Reviews for Cumbria Park Hotel
Review 1:Room was cramped, poorly refurbished and very noisy between rooms. At 2am I could hear every word of conversations in neighbouring rooms, earplugs recommended!
Review 2:Food in restaurant was excellent
Review 3:The room was disappointing they said it would be big on the write up and individually decorated but it was just average. It was also quiet in the hotel so we could of been given a better room. It was a special occasion. We chose it above a premier inn because we wanted to eat there tea and breakfast and it said the rooms where spacious and the pictures made it look very good. An expensive one night. The hotel was a drive out of town and we had hoped to leave our car (as encouraged on write up) and go shopping this did add to the expense.
Review 4:Friendly welcoming staff, beds very comfy and they were flexible with booking. Plenty of hot water.
Review 5:Overpriced food especially room service, average £9 for a sandwich a little unreasonable. Otherwise it was a perfect stay!
Review 6:Clean, comfy bed, large room, most important was we asked for quiet room & it was perfect. Easy access to shops/takeaways.
Review 7:the room was lovely, warm & clean. the bathroom was clean, toiletries provided & a nice hot shower. the restaurant staff were very helpful, & I felt comfortable there eating & sitting on my own
Review 8:The bridge closure due to floods had a big impact on our stay, and it would have been helpful to have known this prior to our stay.
Review 9:Good comfort and good value for money. The bus stop right outside the Hotel was very beneficial.
Review 10:Gym was terrible. Wifi didn't work in the room. 4 poster bed got in way of the TV as the left hand post blocked the view.
Review 11:The best bit was using the light at the top of the mirror instead of the broken main bathroom light .....
Review 12:SHOWER COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER. BREAKFAST ROOM RATHER COOL AND DULL.
Review 13:GREAT LOCATION, VERY CLOSE TO CARLISLE CENTRE, FRIENDLY STAFF, VERY GOOD BREAKFAST.
Review 14:The quality of the cooked breakfast could have been much higher. Also, although a grey winter weekend, the dining room where we had breakfast and our room were quite dark.
Review 15:Shower was not able to be moved for comfort use kept swinging into corner x
Review 16:Easy to find location x nice breakfast x room was spacious x staff really friendly and helpful
Review 17:We would have nothing bad to say if we hadn't waited 15 minutes at the desk ringing the bell trying to check out, when I went to find someone the lady was quite abrupt and didn't apologise only posting out she was on her own today, other than this the stay was fantastic and the woman on check in was very polite and helpful but not sure I would stay again after the lasting impression that our check out has left us with
Review 18:The room was perfect and the hotel was kept very clean and tidy
Review 19:Professional & friendly staff, a couple of minor problems were dealt with promptly & to complete satisfaction. Location ideal for town centre, only 15 mins walk.
Review 20:Staff very helpful, room was basic but very clean and very good car parking. Liked that we didn't have to book breakfast in advance - could decide on the morning.
Review 21:We couldn't connect to the free Wi-Fi, despite phoning reception for assistance, which was a little frustrating,
Review 22:We had travelled up from Portsmouth to watch the game at Brunton Park so the hotel was in an ideal location to get to the ground before the game and from the city centre afterwards. The beds were very comfortable too.
Review 23:Original room had no heating and was absolutely freezing. Told reception about it and we were moved to a tiny box room, no sort of compensation ie money off bill or free drinks or anything was offered. New room had a horrible tiny hard bed.
Review 24:Great location, good parking and friendly staff
Review 25:Limited breakfast for the price. Quite an old fashioned look and feel to the hotel, may appeal to some.
Review 26:Very clean hotel and friendly staff. Good off-road parking.
Review 27:Good location. Excellent free parking. Clean, very comfortable. Extremely amenable staff-gave me a downstairs room without requesting this facility as I mentioned mobility isssue which make me slow. Extremely good value for money!
Review 28:We found the hotel to be extremely clean and comfortable and the staff very helpful and friendly. The evening meal in the hotel restaurant was lovely too.
Review 29:Quality of breakfast definitely gone downhill, with good local produce readily available it seems a real shame.
Review 30:Great room (free upgrade much appreciated) very comfortable and plenty of on site parking.
Review 31:One of our party in room 124 was above the bar and there was a lot of noise on the Saturday night with wedding guests arriving back to party in the bar
Review 32:Value for money and comfy bed
Review 33:receptionist not to friendly, empty tissue boxes in bathroom and living room, it was supposed to be superier, dont think it was
Review 34:bed was comfy, stayed in better rooms in other hotels, for less money
Review 35:Friendliness of staff Lovely food and liked the chance to speak to such an enthusiastic chef who had time to explain the dishes on offer. The receptionist was very helpful when we had left a coat in the wardrobe and she arranged to post it on. Would definitely recommend this hotel as a good location to explore Cumbria and the lakes.
