Reviews for Hôtel Carlton
Review 1:Tea making facilities in the room would have been useful.
Review 2:The hotel was well located for the purpose of my visit. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would use this hotel again.
Review 3:This is a lovely friendly hotel. We had a great welcome and all the staff were very helpful. Especially Dee. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was lovely too.
Review 4:Pool isn't heated - so in late September it was on the cool side.
Review 5:Very friendly and welcoming staff. Location is good for both Beaulieu town, train station and walk to Cap Ferrat. Relaxing pool area.
Review 6:There is a sports court and hall where the original hotel gardens would have been, in front of the hotel, and school sports start at 8.00am.
Review 7:The location is good for train station, bus stops and beach. The bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom spacious. Breakfast was fine and the coffee good. Overall for the price, which is much the same as the nearby Ibis, it is very good value.
Review 8:Slightly too small. Coffe/tea facilities needed in the rooms
Review 9:We had a lovely stay. The staff were lovely. The only things I had to comment on was the size of the room. The standard room we booked was very compact but comfy. For a few days it was fine but for a full week I would've struggled with the size. Also there were no tea/coffee facilities in the room which were missed.
Review 10:Had a great time in a lovely Hotel with pleasant staff, central location and we could have asked for anything else for a short relaxing break away, thank you Hotel Carlton we will be back !!
Review 11:The school next door was noisy at times.
Review 12:Great value for the money and excellent facilities. Lunch by the pool was amazingly low priced, well prepared and good tasting.
Review 13:No kettle in room for tea/coffee. Breakfast expensive. Better off going into Beaulieu town to many cafes.
Review 14:Comfortable room size. Comfortable bed. Excellent staff. Very helpful & knowledgable of area.
Review 15:Totally ludicrous that they do not supply an in room kettle and then charge for a terrible coffee/tea and the twin beds were single more appropriate to give guests king single beds... Also inroom information :maps/ sites to visit /recommendations should be provided regarding the area and bus/ trains/ places to visit /eat
Review 16:the pool was right up there as loved its depth . The hotel was peaceful and very clean and staff were friendly.. Hotel in ideal spot ..it was a lovely area to explore and visit neighbouring areas! And Beaulieu beach is as clean as any on the Riviera contrary to one staff members recommendation on our 1st days advice not swim at beauleau but Walk to VilleFranche
Review 17:Deirdre and staff were very helpful and friendly, recommended best local restaurants, walks and places to visit. Best hotel for location, facilities and value in the nicest location on the Côte d'Azur, swimming pool was immaculate just like the rest of the hotel.
Review 18:Bedroom decor need updating and beds poor.next to a school where they play football under floodlights until 1am. Also casino disco near by played music until 2.30am Not a nice experience shame as location is great
Review 19:Great location Friendly staff my b b improved since our last visit.better facilities around the pool area
Review 20:Nothing
Review 21:Reception staff very friendly and helpful would certainly encourage us to use the hotel again. I booked his hotel for my 18 year old daughter and her friend to stay for a few days whilst we were in the area on a longer holiday. It was ideal, the swimming pool was great during the days and the 24 hour reception meant they could enjoy the nightlife both in Bealieu and nearby Monaco. All things considered Hotel Carlton provided a safe and comfortable environment and an ideal location to enjoy the best of the French Riviera Both girls thought it was their best trip ever
Review 22:The room and bed were very small but otherwise we were happy. We had a view onto the car park but there was no noise at all which was a big relief.
Review 23:The staff were wonderful. Very helpful, welcoming and friendly. The location was very good and parking was easy. We also enjoyed the pool.
Review 24:Only poor wifi....but a minor negative
Review 25:Near to everything but still peaceful location. Very discreet but attentive staff, lovely pool. Nice bed & good size bedroom
Review 26:Its rated as a 4 star hotel but is really a very basic accomodation, not updated for maybe 20-30 years. Not really a good hotel, very basic service. very run down.
Review 27:nice neitghbourhood, walking distance to the beach
Review 28:Awkward understaffed checkout. Charged for breakfast unlike many comparable hotels. Pleasant but unmemorable.
Review 29:Friendly helpful staff. Central location. Very clean facility. Nice large outdoor pool.
Review 30:A/C in the rooms wasn't powerful enough and seemed to switch off during the night.
Review 31:Everything else and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant.
Review 32:Room was very small with very little space for luggage; bed was on the uncomfortable side
Review 33:Nice pool, free wi-fi, off-street parking (not free but as cheap as parking on street), staff were all very good
Review 34:The welcoming and friendly team. Nothing was too much trouble especially for my 93 year old father. Good breakfast and snack choices. Nice swimming pool. Efficient air conditioning. 5 minutes from beach.
