Reviews for The Malvern Hills Hotel

Review 1:Everything. Excellent food and lovely spacious room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Also accommodating for dogs and perfect location for walking the hills. This is the third year in a row that we have stayed

Review 2:Hotel was extremely hot and so had to have windows open full. One member of staff in the bar, on ordering food gave a sarcastic and rude response on where we were sitting.

Review 3:The bar/restaurant food was lovely. Breakfast staff were amazing! Very attentive despite it being very busy.

Review 4:No WiFi in bedroom. Walls very thin between rooms.

Review 5:Lovely decor in the room and bathroom, comfy bed. Good location for walking/hiking. Nice breakfast. Free car park. WiFi in pub.

Review 6:I booked a king size superior room at a cost of £140 per night but the room was disappointing , it was clean and comfortable but it was far from superior, I've stayed in better rooms at a travel lodge for £39 per night,

Review 7:The bar and restaurant is nice

Review 8:No wi-fi available in bedrooms and parts of the restaurant. Would be really nice if there was a bar lounge where you could sit, read and have a drink. All the space was taken up with tables for dining.

Review 9:Staff very friendly, clean room and comfy bed, very good breakfast. Across the road from British Camp which was very convenient for walking. Only stayed one night.

Review 10:Breakfast over cooked and poorly presented. Room very cold on arrival, tea/coffee hadn't been replenished.

Review 11:Location. Staff very friendly and efficient Large room and bathroom.

Review 12:Relaxed, friendly, comfortable atmosphere. Staff were all efficient, courteous and welcoming. Nothing too much trouble. Good menu with excellent food.

Review 13:Nothing

Review 14:Good value for money. The room was very clean with a recently refurbished interior and bathroom. Very quiet and a good nights sleep in a comfy bed. Excellent breakfast. And great staff.

Review 15:Perversely, too far away from any other facilities, towns etc, always had to dive anywhere...can't have both perhaps.

Review 16:Good sized rooms, hotel in a beautiful location. Food very good.

Review 17:The room was on the front of the hotel and quite warm so we slept with the bathroom window open, but this meant that we also heard the traffice through the night

Review 18:The breakfast was excellent

Review 19:Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant and bar service were excellent. The manager was very good and helpful. We would go back and recommend to our friends.

Review 20:England lost the match !!

Review 21:We were a family group of 8 aged between 89 and 7 weeks who converged on the Malvern Hills for a weekend to celebrate a 60th birthday. We had a great time ! They even arranged the birthday dinner around a TV so the birthday boy could watch the rugby.

Review 22:Twin room 105 very spacious and pleasant. Excellent Vu dining room and good menu with sauces, jus etc expertly made with delicacy & care. Very good range of proper English beer in the bar. Breakfast superb ~~ undyed smoked haddock way above usual quality elsewhere.

Review 23:Fabulous in every way. Beautifully clean and well appointed room, friendly staff, fantastic food and the most wonderful breakfast. The icing on the cake was the perfect spot in which the hotel is situated. Loved that we were able to take our dog and given a room with ease of access to the back lawned area. We will certainly be staying again soon.

Review 24:There is no mobile signal, wifi or anything throughout the hotel - in this day, it is a requirement and to have to venture out in the car to make a phone call is not good.

Review 25:The location was brilliant - the staff are excellent and very friendly. The breakfast was served from menu, not a buffet style but lovely

Review 26:The free Wifi wasn't good in some parts of the hotel. However, we didn't really need it that much!

Review 27:The staff were amazing, really friendly and happy to help at any time. The food was really good, breakfast was also really nice.

Review 28:bed very hard and after walking miles didnt help with a good nights sleep

Review 29:great location for walking the hills and only ten minutes to great malvern, lovely hotel !!!

