Reviews for The Dorchester Hotel
Review 1:The shower in my room was just struggling to function..and the beds were not comfortable...just a basic room anyway..
Review 2:Location was convinient as it was close to my Son's accommodation....it's a budget hotel, so you get what you pay for..we complained that our room was not warm enough and they provided us with an extra blanket and a moveable heater which was very nice of them. Also nice daily supply of tea n coffee.
Review 3:Freezing shower, dirty room and worse of all blood stain on the quilt cover. We lasted half an hour and left. Utter disgrace.
Review 4:Nothing, absolutely dreadful
Review 5:Filthy bedding in both rooms! Slept in our coats in double room! So cold & dirty! Barbed wire & brick wall for view! Couldn't get out of there quick enough!!!
Review 6:Single room was warm.
Review 7:We were greeted by an elderly man at reception, wearing a dirty off white shirt which was half unbuttoned exposing his grey chest hair (we should have turned around and walked away then). We had to ask for clean bedding as it was stained. The room itself was dirty with hairs in the bath from the previous occupants. The cleaners arrived around 7am and obviously wanted every guest to know it judging by the amount of noise they made. We booked for 2 nights but only stayed for 1. To be honest, had we not arrived at 10pm the first night we wouldn't have stayed at all!
Review 8:Departing!
Review 9:Unable to have to get food in morning even it was to be payed for.did not like the door into the next room ok for families
Review 10:Soft pillows were did you get them comfortable bed, nice staff
Review 11:none
Review 12:recommend this hotel to any one wanting to visit hull staff are fantastic lovely clean friendly hotel 20 out of 10 . weatherspoons 5 min walk away for breakfast and evening mealbut lots around on great bus link to hull
Review 13:Having to go home at the end of the holiday
Review 14:Stayed at hotel with cousin and aunt for my parents 30th anniversary weekend and was very pleased. Happy to find a hotel that caters for 3 adults in one room, was comfortable and clean and receptionist was very helpful called taxi and advised where to eat. Very pleasant stay and will book again.
Review 15:No staff on duty. No extras pillows in Roon apart from the ones on bed which was so thin couldn't get a proper sleep due to the bed
Review 16:You get what you paid for
Review 17:Hotel was easy to find, staff were very friendly and helpful (we had paid to sign in early but were even earlier than intended but were shown to our rooms straight away) and the rooms were lovely.
Review 18:Very basic room with bed pushed up by the window so difficult to get out in the middle of the night. Stayed for two nights and did not get the room serviced after the first night had to empty the bin our selves. Not really worth the money charged would have expected it for less, no enthusiasm displayed by staff
Review 19:Not a bad location for central Hull and plenty of places to eat and drink nearby
Review 20:Only downside was people tended to bang doors despite polite notice asking them not to, though not the fault of the hoteliers.
Review 21:Friendly staff who were very helpful. Great location and price, especially good having a free car park. Brilliant wifi connection too.
Review 22:The only thing was a lack of furniture in the room. Would have been nice to have had a desk or another chair.
Review 23:A value for money accommodation with large room. Nice staff and good to see the cctv in the car park. Coffee and tea making facilities and bath with a shower.
Review 24:Dated rooms with low quality fixture and fittings For example the suite in the bathroom had odd taps The lighting was old and looked Ill maintained The shower was adequate but the mixer was very sensitive Their was a hair grip in the middle of the room yet my friends have no hair
Review 25:Convenient parking and location for princes avenue and newland avenue
Review 26:Handy for City centre and station but in quiet area. Now have excellent tea/coffee making facility in rooms. Staff very courteous and helpful. Lateish checkout if required.
Review 27:The showers were poor, struggled to get it to a nice temperature. Either burning hot or freezing cold! Also there wasn't a mirror in our bedroom only the bathroom which was a struggle when trying to do hair/makeup.
Review 28:The location was ideal for our stay, the hotel having a car park was also a bonus. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Review 29:the money taken off our card before we arrived put us in the red with our bank so we will probably get a fine of some sort.no shower gel or shampoo in our rooms.
Review 30:the staff were great good parking.nice clean rooms.the location was within easy access of the city centre
Review 31:The rain bouncing off the air con units which made a very loud noise all night.
Review 32:It's was a cheap crack den, the room stunk, the bed was uncomfortable and the shower was weak. The view was worst. Please see photo.
Review 33:The staff was the best. You couldn't expect more. Everyone was pleasant and eager to help. Very accommodating. Dorchester would be my first choice for any return visits.
Review 34:Amazing helpful friendly staff who bent over backwards to ensure we were comfortable. Rooms are basic but clean and with tv, coffee making facilities and wonderful value for money
Review 35:We had to ring two numbers to be able to check in, we were waiting outside for at least 15 minutes.
