Reviews for Mount Pleasant Hotel
Review 1:The light coming in our room very bright ,maybe black out curtains could be put up as a light right outside window on the bank inside flower beds room 14 second floor .did keep us awake
Review 2:The whole hotel was lovely and clean and warm ,staff friendly and helpful ,breakfast good choices overall a good stay will be back thanks to all staff
Review 3:The Hotel was rather tired and the heating was poor.
Review 4:Location was excellent in the heart of Great Malvern. The room was spacious and adequately furnished and the bathroom had a Jacuzzi bath. Breakfast was good too.
Review 5:Room 6 Heating was rather erratic - otherwise Good sized room but bathroom could do with a shelf near the sink - just a suggestion!
Review 6:Food was Excellent - Good sized portions and very reasonable prices!
Review 7:TV service very poor. Rattling and banging sash windows resulting in a disturbed nights sleep in an otherwise lovely room.
Review 8:Location of hotel, comfy beds & spa bath. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely hotel in need of a little tlc
Review 9:Pictures advertised were extemely misleading. Nervous and awkward staff. Odd temperature in room. Over sensitive firealarms. Extreme noise and antisocial people directry outside our window. No bath, small shower and generally grim feel to the whole room. Coffee was cold at breakfast.
Review 10:Location is fantastic. Main breakfast menu - brilliant value for money. Main bar and restaurant has lovely atmosphere.
Review 11:Room was cold and heating was inadequate. We had to go to bed to keep warm and watch television. Very noisy with early morning road traffic. Dining room was taken up with private parties at dinner.
Review 12:size of room. Private parking. good breakfast.
Review 13:unfortunately our room was above the cellar coolers that kept my partner awake most of the night & the building works in the morning also disturbed us
Review 14:The staff here are fantastically helpful, the hotel is right at the heart of Great Malvern, the view from the carpark/smoking area is beautiful. We weren't able to test out the food as we had prior commitments
Review 15:The TV didn't work, which was an inconvenience for my father, however the staff were very apologetic and offered to swap rooms for him.
Review 16:Food was great, huge portions.
Review 17:The breakfast was very poor. Porridge was like dishwater and I had to send my eggs back twice before they got them right although I was specific about wanting soft poached eggs. Bacon of poor quality and coffee undrinkable. Service at breakfast poor.
Review 18:Very good location
Review 19:Bathroom was below the standard we would have expected. Dodgy mastic, lifting lino, tired looking fittings. Bedroom window frame had some mould and peeling paint.
Review 20:Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. In house dinner was outstanding.
Review 21:Rooms are slightly old fashioned (you get what you pay for): it would be nice if there were two bedside lights in the bedrooms, for example. And maybe some muesli at breakfast.
Review 22:Food was excellent and good value, staff were great.
Review 23:Room suffered badly from noise at night coming I think from the generator or plant room. Impossible to sleep - hence Comfort rating score.
Review 24:Excellent location and nice spotless room which although a single was quite large. Food was good too.
Review 25:Guests need to understand that while this may once have been in a very posh hotel, it now has what you might call faded glory. It's generally rather old and tired.
Review 26:This hotel is in a really excellent position in Malvern, close to the Priory Church and all the main shops, as well as being close to the hill walking routes. Staff we encountered were all friendly, polite, willing and cheerful. Breakfasts were really very good. The deal we got through booking.com was a lot less expensive than the normal hotel rate and in fact was about the right price for what it is, we thought.
Review 27:Room needed modernising, radiators didn't work. Only on timer but never came on. Was given a oil filled radiator the size of a postage stamp, would not advise to go there to anyone. Worst hotel I've stayed in. The view from the window was looking over a building site. Waste land, bitterly disappointed with the whole stay
Review 28:Breakfast was ok
Review 29:Not a bad experience, but the hotel could be described as "faded grandeur" - needs a lot of investment to update décor and facilities
Review 30:The hotel is perfectly located for the Malvern theatres and restaurants, but also for getting onto the hills for a good walk
Review 31:No bad experience but a little more variety in the evening meals might have been useful.
