Reviews for Rantasipi Imatran Valtionhotelli
Review 1:Castle Restaurant food was excellent, tastes were fine. The kitchen gets all the points. Very polite and friendly service in the restaurant although there were very many clients and just two waitresses.
Review 2:no tea kettle in the room, no slippers nor towels in the spa, the only weight machine in the gym was not working
Review 3:location, sauna, breakfast, friendly front desk, free parking
Review 4:Prices of the rooms and prices in the restaurant! Sauna is cold! Swimming pool and Jacuzzi should be warmer too!
Review 5:Castle, atmosphere, park, nature around the castle, location is perfect! Stuff is very friendly, helpful. The very romantic place. Bike rent is in the hotel. Rooms are clean, beds - comfortable. Furniture is not very new, but in good condition. Bed linen is good quality, clean and new. Bathrobe and towels are in good condition too. Everything was as were expected for 4* finnish hotel. Breakfast is perfect! Spa could have been better, but good enough for morning/evening relax, if only there is not more then 6-8 persones at a time.
Review 6:Housekeeping below standard and even if a tablet of chocolate was kindly put into the room after three complaints this does not compensate low standards at high prices
Review 7:Friendly staff
Review 8:The "spa" is abit overrated, no possibility to have sauna (steam or normal) together as a couple and jacuzzis were pretty chilly (only 34 Celsius). That's the only negative experience :)
Review 9:Dirty floor under the bed (a lot of dust), moreover the was a used wine cork on the floor...So the houskeepers should work better...
Review 10:Tastful breakfast, very stylish interior, a proximity to the waterfall Imatrankoski.
Review 11:Our room was really too small to be a double, could not find a place to put out suitcases.
Review 12:We loved the sense of fantasy in this hotel. The spa was beautiful and the hotel itself had great charm. A feeling of yesteryear.
Review 13:The room had just two small windows. So, it was a little bit dark. When dining, the meal was a little bit cold.
Review 14:The old part of the hotel building was magnificent. The location was great, even though the Imatra falls was empty. Nice paintings in the restaurant, especially that of A. Favorin.
Review 15:Breakfast is a little bit poor, but this is not a big problem - you can always find something to satisfy your hunger.
Review 16:Location, comfort of the room, sound proofness, good food in the restaurant.
Review 17:Expensive rooms in the castle
Review 18:Stayed in this hotel many times, the hotel is nice but already fairly aged. Courteous staff, comfortable rooms (in the castle). Breakfast is as in most common Finnish hotels.
Review 19:The radiators didn't work properly, even though they checked them twice, so the room was cold most of the time. Lift wasn't working.
Review 20:The room was very cosy and comfortable but could the décor could use some updating. The facilities and location were very good.
Review 21:The room I stayed this time with my friend was a little bit "tired", needing renovation.
Review 22:Great location, very friendly personnel, clean rooms, excellent breakfast, very good SPA complex.
Review 23:Extra bed is not comfortable at all and makes lots of extra sounds apart from being hard to sleep. Actually, that's an outdated armchair, so not much is expected, but you should be able to fall asleep even on added beds.
Review 24:All was great.
Review 25:spa complex is too small, no conditioner in the room, bathroom is rather old
Review 26:great location, nice view, quiet and cozy rooms, bicycle rent, good breakfast, friendly and competent staff
Review 27:There was crumbs from cookies in the bed for a baby.., any remnants of wool (maybe there was a pet before?), which is unacceptable for such a hotel. The bottom of the cot was at the height of 10 cm from the floor, as in the room was cool (to sleep adults comfortably), I was afraid that the baby freeze
Review 28:Location, comfortable sleeping
Review 29:Everything was just exceptional in the main Castle building. We had only one disappointment: there were two separate beds standing together, instead of one twin bed as we would expect. Otherwise - a great experience and a feeling of staying in a real castle.
Review 30:nothing we didn't like
Review 31:great hotel, best in Imatra, staying there for 2nd time. good spas and saunas. Great that they they changed open hours for spa - all day long, not just mornings and evenings. room was very nice, comfortable beds and all we needed was there. breakfast is great.
Review 32:Spa zone is really quite small, but clean. Breakfast could be of more choice.
Review 33:Everything was fine: excellent location, friendly staff, spacious and clean room with modern furniture (triple room in spa building), green park around.