Review 36:Could not use the booking due to family work commitments - My trainee Vet son had to attend an emergency surgery that went on late into the evening and we did not manage to travel and use the booking. Due to the late cancellation we were unable to recoup the booking fee - fair enough.
Review 37:The room was tired and worn but acceptable and everso comfortable. The shower however was a joke. Almost no pressure, took ages to shower.
Review 38:The staff were fabulous.Helpful was not the word....above and beyond.
Review 39:There was no part of our stay that we could fault. Keep up the good work Cumbria Park.
Review 40:Have used this hotel several times, we were very pleased to be given an upgrade on arrival. Location great, staff very friendly from reception, bar staff, food service to housekeeping. Will certainly be back.
Review 41:Service at the bar and dining area was slow. Wrong paper delivered to room in the morning. Staff serving breakfast were forgetful and slow.
Review 42:Reception staff lovely and very helpful. Bedroom very clean and comfortable. Food was excellent although limited choice. Perfect romantic getaway from the children.
Review 43:Asked to move a room due to the shower not working working properly. In fairness they moved me as soon as I asked.
Review 44:Very friendly helpful staff. Breakfast and restaurant service and food , very good.
Review 45:Excellent stay once again. When checking in we found out we were being upgraded to a superior double at no extra cost as we have stayed with them before which was very nice. Good food friendly staff nothing a bother to them. Hotel was very clean can't find any fault looking forward to our next stay.
Review 46:When we first went to our room (was about 5pm) the room hadn't been cleaned and the bed not made but this was quickly put right by the staff, and even though that happened the staff were friendly. We would stay again
Review 47:Poor facility for a disabled person - staff member helpful in finding a room for a member of my family in a wheelchair that would allow him to use the en suite toilet in his bedroom. It took trying 5 bedrooms before 1 was found to allow the wheelchair close enough to the toilet to transfer - toilet door too narrow. The toilet was then too low and created problems transferring back into the chair. Also unable to use shower as over a bath and had problems reaching the sink to wash. There is wheelchair access into the premises and some rooms but not adapted for the user. Also a complaint put in as a gentleman entered the bedroom whilst my family member was using the toilet (door opened due to the wheelchair being against it therefore unable to close the bathroom door) leaving this person very compromised and embarrassed. still awaiting an explanation from management for this intrusion.
Review 48:Friendly helpful staff especially when trying to accommodate a member of my family who is a wheelchair user. Bedrooms good. Near to city centre could walk or take a bus.
Review 49:Very nice hotel, close to city center - £4 cab from the train station if you don't want to wait for the bus. Staff friendly and happy to help. Have a brief, but pleasant stay. Carlisle is also very close to Hadrian's Wall although, if visiting in fall or winter, you will have to check on ways to get there....not very straightfwd!!
Review 50:Synthetic duvets caused discomfort, too hot! No Theakstons available, not even bottles. No leaflets giving information of the Roman site.
Review 51:Staff excellent, good parking, nice room.
Review 52:I love this place, very helpful personnel, reliable price and good food.I would recommend this hotel to everyone. If I go there again, definitely I will stay again at this hotel.
Review 53:Carpark was useful as we did not know our way about. Staff were very pleasant, Meal in restaurant was very good although for an alsmost veggie the menu was very meat-based - everyone else loved the choice.
Review 54:No outlet for bathroom steam. Smelled like bathroom was damp because of this. 2 steep steps to reception.
Review 55:Bed very comfortable. Very large room. Just like rooms used to be. Brass bed base and surround. Very clean. Dining room massive and food for breakfast excellent.
Review 56:The noise from other rooms, particularly banging of doors and being woken at 2.15 a.m. one morning by noisy guests going to their room then playing music and talking loudly.
Review 57:I had a bad experience with this hotel.y husband made erro while booking my room. He had book to rooms instead of one. Then I have spent 2 night with my son in one room, when I have checked out and wheil having my breakfast the receptionist came to me and asked me to pay for the another room. It is absolutely the receptionist fault as she spouses to notice that before I checked in so she can solve it out. After paying them ( so Ivan leave I have emailed the hotel manager and he replied to ask me to contact booking
Review 58:Nothing
Review 59:Bathroom very dark and nowhere to put wash bag. Bedroom lighting wasn't good when using mirror.
Review 60:Food was good. Comfortable. Handy for walking into town.
Review 61:No bathmat. Scary warning notices in the bathroom about marking the towels with makeup and being charged for them. Slightly unfriendly receptionist in the evening. Beige rooms, beige carpets, beige hallways.
