Reviews for Datchet Mead Hotel

Review 1:nothing

Review 2:they were great, had everything we needed and so close to Heathrow - only took 10 minutes to get there - the rooms were large, clean and the showers great (something you don't find very often in the UK) - they had a lounge bar which also serviced meals if needed and the breakfast that was included was fantastic

Review 3:It was a tad bit cold in the room and the air-con didn't work. If i'd needed to stay in this room more than I did, I would have raised it with the staff, but since I didn't need to, I didn't mind this cold too much.

Review 4:i'm not a fussy traveller - the staff was nice, the room was big and I could do my stretching exercises, and it had all the things I needed. I didn't eat the provided breakfast not dinner so cant comment on the food there.

Review 5:no where comfortable to sit once you have got a drink from the bar just tables and chairs not really easy to relax

Review 6:ideal for Heathrow and close to places to eat.

Review 7:After a long day at the nearby sailing club with very little food my husband arrived about 8pm and although the restaurant is closed at weekend they do bar snacks. He has leukaemia and needs to eat regularly and the lovely helpful staff made him a lovely ham and cheese omelette with fries and salad. His room was very good and although there was a wedding party and a load of rugby fans he didn't hear any noise in the night. They also made his breakfast at 8am instead of the usual 8-30. Can't praise them highly enough. Wifi was also very good.

Review 8:Very friendly staff and excellent breakfast. We had our week old baby with us and they set up a table for us in the lounge area so we could eat our breakfast with the baby in his Moses basket beside us.

Review 9:We cannot believe the booking.com rating for this hotel. We also cannot believe we stayed in the same hotel as the reviewers. It was creepy, dilapidated, outdated, and frankly one of the worst places we've stayed in. The hotel website reads like it's a fantastic hotel, I honestly think they believe their own hype. The room was clean but that's where it ends. We thought the hotel had closed down when we arrived. The bed cover was from the 80s, so was the furniture. The plastic had yellowed with age, especially the clock radio and kettle and there was a stone mantelpiece in the corner of the room with no possibility of a chimney. Why? Don't stay here unless desperate to waste £90

Review 10:Location which is why we booked the hotel in first place

Review 11:The hotel provided everything we required and was spotless. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice and the staff were lovely. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Review 12:Location a little isolated as we were travelling by public transport - easy in a car though and handy for legoland.

Review 13:Pleasant staff very accommodating, nice clean facilities, good food.

Review 14:A difficult place to get to on a dark rainy night in a rental car driving (for us) on the wrong side of the road. But of course not the hotel's fault.

Review 15:We arrived very late from Heathrow and the person on duty very kindly made us some great sandwiches.

Review 16:En suite quite small with sloping ceiling over toilet pan making it easy to bang your head.

Review 17:Easily accesible from M4. Good Parking area. Ideal overnight stop.

Review 18:Felt uncomfortable in the bar like they wanted you to leave. No cereals with English Breakfast. Was given a single room although booked a double room for single occupancy.

Review 19:Pleasant hotel.

Review 20:The decor in the bedrooms was a little faded but they had been modernised.

Review 21:The staff are very welcoming and informative re the local area and they offer to let you park your car there when you fly from Heathrow as long as you stay at least one night with them.

Review 22:Perfect place to stay if you are visiting Eton or Windsor. All the staff were really friendly and Julie who served breakfast was a great host! WE had flown from Manchester and it was only 10mins from Heathrow so ideal. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Review 23:I particularly liked the walk from the hotel acoss the river, through the playing fields of Eton College and up Eton high street, which allowed me to reach Windsor in about 30 minutes.

Review 24:Thin walls, so a bit noisy at times.

Review 25:For the price and last minute availability I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Friendly staff and great breakfast. The bedrooms are quite dated and the shower room was small, but overall can't complain.

Review 26:The door to the bathroom didn't close from the inside, I had great difficulty closing it even halfway. There could have been more milk containers and perhaps a biscuit to go with the tea, which I've had at other establishments with similar rate rooms.

Review 27:I was lucky enough to be given not only a room with my lucky number, but also a room with a view of Windsor Castle :) The bed was very comfortable, the room was just the right size and clean.

Review 28:It was somewhat difficult to get there using public transport from Heathrow - taxi or own car is much better.

Review 29:Nice location from the "sightseeing" point of view, WIndsor castle visible from the room, nice and quiet place.

Review 30:The staff were very friendly. I had an old friend come over for dinner and we had a great welcome from the staff and an informal atmosphere. I had a view of Windsor Castle from my bedroom window.

Review 31:Staff were not available when I needed them. I spent 20 mins ringing the bell and calling around to try and get my bill paid. They would not help me with my luggage

Review 32:Fairly comfortable and Wifi included. Good sized room. Good shower. Less issues with parking than at other hotels nearby.