Review 32:Excellent and convenient site in Grt. Malvern with facilities that met all of our needs. Breakfast menu very good and we appreciated the daily fruit.
Review 33:After travelling from Bristol to spend night with partner we were turned away after we were told the card was declined, it was declined upon booking was there saying , we felt very embarrassed as we have spent many nights in many hotels and never had any problems. We had to sit on a bench in the cold until we had full funds of the room, they then charged us more money for the room 75 pound. A very bad experience we spent money getting to the hotel costing 20.40 and also lost money on food we were supposed to pick up. We've used booking.com on many occasions and have 4 days booked for this weekend which we are very excited about but we are surprised to have had such a bad experience.
Review 34:Room size good
Review 35:Very old fashioned rabbit warren of a place with wonky floors. Overlooking a building site at the back and what sounded like a big extractor fan nearby. Shower was very old and feeble.
Review 36:The location and the bed was comfortable.
Review 37:Breakfast was a bit of a disaster - our order got lost somewhere!
Review 38:Excellent position in centre of town and magnificent view over the Severn Valley and virtually direct access to the Malvern Hills. Has its own parking on the doorstep
Review 39:The girl who booked us in was a breath of fresh air. we only stayed one night and this young lady went out of her way to help in every matter. all staff were friendly which made our stay most enjoyable.
Review 40:The cleanliness of the bathroom in particular left a lot to be desired as did the age of the bathroom fittings. The tv worked intermittently as did the kettle. A hotel that could do with a bit of time and money spending on it.
Review 41:The young staff were very helpful and attentive.
Review 42:nothing. only slight negative was there was no lift.
Review 43:very central location convenient for the theatre and good parking. Superb view from one of our rooms. Staff extremely friendly and very helpful. Would be very pleased to stay again.
Review 44:Cooked breakfast was fine but making your own toast on a faulty toaster from a sliced bread plastic bag was odd!
Review 45:Room was clean but very old fashioned.
Review 46:On the morning of the Malvern Show, Saturday, the breakfast we had paid for was too late to enable us to be at the show at the start. We went to Witherspoons. The room and bathroom were very cold and the small plug in radiator was not adequate. There was no-one on hotel reception to give our key to, as we checked out. 2 staff members arrived as we were leaving.
Review 47:There appeared to be only one member of staff carrying out lots of roles - for example, checking us in, taking us to our room, working late and serving breakfast. She gave us good service.
Review 48:Disorganised at reception on arrival, although it was a new member of staff. Wifi did not work consistently which affected an important online conference. TV reception very bad but was corrected within 45 minutes of reporting it. Breakfast buffet had minimal selection and stale coffee in machine although a fresh cup was brought from the bar. Overall disappointing which was a shame as it has great potential. Rather pricey for what we experienced.
Review 49:Good location for walking into town and the Priory. Bedroom a good size.
Review 50:Hot water cut out twice during our 24 hour stay, once when my husband was in the shower. Breakfast was very good but let down by jug of hot water and tea bag for tea - a pot would have made a huge difference.
Review 51:stunning view from the bedroom. Old fashioned but clean and comfortable
Review 52:Very limited menu and often they had run out of choices. Booking in was non existent- very disorganised Strange to only have an Ipad for booking in etc.
Review 53:Very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 54:The hotel is very run down and bedrooms are tatty to say the least. Nohot water in the evening. No food apart from sandwiches at 8.00 pm. Alousy, greasy breakfast and old world bed & breakfast feel to theplace. They also took a £50 bond in case I didn't pay my bill eventhough they had my c/c details and booking.com had already takenmoney. All in all a bad experience
Review 55:Location
Review 56:this hotel needs alex polizzi the hotel fixer, the staff here are arrogant and have no front of house experience and they try to charge you a 50 pound deposit for breakages in case you leave without paying or pinch anything.i had already paid for the room, food was disgusting in restaurant first 2 items were off .and towels in room were dirty with frays and holes in them
Review 57:the hotel is in a beautiful location and the building is fantastic very old and a listed building the views from the room were amazing.
