Reviews for Hôtel Restaurant Les Vieilles Tours
Review 1:None
Review 2:More like a home, we felt we new the staff the moment we checked in. Great location for exploring the Dordogne and beautiful villages of Collonges-la-Rouge, Turenne , Cureminte and Rocamadour.
Review 3:Good but pretty expensive restaurant, breakfast could be better for the money. Lock to the bathroom didn't work.
Review 4:Nice staff, cozy room in atmospheric building. Good location.
Review 5:Not enough places to charge devices, no magnifying mirror or bathrobes. There were no windows in our room, so for a breeze, the front door had to be opened. In summer, bugs would be a problem. The breakfast was generous but pricey (12E + more for eggs).
Review 6:Sleep in an old country farmhouse surrounded by vineyards and gorgeous views, including an epic sunset the night we were there. The hosts are accommodating and low key. The bed wasn't terribly comfortable but the wi-fi worked great. Very relaxing and rustic. We were glad we chose this rather than staying in touristy Rocamador.
Review 7:Room was tired and needed redecoration. Missing a proper shower. Generally overpriced, especially the breakfast.
Review 8:Beautiful views over the hills. Good quality restaurant. Convenient location for visiting Rocamadour. Plenty of car parking.
Review 9:Les Vieilles Tours is a calm, relaxed oasis in an excellent location for exploring. The surroundings are tranquil, the restaurant is excellent, and the staff are quietly efficient.
Review 10:The evening meal was excellent, the service fabulous, and the general friendliness and helpfulness, towards us Brits trying to speak French without feeling embarassed was a rare treat.
Review 11:The night we stayed was one of the warmest in this part of France for many years.Unfortunately our room had no fan or air con which led to a restless night
Review 12:Rooms are in various well adapted outbuildings clustered-around the main building housing the restaurant and all set in wonderful countryside. We had an excellent meal in the relaxing restaurant served by friendly attentive staff
Review 13:It is very good... but such charm comes at a price!!
Review 14:The location overlooking glorious countrside is really special. The historic buildings are charming and the rooms in the stone outbuildings are charming... and all so close to Rocamadour. We have stayed here before and will stay again.
Review 15:Room was not very clean (esp. Bathroom). Restaurant is completely overpriced featuring pretentious cooking and overly complicated dishes.
Review 16:Front house and restaurant staff are absolutely lovely.
Review 17:Nothing
Review 18:The location was great. Close to Rocamadour (3 min), but in a secluded location with wonderful view! The feel of the place was great. Kept the charm of the older buildings, but was updated with everything a traveller needed. We travelled with 2 dogs, and they were welcomed nicely.
Review 19:Our host has a beautiful property, a wonderful restaurant with excellent cuisine, and spacious modern rooms with all amenities. We were also very impressed with his personal service and advice in relation to how and when to visit the local attractions.
Review 20:Situated on a hill with lovely views across the valley. We stayed in the annexe room where you are able to have breakfast served in your room at no extra charge. The room was a good size and the king size bed very comfortable. Meal in the restaurant was excellent. Laurent on reception was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area, he told us which we're the prettiest villages to visit and we were not disappointed.
Review 21:Nothing at all.
Review 22:The food was exceptional. Pool looked very inviting. Bedroom overlooking countryside with your own frontage to sit out on. Lovely 30 minute walk into Rocamadour.
Review 23:No wi-fi but we were on holiday so..
Review 24:Fantastic place. Excellent food. Lovely room in the Tower! Lovely pool. Also able to go to the Rocamadour music festival to hear a concert on the day we arrived.
Review 25:Due to some confusion on whether or not the breakfast was included the manager lost his temper. The mistake was ours and we admitted this, but he thought we were trying to get out of paying. It was not a money issue and we said we were happy to pay. What up set us was the accusations that Canadians/Americans always try to be cheap, the yelling at us, belligerent and swearing, especially in front of our small children. Then complained about our last minute online booking and how inconvenient it can be. I would suggest then, he remove this ability if he is happy to lose an increasing portion of travellers who wing it while traveling and just stop at places that look great. Unacceptable professional service at any level. The location and hotel itself is what drew us in the first place, and a room was available for the family, while travelling in the area. For us, this was a great facility but our experience totally ruined by the manager.
Review 26:Location, setting, architecture, pool. Facilities, restruraunt
Review 27:No frigo, no climatization, pretentious restaurant.
Review 28:Beautiful view, lovely swimming pool, best wi-fi ever (conects even in the swimming pool area), spacious room.
Review 29:No Aircondition. Very small towels. Flies everywhere. Couldn't decide if we wanted to sit inside to eat.