Review 34:Spa was bit dissapointing with only one small pool and two hot tubs. No air conditioning in rooms on the Spa hotel (don't know about rooms on the Castle hotel side). We couldn't find free parking lot from hotel park on Saturday evening when we arrived and had to park elsewhere for few hours.
Review 35:Surrounding was great right next to Imatra Rapids. There was also nice nature trails around the rapis area almost right from the hotel. Castle hotel looks great and atmosphere reflects the outside look. Good breakfast with a bit of local flavor. Free (public) parking.
Review 36:Spa facilities are quite limited, a spa indeed, Imatran Kylpyla Spa is better in this regaad
Review 37:Location - Imatran Kosli, kid's area, meals and shopping area. Very good breakfast with kid's table (good food options!!!)
Review 38:Rude And unhelpful waitress Erja Kekkonen or Tikkanen. Fortunately the others made Up for this. Food was only averige and too salty. A local inhabitant whom we chatted with in excellent nearby Buttenhoff was right!
Review 39:Location superb Ambiance Friendly reception
Review 40:Great location, magnificent interior, good food
Review 41:People at reception was very friendly.
Review 42:Tiny fitnescenter.
Review 43:Location, large room and nice bed.
Review 44:No air conditioning. Rooms were hot. Plug sockets not easy to access
Review 45:The location was perfect for my stay
Review 46:Room has just a little window
Review 47:Staff very helpful, room clean, breakfast was nice, location is very very beautiful
Review 48:Great scenery, beautiful place, fantastic staff!
Review 49:SPA is too far from hotel building.
Review 50:Excellent interior!!! Nacional romantism at the best!!!
Review 51:would like to see more young people
Review 52:breacfast is very tasty, the rooms are clean and comfy, the place is nice and relaxing at least in march.
Review 53:View from the window... Perfect breakfast. Hot sauna. Only good impressions. Next time I will check new building.
Review 54:The food in the restaurant was not tasty
Review 55:Location, silence, comfortable rooms
Review 56:Plumbing fixtures should be replaced or repaired both in rooms and spa. Housekeeping was poor.
Review 57:Calm, cosy and quiet little suite. Really enjoyed...
Review 58:There aren't enough places to have fun or good supper in the town
Review 59:Very nice surroundings and friendly stuff
Review 60:price
Review 61:Nearly everything
Review 62:location is nice, good breakfast
Review 63:Very helpful staff
Review 64:It's quite funny to call this hotel spa hotel... In the gym I go tothere's a bigger spa zone. So 150 eur per night in Imatra... Atleast too much!!! It should have cost 50 eur, maximum!!!
Review 65:The hotel is ocated nicely, good rooms, tasty breakfast.
Review 66:Do not like the poor breakfast (though every year they are getting worse)
Review 67:Stayed at this hotel for one night (before returning to Moscow) in January. Very nice hotel location - on the banks Vuoksy and close to the border crossing Imatra-Svetogorsk (10 min.) Room on the fourth floor of the main building was very spacious and warm, decent signal level wi-fi, a large free public parking in front of the hotel. The hotel is a decent restaurant (open until 21-30), there is a menu in Russian.
Review 68:We did not like restaurant menu in the evening - expensive andtasteless. Wine and custom hot meals in the evening does not correspondto the level of the hotel. Very bad impression we got from the free spaservice. There was not limiting of the number of people being in the spaat the same time. There for a lot of people were simultaneously been ina small sauna and a tiny pool. In was impossible to get into jacuzzi. They were constantly busy. Sauna is available for everyone. When we werethere it was a group of young Finnish athletes after training. Not avery pleasant experience. In order not to spoil your holiday I wouldrecommend to use fee, personal spa services.
Review 69:Perfect location on the Vuoksa riverbank. Lovely views. Quiet andpeaceful place without the deafening music and drunken companies. Anideal place for family couples relaxation in nature. Gorgeous room inthe castle building. The free breakfast was very good.
Review 70:Very late check-in. Our room in the SPA building was not cleaned even by 3 pm! We were given a small room instead in the castel which is really small and old. 3 star hotel.
Review 71:The place. SPA complex, but nothing special. Breakfast is ok.