Review 30:No bad experience

Review 31:We have stayed at this hotel many times usually breaking our journey between the north of England and Cardiff,it never disappoints. On this occasion we were delayed on the M6 due to torrential rain and road works. I rang and spoke to a member of staff and we were able to choose from the menu,we chose our favourite, trio of sausages, mash and red wine gravy, just what we needed after our journey. The sat nav gave us an ETA of 9pm,by 9.15 we were tucking into a delicious meal timed to be ready for our arrival. We spent a restful night in a lovely room, the beds are so comfortable,we have slept in many of them. The breakfast as always substantial and cooked to order. We love this hotel, the location is stunning amidst the glorious Malvern Hills,we always wish we could stay longer to explore this beautiful area. A warm welcome, good food, comfortable beds, stunning views what more could we want.

Review 32:Problems with the WiFi at the time of our last visit - however, 'management' did their best to get it fixed!

Review 33:Consistently friendly, genuine & helpful staff. A great inclusive atmosphere & always busy but service/quality never compromised.

Review 34:A very comfortable and friendly place to stay. The staff could not have been more helpful and attentive. The food was excellent and the view from the restaurant was breathtaking. We will be back!

Review 35:noisy fellow guests early hours. Appreciate they had been to wedding, but should have been asked to keep it down. They even knocked on our door looking for someone. Lack of interest shown by lady in reception when we complained of lack of hot water in shower. "Well that room is usually very good" was her only reply.

Review 36:Location ; waitresses, bar staff etc. Restaurant.

Review 37:There was no variety of food to choose from. Simple and usual basic stuff. There should be more variety to attract more clients. A must.! Network for mobiles indoors were utterly useless. No reception at all whatsoever and one has to leave the comfort of your room to go out in order to make calls. Really dire!. Rooms should be aired by leaving windows opened in order for air to circulate as our room was very stale when we first entered and had to open the windows to let in air for about 35mins before we were able to settle Very important.

Review 38:Bathrooms were very clean and nicely done up with good quality tiles which creates a nice ambience in the bathroom. water temperature was also good for bathing. . Bed was comfortable and had a goodnight sleep. Views was absolutely gorgeous and we went for a little walk up the hills. The beauty is what actually makes Malvern Hills very attractive to clients.

Review 39:Really Poor WiFi. All of us (5 people) had issues with connectivity -either there was none, or it was really slow and dropped out frequently.Maybe not a business hotel, so considered less of an issue, but I wouldlook for a different hotel on this basis in the future. Also the hotelhas a 3 day?? Cancellation policy, and insisted on charging a colleaguethe full rate when he cancelled his last night 2 days before - this isnot playing the game and again, I would consider looking or a hotelwithout such punitive rules in the future (we were a group of 5, so thehotel more than got its money out of us).

Review 40:Nice views from some rooms (not mine) Good comfortable bed, very cleanbathroom with good toiletries, great big towels. Great Full Englishbreakfast!

Review 41:The lady at the front desk was incredibly kind and helpful to my mother who was tasked with looking after my lively 3 year old whilst my wife and I attended a wedding.

Review 42:Really understaffed. Waited ages at reception, no-one answering room service calls. Unfriendly greeting on arrival, pretty much like we'd put them out at arriving early. Got locked in room, and had to call reception to get us out - Yale lock faulty. Thankfully someone answered the phone this time.

Review 43:Spacious room.

Review 44:A suggestion like another guest made would be to put an electric socket near the mirror in the bedroom to facilitate hair drying!.

Review 45:Liked the location for ease of accessing footpaths and the quality of the cooking and helpfulness of the staff.

Review 46:No plug socket near mirror for hair styling

Review 47:Stunning Location Very comfortable bed and linen Excellent food and service in restaurant Complimentary water Plenty of hot water from shower

Review 48:Only thing about the room was the bay window. The double glazed units were blown, so they were misted up and had a lot of dew between the panes.which spoiled the great views.

Review 49:One of the best things is the hotel is right on the Malvern hills you walk out of the door and off you go. The rooms clean fresh and resently decorated to a high standard, the breakfasts are excellent, the restaurant and bar food are really nice, and there's a great out door seating area, and you can take your dog with you to.