Review 35:The staff were all really friendly and extremely helpful. The hotel pool is a great asset too. The location of the hotel is brilliant for the beach and restaurants.
Review 36:It would have been good to have had a kettle and a fridge/mini bar.
Review 37:We had a room overlooking the sea with a big balcony with tables and chairs, lovely to sit and watch the boats. Short pretty walk to the many bars and restaurants.
Review 38:Needs money spending on room redec and furnishings.
Review 39:Really friendly and helpful staff - excellent lunch service and good value for money. Great to see that wifi has been improved since previous visits.
Review 40:The position, staff and pool were all lovely ... As was the weather during our stay! The hotel is close to train, bus and a short stroll to start of walk to cap Ferrat. We didn't have breakfast but opted to go to the boulangerie on high street. Where we enjoyed a fresh croissant and cafe au lait for two for about 9 euro.
Review 41:The school year and cement playing area on the immediate property with bouncing balls and yelling of kids until after dark.
Review 42:The staff were all helpful and friendly
Review 43:No comment, it was value for money..
Review 44:Staff were simply amazing, very helpful. Always available when needed. We also dint have phone chargers and staff went out of their way to provide us with mobile chargers. It was also in the middle of nice and monaco. 200mtrs to beach and train station jus 5min walk. Very cozy and big clean rooms.
Review 45:Our room had fairly thin walls and we could hear our neighbors. Thankfully they were quiet people but this was the only minus to a very pleasant Hotel.
Review 46:The Hotel is in a very Nice village on the coast, very well run, staff was excellent! Quiet neighborhood.
Review 47:Very enjoyable stay in a lovely traditional hotel. We only stayed a night but were very impressed with the receptionists and manager who kindly looked after our bags to save us carrying them around as we had a late flight. I would definitely stay again for longer next time.
Review 48:The bath rooms are very old and the shower in the bath tub is a bit dangerous. Some sinks have been replaced though.
Review 49:Its easy enough to park. The breakfast is nice and the personnel very nice also.
Review 50:Having stayed in this hotel before, the rooms to the back of the hotel are small and unappealing.
Review 51:The rooms were very spacious and bright but you specify which rooms you require. The front rooms with bay windows are very nice. Bathrooms are clean and there's plenty of closet space in the bedroom.
Review 52:We found it a very safe, friendly place to stay. It was close but not in the cities. Easy to walk along the coast to the next villages - and always picturesque. Easy to get the inexpensive bus to Nice or Monaco, or anywhere else in the area.
Review 53:The bathroom of the bedroom we had needs to be modified - can't comment on any others. There is also a sports school next door so whilst the hotel was quiet at night there is noise from the school during the day - not too bad, but it's there.
Review 54:We had a large airy room with a sea view. The hotel was nice and quiet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The off-peak price was very good for the area. The location was brilliant - easy walking distance from the centre of both Beaulieu and St Jean Cap Ferrat.
Review 55:The room was described as having a "park view" but this was slightly misleading as, in fact, the "park" no longer existed. Our room windows actually looked out on the hotel's front driveway and turning area which were not noisy or an unattractive setting but were certainly not a park.
Review 56:The room was quite spacious, with high quality décor, fittings, furniture and bathroom. The exterior was well maintained and the gardens very tidy. The staff were friendly and very helpful in advising us on making various visits to various places in the locale. There was no restaurant in the hotel but several within reasonable walking distance. The best was "Le Catalan" - good food, reasonably priced and impressively efficient service - a very good experience! Parking was available, as reserved and was appreciated.
Review 57:Hotel staff were friendly, courteous and very helpful, room was very spacious, bright and had nice views, beakfast was good and outside breakfast seating patio was great.
Review 58:Very good and helpful front desk. Close by inexpensive train to everywhere: Monaco, Villefranche, Nice, Antibes, etc, Beaulieu is very relaxing with lots of dining and beach front options without a lot of tourists such as in Nice. The pool was a great travel break.
Review 59:Would have liked tea/coffee in room.
Review 60:We loved this Hotel because it was small and the staff very helpful and friendly, Lovely and relaxing, very laid back atmospher. We would definitely stay here again. Worth paying a bit more for a sea/pool view.
Review 61:Everything. it's a wonderfull classical hotel, in one of the best spots in the french Riviera. We have been going there for the last ten years! It has been renovated and updated.