Review 72:nursery and children's entertainer, an infrared sauna, not working, not all simulators work in the gym, a variety of desserts and fruits for breakfast
Review 73:соmfort, nature, spa-relaxation
Review 74:The hotel has no services at all. There were no baggage handlers and wewere required to climb two long flights of stairs in rainy weather toget to reception (no elevators from the street!). The hotel reeks of amusty smell, is shabby, and needs serious updating. The rooms are tiny. There is no internet or wifi in the rooms(thick walls, according to thereception clerk). The bars were closed at 9:00 pm when we arrived. Thespa had no towels or robes: reception informed us that we needed totake our room towels to the spa and sauna. The pièce de résistance: wegained access to the gym ( horrible place with "targetpractice" pocked walls with our room card, but after the doorshut, we were locked inside with no way to get out! After banging onthe door, a hotel guest got an employee to open the door after ourbeing trapped over 15 minutes. There was no manager on duty to whom wecould complain, but the reception clerk thought we were stupid, couldnot read Finnish, although my wife is a native Finnish speaker. Sheinvestigated the gym with us and showed us the unmarked door releasethat looked like an electric light switch. When asked why there is nosign for the door release, she replied, "Vandals probably removedthe sign." We promptly asked to leave and rode to the veryrespectable Scandic Hotel in Lapeenranta, which was delightful. We donot recommend Imatran Valtion Hotelli!!
Review 75:We remembered the hotel as one of Finland's grand hotels. My wifeand I had had a wonderful voileipäpöytä lunch there some years ago. Wewanted to stay at a spa run by the same group that manages The fabulousHotelli Aulanko in Hämeenlinna Finland where we stayed three years ago.The location put us within an hour's drive of our relatives, too.
Review 76:To expensive Small rooms SPA is too small - pool is about 2 or 3 meters, no common sauna, small hydro-baths Kitchen is not so good, poor breakfast Too crowdy - a lot of tourists arrive every day just to visit a hotel and listen a guide. A lot of russian tourists stays there but no one from local staff can speak russian.
Review 77:Perfect location Beautiful nature SPA is included Perfrect hospitality of local staff Design
Review 78:Not brand new equipment in the bath, no champoos and shower gel, poor TV channels number, small swimming pool,
Review 79:Nice location, quiet atmosphere, minimus noise from outside in the rooms, faced to the forest, comfortable sauna, sophisticated gym, substantial food, good internet connection
Review 80:I suppose we were lucky this time: 1. wi-fi wasn't working in our room neither in other places in hotel and nearby although we'd paid for it twice; 2. telephone was also not working in the room; 3. but the most nasty thing was in bathroom - after shower the water was filling the floor and stayed there, the same flood was happening after toilet flushing..
Review 81:nature
Review 82:More staff in the rush hour at the Breakfast! Do not have time to clean the table!
Review 83:Good location , original, unusual architecture, convenient Parking, good location for walking! In summer - hang on the rope over a waterfall!
Review 84:No a/c in the whole hotel (old or new part), had to get fresh air in to the room by keeping the window open. No safe in the room
Review 85:The old part is a beautiful and unique building, the restaurant had a great atmosphere. The renovations and furnishing were true to the building's style and era for the most part
Review 86:tiny rooms. the smallest room i've ever lived in the hotel. 1.5 size bed for two people standing next to the wall in the corner. small blanket that just isn't enough for two people. poor breakfast. instant coffee! all that for a price of a good, large suite anywhere in the world. worst price/quality ratio i've seen.
Review 87:hotel surroundings. nature
Review 88:A lot of 1. Worse value for money and the price at the hotel 10% less than we paid through Booking.com 2. NO AIRCONDITIONING 3. They take money in advance upon arrival which is commonly illegal 4. No room cleaning 5. MicroSpa with the strange people coming to sauna with swim dress and plastic slippers on them. 6. Coffee maker out of order - you will never get your espresso. 7. Staff lives it parallel life with NO personal attention to the clients.
Review 89:Only one - location
Review 90:Nothing to complain from our perspective, but two things the guests should notice when they book with the hotel: - there is a separate spa wing, which is built in the 1980´s. It is very different from the castle hotel, so ensure that you book your room in the correct building! - the spa and especially the pool section is not very big. So the pools may get crowded. There is a separate pool for kids, but we realized that some kids also want to use the bigger pool.
Review 91:The location of this hotel is excellent, it is within walking distance to the town centre and from the terrace located just next to the hotel there is also a spectacular view to the dam. We stayed in the superior room in the spa hotel (i.e. not in teh castle hotel), the room was fine and recently re-furbished. Also the dinner served at the main restaurant was very delicious.