Review 50:Over priced. Would have been happy to pay £80.00 not the £120.00. Nothing special. Ok breakfast, but nothing special. No eggs royal or benedict no tomatoes juice etc, no indication that you could ask for anything different. Very little in the way of room extras like toiletries (not enough for one nights stay (just one small bottle of lotion and shower gel between two of us) and drinks tray - just basic coffee and tea (quite disappointed). For us the location had too much road noise, being just off the main road (but we do come from a quiet area ourselves, so maybe ok for others) Overall the hotel was nice enough but not worth the price, I expected something special for the price.

Review 51:Nice, clean, pretty room. But nothing special. Good parking. Easy to find just off main road.

Review 52:Nothing.

Review 53:We ate in the restaurant with some friends one of whom has a few tricky food allergies, the waiter was on top form and spoke with the Chef regarding which dishes were suitable for here, top service, great food and a lovely setting.

Review 54:Excellent comfortable room with separate power shower, very friendly, helpful staff, very good dinner, amazing breakfast. Free wifi ( slow). Plenty of parking spaces. Lots of walks on door step.

Review 55:Great hotel, opposite lovely walks in the Malvern Hills. Large, clean bedroom. Fantastic food and the staff managed to accommodate us in the the restaurant even though table had been booked in the bar! Nothing too much trouble!

Review 56:Not enough bed covers/blankets, only one spare so it was cold. Was told they had started their summer bed linen. No heating in bathroom. Was not told about electric switch in wardrobe until I complained in morning. Waiter gave wrong order to kitchen for dinner, waited 15 minutes for pudding menu and had to remind waiter.

Review 57:Value, lovely room.

Review 58:The hotel is in an excellent location for walking the Malvern Hills. The bar, restaurant and service were very good, and the room comfortable and clean

Review 59:At no point were we made to feel that having the dog with us was an intrusion, if anything we and happy hound were served breakfast in the bar lounge with personal service and so felt we were given preferential treatment. Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff!

Review 60:The hotel was well-maintained and clean. The staff were very obliging and friendly. Good to have a choice of where to eat restaurant/dining room/bar. Room was a mini-suite and had a nice view over the Malverns. Couldn't fault it. Will definitely go there again.

Review 61:wifi best reception in the hotel was in the breakfast room and the bar, not a problem for us It is located on a day time busy junction.

Review 62:The Staff are very attentive, the cleaning staff keep the place spotless. The meals are very good. Its location is ideal for walkers.

Review 63:The person on the desk wasn't very welcoming when we first arrived and left us to struggle with our bags through the heavy fire doors. A shame because most of the other staff were very pleasant..

Review 64:The location was just what we were looking for.

Review 65:I would change the curtain railing that overlooks the tables area....higher and wider in order to cover the strong light coming in from the outside light....

Review 66:The staff is efficient and polite, bueatufully fitted room 107,

Review 67:Looks like the whole hotel had been totally refurbished recently. Our twin room was excellent - lovely decor and furniture. Ensuite new, white, bright. Decor in other areas very thoughtfully done to a high standard.

Review 68:Rooms were tired and faded, need a lick of paint and sprucing up. Bed wasn't properly made and there was a used tissue under the pillow - looked as though they weren't ready for us even though we arrived two hours after the advertised opening time for checking in. Room unbearably hot all day and night even with window open - hardly slept. Restaurant also way too hot, hate to think what it'll be like in high summer!

Review 69:Excellent food in restaurant

Review 70:WiFi was not advertised but was readily available for free when you asked

Review 71:Very smart furnishings etc, of high quality. Efficient and friendly staff, good food and very generous breakfasts. Good parking. Ideal location for Three Counties Showground.

Review 72:The room decor is a bit old fashioned, but all functional and clean. Would have liked wifi.

Review 73:The restaurant was good and the breakfast waitress was lovely.

Review 74:The car park is quite small and can't accommodate the volume of traffic using the bar/restaurant and hotel.