Review 62:no pool services Reception staff very UN welcoming Been for the last 3 years and found staff very unfriendly and not interested in our comfort or requirements Won't returning again
Review 63:Good location
Review 64:Bedrooms oldfashioned, nowhere to hang wet swim wear etc. noise from other rooms at night,Not quiet
Review 65:Pool very good Downstairs facilities good, but Upstairs disappointing
Review 66:A stately quiet hotel with great staff in perfect central location with beach, restaurants, bus stops and train station within 300m for access to explore the Riviera.
Review 67:Great quiet location very close to the beach and downtown. Very friendly and helpful staff. We will definitely visit again if we have the chance. Pool was great too.
Review 68:The small room, we expected small but it wasn't possible to move around with the suitcases in the room
Review 69:We needed to upgrade our booking from a small room because it was really too small. The larger room was very comfortable & the staff were very helpful. Nice pool for the warm afternoons & great central position. Easy walk to everything
Review 70:- the small room is small, but you have everything you need in it - it could have included the price the breakfast
Review 71:Very close to the beach, great pool, very clean room, Friendly personale, very elegant and relaxing hotel
Review 72:It is a perfect place to relax, very friendly and helpful service. Situated very close to the beach and the city. Breakfast was apropriate, very good value for money.
Review 73:Room was very tired looking. Could be cleaner (dust in several areas). WiFi was slow and patchy. Furniture was very tired and worn. No coffee facilities. Phone would not reach desk. Fridge on floor. Bed spread slight stains on it. Bathroom decor circa 1970's? Bed was hard and lumpy. Basketball court right next to hotel with constant shrieks and noise. From my 'Sea view' room I could only observe a tiny bit of sea in the slight gap between two trees. Was not allowed to borrow a hotel/pool towel to take to the beach! Why not? Should I have brought my own towel? Food service is limited to specific times of the day. (Not 4* standard)
Review 74:Location. Pool and sun beds. The less senior staff were the most friendly.
Review 75:can't think of anything
Review 76:convenient location, nice outdoor pool, friendly staff, good quality value-for-money lunches, outdoor terrace for breakfast/lunch,cleanliness, safe for valuables in bedrooms, private shower available if you need it after check-out (12 noon)
Review 77:Once I felt the smell of cigarettes in the room at night, but it only once. Internet upload very slow, download is perfect.
Review 78:The wait staff is very nice and attentive. Always glad to help. The beach is a three minute walk from the hotel. Everywhere is very clean. I recommend.
Review 79:No tea/coffee making facilities in room. Specifically on waking, and not being able to have a drink until breakfast.
Review 80:All of it! Clean and spacious room and bathroom with good view of mature gardens. Nice pool, and good location. Both town and beach just a few minutes away. Plus situated in Beaulieu which is just lovely.
Review 81:The staff could have been some more offensive and on the "seller".
Review 82:Quiet place. A little bit too quiet? Nice outdoor breakfast place. Breakfast ok. Location very good to beach and train/bus/city centre.
Review 83:It rained on Thursday, but that was about it really.
Review 84:The Hotel was very clean, clearly well managed and the breakfast was good value for money. We stayed in late June and are returning in September.
Review 85:Room decor is not warn but rather old fashioned. I could not get the bath filler to switch from shower.
Review 86:The room was quiet and clean. Bed was comfortable and the airconditioning was good. Also the room was spacious and we had a good continental breakfast. It is not far to walk to the beach.
Review 87:The double room (101) is incredibly small. There was barely room to walk around the double bed to get to the bathroom. The minibar refrigerator is right next to to the bed; my husband burned his hand on a coil one night as he shifted in bed. The shower head in the bathroom was broken.
Review 88:The hotel was close to the beach. The swimming pool was very nice.
Review 89:Location , value, helpful staff, cyclist friendly

Review 94:no restaurant in the hotel
Review 95:Location, space in the room
Review 96:Everything! The staff, in particular, are most welcoming and knowledgeable. The hotel is beautiful.
Review 97:The situation, the staff, cleanliness, the ambience, the pool area.the tea and coffee were also v.good. The service with a smile.
Review 98:No tea or coffee making facilities, breakfast basic and overpriced no fresh tea or coffee available
Review 99:Clean, helpful staff
Review 100:No complaints. All good.
Review 101:The staff , particularly Deirdre. She is fantastic.
Review 102:Lack of a grab rail to help exit bath/shower.
Review 103:Wonderful helpful staff, especially Dee.
Review 104:noise from school next door constantly playing basketball

Review 107:the breakfast and staff was good
Review 108:Location was close to train to Monaco + parking was available
Review 109:friendly staff, beautiful surroundings
Review 110:All ok