Review 30:The food in the gourmet stay. Quiet area.
Review 31:Nothing. All was all right.
Review 32:Kindness of personnel. Facilities. Breakfast. Dinner. Excellent disposition of the manager in order to help me in finding other hotels along my journey.
Review 33:Thanks to Laurent and his staff for a great stay.
Review 34:Exceptional dinners
Review 35:Room
Review 36:Wonderful meal and breakfast .room disappointing
Review 37:Room in tower nice but extremely hot.
Review 38:Pool and great dinner on terrace.
Review 39:couldn't cool down at night during heatwave
Review 40:Friendly welcome, beautiful location, excellent food.
Review 41:Need to ask for a fan in hot weather and extra towels for the swimming pool.
Review 42:Location, views food.
Review 43:Very comfortable with welcoming owners and staff. The food was superb as was the ambience.
Review 44:Hotel set in excellent surroundings ideal for relaxing in after a day site seeing.
Review 45:While the rooms were in good shape, some minor refreshing could be done in the bathroom, but overall very good value for money.
Review 46:Wonderful view, quiet
Review 47:The park around the rooms, the space, the restaurant.
Review 48:The hospitality was excellent and location beautiful. Wish we had stayed for more than one night
Review 49:restaurant far too dear
Review 50:the surroundings the quiet restaurant serves vegetarian meals
Review 51:Grounds unkept, no shower, flies. Very basic for the price.
Review 52:breakfast was good
Review 53:Rooms need modernised
Review 54:Location,restaurant food was divine
Review 55:Room just needed a little TLC ie sockets not working
Review 56:Great position from Rocomador and Sarlat , the fantastic meals in restaurant, very helpful staff
Review 57:The food was a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. The presentation was amazing. It really was a first class gastronomic experience!!!
Review 58:No air conditioning
Review 59:Very beautiful, excellent restaurant Exceptional view from the pool area and restaurant
Review 60:The room was VERY small. There was a problem with noisy and rowdy guests which was dealt with in an efficient manner.
Review 61:The location is ideal. The hotel is clean and bright and modern. Our room was very small and a bit noisy. We were on the main corridor and the movement of people in the hotel was obvious. The staff were excellent.
Review 62:We booked family room and the kids has a seperate bunk bed room: this was very small and kids found it very tight with the room width so narrow you only had room to walk in and up ladder. Property was of age and loose sockets on the wall.
Review 63:Location of the property and the grounds. Had lots of parking and area for kids to run around outdoors. The master room had a mini fridge to put drinks in at night. Lovely breakfast with good selection. Few minutes drive into rocamadour.
Review 64:Everything was perfect. From the warm reception of the owner, not only providing us with the required informations, but also suggesting places to visit. First class restaurant.
Review 65:Minor suggestion would be some extra signs in the village to aid locating the hotel.
Review 66:Friendly helpful people. Superb setting with local historical buildings, church etc. Restaurant food was fabulous and not overly expensive. Pool and gardens are lovely.
Review 67:A bedside wall light and telephone point was hanging off the wall. The proprioter said it would be fixed; this was not done!
Review 68:Caring staff. Privacy and good restaurant
Review 69:The (double) bed was small and too soft to our taste. We are piscetarians and the dinner menu restricted us to a couple of choices each course, so more than 2 nights would have been repeptitive. Vegetarians would have had to ask for special help.
Review 70:The location is beautiful and easy walking distance of Rocamadour. The food and service are excellent, very welcoming, the bedrooms private (separate buildings) are quite comfortable, with well-appointed shower rooms and fairly quiet, the swimming pool is quite big and very pleasant
Review 71:Ants and insects tended to get inside the room which was not unexpected given the location of the rooms outside the main building.
Review 72:In the depths of the Dordogne but not to far away from Rocamadour. Lovely location to relax with wonderful views and a lovely restaurant. Staff very welcoming and gave us a short history of the hotel and tour. Lovely nooks and crannies to while away a few hours at any time of day.
Review 73:Small bed, lack of comfort in the room - no box of tissue, no kettle, no shower curtain, lack of drawer space, dirty toilet brush. The hotel was not cheap but the public facilities were excellent with nice decor and furniture. They let themselves down on what is provided in the room.
Review 74:Food excellent. Setting lovely with great views. Receptionist super helpful.
Review 75:Small thing about the bathroom was that there weren't any shower curtain, resulting in a wet floor after showering.
Review 76:Everything! The staff at the front desk were all smiles and very, very helpful and friendly. We got upgraded to a special room, a one of its kind within the Hotel. The rooms were spacious, clean and nicely scented. The view of the valleys in the courtyard were amazing. The restaurant serves excellent food and Rocamadour is just a less than 5 mins drive away. Excellent. Highly recommended!
