Reviews for Inn on the Square
Review 1:The hotel was really nice and well furnished and decorated, the food was also really good and the staff were polite and help full. A really nice hotel which also excepted dogs we would highly recommend The Inn On The Square.
Review 2:We arrived and checked in but when we went to our room it hadn't been cleaned. We then went back later to find the room was far to small for beening a double. I hit my head on the beam twice and cut my shin on the bed getting around the bed. 303 room should be a single room, not safe for two people staying in that room. Complain in morning, but nothing was done.
Review 3:Nothing
Review 4:There was a smell of sewerage from the drains in the bathroom, but could have been due to the recent floods in the area.
Review 5:Superb location and very pleasant staff
Review 6:They ate in the restaurant and said they had to wait 45 minutes for food, but were given a complimentary drink and said when the food did arrive that it was lovely.
Review 7:Booked this hotel for 1 night as a gift for my parents, they said the location and room was great, especially the bathroom.
Review 8:Breakfast Considering the full english was to order and not a buffet, the quality of the food served was very poor Think it had been cooked for some considerable time before being plated and served This was very disappointing as we had dined in the Brossen steak house the previous evening and were very impressed with the food and service
Review 9:Apart from breakfast everything was excellent
Review 10:Dinner food only average. Breakfast poor, charged extra for having eggs Benedict and not a full breakfast. However this was topped by the lady next to us who asked for poached eggs on toast instead of a full breakfast. She only got one poached egg on two slices of toast! As you can imagine she was not very happy/impressed. The wine list wording is demeaning and insulting, something along the lines of - good wines, better wines or excellent wines. Complained to the waiter, not interested in customer feedback! Why categories your wines in this way, keep it simply red/white/rose etc and let people choose what suits them both from a taste and cost perspective, not on a demeaning 'wine class system'.
Review 11:Great location, rooms newly decorated.
Review 12:The hotel was pretty new granted but it was such a change for everything to be in working order. Unlike the majority of places to stay in Keswick. Far exceeded my hopes, lovely place, great staff. Would not hesitate to book again though I reckon it is going to be a busy place so book early.
Review 13:I loved being in the centre of Keswick. We were there on Halloween and in the evening staff and guests had dressed in fancy dress....Very entertaining. The breakfast was excellent. The shower was fantastic and I just loved the sheep blanket!!
Review 14:Didn't want to leave
Review 15:Very comfy bed, dog beds and drinking bowls in room, great shower, breakfast was great, we were able to sit with out dogs in the lounge
Review 16:Minor gripe, but a towel hook and so where to hang the dressing gowns whilst in the shower would be good.
Review 17:Lovely room, lovely lounge bar and dining room. Lovely breakfast. Great service. We had a really relaxing stay and will definitely return.
Review 18:There are still some teething problems which need resolving such as the plumbing, but the manager was helpful and responsive. The difference in the price for a single bedroom which was very small is minimal and in our view should be much less than it is. Had we known how small the room was going to be we would have booked another double instead.
Review 19:The decor and general appearance of the hotel is attractive. It looks as if thought and creativity have contributed to the design of this very old building. The restaurant was really excellent as were the cocktails. Every member of staff was very pleasant and helpful.
Review 20:Very expensive for the size of rooms also rooms very hot.have been in better premier inns for more than a third of the price.
Review 21:Excellent location staff very friendly & breakfast very good.
Review 22:Restaurant service below standard, a lot of waiting tables around us, grumpy staff. food was fair but lacked impact and portion size.
Review 23:Good bedrooms, modern interior. Great location.
Review 24:nothing
Review 25:Lovely large rooms Great showers and bathrooms Good beds Very clean Public rooms were very nice Food was wonderful most appeared to have been made in the in house kitchen fresh bread jam, even the biscuits you got with your coffee . However no matter how good a hotel is with out good staff its no good this hotel has GREAT STAFF from reception, bar staff dining room the girls who cleaned this is what makes this hotel on of the best we have stayed in.Plus they have a good parking system and some were to wash your muddy walking boots.
Review 26:One night just isn' t long enough!
Review 27:Excellent town centre location. Large comfortable beds, spacious power shower dual function heads modern quality furniture & fittings. Can't fault the restaurant or Staff efficiency. Parking for£2 @ in nearby long stay car park 5 mins walk away All top notch. Credit to the management & staff deserved here. This place made our short stay special Thank you
Review 28:Expensive rooms and average breakfast. No buffet and extra charge for some hot dishes. I had reserved parking for 2 cars which they denied receiving despite email confirmation. They did give us free parking in a nearby car park.
Review 29:Central location was good and rooms were modern and interesting. Beds were comfortable. Lots of pubs and restaurants within walking distance.
Review 30:I was there for ten days (eleven nights), and I particularly appreciated the unfailing friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. My single room was so well designed that it felt much larger than it was, the restaurant was comfortable, with excellent food, and the hotel's location -- in the center of town -- could not be bettered.
