Reviews for Colwall Park - Hotel, Bar & Restaurant

Review 1:Room very dated and tired. Bed small as was duvet. Radiator hardly worked. Cobwebs on the ceiling. At breakfast first morning our order was forgotten . When it did arrive the cooked breakfast was past it,s best!! Second morning breakfast was chaotic, wrong orders delivered etc.

Review 2:Nice location, quiet and peaceful.

Review 3:Couldn't get wifi in rooms, had to go down stairs, and mobile phone connection not very good, but I suppose it was the location, but that was lovely.

Review 4:Really lovely rooms, didn't realise we had a lounge, bedroom, and bathroom, very comfortable. Couldn't fault the hotel, staff very polite and couldn't do enough for you.

Review 5:Didn't eat in the hotel restaurant in the evenings as the menu didn't really appeal to us. A shame as I gather the food is very good.

Review 6:Good hotel for a quiet, relaxing break. Cosy suite in the attic- very quiet and comfortable. Very friendly, helpful staff. Good breakfast.

Review 7:the room was very nice and comfortable, it was maybe a bit pricey for one night. The food was good in the restaurant and the staff very attentive and pleasant. The reception staff on our arrival was very helpful and polite.

Review 8:Water pressure in ensuite facility was poor. The cost of breakfast & some drinks in the bar were expensive.

Review 9:Well situated. Interesting history of the property. General Manager had excellent people skills & many of the staff were most pleasant as were the modest facilities & surroundings.

Review 10:The room I had booked - photo provided by booking.com on booking - was not the room I got. I ordered a modern looking suite, I got 2 rooms sharing a bathroom (I had no need for the room with a single bed in it) with very dated decor and furniture. It was rather disappointing.

Review 11:Welcme of staff is bright, forced and totally unnatural. To be asked how we are on our late arrival after days travel, how we are at 7 am and whether we slept well...quite tiresome. Please a natural Good Morning will suffice.

Review 12:Location, comfort

Review 13:1 price of bed alone was too high. 2 room was a mish mash of old / new furniture and styles. 3 uncoordinated colours. 4 where the hotel cast offs ended up. 5 uncomfortable feel of dustiness and distress in this old hotel.. 6 previous rose cottage cockermouth superior in every respect at half the cost.

Review 14:dinner excellent

Review 15:It is not often that I can say that every single member of staff that we met were very helpful, pleasant, polite and efficient. They all went beyond their "role" and thus enhanced our stay, which was in some very wet weather! We ate in the bar each evening and the menu had lots of delicious choices and was plentiful and excellent. Breakfast was had numerous choices and the Collwall cooked breakfast has to be seen! We were served by a most efficient, friendly humorous member of staff who worked alone with such efficiency and had fantastic communication skills. It made an excellent start to the day. Wonderful walks from the hotel, but Collwall itself was disappointing but the train station is a minute away ( no noise) and so you could easily travel to Ledbury etc. Room was clean and comfortable and again the bar staff were all friendly and efficient. Having stayed in many hotels for business purposes it was the staff that impressed, along with excellent food, comfort and a beautiful building. Due to the rain we stayed in longer but found a sitting room with ample board games, helped by a bottle of wine, well fed and tired after walking we had a lovely evening!

Review 16:There were not enough staff for a fairly large hotel on a weekend in august. waiting 25 minutes to check in is not acceptable. Our room was very tatty and in need of major work. The dining room of which the waiting staff were very proud looked lovely,. I looked up at the amazing vaulted ceiling and saw that the newly installed downlighters were hanging out of the ceiling by the wires and you could see masking tape hanging down. not very good.

Review 17:The restaurant food was brilliant . They are trying to tidy up the public rooms but the attention to detail is poor.

Review 18:The duvet was a bit too warm to have on a shared double bed.

Review 19:A lovely, relaxing hotel near the hills with lots of space to meet friends or to sit quietly and read. The staff could not have been more helpful both in reception and in the bar and dining-room.

Review 20:This hotel was £130/Night.... No shower in our bathroom, it was built into the eaves so you had to sit down in the bath... One night we returned to the hotel just before midnight... There would be no bar/ facilities / anything open. I've stayed in the Guoman overlooking Tower Bridge for less than I paid here - and it has facilities beyond anything this place would dream of... This hotel trades on being the only one in the area - it over-sells itself and massively under delivers (Though breakfast was nice). No I won't return and would not recommend it. Over-priced, not an enjoyable stay.

Review 21:Breakfast

Review 22:We were not told that refurbishment would be taking place, it did not help to make our stay relaxing. Also the breakfast on the second morning was a shambles.

Review 23:Lovely bedroom with very comfortable bed.

Review 24:Staff not able to deal with requests adequately. Even breakfast order was not taken properly. Receptionist didn't seem to . pass on our request to housekeeping either. Dissappointed when said receptionist didn't even apologize when I pointed this out.