Review 58:Did not advise us there was a wedding, lounge overcrowded and very noisy. Couldn't use restaurant because it was full of wedding guests sitting drinking. My 83 year old father was put in a room directly outside the function room where music was playing until midnight and then guests were talking and shouting for some time after. The staff were all young and it appeared there was no-one in authority to control the wedding guests. We had to go out for an evening meal and had trouble getting back into the hotel due to drunken people blocking the front and back entrances. Our car was blocked in for 5 hours so if we'd wanted to leave we wouldn't have been able to do so. Dreadful views out of our room due to unfinished building work.
Review 59:Central location, good size rooms
Review 60:Staff - shortage most of the time no one at the reception on Saturday there was a party and music was on till late with people talking outside window - room was on the first floor could not sleep at all till late Breakfast was sad
Review 61:Location was good on the main road
Review 62:The food was poor,Had breakfast two mornings.Had dinner one evening.my evening meal awas poor and also breakfast. This spoiled my stay as I want a decent meal served to me.
Review 63:Hotel near to where I wanted to go.
Review 64:The only imperfection - a bigger shower cubicle would be welcome, or alternatively a bath. But it all worked fine !!
Review 65:Location is ideal, you just step right into the town at the front, and into the hills at the back ! Car park very convenient and much valued. Staff were SO helpful, late access was easy, it's a lovely period building with "atmosphere".
Review 66:The hotel is an old building and our room was clean but a bit tired and in need of fresh decorating. I guess it's a work in progress.
Review 67:Very friendly staff, basic but tasty menu. Good parking area. The best bar in Great Malvern for décor, comfort, and staff attention. Great view from our room.
Review 68:No Wi-Fi that I could tell
Review 69:My little boy has adhd and finds it very hard to sit down for any length of time and the hotel staff were brilliant with him very patient and helpful
Review 70:The bedroom was very dated, seems to be in time warp from the 80's but the bed very comfortable and room clean. Could have done with more tea, coffee and milk, also one packet of biscuits and when I say one packet, I mean 2 lonely biscuits!!. We did find the room cold in the evening. As for the bathroom, how small can it be and so old fashioned but clean. Staff were very friendly though and breakfast quite good. Very overpriced for the quality of room, have stayed in far superior Bed and Breakfasts!! We would come back if things improved but next time we are in Mallvern will be staying in a Bed and Breakfast. Or as my husband said lovely staff but hotel was faded grandeur and SHABBY CHIC!!
Review 71:Location was great and the bed comfortable, breakfast acceptable
Review 72:Having to wait 40 minutes for breakfast and on delivery was found to be inedible. Uncooked in parts and very greasy. Not up to there usual standard. Rooms are looking tired now.
Review 73:The location is great. Overlooking the abbey.
Review 74:There are a lot of steps in the hotel even though we were on the first floor. Really difficult for the elderly.
Review 75:Staff very helpful and couldn't do enough.
Review 76:Wasps in the bedroom. Poor TV pixelated all the time. NO way of contacting reception at night as wrong code put in for diverts. No response form manager as yet.
Review 77:One hour and 20 minutes wait for breakfast on Sunday morning! We have young children and were seated in the bar, next to the toilets as there was insufficient space in the breakfast room. We were also charged twice at checkout by incompetent staff and are still fighting to get a refund.
Review 78:room a bit shabby. Sunday breakfast very poor. Tea not fresh, Portions measly. Butter and jam in nasty little packs. Not a good experience
Review 79:Good location, friendly staff, spacious room
Review 80:Very poor decoration, very old fixtures and fittings. Poor quality breakfast at the cost it was, When brought to staff attention, no one seemed bothered. Will not return
Review 81:Location and views
Review 82:The whole experience. Couldn't wait to leave. Made me physically sick. The view from the room was a building site. The staff couldn't care one jot.Asked for a simple glass of iced water, to be told no ice. It's a hotel for goodness sake.Nobody had the gumption to go and buy a few bags from a shop.................