Review 31:Great location, but being on the main pub crawl street makes it very noisey because windows had to be open all night due to no air conditioning
Review 32:Modern, smart hotel in central location.
Review 33:The sound insulation between the rooms is very poor. We could actually hear what was being said in the next room, even though the guests were talking at a reasonable level. The rooms are very well appointed but not massive, and considering these two points they are massively over-priced. The bar is noisy and not relaxing.
Review 34:The staff were very helpful in a tricky situation which we had in terms of unloading our van overnight.
Review 35:We have stayed at the Queens before and were absolutly astounded with the and refurbishment of the old Queens got a lot of Ideas from the decor great many thankd
Review 36:Upon arrival,we were greeted by a very unpleasant receptionist who gave us no information about the hotel. We then went to our room and it was no different than a premier inn. the room was tiny, and I had my 8 week old daughter with me and there was no room for a crib.it was the smallest room I have ever seen. We then complained to the receptionist who had no people skills at all and we didn't end up stopping. Utterly disappointed and over rated, would never recommend this hotel.
Review 37:I was disappointed that both mornings they had run out of yogurt by the time I came down for breakfast at 8:30am half-way through the breakfast tme. Bad planning
Review 38:Location is good. Bed was very comfortable
Review 39:If you want sheltered parking make sure you book it in asap, which is £8. We had to use the local carpark about a 5/10 minute walk away, it was only £2 though so I definitely can't complain.
Review 40:The food was beautiful & room very clean, great views from our room (114). You can even bring your dog! How lovely.
Review 41:Service at breakfast was poor on both mornings. Morning 1 breakfast order taken then they forgot to deliver it. Morning 2 Coffee served for one but tea and toast didn't materialise for 15 mins and had to ask twice.
Review 42:Location, hotel was excellent, beautiful decor
Review 43:Information for additional needs identified on the booking form had not been acted upon but as soon as this was identified the staff acted quickly to rectify the issue. Many thanks to the desk staff
Review 44:Fresh, clean, tasteful hotel. Central for all our needs. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Lovely room. Will certainly use the hotel again for our next stay in Keswick.
Review 45:There was a used ear plug left in the bedside drawer from the previous guest. The breakfast was OK but due to the open plan kitchen you could see that the Hygiene standards were not too good.
Review 46:I liked the location and that they had there own car park but I had to pay to use it.
Review 47:No bad experience but need to make sure you have good range of beer to compete with local excellent pubs. Nothing better than last orders in your hotel bar with a great pint.
Review 48:Lovely modern hotel in a great location. Made it worth our while travelling a long way for a short stay.
Review 49:Breakfast was poor. Staff were very rude and ignorant. The guy in reception was fantastic. Dealt with everything professionally.
Review 50:Room was amazing. Loved the shower
Review 51:Was a bit warm ,no air con which disturbed sleep as it was warm outside.
Review 52:Everything,was stylish, new, great location, staff were brilliant, returant foid was great.
Review 53:The room was very stuffy and the shower's temperature would fluctuate every few minutes.
Review 54:The staff were very accommodating, when I mentioned that the room was very hot, they brought a fan up to the room, which helped greatly.
Review 55:Booking.com charged us one price and once there at the check out they tried to charge us more than double for the room. Check your receipt before you pay. They also don't have parking but they'll give you a permit disc for a specific public car park. We were told by the staff that the permit it's good for the whole town but we got a £50 parking ticket overnight for parking next to the hotel parking lot with invalid disc permit.
Review 56:The hotel is new refurbished, very modern,in an old façade and the personal was very friendly. Great value for the money you pay by booking here.
Review 57:The rooms facing the town square are noisy...dont expect to get any sleep until after the clubs turn out at 3AM....and then be prepared for the market traders to noisely start setting their stalls at 6AM.
Review 58:Despite our hotel room costing over £200 per night we were unable to find a seat in the hotel bar/lounge area after dinner as the whole area is open to the public. This was very rowdy especially on Saturday evening - the hotel is clearly aimed at the younger market
Review 59:Comfortable room and bed and excellent bathroom although toilet and shower door both leaked
Review 60:When I booked this hotel I hadn't realised that it had been extensively refurbished,so it came as quite shock when I arrived and found that it was no longer the Queens hotel, but the Inn on the square. What a transformation, new decor, fixtures and fittings and massive wall mounted TV and great shower room.fantastic.
Review 61:Having completed three-quarters of the journey to the hotel we were informed, 2 1/2 hours before booking in that the room which had been booked was no longer available. Extremely disappointing and we will certainly not be booking a room there in the future.
Review 62:Nothing.

Review 91:I did not have a bad experience but thought the room was over priced.
Review 92:Staff were helpful and excellent .
Review 93:The music in the restaurant. It like a cat being swung round by its tail.
Review 94:Clean and smart . Good location.
Review 95:No parking at the hotel although there was adequate facilities nearby
Review 96:Central location, clean hotel
Review 97:Just a small niggle - the room was quite warm a fan would be usefull