Review 75:The location is excellent with access to walking on the hills and beautiful views. The rooms were well decorated, clean and comfortable. There is a good selection of food at breakfast which is cooked to order. There is a bar and restaurant that have the same menu so you can choose the more casual surroundings of the bar or the smarter restaurant without compromising quality. The staff are efficient, very friendly and keen to please.

Review 76:We've been fortunate enough to stay in some fabulous 5 star hotels all over England and this hotel should be among them.can not fault in anyway.

Review 77:What's not to like about this place.that good we've booked again for June.FANTASTIC IN EVERY WAY WHEN YOUR TRAVELLING WITH OR WITHOUT A PET.

Review 78:The dinner in the restaurant was very poor and over-priced. The atmosphere and decor were that of a chain, with no individuality or personal touches, unlike the hotel we stayed at the following night.

Review 79:The staff were extremely nice and helpful.

Review 80:We had the family room which overlooked the car park but having the separate bedroom for the children was worth it. More hotels should offer this.

Review 81:Superb location right by the Herefordshire Beacon and only minutes drive from the North Hill and Worcestershire Beacon.

Review 82:Wifi not very good

Review 83:Could find any fault with this hotel, excellent facilities, stayed for 2 day's as we were at cheltenham races, excellent food staff were very attentive nothing was to much trouble

Review 84:Only one tiny thing , we ordered a roast pork for our dinner Sunday evening and the potatoes were reheated so felt a bit disappointed .

Review 85:Loved all of it. Clean friendly , lovely location

Review 86:It's probably a bit too pricey (room was lovely) for what it was. Would expect bath robes and a little fridge/mini bar for that price. Room was very hot and the outside lights were on all night, both if which made sleeping difficult

Review 87:Right in the hills so brilliant for just heading out the door and walking. Delicious breakfasts and suppers. Friendly staff and very helpful, nice room.

Review 88:Terrific location next to the hills. Friendly and obliging staff. We ate there both evenings and food excellent as was the service. Lovely large room and bathroom, even though we were facing the road it was very quiet.

Review 89:just a minor thing - couldn't find a Wi-Fi code in the room information not sure whether Wi-Fi was offered at all

Review 90:Excellent breakfast and exceptionally friendly and obliging staff

Review 91:The room above ours was very noisy with loud music playing until about 12.30, not good when you want to go to sleep!! We stayed in room 103.

Review 92:The staff are very pleasant the hotel clean and good parking.

Review 93:We were moved from the room originally allocated on booking which was the one we wanted, so if you want a specific room make sure you request it on the booking.

Review 94:Comfortable and stylish hotel with character and great service. Good food in dining room with lovely view.

Review 95:The hotel was extremely friendly and the food was beyond excellent both at dinner and breakfast. WE were however disappointed that the room although a deluxe double was very small with an outlook over a roof. This may be because we did book very late.

Review 96:Wifi very slow. Although the breakfast and dinner menus sounded lovely, our experience was that the food was variable in quality.

Review 97:Lovely room with excellent ensuite. Great location to walk over the Malvern Hills, and to visit local towns of Malvern and Ledbury.

Review 98:That I could not stay for a longer period of time

Review 99:Peace and quiet outside hotel and inside inside hotel. Room was spacious and no noise which is always a bonus. Could not fault the food, good value for money and all staff attentive and ready for a laugh.

Review 100:We stopped over on our way to visit family in Leicester and the Malvern Hills could not have been a more fortuitous find. The staff were friendly and efficient, the rooms clean and well decorated and the food excellent. We will certainly use this hotel again.

Review 101:This hotel is in a beautiful location, the room we stayed in was nicely decorated and the beds comfortable. The bar and dining room are very welcoming and the food was good. The staff were very helpful and super friendly. We would definitely stay here again.

Review 102:It would have been nice if there had been a comfy lounge to relax in.

Review 103:The rooms were very spacious and clean and the food was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful, they couldn't do enough for you and the location was perfect. We took our little dog who was made totally welcome.