Review 33:Nothing

Review 34:Personal service. The receptionist was very helpful and they let me stay longer on my day of departure so I could work in my room. It was perfect for me on a business trip. Will definitely come again

Review 35:Although the hotel is clean and tidy some areas look a little tired and could do with a re-vamp. For some reason an English Breakfast did not include a cereal starter; this was only available with the Continental option.

Review 36:Location ideal for a walk into Eton/Windsor where there are plenty of eateries. Quiet country location. 10 mins from M4. Staff very helpful. Tea/coffee making in room.

Review 37:There are no disabled ground floor rooms or lift or stair lift but the staff are more than willing to help get up the 15 or so stairs

Review 38:Close to every amenity and tourist attraction.Good full English breakfast and a good nights sleep. Would stay again

Review 39:Hotel needs a bit of TLC / Updating. If you're looking for swanky and posh this is not for you

Review 40:I was looking for a hotel for a one night stop over when working in the local area. A bit tricky to find from the motorway, you'll need a sat nav to get around the local area but there is parking on site a restaurant that serves reasonably good food, cooked fresh to order. The staff were pleasant and helpful The wifi work well and the rooms were warm and reasonably sound proofed and the shower was powerful and hot. If you're on a couple of night on business and not too worried about location getting out and about this will suit you fine

Review 41:It is close to the main road M4 but sound proofing was adequate.

Review 42:Very nice people and home cooked food. Very good quality breakfast again freshly prepared to order. Good value for the area. Free parking.

Review 43:Would have preferred some comfortable armchairs or sofas in the bar to relax found the chairs there hard and uncomfortable.

Review 44:staff were great. very friendly nothing too much trouble. Went our their way to get my favourite wine. Location was great for us visiting family and generally doing the tourist things. Breakfast was also tasty,

Review 45:Nothing. All very positive.

Review 46:The staff were very friendly and ensured that we had everything we needed. Even asking us if we needed any directions. Good security at the front door. The breakfast was of excellent quality.

Review 47:Funny smell in the room and we felt it was a dated and needed a good overall and the room could do with decorating Not good enough to take the wife

Review 48:The staff very friendly the breakfast was very nice location for our trip was good Perfect for a lads golfing trip

Review 49:Situated down quite a dark country road, meaning we had to be on our guard to find the entrance of the car park each time. Nothing in easy walking distance. The bar was closed on Saturday evening, the bell on the front desk did not summons anyone on that night (and it was a little costly with a limited choice),no food was available, not even crisps or nuts at the weekend, although we were only a short drive from a variety of facilities. My partner was a little daunted by the number of stairs, bearing in mind though that it is quite an old building, and there are no bedrooms on the ground floor, we were put on the next floor up however. We hardly saw any of the other guests so it was a little lacking in atmosphere.

Review 50:The staff were very helpful indeed, they bent over backwards to make us feel welcome, and accommodated our need to have an earlier breakfast, which was a very good quality one. The Hotel was suitably located for the sports event that we were going to over the weekend. The free Wi-Fi worked without hitch, and was a thoughtful extra. The TV worked perfectly, and the radio/alarm was a really useful item in the room. Parking was also adequate and free.

Review 51:good parking, close to eton and windsor its a 20 mins walk thru eton college over the bridge and your in windsor no car needed.room was larger than expected for one [big bonus]very welcoming sfaff and slept well ,clean all thru room.breakfast was delish, and served with big smile ...will return again..very stylish interior too.

Review 52:A bit dated but clean and tidy so no problem . Internet wasn't working when we were there but wasn't a problem for us as you get 4g.

Review 53:Easy access by car , A bit dated , but nice big clean tidy rooms . Tea / coffee facilities, tv , trouser press. Staff lovely . We were visiting eton / Windsor . Taxi was only £6 to eton bridge . It's the best free breakfast I've had . Ample of fresh good quality food.

Review 54:Good sized spacious rooms with an excellent breakfast in the morning. Free Wifi is also an appreciated bonus. Very friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you. Many thanks for delightful stay.

Review 55:No negatives .... we only stayed for one night...but I think if the trees behind the hotel were trimmed it would increase business 50% for this hotel as it would have an amazing view of Windsor Castle instead of just trees.... Still ok though....Trees are nice :)

Review 56:Very clean and nice lady greeted us at breakfast...also very nice breakfast and handy parking right on the front .....Seems a nice family run hotel and handy for parking...free internet worked with no problems at all.

Review 57:On arrival it looked deserted and neglected, it wasn't clear how to get in, large metal door with number key pad but no handle, not at all welcoming . Steep narrow stairs to carry up luggage , no assistance was offered. there was a wash basin in the room, I asked where is the bathroom and was told what looked like a wardrobe was the bathroom. Surfaces and floors had a slightly sticky feel.

Review 58:Free parking. The offer of free breakfast. An observation: I will be far less trusting of the scores (which imply comparability) given by users. Datchet Mead had 8.5 or 8.6 as has the Michelangelo a hotel I often use in Manhattan: they are from different planets

Review 59:Everything else. ...Can't believe all the good reviews. Pictures on website give a feeling of style and quality. So wrong! More like a 2 star in international quality.