Review 36:The bed was comfortable, and it's quite a quiet hotel - or it was until the last night when someone came in at 11.20pm and decided o shout and bang about.
Review 37:The hotel is dated and fittings are worn out. Some unpleasant smells at times, and generally not too clean.
Review 38:Conveniently located for University and City. It's all on the ground floor and reasonably quiet.
Review 39:It's just a shame that you can't get a breakfast there.
Review 40:It is the first place that i try to book, icome here every four weeks, and have never had a bad word to say about the hotel or its staff.
Review 41:Bed wasn't the most comfortable. No soap in the soap dispenser in the shower. The vending machine was out of order and we were starving when we arrived.
Review 42:Staff very friendly, right next to a diner-we were in town for a wedding so we didn't try it and near to high street. TV, Coffee and tea in our room was a nice touch.
Review 43:What was there to like?
Review 44:The tv didn't work. The over mirror light in bathroom didn't work. Staff attitude was awfull. When I checked out the guy on reception couldn't be bothered to ask how our stay was. Or was everything ok! It was almost too much effort for him to turn away from his computer. He just looked on the countertop saw my bill and handed it me. No thank you for choosing this hotel no have a good weekend. So the worse hotel I have ever stayed in. It was cheap but staff with no manners is beyond me. If I had paid more I would of took this a lot further.
Review 45:Noise from 7am was unbelievable!! Front door banging constantly and paper thin walls meant the noise vibrated all down the corridor. The worst offenders though were the staff who shouted and talked loudly right outside my door all morning. I left having had no sleep but I knew all the football results and who in their family had visited that weekend! On arrival there was nobody there so I was left outside (with my child) holding my luggage and trying to find my phone. I called the 2 emergency numbers and nobody answered. Finally I called a mobile and somebody answered and then came to the hotel to let me in. If you advertise you are open until 10pm, you need to be there. Very unprofessional.
Review 46:Free wifi and parking.
Review 47:The car park was small and the cars had to be parked very close necessitating passengers to get out whilst the driver squeezed into the space. It wasn't helped by there being no marked spaces and some of the parking was haphazard.
Review 48:There was a slight problem as we had been allocated a room different to that which was booked but the receptionist apologised and then went above and beyond to rectify the problem and sorted it out efficiently. The hotel was basic but very clean and good value for the money paid.
Review 49:Rooms would in my opinion benefit a desk and chair to work on the laptop more easily.
Review 50:A good clean quietly situated hotel with handy location for shops, bars and Eateries. In addition the hotel provides ample parking within the grounds.
Review 51:They could do with a new mattress in room 3.
Review 52:The staff are so kind and helpful and a very warm welcome. The room it's self was clean and well presented.
Review 53:A great shame they do not offer a breakfast or that the adjoining diner doesn't open for breakfast. This would be a great added extra.
Review 54:We loved how close it was to a new beautiful diner called libertys. The room was very clean and had fresh warm towels awaiting our arrival. Lovely warm shower. All yoy could want from a good night stay.
Review 55:this time we got room 13 and it was damp stained and the sheets/pillowcases smelt mouldy didn't complain as it was late when we got in,
Review 56:we stayed in room 2 last time and it was lovely and clean and fresh
Review 57:I didn't like how the tiles in bathroom were dirty.
Review 58:The staff was friendly, room was nice and clean, comfortable bed and everything was excellent :)
Review 59:Room had 3 beds but no chairs, no table. One bedside lamp for 3 beds. Poor decoration. Two slats of window blind missing. Room was not cleaned every day.
Review 60:Free WiFi. Nice receptionist.
Review 61:There was no one at the desk when I arrived at 20h00. I had help from the bar next door to ring to get access. Make it clear that the address is Pearson, not Beverley road.
Review 62:It was convenient and cheap.
Review 63:I would like to be able to get breakfast at the hotel
Review 64:The staff are very welcoming, polite and helpful. If there is any problems, the staff will sort it out asap.
Review 65:Walking from the train station to the hotel my initial impression was that it was located in a run down road. I did begin to wonder what sort of hotel it would be, it was a relief when I arrived at the hotel to find it was quite pleasant and staff very nice.
Review 66:Very basic reflects price dirty only one pillow each .Looking outside at brick wall no mirror in bedroom only in bathroom, kettle not safe in room with children due to been on a small bedside table.Lamp on floor.
Review 67:Staff friendly
Review 68:Echo in hall way made it difficult for late night revellers to slip in quietly. I don't think that the lads who came in at 4:30 am were unduly noisy, but I was woken by them. A double bed against the wall is not good.
