise heard from the room. Extremely helpful, friendly staff. Rooms clean, fresh suitably sized. Ample wardrobe space. Lovely powerful shower in a nice sized bathroom. We were recommended an excellent local pub for an evening meal. An easy 10 minute walk to a friendly local with great food. Made a good stay great. Already planning a return trip next year.

Review 28:It was quite near the motorway and so there was some traffic noise noticeable in the morning. This was not a major problem though.

Review 29:It was a very convenient location for visiting relations in Maesteg before travelling on the next morning to visit family near Cardigan.

Review 30:Family room wasn't ready due to us booking online it didn't go through and also family room should be on the ground floor as children kept running around and had complaint

Review 31:Spacious and comfy

Review 32:Bathroom floor was never cleaned.Green shaving foam residue on floor when we arrived.Still there when we left.Bathroom a bit smelly.

Review 33:hotel was near job.Plates and utensils provided for food and means of heating.Ample tea and coffee.

Review 34:if I am being picky it needs a paint, however I am I painter and decorator so I probably notice it more as my partner thinks it was fine

Review 35:loved the shower, amount of tea and coffee and the staff were great.

Review 36:Our children were in a triple room. Unfortunately there were no spare pillows, and only 2 cups and 2 biscuits. This was quickly rectified, however, when I asked at reception, so not a serious problem.

Review 37:The rooms were clean. Tea and coffee facilities with help yourself replacements. A quiet location. 24/7 reception.

Review 38:Slightly difficult to find as tucked away from the main service station. Would be nice to have a restaurant facility.

Review 39:Convenient location, decent price for a family and fine for a no nonsense stop over

Review 40:The only item wrong, the bathroom door could not be closed. The bath waste was so blocked, when you showered, you stood in about 100 mm of waste water

Review 41:All was expected to be as it was, nice, comfortable, clean. No problems. Apart from bath/shower room

Review 42:The single bed was a bit narrow, some of the fixtures are showing their age.

Review 43:Very clean and tidy & staff were very friendly and helpful. Good value for the money.

Review 44:The Staff we're fantastic! They gave great advice on where to eat and overall very very friendly. I was expecting a 1 star run down establishment, okay... its not the ritz but I was very pleased with the service that i received and thought that value for money was certainly achieved. Bed was very comfortable.

Review 45:It's a shame there isn't a restaurant on site, but there is a toaster and microwave in reception which helps when you have hungry children in the morning!

Review 46:Location of hotel was excellent. Many shops and restaurants nearby. Barry island and Cardiff were both within about 30 minutes distance. Room was clean daily housekeeping, nice to stay with the kids.

Review 47:We booked a family room. Extra beds were not made up. There was no quilt for these beds and all ended up in the main bed. We had hardly no sleep. Very disappointed

Review 48:stayed here with grandchildren 4 of us in the room but only supplied 2 towels went to reception and got more on first night but they had run out on second night

Review 49:staff very friendly and helpful

Review 50:The location was surprisingly quiet & pleasant, considering it is so close to the motorway. There was 24 hour reception, which made it perfect for a night's sleep after arriving from the Irish ferry in Pembroke Docks & driving for an hour or so.

Review 51:Had to pay extra for a family room which was no different to the double rooms we booked. We're put into smoking rooms when we weren't even advised that this was an option - how is this even legal in this day and age? Surely it's a public place where smoking is prohibited?

Review 52:It was fine

Review 53:I liked the fact that for a small place every room was equipped with tea and coffee making facilities. There was soft drinks, sweets etc for sale in reception if you wanted them. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help. There was a free taxi phone in reception and a taxi would turn up in less than 5 minutes. Within walking distance of the retail outlet. Very good location

Review 54:I think the room could be done up a bit more, it was pretty plain and not a lot of colour and the only decor in the room was a small canvas. I didn't quite feel like the stay was worth £64

Review 55:I liked the space of the room. I loved the shower I liked having the option of a second smaller bed. I also liked how quiet it was

Review 56:Very helpful and friendly Staff. Quiet location and just what we needed after a long drive I think a small Dining area for Breakfast would be good to save going into the Service area (which we didn't) and stopping at Pont Abraham (which is such a rip off place!)

Review 57:The lovely lady who went out of her way to accomidate our family all in one room as we didnt want to be seperated. Also everybody was really helpful and friendly to our puppy.

Review 58:Only 2 electric sockets in the room, primarily for tv and kettle. Could do with a couple more for mobile device charging. No aircon and no fans available from reception.

Review 59:Very convenient location, next to M4, excellent retail outlet and eating places 5 minutes away. Handy for Cardiff, Swansea and south Wales coast.

Review 60:The amount of stains! Stains on the couch, couldn't sit on it. Stains on the chair, couldn't sit on it. Stains to the bed base, very unpleasant. The bed linen seemed a bit tired too. Thankfully the carpet seemed clean enough though.

Review 61:Easy parking, easy to get to, excellent staff, extra coffee/sugar/milk is made available easily too.

