Reviews for Skiddaw Hotel

Review 1:Nothing

Review 2:The room was lovely nice comfortable bed, lovely bathroom with bath and shower and lots of hot running water. Choice for breakfast was very good, full breakfast was presented well and in a red hot plate which kept your breakfast hot. Would Definetly visit again

Review 3:Decoration and comfort of room was of a high standard. Our room had been recently refurbished. There was everything you needed in the bathroom. We would go back again.

Review 4:No nuts or crisps in the hotel bar!? But this hasn't stopped me staying at this hotel several times!

Review 5:Classic traditional British hotel but well maintained and loved. Not aiming for the very top end but certainly a quality hotel being perfectly suitable for any discerning guest. Location is excellent and the staff are always great.

Review 6:Unfortunately, we were there on the weekend of the floods. Not the hotel's fault of course, but no running water on Sunday evening.

Review 7:It was our first stay in Keswick. We found to hotel to be comfortable and in a great location as regards to town centre.

Review 8:The service from all staff was just excellent. We got a lovely clean and very comfortable room with a great view of the mountains too. Very well located in the town center.

Review 9:The hotel was excellent the cleanliness was first class all the staff were very polite and helpful. The room was wonderful the location just right. All in all perfect hotel and location.

Review 10:Almost unbearably hot. No sleep on one night and needed windows wide open

Review 11:Comfortable beds, large t.v, nice products in bathroom. Also was able to park for small fee in nearby car park

Review 12:No, only your cumbria weather. It really spoilied the events on Friday 13th, for the switch on of your Christmas Lights and Pudsey Bear Children in need Event.

Review 13:An excellent hotel, the standard of our room was faultless. the set price evening meal in the restaurant was very good value and the staff were very attentative and efficient and polite.

Review 14:Arrived at noon and hotel staff sorted our parking pass so we could get away walking before our room would be rely at 3. Hotel was clean and quit. Bathroom was lovely and bed was beautifully comfortable. Hotel is situated perfectly in the middle of the most beautiful town. Asked for a view over the market square and was not disappointed... tho with the window open we were disturbed by outside noise which started early morning. Would highly recommend and will book again when it's not camping weather ?

Review 15:Seemed to be a little confusion about the specials menu but was resolved by senior member of staff. Room was fairly small but adequate

Review 16:Location and facilities. Staff very helpful and food was excellent

Review 17:I had paid for an upgrade, but on arrival was shown a very inferior room at the far end of the hotel. After complaining I was given a room with a decent bed but which was very cramped - about half the size of my own bedroom at home.!

Review 18:The staff were very efficient and the food was good

Review 19:Miserable staff especially breakfast. Breakfast was disappointing we like self service . No fresh fruit and jam and sauce in a large bowl with a spoon. I expect better.

Review 20:Great location we had a better room for the same price as standard what a difference. All rooms should be like this.

Review 21:Noise from bar/nightclub after 12.00. Disappointing view of tiled roof but that cant be helped. Dropped bags off but had to wait 2 and a half hours to get into room, but once again couldn't be helped.

Review 22:Lovely clean room and lovely bathroom. Very good breakfast and service.

Review 23:Central location. The room was small but fine. Bathroom really big. Small car park but if u go to reception you can get a pass for your car for 2 pound to use in the big car park at the back.

Review 24:Tiny gripes: the internet was a bit slow and I prefer a softer bed!

Review 25:The staff were so helpful, there was no demarcation of jobs as far as we could see. If you were waiting for something, anyone was prepared to help you whether it was their 'job' or not. It was really friendly.

Review 26:There wasn't enough breakfast and the conservatory it was served in got really hot in the mornings and I didn't really think that was ideal for dogs. In general the hotel was very hot and our first night we didn't sleep a wink as many other have commented on the noise, even though we were facing the back of the hotel!! The bed was uncomfortable, felt like the edges were collapsing and it was very wobbly!! The room itself was very small, just enough room to walk round the bed really.

Review 27:The location of the hotel was great, especially in relation to the car park. The wifi was also really good since we were in and out of signal. The bathroom was a good size with a lovely bath.

Review 28:Very poor evening meals, with vegetables and meat practically uncooked and unseasoned; even a 7-year old could cook better meals! Bacon at breakfast was not of best quality; we noticed most people had eggs instead. Poor variety in breads and bread rolls Brass plates on doors in corridors were sticky, and showing a lot of finger prints. Water-hammer effect when turning cold water tap on in out bathroom was reported, but not acted on. Finally,an attempt to charge us for a 4-course meal, even though it was registered on computer that we had a 2-course meal. This was corrected when we protested.

Review 29:Great location and reasonable comfort. Friendly and efficient staff.

Review 30:Overpriced, particularly hen taking into account the size of our bedroom. It's just as well we travel light. There was very little room to get round the bed!