Review 69:Friendly staff
Review 70:as i was travelling from Aberdeen i was quite late and the hotel called to make sure i was still checking in and the night porter was waiting for me on my arrival and checked me in promptly.
Review 71:No breakfast available but Wetherspoons just a short walk away.
Review 72:Great value for money. All staff we met were very friendly and helpful. Plenty of hot water.
Review 73:Nice size rooms and very clean , decent off road parking and plenty of local places to get or eat food . Friendly and helpful staff . Would definetly stay here again !!!!
Review 74:Mouldy, dirty bathroom with useless shower. Nowhere to sit other than the beds. Four beds crammed into a small space. Bed not made, room not cleaned (including dirty cups not changed) daily. Hotel policy is to clean rooms and change towels every 5 days. Insufficient pillows.
Review 75:Location. Comfortable bed.
Review 76:I didn't like the fact you only had one pillow as i personally cant sleep well with one. Also the fact no breakfast option as of yet. Though we did find a nice place o have breakfast.
Review 77:Lovely and quiet and comfy bed.
Review 78:The room was spacious and very clean. the bath was a good size and water very , very hot . The cold tap on the bath didn't have good pressure so we had to be careful with that. Staff were approachable and very helpful.
Review 79:The area is quite rough which isn't the hotel's fault obviously. A staff member burst into my room without knocking in order to check the boiler saying he thought I was at work. I was on the bed, fortunately dressed at the time. The Wifi was intermittent so I used my phone to tether my laptop in the end. I stayed for four weeks and was charged a different amount every week! The third week I paid for a double room which turned out to be a double bed shoved into a single room and you couldn't get out of it on both sides. I am actually working in the area for 6 months and would have been a regular resident but I'd rather pay more at a chain hotel than continue to suffer.
Review 80:The location of this place is good for the universities.
Review 81:I stayed for four nights. not once the room was cleaned. I had to ask for clean towels every other day.
Review 82:Nothing. That staff were OK. but I think they could not provide more than they can. The same guy was the receptionist, the manager, the Gardner, the cleaner, the repair guy, the security guard and 24/7 emergency staff !!!! I he could do with some help.
Review 83:My room, no.11, had no blind at the only window (which was a ceiling Velux of which there was no means of opening either) so I was awoken at 4:30 with the bright day/sun light streaming across my face. Not pos. to return to sleep as felt like a bright light being shone into my face. No Wi-Fi at all in this room either.
Review 84:Car parking available. Location good for visiting other areas.
Review 85:The double room was small but i am happy in such cheap price.
Review 86:Very nice free private parking space for 10+ cars. Bed was comfortable. Wifi was good. Cheap price. 24 hrs open reception.
Review 87:No plug for bedside lamp, smelly pillows, tiny room, paper-thin walls, limited parking as shared with restaurant, generally worn appearance
Review 88:Cheap, Functional, Hot shower
Review 89:Really dirty windows and blinds. View from our window was a wall. Could be doing with a breakfast facility. Signs up on the bathroom doors stating if u dirty the towels u have to pay £10! Bit strange as towels are there so u can dry and clean yourself are the not?
Review 90:The bathroom had a good shower and the bed was clean.
Review 91:No servicing of rooms, Mould on the ceiling in the bathroom. Noisey stay with a stag party staying and the walls very thin so you could hear every sound. Dripping taps from the bathroom all night. Diner attached said it opens at 7 but doesn't open until after 9
Review 92:Not really much
Review 93:The room I stayed in has several patches of damp in the corners at the junction between the wall and ceiling. Also several patches of damp in the bathroom. This could pose a problem for someone with asthma or other breathing problems.
Review 94:Very comfortable bed.
Review 95:We stayed 3 nights but the room was not serviced during that time. Had to ask twice for replenishment tea/milk etc. Towels not changed without asking
Review 96:The room and bathroom were clean and large, the bed was very comfortable. Free parking a bonus. Very good value.
Review 97:Only thing was I was there for three days and room not serviced. Maybe because they thought I was revising for exams and didn't want to be disturbed? No breakfast in nearby Liberty's, but I believe they will be starting that soon. Some nearby buildings rundown but did not feel unsafe. Could have done with a more comfortable chair to relax in.
Review 98:Staff trying their best to accommodate my special requests before I arrived. While I was there I asked for an extra pillow and got one. Prompt check in, showed me around and how to use the swipe card. Felt at home very quickly. Quiet room at back of hotel away from road (Room 24). Near pool, park and local shops. New flooring and decoration and a new looking TV. Will be coming back in June with my Mum.
