Reviews for Hotel Esta

Review 1:We expected better value for money. Windows haven't been cleaned since 1978. Wifi didn't work properly. Details were under than average hotels in the range.

Review 2:Staff was great! Very attentive and helpful. Breakfast was ok.

Review 3:To the street it can be a bit noise. Mattresses are a little hard.

Review 4:The staff is incredible. Very accommodating! They try everything to make your stay a pleasurable one! The hotel is good value for the money and as it is hard to get a decent hotel in Yangon under 80-100 USD, Esta is definitely a good choice. If you worry about location and it being far from the center - its a 1 dollar/6 minutes taxi ride. Breakfast is also pretty decent. I stayed there several times for periods as long as 8 days.

Review 5:Nice, clean hotel. Friendly staff and good breakfast. A little way out of town but a fifteen minute walk to main area of Yangon. Easy to access the downtown area for those who like to walk the streets and see the sights.

Review 6:Liked everything because it is relatively new but the laminates are beginning to show some mileage. Modest AMB but good nevertheless.

Review 7:Unbelievable staff from top to bottom, cleanliness, comfortable bed.

Review 8:I actually booked for double bed but we got 2 attached singles bed .. Made us not comfortable a bit but it's not a big problem.

Review 9:Good location with nice staffs and very helpful especially for my sarong :)

Review 10:Room was small and cramped. Would not like to stay for a week. Two days is enough. Food was good enough but not great.

Review 11:Bathrooms and rooms very clean. A good TV with a reasonable choice of programmes and a comfortable bed.

Review 12:I needed one load of laundry washed and dried, which should have cost US $5 and I was was charged US $25!! This is not NY, London or Tokyo; this was Yangon!! Also, the hotel used an exchange rate of 1250 Kyat to 1 USD, when the real rate was 1300 to 1. Even the money changers on the street were offering 1285 and 1295 and they are famous for gouging, but the Esta is even better at taking your money. On principal, I wouldn't stay there again.

Review 13:The hotel was pleasant, clean and comfortable and staff were good and helpful.

Review 14:- the position of the aircon a bit unconvenient as the wind blew straight on the bed. -Wifi is okey! Slow like anywhere else in myanmar but still working.

Review 15:Stayed here for 4 days. * Staff were very helpful and kind. * Food was good. * Room is clean. * Room service very nice

Review 16:great staff, good restaurant, fast wifi considering the overall modest Internet reliability in Yangon. Great location. Better than other hotels in the area in same price category.

Review 17:Expensive, under renovation/construction, hot water not great

Review 18:Decent rooms, free wi-fi worked pretty well, walking distance to chinatown, good breakfast, cold A/C

Review 19:The second stay I arrived later in the morning at the airport, so traffic made the trip to hotel well over 25 minutes longer. This was not a problem for me, but be aware of your schedule.

Review 20:The facilities were clean, staff was friendly and helpful. The wifi worked well in both rooms on my two stays (a week apart).

Review 21:Location not good, bed uncomfortable and room not so clean (dirty floor).

Review 22:The staff is very friendly and we were able to understand them when speaking Engkish. Breakfast has limited choice but quality is good (Burmese fried rice is great).

Review 23:Noisy streets on 3 sides of the hotel and very poor window insulation. Breakfast limited choice. Bit pricey for what i would label a 3 star hotel. Poor Wi-Fi in the room, but lobby Wi-Fi was OK.

Review 24:Very friendly and helpful staff Location. Good location.

Review 25:Location is not the best in town. Quite far from everything but the vibe was ok. Wifi not too good like everywhere in Myanmar.

Review 26:We had a room with a window but The curtains had to stay closed all day due to th sun. Room was big and clean. Wooden floor. Good aircon. Breakfast was very good. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 27:The bed could be more comfortable. Pillows can be hit and miss, but are on average way better than other hotels in Yangon

Review 28:The staff was super friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good and abundant. Rooms are spacious, with cable tv and newly furnished bathrooms

Review 29:The hotel has no charme, but it's Ok for one or two nights. WiFi did not really work, but I had a local SIM card, so I did not rely on it.

Review 30:Very friendly staff. Good breakfast.

Review 31:Warm and friendly welcome from enthusiast young staff at Reception.Pleased we were able to check in early from our international flight.Pleasant, tidy room-totally adequate for our 3 night stay. Breakfastfairly basic with simple continental buffet and a choice of either aWestern or Burmese dish off the a la. Carte.menu. Efficient, if somewhatOVER-attentive.staff but totally eager to please. As Yangon is so spreadout, we needed to get taxis to most tourist sites, although we walked toBogyoke. Aung San Market in around 20-25 minutes, often on theroad's edge due to poor/no footpaths. The hotel always quotedthe going-taxi-rate so we knew what to expect (or bargain some more!)Absolutely great spot for our Yangon visit.