Review 25:hotel was in good location for the reason of our stay.

Review 26:Dining room staff were very slow and inadequately trained. Some quiet background music would have created a better ambiance. Carpet in our bedroom was very dirty and stained. No lift.

Review 27:Excellent food. Very comfortable bed - quality bed linen and towels.

Review 28:Re low rating for staff: the receptionist was awful on our arrival and I had telephoned in advance to confirm all details! He didn't improve during our stay. To be asked how I was paying before being shown to my room took me by surprise. Then to my amazement he asked for payment immediately because I'd said cash!!!

Review 29:We loved the main waiter, he was so full of fun!!!! He deserves a medal!! excellent food, lovely room with good facilities.

Review 30:I would not say it was a bad experience, but I felt my room was rather small, although it had a good view of the hotel grounds.I was slightly disappointed with the scarcity of vegetables in the dinner dishes, although the quality of the main item,ie.meat or fish, was very good.

Review 31:The staff were pleasant and helpful. I enjoyed the availabiity of lounges and the garden in which I could sit to read a newspaper or a book.

Review 32:The location is excellent - we walked straight up onto the hills. The hotel has a good balance of original features with a stylish refurbishment, and the rooms are very comfortable. Overall a very welcoming, relaxing place with great food and helpful staff.

Review 33:Excellent village location with ample private parking. Character building well presented, comfortable room with all facilities. Highlighted by a good seasonal menu that is well presented by Chris and his team.

Review 34:No milk in the room. No electric shaving point. Breakfast, food was good, but served in a deathly quiet room.

Review 35:Bedroom was good with a comfortable bed. Decor was very good.

Review 36:Dining room was an impressive room but the table dressing was a bit grubby and my butter had a fingerprint on it.

Review 37:Comfortable accommodation in nice area and easy to get to. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 38:I hear that some staff laughed at my friend who has a debilitating illness - very bad indeed - ALL customer-facing roles should be respectful of ALL customers, regardless of whether they are 'different' or not.

Review 39:Very close to station/facilities

Review 40:The room was looking a little tired in particular the shower and screen, but given the price and the staff it should not put any one off

Review 41:The staff are polite, attentive and seem genuinely motivated to the customers needs. The location is in the heart of the Malverns and is in a quiet area

Review 42:The staff were most helpful and extremely friendly. Room and bathroom very clean and well laid out. Dinner was excellent, as was the breakfast; plenty of choice, well cooked, well presented and the service from staff could not be faulted.

Review 43:Iron burn on the hall carpet.

Review 44:Room was decorated nicely, very clean and bed was nice and comfy. Good quality tea and coffee facilities. Breakfast was great, lots of choices and great service.

Review 45:The entrance to the hotel does not do it justice in my opinion but the hotel is currently being refurbished and so this may be due to change.

Review 46:We had a superior double room and the bed was a super king size which was very comfortable. The food in the restaurant was excellent both at breakfast and dinner. The staff were all friendly and courteous and the manager clearly values his guests.

Review 47:Limited continental breakfast, which was disappointing considering the cost of the B&B. Unnecessary to have central heating on in the middle of June. This made the room very hot, even with the windows open.

Review 48:Good friendly staff, excellent car parking facilities. Good sized room.

Review 49:As you might expect in an old establishment, the floors were very creaky in our room and the en suite door very squeaky. The room was quite small. One night was fine but don't think we would have wanted longer.

Review 50:Excellent breakfast. Nice view of garden from room. Very clean bathroom.

Review 51:Would have preferred a king size bed and larger room but it was fine.

Review 52:Loved the overall feel of the hotel, particularly the upstairs lounge and bedrooms. Every room was decorated differently so felt quite homely. Breakfast was cooked to order and excellent. Housekeeping very thorough.

Review 53:I had booked for 2 adults for 2 rooms but they only had one adult booked with the other persons address. However they provided a twin room which was fine.

Review 54:Housekeeping staff seemed to be short staffed and over worked. Continental breakfast was "mean" with only fruit and cereals and small croissants. No cold meats or cheeses etc. Small bedroom with no fridge, no biscuits on the tea tray and poor bedside lighting; I don't think it was quite up to 3 star standard and not worth £150 a night.

Review 55:Evening meal is excellent and dining room is not overcrowded. Helpful, friendly staff. Comfortable and relaxing. Good car park.

Review 56:We had booked a suite but I didn't realise it was a family room. So not a complaint as such, just felt like we were being a little bit wasteful, my Wife and I and nobody else with us. Admittedly the area was heavily booked up, as like many other people we were there for the Malvern Spring Festival nearby. The only rooms available were suites.

Review 57:The bed was incredibly comfortable. Spacious suite. Very clean.

Review 58:The rooms have had some refurbishment and there were some minor maintenance issues but it didn't detract from our overall stay.

Review 59:The staff were happy, polite and attentive and the food was excellent. We had a 4 year old with us who had crayons and colouring in books waiting for him in the room, so children are well looked after too.