Review 92:Room a considerable distance from the dining area in the main hotel, but this is a very minor criticism.
Review 93:Old hotel magnificent. We stayed in the modern annexe, which was standard, upper end. Perfect location on fringe of city centre and adjacent to the gorge where the Imatra Rapids Show takes place.
Review 94:Cuisine (I asked cabderelle soup and got withou excuses soup ofporcini),the fact that there is no air conditioned in the rooms, atleast in the of the congress and spa building and only one chair perroom because all possible chairs had been taken to the conferencehall..........
Review 95:Imatra Valtion is a must in Imatra.
Review 96:'An extra bed' provided for a 6 y.o. child went out to be just a matress laid of the room floor. We were completely unaware of this. I think the hotel should have informed us in advance.
Review 97:Location is perfect. Very close to the city centre and Imatrankoski.
Review 98:Old fitting in room's bathroom, very expensive dinners, poor menu in restaurant, small swimming-pool with broken and dangerous ladder, TV is always on, even at night!
Review 99:Polite and helpful personnel, delicious breakfast, beautiful building and scenery, very calm and peaceful place.
Review 100:The reservation was "free cancellation - pay later". Yet theyrefused to change reservation due to last minute changes (my friend hadto cancel trip last minute) claiming it all to booking.com. Only advicewas was to cancel via booking.com, but the free cancellation expired18.00 (I arrived 18.15). I found the attitude unpleasant and the"free cancellation - pay later" false promise.
Review 101:Beautiful place and nature. Very relaxed atmosphere.
Review 102:Breakfast lacked variation. Restaurant menu not very extensive.
Review 103:Located in an historic building rooms are very comfortable with good spa facilities in adjacent modern conference centre. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 104:Unfortunately there was no printed information about the placeavailable. We know there are several other attractions in Imatra, suchas the Three Cross church and the Workers quarter by Alvar Aalto and itwould be wonderful to have a kind of a special excursion with a guidewhen those people sho are interested to see and know more can book it inadvance and plan their trip accordingly and pay reasonable price for it(for example once a week or so a bus trip for 10-15 people for 2 hoursin English or Russian)
Review 105:We came specially to spend some time in the atmosphere of Jugend styleso beautifully represented and well maintained in Rantisipi ImatranValtionhotelli. It would be great to have an excursion around the castlewith a guide...
Review 106:Before opening saimaa gardens that was the best hotel in Imatra, right now its looking as medium level spa resort
Review 107:Excellent location, perfect view from restaurant
Review 108:We took a standard room in the castle. Everything was very good. Theroom was ready at the noon, very clean and comfortable. We had a nicerelaxation.
Review 109:Payment for one night stay was taken 5 times from my card! Two excessively taken amounts I managed to return and waitnig for return of 2 remaining amounts.
Review 110:The hotel could hold temperature in numbers on 1 degree more. In thefine library located opposite to the reception, mercilessly blew from awindow. To be there, means to subject itself to risk to be ill. Incastle always blows
Review 111:Excellent breakfasts, remarkable sauna.
Review 112:Liked everything!
Review 113:Beautiful surroundings, beautiful hotel with nice furniture restaurant and other facilities
Review 114:No attention to cleaning of rooms Half cold breakfast
Review 115:The building and history. Nice walks around the lake.
Review 116:Price - 131e for two. 100e would be right for me.
Review 117:Sauna, pool. Breakfast. Cosy room. Lake, bike way. Parking.
Review 118:water pool is good
Review 119:Breakfast is a very small selection of dishes small average quality
Review 120:SPA very good
Review 121:Breakfast, saunas, swimming pools and jakuzzi
Review 122:No ramp at the entrance, it's hard to get around with a baby carriage
Review 123:Hotel interior, spa
Review 124:Staff denied to give a corkscrew.
Review 125:Location and achitecture are really great!
Review 126:chlor in swimming pool, have chlor burn on my skin, my friend too.
Review 127:nature, polyte personal, the building is beatyful, food, spa, smell, shops
Review 128:very nice place in the center of Imatra with sauna and pool
Review 129:Wonderful place to stay at if you want to relax peacefully. Castle is beautiful and you will enjoy the atmosphere of it for sure.