Review 62:Nice fish and chips served by a friendly waiter in the conservatory. Lots of hot water and a really big bedroom
Review 63:This is not a high cost boutique or five star luxury hotel, and should not be judged against high end hotels. Having used the hotel previously for a similar large gathering, its facilities were perfectly suited to the requirements of our party; comfortable clean rooms, ample parking and a good restaurant. We would certainly use the Cumbria Park again
Review 64:As above
Review 65:Unhelpful staff, breakfast was deplorable. Booked early arrival due to attending family funeral and the wake was held at the Cumbria Park Hotel. Not given access until after 2pm would not even allow luggage to be left at reception for convenience no apology just contempt. Would definitely not recommend comparable to an expensive hostel
Review 66:The staff and the food were excellent. It is very clean and well maintained. A classic older hotel/B&B style. It's quite large with a good sized car park. The rooms were clean and comfortable :D
Review 67:Only stayed a night, it was clean comfortable easily accessible but maybe a bit expensive for the facilities. It was about 10 min walk to city centre, but this was a bonus as it gets you away from the rowdy crowds on Saturday night!
Review 68:WiFi worked outside the room on the landing but not actually inside the room.
Review 69:Friendly staff and excellent waiter for special evening dinner with guests.
Review 70:Room lighting wasn't bright enough at night, one small room light off centre.
Review 71:Lots of small things like the doors opening automatically when you're carrying bags, large screen TV, free wifi. Parking nearby.
Review 72:Room was adequate staff friendly, paid £7.50 extra for a plastic breakfast after first night didn't bother the next morning. Did not eat in restaurant breakfast put us off . Would stay again if passing just wouldn't bother with breakfast
Review 73:Gym needs a serious up grade. A cross trainer is an essential. Other users agreed at the time. Whole hotel needs bringing up to date. Not even soap in bathroom sink so hands were not clean after using the toilet.
Review 74:No draught ale - barrel change needed. Poor bed needed new mattress. Very poor breakfast.
Review 75:Convenient location. Value for money evening meal. Not great but did the job.
Review 76:Breakfast only until 9am, bathroom very small and needed a refit, outside at the back could have been a nice area to have a drink, coffee etc. but looked uncared for and rundown.
Review 77:Position close to city centre, size of room. Dinner was good and served by pleasant helpful staff.
Review 78:I am not a great sleeper and the lovely Lillian got me tea milk during the night nothing was too much trouble for she is an asset to you Tell her Susie from Northern Ireland is asking for her . Lovely hotel nice staff .
Review 79:Staff had to re boot wifi but this went off again and again until unable to use Beds and pillows not comfortable Mould in bath room Door by our room kept banging most of the night
Review 80:The only thing I think the need to do is check that the curtains in the bedrooms at the front of the hotel have curtains that cover the whole of the windows so that the road noise is quietened.
Review 81:I liked the very friendly staff. The room was very comfortable and clean.
Review 82:Some of the decor looked tired and lighting generally in room made reading in bed difficult. Bedside light gace bad illumination.
Review 83:We felt very cared for and the staff made us feel valued and welcome and the facilities were very good
Review 84:Some of the rooms that overlook the car park can be a little noisy. In particular when a coach is parked outside the bedroom window with its engine running for 15 minutes early in the morning!
Review 85:The staff are always very accommodating and helpful and the hotel is well placed for ease of access into the city centre.
Review 86:my worst complaint was that there was no soap/shower gel, my husband and I were really annoyed. We bought our own soap first thing in the morning, really felt the staff should have has this organised.
Review 87:The location suited us best, and the breakfast was lovely. Felt our room needed updated.
Review 88:Not sure what makes scrambled egg that bad, sausages seemed very poor quality. No soaps in bathroom dispenser. Communal carpets needed a clean.
Review 89:Friendly reception and staff
Review 90:After a 350mile drive we came to a traditional hotel with good parking, clean, friendly, good catering, what more could you ask for? If we pass that way again that is where we will stop.
Review 91:What we both liked most about this hotel is the fact their was no road noise, considering the location of the hotel and being on a busy road, the bed was very comfortable. The staff was very helpful and the room was excellent value for money with a bath and over head shower, the hotel really have thought of every last bit of detail for rush packers.
Review 92:One small criticism, we were on the top floor and the water pressure in the shower was poor.
Review 93:We liked everything about the hotel and staff very helpful. We hope to cume back to Carlisle and would definitely stay here again.kkk
Review 94:Great staff . Very friendly . Fire alarm went off very early . But this did not spoil the overall visit . The internet was quite slow . The batman Andrew was proffesional and device was excellent .
Review 95:This is a personal thing but I prefer feather pillows and I found these ones rather hard.