Review 83:Electric shower not very powerful. No lift. Was a bit noisy on Saturday night with a 30th birthday party in full swing
Review 84:Good location, friendly staff, free car park
Review 85:Slightly shabby. Lots of character and potentially nice interior but could reply do with a bit of upgrading.
Review 86:Great location libel building nice people great view
Review 87:Bathroom of room No 1 is very small / cramped with no spa bath only a shower. The standard of the evening meal was not very good, everything over cooked.
Review 88:Customer service particularly from Ben - Excellent room (No 1) - Closeness to the town.
Review 89:Every aspect of the hotel is tired and skimping on any quality. No shampoo etc in the bathroom, poorly flushing toilet (already raised by others and not sorted) very dangerous shower boiling hot and the cold, very basic breakfast with cornflakes or weetabix - muesli too exotic. The standard is really inexcusable in this day and age and is more like a very down market bed and breakfast. I would not recommend staying here.
Review 90:Friendly staff trying hard
Review 91:Breakfast selection limited but ok for a one night stay. Decor and fittings dated but as expected from photos and reviews.
Review 92:Convenient location, easy walking distance to shops, theatre and restaurants. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 93:There were definite cleaning issues in room, needed someone to give it a thorough clean.
Review 94:We wanted location close to Malvern Show with parking and this was ideal. Basic hotel with limited menu but probably good value for money.
Review 95:breakfasts were a disaster, 40 min wait for cooked breakfast and then some items were inedible. Not enough tables for all the guests. One of our rooms had not heating. Not fixed during our 3 day stay.
Review 96:comfy beds
Review 97:Mattress wasn't great - too soft. Windows were rotten and didn't close properly. That combined with no double glazing and the main road outside means a fair bit of traffic noise overnight if you stay in a front-facing room.
Review 98:Good breakfast. Pleasant bar. Centrally located for Great Malvern. Water pressure was good for the shower and hot water was plentiful.
Review 99:The original room had no shower but it was sorted out immediately
Review 100:The staff at the bar were excellent and had plenty of conversation as I was on my own,I will stay there again when in the area
Review 101:Not enough staff on duty at breakfast meant long wait for service. Could make better use of first floor as residents lounge. Hotel needs a refresh.
Review 102:Fantastic location.
Review 103:Breakfast a bit poor, not much choice, cooked brekkie a bit burnt. Not enough plates, cutlery, choice of juice, cereal, jams etc.,
Review 104:Where hotel situated and views!
Review 105:The toilet in the bathroom didn't flush, and the 2 toilets on the same floor, were locked! I therefore had to trek downstairs in the night. The kettle was faulty. I've already requested a refund.
Review 106:Rspectable hotel, but a few flaws. -- Low quality bed sheets. Primitive shower with fluctuating water temperature. Breakfast OK, but scrambled eggs overcooked and coffee only made with filter.
Review 107:Perfect location, close to attractions in Great Malvern & path to hills. Large car park.
Review 108:Bathroom had foul smell we requested & got a room change.mattress propped on landing, bags of dirty laundry left on landing entire length of stay. Tired rooms , poor breakfast.
Review 109:Overall - decor is in need of updating - room was clean but carpet felt old and dirty- smelly shower curtain on bath
Review 110:Location Warm was room and bed was comfortable
Review 111:Wifi from The Cloud was tricky and required sign in constantly Surely hotel should have its own !
Review 112:Magic town very picturesque and historic. Hotel at the top of the town with good car park
Review 113:The fact that we got a message on route from Kent saying we had to be put in another hotel, even though I booked before Christmas!!!!