Review 60:The bed was comfi and room was clean.

Review 61:Creeky floors in the room above mine disturbed one night of sleep for me but other than that I have nothing to complain about.

Review 62:Superfriendly and helpful staff and a great breakfast. The location was good for what I had set out to do and you can esily get to the train station and go to London or take a walk up to Windsor.

Review 63:Very clean. Staff were polite and friendly. I felt comfortable and safe as a lone traveller. I have stayed twice now and bith times were excellent. Due to stay again hopefully 19th Sept

Review 64:Nothing to dislike in my opinion and I would stay at the hotel again.

Review 65:The hotel was in a good location near to Windsor and to Heathrow Airport. The room was comfortable and spacious. The breakfast was excellent and there was a good choice. The staff were friendly and polite

Review 66:I wanted to spend a full day in legoland with my 2 young boys, the datchet accommodated my need, its fairly quiet for a relaxing stay, I asked for just a couple of items and they accommodated that too. Good taxi service to places at affordable prices. I can be a hard hitter moaner and don't like getting stiffed with issues. The Datchet I would recommend for a short stay for sure.

Review 67:only had a bar no lounge so no easy chairs to sit on. no hairdryer, as these were double rooms a bit small ok for single traveller but bed against wall would make it difficult for a couple no easy chair in room .breakfast would have liked more choice. creaky floorboards.wi-fi connection was very poor .not a four star more 3 star

Review 68:location was good. rooms clean. staff helpful.parking good . food nice and hot but only stayed bed and breakfast. Nice view Windsor castle.

Review 69:This is a hotel that does not appear to work as a pub / inn. Therefore, the food appears to be cooked purely for the limited number of guests, and so is adequate on this restrict basis. When I was asked if I wanted a salad or peas with my fish and chips I was not told the peas would be a side order, raising the price.

Review 70:Room was large.

Review 71:The owners and staff put themselves out to help in any way they could. For an early trip to the airport they provided a prepared breakfast to be eaten before we left. Well appreciated.

Review 72:The smell of Asian food throughout the place (not in the room though to be fair)

Review 73:The smell of asian food fills the place but other than that its not a bad place.

Review 74:Didn't seem to be anyone to speak too with any queries as staff were thin on the ground

Review 75:Location Secluded Near but not far away from other routes

Review 76:Our bedroom was a bit tired, on a noisy road. The curtains were not lined and the sun shone through and woke my little boy up at 5.30am.

Review 77:The owners are lovely people and very friendly and helpful, had an evening meal and breakfast and both were very good. The downstairs is modern and new.

Review 78:Very nice hotel. Reception found out that we were a group of three women and had reserved a double and a single. When he found out that we wanted to be near each other, he upgraded us to three singles at the end of a corridor, at no additional cost. View of Windsor Castle from our rooms was a bonus!! Location excellent for early departure from Heathrow Airport.

Review 79:Spotlessly clean. Good quality double glazing - no aircraft noise - and good air conditioning. very friendly family run hotel that has been modernised inside. Comfortable bed. Good bar and restaurant menus.

Review 80:There were sharp corners on the furniture in the family room and if you used the kettle the wire trailed within easy reach of the little one. I wasn't expecting to be on the second floor-I will check where the family rooms are located before taking the toddler on another adventure!

Review 81:Very welcoming staff, especially the member of staff serving breakfast.

Review 82:Initial impression in car park isn't great front door was hanging off its hinge and building works going on. Looked a bit dated in reception and hallways. Asked for poached egg on toast and egg was hard not runny. I didn't have time to ask to change it.

Review 83:Beds extremely comfortable, staff v friendly and helpful. Breakfast tasty and quick. very good value for money, gorgeous views out the back of the room. Very quiet too.

Review 84:The staff were very warm and friendly. Recommended.

Review 88:Good location and food.

Review 89:Really friendly staff and owners. Fantastic breakfasts

Review 90:Very small en suite Poor water flow to wash basin, and very slow emptying of wash basin

Review 91:Friendly staff. Near to where I was working

Review 92:Friendliness of owners. Excellent service.

Review 93:Always a bit creaky but an old Victorian building so....

Review 94:Good value Hotel for the area nice breakfast included

Review 95:The whole staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was small, but very clean. We enjoyed a good dinner at the restaurant.

Review 96:Good Value Good Location

Review 97:no resturant like advertised, not as if i would of eaten there. unable to supply invoice with v.a.t number on.

Review 98:Everything

Review 99:The breakfast lady and the central location to all tourist directions

Review 100:The staff were very helpful. This was my second trip with my son and I would definitely return again.

Review 101:Nil

Review 103:Efficient service and close to Heathrow. Airport Parking and meals available. Nice village.

Review 104:Came back to the hotel quite late and saw what looked like cockroches in the porchway.

Review 105:Nice big room which took a put u up bed. Breakfast very good.

Review 106:Rooms needs a little attention

Review 107:Friendly staff . Ideal location.