Review 62:earplugs, forgot to bring them. par for the course when booking a hotel by the motorway in that you can hear the motorway....not a biggy at all.

Review 63:straight forward transaction. friendly staff on arrival. no dramas. really enjoyed the stay actually ! thanks

Review 64:Vary close to the m4. no way to get to the harvester unless you use your car .

Review 65:The staff where good vary happy in they work .the lady's that cleaned the rooms where brilliant.

Review 66:Nothing

Review 67:The lady on reception when we arrived don't know her name but she had shortish blonde hair and she explained everything well to me including where to find or ask for anything extra like towels etc she was extremely friendly and kind and complimented my little boys looks and hair so was an all round lovely one night stay with a warm clean comfy room I will defo stay again when I next visit Wales thank you.

Review 68:I liked how friendly the staff were and how the cleaning staff were of a high standard the location was gd as there was a shopping within walking distance round the back path i would definitely stay again if i was in this area .

Review 69:We had to make up the sofa bed for he kids when we arrived.. And that means finding bed linen, and a duvet, then making the bed from anything we could find..

Review 70:Location is ok

Review 71:I left early for a business conference to return 11 hours later to find my door had been left ajar by the cleaners, fortunately nothing had been taken but I immediately felt I had lost any trust in the hotel. The man on reception was very apologetic and said he would investigate.

Review 72:Close location to nearby designer outlet and restaurants. Quiet location Good sized room

Review 73:Only 1 single socket for a room that can sleep 3 people? And it's on the wrong side of the room for charging your phone whilst you sleep which pretty much the whole world does! Also nice big room really small television!

Review 74:Big room. Clean and comfortable. Friendly staff.

Review 75:Why when you ask for extra pillows have they always run out surely this would imply they need to have more !! Also even though it states non smoking the corridor always smelt heavily of smoking

Review 76:Lovely welcome, room spotlessly clean, bed comfortable, breakfast good value and served on time requested.Extra tea coffee and milk always available .towels,shampoo/shower wash /hairdryer all provided.Staff so friendly and helpful .I would def reccomend Days Inn Bridgend.Good location for shopping outlet.

Review 77:Although the shower was not very powerful, it did the job. The only real downside was the lack of plug sockets near to the bed, which made using mobiles phones as an alarm a bit difficult.

Review 78:Staff were very friendly. Hotel as a whole was clean and inviting which made the stay even more enjoyable. Room was spacious with plenty of storage and room to get ready etc. The bed was very comfortable especially with the extra duvets and pillow that were available. Overall we were made very comfortable during the stay and would definitely recommend to anyone!

Review 79:The staff were all lovely the cleaning staff we absolutely fantastic the atmosphere was relaxed everybody was happy all the time great stay will be staying again many thanks

Review 80:Despite paying £10.00 extra for an early check in between 12.30 and 1.00 p.m. when we arrived there were no pillows in the room and no drinking mugs. This is not the first time we have paid extra for an early check in to find the room not ready on arrival.

Review 81:Comfortable bed, new shower, clean bedsding.

Review 82:The staff were not at the reception desk, whenever I went there.. And no bell to summon them. The sofa bed was broken and not attached to the wall, so difficult to pull out. Not enough sheets or pillows to make up the sofa bed and the room was unclean, including tea stains around bin in bathroom and squashed fly on bedroom mirror. Will stay at the travelodge next time

Review 83:Had to sleep with window open because of smell. My fault for not seeing it was a smoking room. At least I've now learnt to check. Not a criticism of hotel just to highlight smoking hasn't been banned in all public places

Review 84:A little basic decor.

Review 85:Quiet and everything you need is at hand, staff are very friendly and accommodating. Easy walk to local pub and easy motorway access with services close by. Ideal for anyone visiting McArthur Glen retail outlet.

Review 86:the only critisment is we never had clean bedding through out are six days at this hotel lucky we are a very clean people

Review 87:location was very good for are needs

Review 88:Duvet stinking smell of drugs in corridors staff said didn't feel comfortable poor customer service man at desk eating. No sheets provided poor experience not happy

Review 89:Location that's it

Review 90:We stayed in room 13 and there was a shower not a bath. The shower seemed to be fairly new and whilst the size of the shower was fine, we had a little difficulty opening the shower doors as they did not slide very easily.

Review 91:The room and bed were very comfortable and extra pillows were provided in the room.

Review 92:The shower was plumbed in back to front so hot was cold and cold was hot not a major issue

Review 93:Easy and quiet location friendly staff comfy bed overall very good coming back for another 3 nights over Easter bank holiday:))

Review 94:The pillows were a bit hard for me and the TV could have been 32" not 22" (size matters when we are talking Tv's!)

Review 95:The shower was fantastic.

Review 96:Sofa bed was not made up on arrival had to pull it out ourselves and make it up as well. Member of staff had a bad back. Not want what you want after being delayed in traffic two hours.

Review 97:Great shower

Review 98:Kenco coffee sachets - I couldn't get them open without a massive struggle!

