Reviews for Hotel du Lion d'Or
Review 1:Nothing... it was great.
Review 2:The location was amazing. We were just down the street from the beautiful site and we were even able to lean out the window and take amazing pictures of it. It was a short walk through the shops to reach the beginning of the grand staircase. The rooms were very well priced. We had a room with a double and 2 twins and it was more than sufficient for our family of 4. We enjoyed dinner at the hotel's restaurant (across the street) and they went out of their way to accommodate our family member who had dietary restrictions. They even created a dessert for her using a few items that were determined to be acceptable. Very friendly restaurant staff, especially since we arrived late and had special food issues to deal with. A wonderful visit, we would definitely return to the same hotel and restaurant.
Review 3:We're not the owners :) Seriously: wi-fi not really working in the room, downstairs was much better, though. A bit bizarre parking system, because of restricted space at the base of a rock.
Review 4:Location is brilliant. View from the balcony - along the main street, and the chapel up on the rock - outstanding. Stuff exceedingly courteous: we came late and there was no problem with late check-in (no additional fees, either). Due to high season we hadn't found a room for three nights, so we made two separate bookings of two different rooms to cover all our stay in Rocamadour - and they swapped reservations, so that we could stay in the same one. Laundry service for a reasonable fee (€10).
Review 5:- old style mass tourism hotel - corridor is very narrow - wlan signal quite bad, except at the reception of the building - parking situation is very complicated due to the geography of the site (it might be easier in the hotels of the neighbooring village). The hotel has a kind of parking but depending on the place, you have to give the car key to reception so that they can move the cars etc.) - the building could have a receptionist (there is a free desk at entrance) but hasn't, so you need to go to the receptionist of the main building.
Review 6:- the city is a must see on a travel in the region - location of the hotel inside the city (not in the neighbooring village as many other hotels)
Review 7:Parking is available with the hotel. Park first and then check in or you will struggle to find somewhere to park up whilst you go to reception
Review 8:The location puts you right in the heart of Rocamadour which allows you to wander around after the bulk of the visitors have gone.
Review 9:The hotel is in the perfect spot for visiting the village. There was private parking which was useful as it is quite busy and parking could be a problem at the height of the season. Views from the hotel were stunning.
Review 10:Reception very friendly an helpful. There wasn't tea or coffee facilities in the room but on asking for a kettle we were given one. Would have been better if available in the room. No air conditioning in room temperature over 38. Very uncomfortable to try and sleep.
Review 11:Very warm, no fan or air con, tiny attic window.
Review 12:Location, staff, parking arrangement so close to village. Comfortable bed, quiet nights sleep in pedestrian street.
Review 13:We were met by a miserable rude man who said that he hadn't got our booking and proceeded to make us very uncomfortable until a nice English lady came in and helped us. If she hadn't turned up we would have left even though it was late in the evening.
Review 14:The location is stunning with views over the valley, but this hotel obviously feels that it didn't have to try.
Review 15:Rooms are a bit dated. New carpet and new beds and bed covers would really make this a great hotel.
Review 16:Lovely owner, extremely helpful with sightseeing suggestions.
Review 17:The staff were welcoming and helpful and their suggestions were appreciated both in the hotel and restaurant. The room and shower were well furnished, comfortable and clean. Although the room overlooked the road there was little noise to affect our sleep. Although parking is restricted and at time difficult the staff helped with suggestions of alternatives and how to get there.
Review 18:Bathrooms are small, but what can you expect when the hotel has been built into the side of the gorge.
Review 19:In the middle of everything. Staff knowledgeable and helpful. Great Parking. Will go back and stay longer. Great view. Great place
Review 20:-Unfortunately the only downside we found was that the walls seemed to be very thin and we could hear our neighbours clearly which did disturb our sleep when they were up in the night to go to the toilet etc. Pack some ear plugs and the problem is sorted.
Review 21:-The location is perfect as the hotel is is on the main street in Rocamadour -The staff were all very nice particularly the receptionist who was very helpful -We had amazing views of the town and the valley from our room
Review 22:The room was very tiny, the furniture and the carpet are pretty old.
Review 23:The location (just at the entrance of the village), the free parking, the breakfast room with a view on the valley, the modern and clean bathroom
Review 24:Being outside the village was not expected and so close to the noisy road was dreadful. Our rooms were right where cars and buses accelerated to go up the hill.
Review 25:Everything was good, especially the staff who were very friendly. For a two star rating, we thought it was great.
Review 26:Not a lot.
Review 27:Friendly staff wonderful position with a great value and quality restaurant.
Review 28:badly managed parking, very small room, really old building
Review 29:convenient location
Review 30:It's very convenient and clean, and we finally have a place that provided good wifi service.
Review 31:- Uncomfortable and noisy bed. - Noisy room (very thin walls) - Poor breakfast.
Review 32:Location.
Review 33:Nothing
Review 34:The hotel is in the cite and has free parking.
Review 35:Staff are so helpful, and speak English if required. Great location. Great value for money
Review 36:Location and the pleasant restaurant
Review 37:Only one thing not enough menu for vegetarian people. Otherwise nothing.
Review 38:The place was awesome
Review 39:A duvet on bed would have been nice as blankets now seem very heavy.
Review 40:Wonderful location and views. Lady on reception was most helpful and welcoming.
Review 41:All ok.