Review 96:Excellent parking. Having driven from Essex I was tired an grumpy, so being able to park easily was a bonus.
Review 97:Decor dated, floors sloped in the bathroom, bed awful we rolled into the middle and while bed moved when we did terrible sleep . Shower poor took ages to get any hot water and pressure poor .
Review 98:Staff friendly except the barman a smile might have helped on the Saturday night, ate a meal on the Monday night and the restaurant was very good and staff very pleasant
Review 99:Nothing to dislike.
Review 100:The friendly welcome, and the relaxing drink in the bar in the evening. I slept better than I have in weeks and enjoyed breakfast with the attentive services of Gary who had our favourite table reserved for us. A real home from home.
Review 101:The staff Carla, John, Glenn, Gary & Andrew were excellent and their service was first class. The food for the evening meal and the breakfast was first class. Good quality and flavourful.
Review 102:We were given a free upgrade to an executive room. It was excellent. Stayed at Cumbria park on numerous occasions but this is the first upgrade we had from the normal double standard room. First class.
Review 103:The hotel is a little tired in regards of décor and equipment. However, it has a lot of positive notes in particular the staff.
Review 104:The staff and location are a positive.
Review 105:The fact that it was on a main road. How hot the room was (even with the fan) the shower had no pressure to it at all. It just trickled out.
Review 106:I liked location of this hotel. It was a nice walk into town, not to far. The staff were very friendly. Also we had a fan in our room without request (it was a hot weekend). They thought of everything
Review 107:A bit out of the way. Not much to do in the vicinity of the hotel.
Review 108:A good starting point for Hadrian's Wall. Easy to locate hotel with ample parking. The restaurant was good value and food was good.
Review 109:I'd booked this room for my grand daughter ( prior to her graduation the following day). She told me she had found excrement in her bathroom on arrival. I emailed the hotel and was told other guests had been effected ( sewage flow back?) I suggested that a quiet word with her would suffice ss i didnt want her to be made upset or embarrassed by my complaint. No one contacted my grand daughter that evening to investigate the problem as I told that the managers were on holiday. On managers return, she investigated the complaint and assured me that the room had been checked prior to the 2pm check in point. I was offered 10% refund off room cost. I.e £6.90 maximum as they didn't think the experience marred my grand daughters graduation experience !!! My point is that if the hotel was aware of similar problems surely someone must have been available to speak to my grand daughter that evening and recompense her by maybe changing rooms, or to do a thorough room clean whilst they offered her a complimentary drink in the bar. Common courtesy I think. Suffice to say their offer of £6.90 was declined. In my opinion they should have acted immediately and more appropriately.
Review 110:Location,parking
Review 111:A bedside lamp would have been nice.
Review 112:Really nice and security-conscious staff (special thanks to Amie). The room was very comfortable. The hotel also has a nice bar/restaurant. The location is convenient if you are coming by car from out of town. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the place. I would definitely stay there again.
Review 113:For two nights there was a coach parked outside our room which blocked out the light so we needed to put the light on. The car park was large enough for it to park elsewhere it ran its engine for quarter of an hour while loading passengers right outside our room.
Review 114:No bad experience as such, but felt that the Bathroom decor was a little tired.
Review 115:Friendly helpful staff. Open and comfortable bar and dining areas, where it was easy to relax.
Review 116:We arrived early Saturday so we could use the gym facilities only to find it closed at 12-30 so was disappointed about that but ended up visiting local gym
Review 117:The staff were friendly and welcoming on our arrival. We were in ideal position to walk into town to eat before watching a show at the sands. Great location and would definitely do it again
Review 118:We arrived at 10pm for a one-night stop, intending to leave first thing in the morning. Reception insisted that we pre-authorise a £10 charge on credit card. Said we would definitely not be eating / drinking in hotel, but were then told the £10 was 'against any damage we might cause'. Woken at 6am by bins being emptied. Will not use again.
Review 119:Quite well located for M6. Room was clean and wifi worked.
Review 120:Stayed here several times, new rule that we couldn't check in till 2pm , nowhere to store luggage so had to sit in the bar and wait as we were going to be out all day and evening. All over the world you can check in even if your room is not ready and get the paper work out of the way!! Wanted payment in advance this time. Alarm went off at 5.30 am!! staff could check and reset when servicing the rooms. Our room had no shelf or glasses in the bathroom for toothbrushes etc, and the shower gel was empty in 2 of the 3 rooms used by our party.
Review 121:Quiet location with plenty of free parking. rooms are comfortable and clean. Friendly but minimum staff.
Review 122:Were advised I was coming by bicycle but it seemed to be a surprise; they made me lock it up outside Place quite tired WI-FI did not work
Review 123:Convenient to Carlisle