Review 77:In France for over 5 weeks, we stayed 3 nights here in a deluxe double room. Great quiet rural location only a short drive to Rocamadour, and near La Dordogne. Loved it all - the charming old stone buildings, the views over the lush green countryside, the comfortable room with beautiful décor, the luxury toiletries. The restaurant food was excellent and we dined there twice; the buffet breakfasts were also very good. Very good value - a place to be treasured. Hope to return one day.
Review 78:Room was down level quality than restaurant. bathroom could be renovate it will be prefect.
Review 79:Room was Ok, but the restaurant was the best of our stay. Good scenary and quiet.
Review 80:Stunning location in the hills, very helpful service, even calling us during the day to ensure we had a restaurant reservation for the evening Excellant restaurant and very relaxing.
Review 81:nothing all good!!!!
Review 82:Ambience, location and the restaurant and food were absolutely spot on; truly reflected the locality. I would make a real point of going again in the future and will do so!
Review 83:Loved it all.
Review 84:Everything-the service was friendly and efficient and it was only 5 minutes from Rocamadour. The dinner was magnificent. We would certainly stay there again.
Review 85:We travel from Spain to the U.K. several times a year and find it theideal stopover. The location, comfort, peace and quiet are wonderful. The food is fantastic, we really look forward to our stay.
Review 86:Tea/coffee making facilities and a box of tissues would have been welcome additions to the room facilities. As Brits we found the service at dinner rather slow- but that's the French way of dining. A little more variety in the dinner menu-it was the same for the 3 nights we stayed there, with limited options for vegetarians.
Review 87:The staff were exceptionally pleasant, welcoming and accommodated our every request immediately, whether it was providing a pot of tea on the terrace or replacing a light bulb in the bedroom. The rooms were scattered throughout the various old farm buildings on the extensive site, and were beautifully finished. The layout and setting were truly stunning. The quality and presentation of the food at breakfast and dinner were excellent.
Review 88:The only thing that could be improved is to add aircon
Review 89:We loved everything about this hotel ! The proximity to Rocamdour which is a real jewel itself, the atmosphere, the decor, the staff, the views, and the food, wow !
Review 90:A few more electrical outlets would be helpful.
Review 91:Very helpful and pleasant staff. Very good restaurant. The half board deal is worth it. The bathroom and shower were great.
Review 92:Absolutely everything! It was a perfect stay; the hotel staff were super friendly and very welcoming and the hotel was way beyond our expectations. I'm not sure why it is classed as a three star hotel as I've stayed in is liar hotels awarded 5 stars. The food was excellent and the gastronomic break was very good value for money.
Review 93:Bed was awful, repeat awful and no window or air flow ... except for anopen doorway to the country farm with insects. Both my wife and Idreaded a second night because of that ... and I am a retired Airborne,Infantry, Ranger. .. and when paid a meager wage will put up withinsects and snakes ... but hope for better when I am paying for it.My wife accurately described it as 3-Star "camping" ... without the tent. Bring your own hair dryer to this puppy. We give this a qualified RECOMMENDED rating for a one-night-stand.
Review 94:Wonderful blend of hotel and restaurant ... for one night only.Loved the GIANT size bottle of spray aerosol insect spray ... and the pre-treatment of the room. Supper restaurant was very nice with pleasant views, and the food good, but not great.
Review 95:We have stayed here before and were keen to return as the restaurant is amazing. Definitely one of the best you will experience. Our package was excellent value for money . I would highly recommend this place to others. The rooms are basic but nicely decorated and clean and comfortable. The surrounds being slightly out of town and the restaurant are the draw card here.
Review 96:Lovely facility. The staff were friendly and accomodating. Very nicedinner and breakfast. Too bad about the weather but no one can controlthat!! We enjoyed our stay there with it's excellent proximity toRocamadour.
Review 97:We had travelled a long way that day and our expectations were high, we were not disappointed in any way. The hotel is visually exciting, the location breathtaking, the rooms excellant as is the welcome from Lauren (the owner/manager), and the food is more than superb. We have travelled widely and not found better food, interesting choices and value for money in France. If you are within fifty miles why go anywhere else, believe me !
Review 98:The food was excellent and the proprietors friendly and helpful. Therooms were spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. Although we bookedprimarily for the location,as we were heading south, we would have nohesitation in going back on another occasion simply to enjoy the foodand explore the area.
Review 99:Wonderful views and a most welcome pool. Very enjoyable meal.