Review 104:The wifi is on there but it is incredibly slow in all areas of the hotel which is very frustrating. The tv switched itself on and off at will. There were rips in the bedsheets as well as a blood smear on one pillow cover. All these little things as well as a few others really brought the stay down and detracted from what is a lovely quaint hotel.

Review 105:The location was fantastic as well as the restaurants, breakfast & room. A very welcoming staff group and a lovely atmosphere.

Review 106:The hotel is having an extension built at present[February 2015]which does not help

Review 107:Cheerful and flexible staff.Dinner first class;imaginative and well cooked.Excellent breakfast.Cleanliness was excellent, and the towels and linen high quality.

Review 108:3 Restaurants but only one menu ? No lift or help so trek to room a bit ponderous.

Review 109:Very good breakfast with good service and local (yummy) produce. Nice size room with good bed and bathroom. Reasonably quiet, superb view over Malvern Hills. Good parking.

Review 110:We did not spot breakfast timings and were twenty minutes late. Hey presto, sumptuous breakfast was magic-ed up. How to turn a guest's mistake into a hotel triumph!

Review 111:Beautifully decorated and equipped, this hotel has real homely style. Delightfully warm Charming staff. Bookcases full of interesting magazines and book selection. Definitely on my list to return and walk up the Malvern Hills again.

Review 112:Needs poo bins adjacent to lawned dog area. Local council also needs same on adjacent paths etc.

Review 113:Great food, accommodation and staff and really supportive and dog friendly. Thoroughly recommend for walks across the Malvern Hills from adjacent local paths. Mike of Clevedon

Review 114:Everything was just fine...

Review 115:Our room and bathroom were well laid out, clean and tidy. Excellent menu choice for dinner followed up by a really yummy meal and locally brewed beer.

Review 116:This is our favourite hotel in the UK. There is nothing we dislike apart from having to leave it,but we always know we'll be back.

Review 117:We have stayed at this hotel many times. The location is stunning, surrounded by beautiful scenery and outstanding views for those who walk up to the summit. The staff are welcoming and helpful, the food generous and well presented, try the trio of sausages! The bedrooms are very well appointed, super comfortable beds and good size bathrooms. The perfect place to chill out.

Review 118:Internet was unstable but not an issue

Review 119:We had a very nice dinner after a late check in, the staff were so friendly and made us feel very welcome at all times. The breakfast was also very nice. We would definitely stay again and wod recommend!

Review 120:Characterful hotel, mbeautiful perfect location, clean & recently refurbished room. Great that our 3yr old had his own room within the family room and his own TV! Food lovely.

Review 121:Room was cold. Told reception they said it would be turned on at five o'clock. It was turned on but it was still cold. They need to have separate controls for heating in each bedroom.

Review 122:Breakfast was lovely with a good choice. Evening meals also very good.

Review 123:we had a lovely stay. The rooms were lovely very clean and spacious. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent as was the service. We would certainly stay there again

Review 124:The staff were super friendly and the hotel was beautiful. Perfectly located for our marathon training in the Malvern Hills. The hotel welcomed us and our dog Max and made our stay very comfortable. Wonderful meal in the hotel restaurant. We were even able to check out an hour later as our training ran over a little on the Saturday. Highly recommended. We will be back.

Review 125:Although the room had recently been refurbished & was very nice with lovely views the room just didn't get warm enough & I couldn't get the wifi on even using their passcode, the signal was too weak.

Review 126:the hotel location was perfect for walking in the Malvern hills, the food was very good & the staff were very friendly.

Review 127:Wi-Fi coverage very patchy, especially in the room

Review 128:Comfortable room, lovely surroundings, good breakfast and excellent service. The staff are quite young and refreshingly enthusiastic about their work - in particular the breakfast waitress was very attentive and helpful.

Review 129:Not everyone likes hot bedrooms ,and we were very suprised that we could not turn the heating down.

Review 130:Location of the hotel is excellent ,with good walks straight from the hotel car park. The service and the food were very good, and we would stay here again.
