Reviews for Holdfast Cottage Hotel

Review 1:Unfortunately the shower power was very weak. Our sons shower in his bedroom was the same. It's such a pity as everything else was delightful. Can nothing be done about this as it lets down an otherwise lovely hotel !

Review 2:The owners were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were delicious.

Review 3:Nothing - all was good :-)

Review 4:The location is excellent, a few miles from Malvern but within easy walking distance of the hills. The hotel is unpretentious; the rooms are characterful and the owners & staff are friendly and obliging. We did not eat in the hotel in the evening so cannot comment on the dinner menu/food; however the breakfasts were very good. There is a good variety of local pubs nearby. In all it is a very relaxing, convenient and friendly place to stay (this was our 2nd visit).

Review 5:From the moment I turned off the road into the tree lined drive, I felt that there was something quite enchanting about Holdfast Cottage. I wasn't disappointed: the owners and staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful, the room comfortable, the food delicious, the location quiet. If you want sleek and modern, it's not for you, but I loved it, and would gladly return.

Review 6:Julie and Steven made us very welcome and were most helpful and considerate - without being at all intrusive - during our three-night stay. There was quiet, comfort, good food-just what we were seeking - and the location is lovely!

Review 7:So peacefull but handy to places we wished to visit. Steve and Julie the owners made you feel so welcome. Breakfasts excellent. Perfect view of the Malvern's from room.

Review 8:Having to leave

Review 9:Quiet location, warm welcome from hosts, first class food and accomodation. Well worth a return visit, highly recommended. Good parking and WiFi.

Review 10:Unfortunately we had a very negative experience from the moment we arrived. We're stunned by the reviews that say how lovely the staff were, we've never felt so unwelcome at a hotel/bed and breakfast. Staff on reception when we arrived looked up and just walked away! Also dust and cobwebs in the room and a very poor shower. Didn't even want to stay for breakfast, we found our own in Malvern (can highly recommend Mac and Jacs)

Review 11:We're struggling to find a positive.

Review 12:Nothing

Review 13:Very welcoming and friendly staff. Beautiful old hotel. We really relaxed and were catered for perfectly. Highly recommend and will return next year.

Review 14:Dropped something behind bed and noticed quite a bit of dust behind there. Pillows could be softer but otherwise great for an overnight stay.

Review 15:Friendliness of owners and staff, lovely setting

Review 16:The reception and service on our admittedly late arrival was great, and then a pleasant chat with the" hostess with the mostess" over a beer and wine while waiting for dinner also helped make it a memorable stay, unfortunately it was just the one night as we were travelling on to Wales the next day.

Review 17:The food was very poor and over priced. Overcooked carrots and undercooked onions. Bacon at breakfast was cold. Smell of cooking permeated the establishment. Difficult to believe the reviews.

Review 18:The bed was comfortable

Review 19:There was Nothing we didnt like. We found the Hotel as we roughly knew the area, and the Hotel sign is visible from the road. But would advice future customers regarding "sat nav" as the post code sends you to the neighbouring property either side.

Review 20:The Host, Welcoming, warm and friendly, whilst giving first class service throughout. The Meals, again first class, homemade and beautifull and consistant in standards and presentation, compliment to the chef. The Cottage/Hotel had characteristic features in line with the period of the property which added to the comfort and ambiance,." A Little Beauty in a Secret Garden". We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and most defenetly will be back. cant praise The Host and Staff enough. First Class, Many Thanks

Review 21:There wasnt anything I didn't like about hold fast cottage.

Review 22:Holdfast cottage was set in a beautiful place with the malvern in the background. The cottage its self was beautiful with some original features still kept.

Review 23:Our room was comfortable, well furnished and very spacious with two little armchairs to relax and enjoy views of the surrounding countryside. The food was excellent - mainly local produce. he hotel has cosy little bar, comfortable conservatory and a spacious restaurant area. The owners are really friendly and accommodating. I would recommend The Holdfast to anyone.

Review 24:Very attentive hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. We hope to stay again and will recommend it to friends and family. The food is of an extremely high quality.

Review 25:The only negative thing that the boiler was close to my room (the hangsman room) and it was incredibly noisy. The first night someone took a shower at 6 am, the boiler woke me and it was impossible fo fall sleep again because even with earplugs I would still hear it.

Review 26:Nice hotel, really clean in a nice place and with friendly staff.

Review 27:Lovely garden, brilliant breakfast and felt like home from home, we were made to feel very welcome by the owners who couldn't do enough for us. Great wine list ! Lovely quiet location all you could hear each morning was birdsong and sheep! Still close enough to shops, restaurants and bars in Malvern and close to Upton on Severn which is a quaint old place and worth spending a few hours sat by the river on a sunny day. This is fantastic walking country if that is your thing.

Review 28:Its positive feedback. As a disabled person my husbands needs extend beyond the norm. He needed a higher chair to relax in whilst spending time in our room. Maybe we should have asked for one since I am sure it would have been provided by Julie or Stephen who had otherwise been most accomodating.

Review 29:Friendly welcoming proprieters. Cosy atmosphere and excellent breakfasts.