Review 99:Quiet. Clean. Convenient - very near Motorway. Had all basic services needed for one night stay in comfort. I slept really well. Nice biscuits in room.

Review 100:I asked for Breakfast the guy said £4.95, I said could I have Orange Juice no he said we are out of it, could I have some Crossants... no out of those as well only toast, it was served in the room with no table and 1 chair....Terrible..... the worst we have ever seen.

Review 101:The rooms were big but bland, Staff were OK, total marks 1 out of 10

Review 102:Offer of breakfast was to be eaten in the room but only one chair was provided. We would have had to have eaten on the bed. There was nowhere high to put the kettle so we couldn't use it until our little one was fast asleep. Expensive for just a bed!

Review 103:Staff seemed nice and offered the use of a different room when we reported that our shower was only providing a drip of water. It was based on a different floor though so not very practical with our young baby. Good car park. We had a gorgeous breakfast in Frankie and Benny's.

Review 104:The bed base was broken, the floor was was very very dirty. It needs the carpets deep cleaning. Also the net in the window kept falling down.

Review 105:Staff were absolutely lovely and nothing was too much trouble.

Review 106:The shower didn't work properly it was either blasting water out or trickling, scum marks around the bath. Bed was horrendous, lumpy soft and leaning in the middle as the base was broken. The sofa bed was dirty and stained. TV will not stand straight and was constantly at an angle. Not enough tea milk and coffee in the rooms, you had to go to reception to help yourself.

Review 107:Size of room was good and staff were friendly. Towels were lovely and sheet were spotlessly clean.

Review 108:I was outraged to receive a parking fine when I had legitimately parked overnight at your hotel. When I contacted your hotel they advised they would get the charge cancelled. I asked them to confirm this by e mail. They have not done this and I am still being chased for the incorrect fine. Naturally this has completely sowered my view of Days hotel at Bridgend.

Review 109:After booking an early check-in both through the online booking form and phoning the hotel to make sure, the room was NOT ready even though we were almost an hour later than we had hoped. The cleaning staff were nowhere to be seen even though they had left their trolly outside our room and all the dirty laundry inside the room. When we did track them down they were quite dismissive that they hadn't finished and were working their way through. The reception staff were most appologetic and we waited at the bottom of the stairs until the room was ready.

Review 110:Booking was very easy and I phoned the hotel to ensure early check in was possible. Reception staff were extremely helpful on arrival. Once we were into the room it was clean and tidy with a good stock of tea/coffee etc. Very quiet and a good night sleep. A very pleasant stay.

Review 111:Older decor, could use an update.

Review 112:Perfect location, close to all major attractions in South Wales. Quiet and clean, a decent budget motel. Shopping and food very close by.

Review 113:Our room and the upstairs corridor stunk of cigarette smoke. The sofabed that my son slept in has seen far better days.

Review 114:Both receptionists we came across on our stay wereexcellent, polite, very helpful and very cheerful. Real nice people, onefemale On the Saturday evening and a male on the Sunday morning. Youshould be very proud of them.

Review 115:The room was not made up for our arrival. The cleanliness of the room especially the linen was dirty and the furniture was inadequate for a family room. It felt like somebody threw a sofa bed in a double room and charged at a family room rate.

Review 116:Receptionist was very helpful

Review 117:Very soft, uncomfortable bed. No shower gel in dispenser in shower, which was difficult when you don't have soap, either.

Review 118:Staff helpful, price reasonable, easy parking. Rooms light and airey.

Review 119:no pubic house and restaurant close by.

Review 120:staff were very helpful and couldn't do enough for us. we had two nights stay which was very quiet at night, so we had good nights sleep

Review 121:When we arrived at our room, I was quite upset to find it was a smoking room and the smell was atrocious. Our room was changed eventually after some excuse making about being fully booked.

Review 122:hairdryer unreliable and ? fan in ensuite not working. These were minor inconveniences and we would stay there again.

Review 123:Clean quiet room, bed comfortable, staff friendly and helpful. Budget friendly.

Review 124:The main bed mattress was too soft, therefore, because of i have lower back pain, I slept on the sofa bed. This was also not very comfortable. Please provide good beds so it would be more comfortable to sleep. No lift.

Review 125:Staff.

Review 126:room very sparse, no breakfast, stayed 1 week bedding never changed. though towels were. for the cost expensive for what you got

Review 127:Travel to locaton for business was good, good location for shops too

Review 128:There is a strange mild odour, a bit like stale sweat, throughout the whole hotel.

Review 129:The staff are friendly and cherful. The rooms are clean and pretty much what you would expect.

Review 130:On phoning to book direct was told they couldn't match the booking. Com price !! Which was £11.60 cheaper what would you do !!

Review 131:Friendly staff , check in and out so easy , very helpfull

Review 132:Paid extra money for a family room and when i arrived only a double room available - showed booking email and they made up a pull out bed but the bed sheets didnt even cover the stained dirty 'materess'. I would never stay with childen again.