Review 99:I liked everything
Review 100:Very cheap and cheeky. The staff especially Shane was always very helpful. As too were the ladies but Shane was always on hand if anything was needed. American Diner next door did great food as did weatherspoons pub 2 minutes away
Review 101:Only 1 bedside cabinet. Only one chair. Decaf drinks weren't available as had been requested during booking
Review 102:Price and availability of parking. Connected American Diner was a plus. Helpful members of staff.
Review 103:Room smelled of cigarettes all the time. Think it was coming through air vents from outside smokers
Review 104:Clean comfortable room, dvd worked, good to have bath & shower !
Review 105:The location of the hotel is behind some building, it seems like a motel. Bathrom was clean but I could find some hair in the bath tub.
Review 106:Rooms are ok, nothing special, price is good.
Review 107:seemed to me heating was turned down in early morning. bathroom water was hot however. corridors could be a bit noisy .
Review 108:room had good size bed space ok had tv and films if needed.
Review 109:Tiny bedroom which was clearly a single room with a double bed put in. No place to put suitcases and. apart from a small wardrobe, no storage space.
Review 110:Free Wifi
Review 111:Stayed one night. Just needed a clean room and a bed. Got that, with the bonus of a full sized bath in the room and superb Chinese restaurant (Aroma) just around the corner. Very difficult to beat at this price
Review 112:Stayed here while visiting my daughter who is at university. We thought it was excellent value and has everything you need when you just want a bed for the night. Clean, comfortable and no fuss.
Review 113:nothing realy. Just a few more sugars, as sugar sachets do not hold much sugar. But that is everywhere ☺
Review 114:Clean heated room and tea made with plenty coffee and tea
Review 115:Hotel Security was very noisy at night, banging doors when on patrol
Review 116:Hotel is comfortable and good value for money, ideal for overnight stops or short stay break.
Review 117:Wasn't too sure about the area which is a shame as the hotel it's self and staff are so nice only problem was it was very hot and we had no control over the heating
Review 118:Easy access and excellent diner next door
Review 119:Overall a very pleasant place to stay. Very clean, great location and also good value. Would definitely stay here again if staying in Hull for business.
Review 120:staff seemed moody builders on site noise all morning and daytime stains on sheets water in shower either freezing or burning
Review 121:free wifi comfy bed location close to town centre quiet streets at night
Review 122:Better signs (possibly lit) on main road would have helped. We arrived in the dark and missed turning.
Review 123:Very clean, basic room. Bathroom spotless with plenty of hot water.
Review 124:Very,very warm certainly not frightened of putting the heating on. Not a fault really but ladies of a certain age don't cope.
Review 125:Low cost, very basic but clean. Ideal if you just need somewhere to sleep.
Review 126:I wasn't allowed in the squadie's room next door! They we're fit as well
Review 127:Good value for money Very clean and comfortable and very friendly and helpful staff. Only £4 in a taxi to town centre And the American diner next door is great for breakfast
Review 128:Cleaning not efficiently carried out, particularly in the bathroom. Room not serviced from when I arrived to when I left after 3 nights' stay.
Review 129:Staff were all friendly and linen was clean.
Review 130:There was nothing to complain about.
Review 131:Friendliness of the staff cleanliness and warmth of the room. Cost of accommodation very reasonable no breakfast on site but not a problem Tesco Express and cafe's close by for meals. Plenty of free on site parking.
Review 132:had to put kettle on the floor to boil cabinet with light no were near a plug unable to put lamp on
Review 133:Good value for money, good location real helpful staff enjoyed my stay
Review 134:Dust on the floors was the only thing . Needed a polish and there was red splatter marks on the blinds ... Bit odd
Review 135:Cheap and cheerful , extra £10 for late checkout really helpful , staff were polite but I was slightly worried abouty car as the spaces were limited and it got a bit loud outside at one Point which worried me being a single person staying there . Bathroom was lovely !!
Review 136:No soap/ shower gel in the dispenser, weird buzzing noise from the wall for 45 minutes, towel rail hanging of the wall.
Review 137:Cheap and cheerful good vfm
Review 138:Coffee vendor out of order. Wife thought bed bit hard, but I think ours at home is and she doesn't!
Review 139:Just needed a tidy stopover for Sat night while son having a sleepover at The Deep with his Beavers group. Did exactly what was needed at a budget cost £30. Room ready, clean and warm on a very cold night. Tea coffee kettle, tv, wardrobe, , full size bath with shower and hot water. Room in motel style annex to rear of main building. On main road into town centre but no noticeable traffic noise. Near enough for good 10 minute walk, far enough to be away from centre. Highly recommend for no thrills stay.
