Reviews for Selwood Lodge

Review 1:The shower could do with updating. we explained that we had an early start and were told come down for breakfast at 7. When we came down the breakfast was not ready!! Disappointed.:(

Review 2:good location

Review 3:The double bed was too soft and we were rolling into the middle all night. We didn't sleep well. I did book a twin room . There was another single bed in the room so we should have used that.

Review 4:The breakfast was very good. Well cooked and served

Review 5:We dislike shared oblution facilities and only booked Selwood in desperation however the caring landlady had thought of everything down to fluffy white bathrobes so we could not have been happier with the room and the sharing was not an issue even though the house was full that night.

Review 6:Everything was fab. Fried breakfast was lovely but could have done with beans or tinned tomatoes but that is just a personal choice. Staff were lovely and welcoming. Only a 5 min walk from the town. Would definately stay again.

Review 7:We booked 4 rooms for our whole family (including 2 young grand-daughters) - a Double, Twin, Single and Family Room. They were all spotless and very comfortable. The breakfast was amazing and the hosts were welcoming and very friendly. It was just right for us and good value for money. We really enjoyed our stay there.

Review 8:Lovely people lovely place just down the road from the town . It took 5 to 10 mins to walk there that's all . Lovely place I would go back tomorrow if I could

Review 9:Bar area, games room and garden were shabby. Garden furniture rusty and the garden needed attention. Bar and breakfast area dated and gloomy. Needs up dating.

Review 10:Hosts were lovely

Review 11:The breakfast was very nice and the lounge area very pleasant for a quiet drink and chat with other travellers. The location was within easy walking distance to the sea and shops.

Review 12:Very thin walls between rooms mean't it was impossible not hear what other guests were saying or watching on TV.Restuarant has a musty smell.

Review 13:Nice friendly welcome and not too far to walk to the sea or the town centre. Clean room and reasonable bed.Tea/coffee making in room.

Review 14:The only improvement would be a blackout blind for the small window in our room to avoid being woken by sunrise.

Review 15:The proprietors Doreen and Albert were friendly and helpful. The bedroom and bathroom were clean and comfortable. Great choice available at breakfast time. Easy walk to the beach.

Review 16:If you are a light sleeper inwould suggest you request a back room, we had a front facing room which was a bit noisy - traffic and people on a Saturday night.

Review 17:Our room was compact but comfortable, with a nice bathroom and good shower. The breakfast was cooked to order and very good.

Review 18:Nothing

Review 19:Perfect single room. Comfortable bed and a very good sleep. Great quorn vegetarian breakfast. Friendly and helpful owners - loved Albert and his wife. very quiet. super clean bathroom. Hairdryer, tea, coffee, tv, towels.... Great stay.

Review 20:The overall situation suited my requirements, and the open house was what I enjoyed, If I was to return to the area I would hope there was a vacancy here.

Review 21:Must have been the most uncomfortable bed I have tried to sleep on for a very long time. Being 6.2 tall not enough room to lie flat and mattress was terrible

Review 22:Best Breakfast I have had for a long time excluding the sausage

Review 23:The clowns in the breakfast room, they creeped me out. The smallness of the rooms and the bathroom.

Review 24:Owners very friendly. Close to town centre. Free wifi.

Review 25:The shower didn't work properly, the water was either scolding hot or stone cold, nowhere in between. The label warning about the dodgy toilet was a bit disconcerting but it worked fine while I was there. The clown decor in the dining room was a bit freaky.

Review 26:The cooked breakfast was exceptional, the best tomato I've ever tasted.

Review 27:That we only stayed two nights and the weather was pretty poor, but can't blame our hosts for either of those things!

Review 28:This family run B&B have marvellous welcoming and attentive hosts. The room and communal facilities were warm, comfortable and clean. There is also a very nice snug with licensed bar and an attractive garden for use by guests. The breakfast provided was really delicious and there was a reasonable choice on offer. If that all wasn't enough its location on a quiet side street that is only a five minute walk from the town centre and fifteen minutes to the sea.

Review 29:No concerns. Everything was fine. We would definitely stay again!

Review 30:Our hosts made us feel at home over the holidays and gave us Christmas crackers and boxes of chocolates at breakfast with a greeting card. Later in the day, they offered us mulled wine and mince pies.

Review 31:Whilst I was here I had a great stay staff where fantastic breakfast was great. I was greated in a kind friendly way I felt at home with my two children. I couldn't ask for a better short break I give a big thanks to doreen and her husband.

Review 32:I can't think of anything.

Review 33:Run by very pleasant, friendly and helpful couple. Nice guest lounge. Lovely large en-suite to single room. Very nice cooked breakfast.

Review 34:The person in next room to me was very noisy from 6am.

Review 35:Very warm welcome, room was nice and I slept very well. Breakfast was good too. Enjoyed my stay and would stay again x

Review 36:Double bed matress too soft. Pity that the internet was down for the whole of our stay.

Review 37:Good value for money. Excellent location and very friendly and attentive owners.

Review 38:I was a little disappointed that there was no on site - off road- parking. However, this really is a minor gripe.

Review 39:the owners were both friendly and helpful. The hotel was exceptionally clean and the quality of the breakfast excellent. I have to be honest I had misgivings about staying in a small B&B as quality really can be hit and miss - irrespective of reviews. However Selwood did not disappoint and you should have no such misgivings. Should we travel to Bognor again I would be happy to stay here.