Review 114:At least they paid the difference for our stay at another hotel
Review 115:Sleeping at the front of the hotel the road was noisey. Could do with better insulation on windows
Review 116:Relaxing environment, friendly staff, very good sized room. Highly recommend.
Review 117:It's fair to say that this hotel has faded grandeur, but what it lacks in mod-cons and up to date décor, it more than makes up for with friendly and customer-focussed staff.
Review 118:During my stay over the Christmas period I accidentally locked myself out of my room and couldn’t get back in again for several hours as there were no staff on duty and the hotel was locked up. For breakfast I was served croissants that were inedible because they were still raw. I would never stay at this hotel again.
Review 119:This hotel is in an excellent location but is shabby and in need of a lot of maintenance.
Review 120:First stayed here in the summer for my birthday, enjoyed our stay so much returned again for my partners birthday. Fabulous staff and great location.
Review 121:bathroom needs work shower temp not constant w c had to hold lid down to flush and to took many times to clear
Review 122:Very quiete and comfy breakfast time was great
Review 123:Dated furniture and decor needs a good make over. Shower was scalding hot and dangerous in our room I got burned our friends could not shower as no water pressure sorry but would not come again
Review 124:Good location
Review 125:Arrived later in the evening, bar food only available till 2100 room looked tired and in need of an upgrade bathroom again needs refurbishment, shower next to useless. Bed uncomfortable and pillows hard and again not very comfortable. My company booked this and not one I would have chosen
Review 126:Breakfast was nice
Review 127:Bed was creaky and mattress needed throwing. But the Manager replaced it immediately with a much better one. And was very polite. Hence comfy sleep.
Review 128:For the price I found it very good and the breakfast was excellent with chargrilled bacon and sausage, lovely.
Review 129:We booked an early evening meal for 5 people . The dinning room was absent of any atmosphere & uninviting. Very basic table setting, just cutlery & napkins. (Alittle thought could quite easily changed this , wine glasses, table decoraton etc. The food lacked imagination and was plated like a school dinner. Great disappointment as l hadn't seen my nephew in many years and wanted this to be special. The bedroom furniture in general seem abit tired and there was no hair dryer in the room.
Review 130:Very friendly staff. A warm welcome greeted us on arrival. Lovely location. Nice lounge area by the bar.
Review 131:Rooms at the back have nothing like as good a view as those at the front.
Review 132:Lovely situation in the middle of Great Malvern. excellent starting point for walking over the hills and only a stones throw from the Priory, Theatre etc
Review 133:Lots of stairs which could affect some people
Review 134:great staff giving a wonderful atmosphere , close to Morgan factory for visiting . great location all round
Review 135:The hotel is in urgent need of refurbishment. The bathroom is a disgrace. The furniture looks as if it came from a second hand shop. The duvet cover 6 ins. shorter than the duvet. The view from the window looked over the rear of the hotel, it looked like a rubbish dump, buildings falling down, old timber strewn everywhere. The breakfast; awful. We payed for a two nights stay, but walked out after the first night and booked in to another hotel. It is a grand building, but sadly not looked after.
Review 136:The staff are well presented, friendly, and helpfull.
Review 137:Breakfast items not available / replenished before being drawn to the attention of staff. Breakfast quality variable and not necessarily just as ordered. Wifi is pitiful.
Review 138:Hotel location, outlook of room five, furnishings in keeping with period of the building, TV reception. Willingness of staff to provide items which should have been there in the first place.
Review 139:Comfortable night, decent breakfast and well looked after. I left my electric toothbrush in the room and they very kindly posted it to me at no extra expense (although I will refund the cost the next time I stay).
Review 140:Room had damp and mould in bathroom Near fire escape that opened onto building site. Building work should be mentioned as it does make the property look messy Staff were lapse at breakfast -we had to ask for tea and toast Payment was demanded on arrival without any orientation about the hotel, a little rude!
Review 141:Location of hotel is good for town and hill walks