Review 31:Friendly and helpful staff

Review 32:The bed was very hard and uncomfortable and the windows aren't double glazed so we could hear music and people outside witch kept us awake

Review 33:The location was great and the staff were very friendly and efficient and the breakfast was very good with plenty of choice

Review 34:From Arrival to Departure the Staff were excellant, especially Reception Staff. Gorgeous room ( Room 37 ) comfy nights sleep. Dog was allowed everywhere in the Hotel apart from the Dinning Room. Would defo book again

Review 35:The bar above was so noisy till 2 or3in the morning no good till that time when the lakes is fora relaxing break should be till midnight no later

Review 36:Everything

Review 37:Perfect location right in the centre of Keswick with free parking. Family room is excellent and had been beautifully refurbished since our stay last time.

Review 38:Probably the best hotel to go with a group of mature friends on a Saturday. It has a central location in Keswick, the town in the heart of the Lakes with a lot going on, things to do and pubs of character around every corner.

Review 39:The only fault we have with the hotel is the breakfast. The restraurant is very nice with the tables set out lovely and the waiting staff very good but the cooked breakfast was cold and unappetising. I think the food must be cooked well ahead and just transferred onto a plate as it is ordered. My bacon was cold and hard (you are only given one rasher) and the rest only just warm. The next day I ordered poached eggs on toast as I thought they would be cooked to order. They were cooked just right.

Review 40:The hotel is in the centre of Keswick with shops, pubs and cafés all around. Car parking is just at the back of the hotel and you can obtain a free parking pass from reception in the hotel. We find the staff very polite and helpful at all times. We have stayed at the Skiddaw many times and will always come back to the hotel in the future.

Review 41:The mattresses in the corridor when cleaning the rooms I guess this could not be helped

Review 42:The Staff were all excellent and couldn't be any friendlier or helpful

Review 43:I did not like the stairs.

Review 44:I liked the central location with easy access to shops and bars. Staff were very polite and keen to help. Conservatory was relaxing to sit in to read, people watch or eat .

Review 45:Being informed by the hotel that I'd been charged a single occupancy charge if I'd rang them direct my bill would have been 50 percent cheaper, very disappointed as used your web site for several trips now, lesson learnt!!!

Review 46:My stay at the skiddaw hotel was very good mainly because of the location plenty of eating choices

Review 47:The room was at the back if the hotel overlooking a nightclub with inadequate glazing to stop the noise. I was kept awake two and a half hours with drunk revellers. There was no info when booking the room noise was an issue - the man on reception in the morning said "yes, we get a few complaints about that room" with no apology.

Review 48:I couldn't get wifi and wasn't aware of a code Room little noisy at night would have liked a little lounge for friends coming over as the bar was noisy

Review 49:Bathroom. breakfast coffee facilities chairs table alarm clock tv very good position room nice pub and good food

Review 50:The hotel is in a very central location. Had an evening meal from the a la carte menu which was very enjoyable and good value for money. Waiting staff were prompt and efficient. Staying on B&B tariff and breakfast was very acceptable. Again waiting staff were prompt and efficient. Bar serves a variety of beers on hand pulled pumps.

Review 51:loved the location, food was nice, room was lovely and comfortable, nothing too much trouble, reception staff very accommodating, enjoyed our stay yet again, thankyou!

Review 52:Expensive for quality and location of hotel. Some parts of hotel dated. Poor sleep due to loud music from hotel next door and people inthe street.

Review 53:Friendly staff and good breakfast.

Review 54:cant think of any thing bad to say

Review 57:The reception area was very good and the location was excellent with sufficient parking. Good food and good evening entertainment

Review 58:We went for a late breakfast on our first day and the cooked breakfast was cold and I has to send it back

Review 59:All of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful

Review 60:Very pricey compared to other places. Staff forgot to bring tea and toast on last breakfast. Had to be reminded twice.

Review 61:Location very central. Room and bed comfortable. Nice breakfasts.

Review 62:Parking can be a bit hit and miss - we couldn't get parked in thepay car park at the rear, but hit lucky and got a spot at the rear ofthe hotel (there are 4 spots for guests) but don't be put off toomuch by that as there are lots of car parks nearby.

Review 63:We liked pretty much everything. Yes,the hotel is a little tired, andyes, we could probably find things to gripe about. But, this is a verycomfortable hotel in a great location, right on the main street inKeswick, and our 10 year-old girl loved it! We loved the pubs, shopsand cafes literally pin your doorstep, with Indian, Chines, Thai andItalian restaurants literally 1-200 yards down the road. The room wascomfy and had everything you would need for a short stay, bed andbedding good quality and our daughter had a single camp type bed thatshe said was very comfy. Breakfast was great, buffet for cereal, pastries, etc, and table service for a cooked breakfast. We are alreadyplanning our next trip!

Review 64:I couldn't open the typhoo tea bags in the room without resorting to finding a nail file. I would recommend changing to some that can be opened easily.

Review 65:I loved the location.

Review 66:The hotel is set in a great location, centre of town centre, plenty pubs and great food to eat, enjoyed sitting in skiddaw hotel conservatory with a drink watching the world go by, will defo be back before the year is up. Friendly staff too.