Review 42:Location. Kindness of staff
Review 43:Great location away from the noise of the Main Street and parking was very handy.
Review 44:The car park was too far
Review 45:The staff and the view
Review 46:nothing
Review 47:really good cmbination of old exterior and modern bedrooms and bathrooms
Review 48:Amazing location and surroundings
Review 49:Fantastic location with spectacular view. Free parking. Very good restaurant.
Review 50:The room was small with TV in a terrible location (watch your head)! However location made up for it as time in room was minimal
Review 51:Location was fabulous to the medieval city
Review 52:Free parking and within easy walking distance of the church and museum. Room looked out over the valley. Breakfast was average but great view from the dining room.
Review 53:On arrival I noticed the little train ran a night trail to see the illuminated cliff hugging buildings, as it was early in the season I asked if it was already running and was told it was at 9.45pm outside the hotel. We ate early and came back to the train stop and as the clock seemed to indicate the set off time as 10.45, I went in to ask at the reception what the situation was. I was told that it was only running on the following (Sat) evening which quite upset me and all our plans. We went for a walk and completely by chance came back to find the train being boarded and ready to roll. I was shocked by the lack of consistent and correct information being given out by hotel staff (same person) about something that actually happens outside their own front door. It doesn't leave a good impression.
Review 54:We stayed in the main hotel which had a lift and wonderful views from our room. The bathroom was spacious by comparison with similarly rated hotels as was the room but that was probably oniy because it was a triple. The welcome was warm and friendly.
Review 55:There is absolutely nothing to dislike
Review 56:the staff could not have been more helpful and charming: from the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcomed and helped with telephoning taxis, next hotel etc. A lovely warm and easy atmosphere without being too familiar. Quite PERFECT
Review 57:Restaurant associated with hotel - the food wasn't great.
Review 58:Friendly staff, clean rooms, quiet area. Located right as you enter the town. Free parking
Review 59:Unfortunately we felt there was only one male waiter who had any time for us and he was excellent with the children. Didnt catch his name but he had a goaty beard. We thought it was a one off but our experience only seemed to get worse the following morning when a different female receptionist had no inclination to even communicate with us before or after breakfast and only managed to speak (in very clear english I must add) when telling us the cost of the bill. In all my years of travelling the globe I have never come across such appalling attitude as I recieved that morning. I would be happy to discuss this further if need be.
Review 60:The hotel was ideally located and suitable for all our needs. Our initial greeting to the hotel was excellent and was warming as we arrived around 1900 and ready to eat. Room was a nice size for all four of us- excellent
Review 61:The bathroom need some light maintenance.
Review 62:Perfect location with convenient position in a marvelous environmental context. The staff has proven to be extremely helpful and friendly by e-mail, on the phone and in person. Very good quality/price ratio.
Review 63:A good hotel at a reasonable price. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. No problem at all parking our tandem in a secure garage. Reasonably priced food of a good quality served in a dining room with spectacular views over the valley. Worth an overnight stay to see the town at night and before the tourist buses arrive in the morning.
Review 64:We stayed in the annexe on the main road and had not realised it was on the side of a race track. Coaches reversing right outside our window and dropping off visitors, curtains did not close properly and we had streetlights in our room most of the night, cars and motorcycles racing up the hill outside our window, smokers outside the front door and smoke drifting upwards up into our room, people shouting when they came back late from the bars, no door on the toilet/bathroom, could not sit straight on the toilet as your knees hit the wall opposite, toilet seat did not fit and swivvled around, shower cubicle mouldy, shower hose twisted and old, cobwebs - I could go on forever. I know it was only a 2 star hotel but did expect a lot better than this. Breakfast also pretty boring even for a continental breakfast. Would not stay there again and thank God we only stayed one night!
Review 65:Look of main hotel from outside and what we saw of reception.
Review 66:It was absolutely fine for what we were looking for.
Review 67:The view from our room was amazing and the location is ideal as it was so close to the centre of the town. Parking is right next door to the hotel and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good value with a lovely view over the valley from the restaurant.
Review 68:Nothing.
Review 69:The Hotel was ideally located for walking into Rocamadour, the restaurant food had a range of prices to meet all budgets and the quality was excellent. The rooms were small but clean and modern, it had everything a tourist would need, especially the fantastic view. When we asked to extend our stay by an extra day, although the hotel was expecting two coaches of tourists to arrive, we were given two additional sets of room keys to choose the one that we felt best met our needs. The Owners and staff in the hotel and restaurant were fantastic, lovely people who could not be more helpful. We will most definitely stay here again.
Review 70:Breakfast was a little spartan, just juice, breads and coffee. Cerealswould be appreciated.
Review 71:The location was excellent, right in the mediaeval city. The staff spokeexcellent English, in fact the owner is English married to a French man.Rocamadour is an amzing place as is the countryside around it.
Review 72:Great location in middle of town
Review 73:Anything
Review 74:Everything
Review 75:The view from the bedroom and restaurant and the ambience of the hotel in general.
Review 76:Small room, no view

Review 79:Nice people
Review 80:We were in the annexe in a small room, no knowledge of main hotel.
Review 81:Location, staff very helpful.
Review 82:When booking room, indicated 3 adults but upon arrival only one doublebed. Had to upgrade and pay for larger roomo.
Review 83:Excellent and helpful staff
Review 84:Very thin walls