Review 40:No entry here does not mean it has been overlooked!

Review 41:Homely and comfortable, excellent breakfast. Certainly stay again should the need arise in this part of the world. No entry here

Review 42:I had to park my car in the street outside.

Review 43:It was only a few minutes walk to both the town centre & seafront but situated in a fairly quiet residential area. Run by friendly and helpful staff.

Review 44:The toilet wouldn't flush. We told the owner after breakfast and she told us we should have woken her up after midnight she it happened because the water was running all night. She told us what to do if it didn't flush again and we had to take the lid off after every flush. It was not repaired

Review 45:Cleanliness Location

Review 46:We had an early flight so requested an early breakfast . The lady owner was very accommodating and the breakfast was lovely . The room was clean and well furnish .

Review 47:Very uncomfortable beds either too soft or too hard. Both never stopped squeeking , head boards loose. Bathroom very narrow possibly a former cupboard. No light in bathroom just shaver light. Lounge and bar dark and musty pool room bird in cage seed all over floor and seat. Photos on web site very misleading if you don't like clowns don't go here the dining room is full of them. This is also a rough area . There is also a query over prices I was quoted one price on booking.com there was another price at reception and yet another in the bedroom information pack needless to say we were charged the most expensive £75 a night as quoted on this site . The ones at the b&b were £60 to £70.

Review 48:Absolutely nothing.

Review 49:Was not sure what to expect when entering the premises but this was soon forgotten when we were greeted and made to feel at home by the owners. Shower hose leaked but managed to use the shower regardless of this.

Review 50:Very quiet location and easy for parking. Very clean room and comfortable bed meant we had an excellent night's sleep. Dining facilities are good and we enjoyed an excellent breakfast, even catering for my wife who is coeliac (requiring a gluten free diet). Very good value for an overnight stop. We would certainly recommend Selwood Lodge to others.

Review 51:The bed wasn't very comfortable. This has to be the most important thing of all in any hotel or guest house. The mattress was a bit hard and, even after trying all combinations of the pillows, I didn't real get a good night's sleep and wole up with a stiff neck.

Review 52:The room was good. The shower was excellent, apart from the fact that I couldn't open the shower gel sachet provided. Fortunately I had soap of my own but it is a bit late to discover this problem when you are already wet all over! The breakfast was really nice although it was a bit slow to come.

Review 53:My stay at Selwood lodge was really great. What made the difference was the the, location, the place's warm hospitality and how everything was run impeccably. Everything was where it needed to be and help was always given when one needed it. Would recommend to anyone spending some time in Bognor.

Review 54:Doreen was very welcoming, friendly and explained the venues we needed as we were in Bognor Regis for a Christening. Selwood Lodge provided a every thing we required for our stay: a comfortable bed and a great breakfast!

Review 55:Not overly welcoming, we didnt even know their names and they didnt ask ours. Breakfast took nearly an hour to come but was lovely when it did arrive. Waited in the bar for a drink for about half hour while she was on the phone and dont think he was doing anything?

Review 56:Clean, comfy. Good breakfast.

Review 57:Some intrusive road noise, particularly increased as seemingly road being used as a temporary diversion in short term. A lack of new paint and upgraded entrance/signage externally detracts from the good facilities inside.Initially most off putting on arrival.

Review 58:Made very welcome and comfortable. Good location for our visit purpose within Bognor Regis Enjoyable breakfast

Review 59:Tastefully fitted rooms, very clean and cosy. Very friendly owners. Parking right in front of the house. Lovely breakfast. Nice little bar for the lodgers.

Review 60:Shower wasnt the best. Bed wasnt the comfiest. Would not put me off though.

Review 61:Very friendly, laid back staff. Happy to help. Breakfast was lovely. Other guests seemed very happy there as well. Will definitely go back again.

Review 62:There was no hot water from the shower in the morning. The owners said this was because too many houses had been built in the vicinity!! Breakfast was only available between 8:30 and 9:30 which meant everyone needed serving in a short space of time; service was very slow, erratic and somewhat brusque. The full English came with a hard poached egg. Room was basic for the price.

Review 63:The location was convenient. Friendly reception. The bacon!

Review 64:very hot weather,no fan in room. we had a room at front.very noisy road.

Review 65:the owner was nice and friendly.the bedding was nice quality. the breakfast was very nice.

Review 66:We Stayed at Selwood Lodge for one night visiting relatives who were just round the corner, the location is a short walk to the shops & sea front. Although there was only two of us we had a family room which was big enough to sleep five, we found everything we needed & would recommend it to anyone.

Review 67:The bar area and games room were very quiet and needed updating but we wasn't there for that anyway.

Review 68:Stayed here for two nights in a double room with shower room.. The couple who own it have been here 38 years and were lovely. Not too over chatty but just right for information and a pleasant chat in passing. The room was quite small but had everything we needed and was so nice and clean. Situated 10 minute walk from the beach it was a good location yet nice and quiet. Lovely shower and good breakfast. Thank you Doreen. Xx would stay again in the matching colour co- ordinated clean room u provided us on our short break..

Review 69:being greeted by the lady owner who was very disgruntled because we hadn't arrived at 5pm we were told we could get into the room after 230 didn't feel welcome had to pay for the room before wed even seen it, slow service for breakfast in the morning because only the husband was there and there was only us and two other ladys in the room for breakfast.

Review 98:The bed, hurt my legs on the wooden frame getting in and out of bed, would prefer a mattress and base.