Review 30:Stayed 4 nights and loved it! Run by a very friendly and considerate couple who really did care that my stay was comfortable. The hotel is in a very quiet location which I found perfect for a good nights sleep. The restaurant food was lovely on all 4 nights, especially the Hereford beef which must be the most tender beef I have ever eaten. One special mention for the 60's background music played in the bar/restaurant which I really enjoyed.

Review 31:Strength of water in shower weak.

Review 32:Welcoming, personal attention of staff. Good food, plenty of choice for breakfast and evening meal if required. Nice decor in the rooms, homely and rusitic as you would expect in a country cottage.

Review 33:#Cottagey feel, quaint comfortable rooms with all the facilities provided. Really enjoyable evening meal well presented. Very good breakfast. Lovely grounds and ample parking.

Review 34:Was here before and you cannot beat the feeling of returning to a place and being welcomed back. Always friendly and ready to help. Highly recommended.

Review 35:Noisy plumbing/central heating Poor water pressure-I could not get more than a trickle out of the shower, though the temperature was was fine after a bit of twiddling

Review 36:Airy breakfast room overlooking garden Excellent breakfast with a choice of fresh fruit served on pretty china Well located for Malvern and Ledbury

Review 37:Basic cleaning. it was clear that the room hadn't been cleaned properly for some time, The bed didn't get made at all during our stay. the advertised wifi didn't work during our stay, and the subject was dismissed when raised.

Review 38:Location, was very nice and the building itself is sound, with lovely views.

Review 39:Disturbed sleep on our second night as we had a mouse in our room.

Review 40:The breakfast was good, made to order, freshly cooked and hot. The evening meal was very good. The location was lovely.

Review 41:No wifi in bedroom, but ok in conservatory. Minor repairs not fixed but not really a problem.

Review 42:Hosts, welcoming and generally helpful. Quiet room at the end of a corridor. Food very well prepared. Intimate dining room, great if you like interaction with other guests (we did).

Review 43:Perfect views of the Malvern Hills; convenience to the above plus Ledbury and Worcester. The grounds are a perfect retreat for relaxation. The owners and staff very willing to help in anyway.

Review 44:Poor shower performance and Luke warm water when the hotel had more guests. Poor wifi access.

Review 45:The location. The warm welcome. The food The general feeling of the hotel.

Review 46:Really a positive. I had to point out they had undercharged me.

Review 47:Friendliness and excellent food. Short journey from the M5 but you feel in the heart of the country. Very good value for money

Review 48:It was all good

Review 49:Location ,friendly, nice warm will come, other guests very nice, the young girl serving breakfast was very homely and polite, give her a pay rise, happydays

Review 50:I liked all of it really with the exception of the price which I thought was a little excessive for the overall quality of the hotel. That having been said it was in a highly desirable place in the Malverns and I expect prices there are high anyway

Review 51:Very pleasant and helpful owners. My husband is quite disabled and although the hotel is not at all geared for disabled visitors, they did their best to provide help where they could. Breakfast was exceptionally good with wonderful nicely cooked bacon and good decent coffee and proper toast.

Review 52:No restaurant or dining facilities that evening. If we had known this we probably would not have booked. After a long drive we had to go an find something.

Review 53:Staff and their willingness to help

Review 54:Poor noise isolation from adjacent room. Poor Wi-Fi reception. Narrow stairwell to second floor.

Review 55:Very good breakfast. Plenty of parking space. Quiet external surroundings.

Review 56:There was not much we could dislike.

Review 57:hosts and staff, cleanliness and decoration of room, choice at breakfast, all well cooked and piping hot, all in all a very nice hotel.

Review 58:Water pressure in the shower was very low. It was a good thing I didn't have to wash my hair that day otherwise I would still have shampoo in it!! There seems to be something about England & poor plumbing / water pressure. The country is so far ahead in so many things but most of England seem to be so far behind in anything to do with good bathroom plumbing (inn other words, Holdfast Cottage was not the only place where the water pressure was poor).

Review 59:The staff were excellent, friendly & welcoming. They were even willing to get up & make me a cooked breakfast even though I needed it 2 hours before they usually served breakfast to their guests.

Review 60:The owners and staff will do absolutely everything to make your stay just perfect, the rooms are beautiful , the food is always a high standard very well presented whether an evening meal or the superb breakfasts ,first class ingredients and professionally cooked . The house and gardens Are pretty and relaxing sitting in the most fantastic location. I Cannot praise Holdfast Cottage enough , but once you meet the owners you will understand why.

Review 62:Clean room Crisp well laundered bed linen Lovely owners clean bright carpets In good decorative order Fresh smelling Good menu and well prepared food Delightful garden Quiet location

Review 64:Lovely setting.Friendly proprietor.Nice grounds surrounded by nature.Pretty room with lovely garden view.Nice breakfast.

Review 65:Homely feel, perfect for some piece and quiet. For me this was especially useful seeing as I was revising for exams, which were being held over my stay at Abbey Collage. I would recommend this hotel to anyone else with similar circumstances as mine. Breakfast was very good and filling, and the dinner option was very generous.

Review 66:I would have liked more local produce for breakfast, ie. local eggs, bacon and jams. Some speciality bread and some cheeses.

Review 67:The atmosphere. The garden. The guest room. Plenty of parking spaces. The owners' helpfullness.