Review 60:I found the single bed hard and uncomfortable, but i was aware that i'd booked the last room in the hotel. so i expect other rooms might have had more comfortable beds and parts of the hotel are being refurbished, which is good.

Review 61:Anna the receptionist was outstanding, due to her friendly and professional manner. She was on the ball! I like the peaceful location, but close to Malvern and other main routes. The staff were a friendly bunch and they made the place, i think many have been there for some years, which is unusual in the hotel industry. The hotel was full due to RHS flower show near Malvern. The evening meals proved to be popular in both the restaurant and bar, as both full.

Review 62:Sad to see that the hotel needs some TLC in the half timbering.

Review 63:We enjoyed the area and would like to return walk the Malvern hills and around. We visited for the celebration of the life of an old friend who died in february. It was a great occasion at the Colwall village hall.

Review 64:Your friendly staff made us all wonderful sandwiches and chips after our gig, it was quite late. Good wine also. The presentation was excellent and made a wonderful end to our evening. Great breakfast in the morning.

Review 65:Lack of a lift to 2nd floor; chilly passage to our room. Room rather cold because radiators had not been bled - a shame.

Review 66:Warm welcome. One exceptional, several very good members of staff. Breakfast superb, bar meals very good. Comfortable and civilised lounges, and bedroom spacious and very comfortable.

Review 67:The twin beds were rather uncomfortable which particularly affected my sleep. There was also no proper catch on the bathroom door and we were surprised that only five coat hangers were supplied.

Review 68:The food in the restaurant where we had our breakfasts and in the bar where we had our evening meals was always excellent and freshly cooked. There was also a good atmosphere in the bar and there were several pleasant lounges to sit in.

Review 69:The hotel was fairly olde style and a little tired in places. The food was mediocre.

Review 70:The bed was comfortable and the hotel friendly. The bar is nice and comfortable and a restaurant for more formal dining. The staff were excellent and very thoughtful.

Review 71:Very good food. Excellent location and lovely garden. The rooms were very clean and cosy and the whole hotel had a really nice relaxing feel to it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Ideal for those wanting a peaceful break in the beautiful Malvern Hills.

Review 72:The breakfast was very poor. The sausage was very low quality, we were served coffee and then ignored and had to chase the waiter to take our order. Day 2 was a little better and our order taken promptly but we did not get what we ordered. I would not recommend the cooked breakfast to anyone.

Review 73:Where it was The staff and in particular the young girl on reception. We had a problem with a noisy TV in the adjoining room and we were moved immediately to another room, with no fuss.

Review 74:Very clean, quiet and hospitable. The meal in the hotel restaurant was excellent and the grounds were lovely. They obviously care about their service: I even got a thank you letter for filling in their feedback questionnaire.

Review 75:The only downside was on one night whilst there there was some noisy guests who had been in the bar and decided to hold a noisy conversation on the landing next to my room at midnight.

Review 76:The rooms were very comfortable and the staff were very helpful. The hotel itself is very tidy and it has the Olde English feel to it. The food was very good and there was a good selection of ales at the bar. I would certainly recommend this hotel to others.

Review 77:Extra for breakfast creaky stairs & floors noisy neighbours after 11.00

Review 84:Meal in the restaurant, the attentive waiting staff.

Review 85:Everything. Very comfortable and friendly hotel.

Review 86:The staff are excellent and the most helpful we have known especially the evening staff. Bed really comfortable and the room very clean.

Review 87:very comfortable hotel with all the facilities we needed

Review 88:Breakfast room could do with finishing off, hard acoustics, echoey, too formal

Review 89:Friendly staff. Good breakfast.

Review 90:It's a little out of the way

Review 91:Fantastic food in the restaurant. One of the best meals we've ever had.

Review 92:Was accidentally charged twice, however staff very quickly remedied.

Review 93:There were renovations going on which disrupted the access to the bedrooms.

Review 94:Location and old world charm

Review 95:There wasn't anything we didn't like.

Review 96:The staff were extremely courteous. Lovely bedroom and excellent food'

Review 97:The ordinary rooms are small and there is no lift (we were on the second floor)

Review 98:The bar atmosphere and possibility of having a meal there

Review 99:Great friendly staff, lovely ambience

Review 100:The receptionist, the food, the decor, the need to pre-authorize your credit card on arrival

Review 101:Close to our friends' home

Review 102:The friendliness of the staff. The dining experience.

Review 103:Beautiful hotel in a beautiful surrounding. Service was always with a smile and nothing was too much trouble.

Review 104:The food in the restaurant

Review 105:Need new mattresses.

Review 119:Very helpful staff.

Review 120:Beautiful hotel and staff that went out of their way to make us happy. Beautiful rooms in the middle of a village, great restaurant on site!

Review 121:Wifi was very patchy in the room and kept on dipping out, very frustrating