Review 32:I discovered bed bugs in one of my pillows. I woke up to bite marks and found the actual bugs in the pillowcase. I requested a new pillow and explained that my pillow had bugs though I'm not sure they understood the severity i.e. they need to throw the pillow away as opposed to washing the case and giving it to another guest. For a hotel at this standard, bed bugs are unacceptable.

Review 33:Clean and spacious room, strong wifi, large bathroom, cable tv, large dining selection and all delicious.

Review 34:Located out of the busy part of town but nice and quite at night. Nice big room and a fantastic breakfast, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Good price quality balance.

Review 35:As previously stated on here, avoid room 201. The rooms in general are very small and more than one or two nights would be frustrating. Staff are fine although better English would be an improvement. Also laundry facilities than could turn around in less than two days.

Review 36:New hotel, clean and centrally located.

Review 37:I stayed there two times. It seems like in Yangon; all the hotels are overpriced. Why is this the case in one of the poorest countries ranking between Sudan and Ghana? The first time the room was clean the second time the floor was dirty like it had been swept but not mopped in a while. The walls could also use a painting. I was too tired to complain after a 13 hour bone jarring bus ride. This would be about the same as a 50 USD a night Motel 6 in the USA but at 80 to 90 USD per night is quite out of line. If you are going through Yangon you are pretty much stuck with the unreasonable hotel prices until you get out of the city. The breakfast is very simple. No juice just a sugared juice like drink. Don't even think about ordering the French toast.

Review 38:They have a helpful friendly staff.

Review 39:Not able to make international phone calls from the room

Review 40:After a tour of Myanmar staying in good but very expensive hotels I was pleased to find this comfortable accomodation at a reasonable price The staff were most helpful and breakfast excellent Although not very near the centre of Yangon the walk is most interesting and there are good restaurants nearby.

Review 41:We stayed in a different room which was not good. The bathroom was tiny and the bed which was two singles pushed together only had 2 pillows

Review 42:The first room we stayed in was great and the breakfast was really nice too.

Review 43:None except that WiFi was disconnected once for a few hours during my 3 nights stay.

Review 44:The hotel is at a convenient location in downtown. The room is clean and spacious. Staff are friendly and try to help you. Breakfast, where you order your main plate, is of good quality. Overall I enjoyed my stay at ESTA.

Review 45:smell from bathroom's drain. ROOF have no sound insulate, you can not sleep when raining.top floor no good if raining. Breakfast-not what you're looking for.

Review 46:Clean.

Review 47:Prices in Yangon (and Myanmar) are definitely inflated. At the same time the hotel industry is booming. Esta is a rather typical product of the above - offering clean, relatively modern accomodation but not too many value added services to travellers at a price that gets you more in other countries in the region. Breakfast is average. Location is not that great if you plan to walk around but it's only a short taxi ride to the main sights in central Yangon. We stayed in the hotel for 2 stays; setup of the first room was worse than of the second. Staff does not speak good English which is fine unless you run into issues. Hotel is new so carry address with you as taxi drivers do not know it.

Review 48:Hotel offers what it says it will. Clean and relatively spacious rooms meet the 3-star standard, with aircon, a safe and working internet connection. Location is okay to travel around by taxi but not too exciting on its own.

Review 49:There was nothing not to like.

Review 50:Bed Service 24 hour desk. We arrived unannounced at 5.30 am from the night bus from nyaung shwe. We had a room ready for us within 45 mins. Excellent service. Would come back here again next time in Yangon.

Review 51:Not a great location a bit out of the way, although there are a couple of average places to eat nearby and a handy mini mart. It's overpriced, but then most hotels in Yangon are. The room was clean but devoid of any charm or welcoming feeling, it felt a bit like a private room in a hospital!!!

Review 52:As everywhere in Myanmar, the staff were lovely. The room was clean, good shower and plenty of hot water.

Review 53:Having to stand on chair to turn or con on, we had to get staff to do this every time we returned to our room. Wasn't a problem for them.

Review 54:Staff willingness to do anything to help Clean, modern, larger than usual rooms. Breakfast included and loved the Burmese fried rice!

Review 55:The location of the hotel was not that proper when it comes to travelling to the other parts of the city centre.

Review 56:I liked the infrastructural conveniences about the hotel which were in an immaculate conditions.

Review 57:The staff was the best, the rooms comfortable and clean.

Review 78:location, facilities, internet quality

Review 79:Location a little removed from the action - taxi ride to centre or 20-30 minute walk

Review 80:Comfortable, modern and clean - good facilities

Review 81:Wi-Fi is very poor on my first night , but excellent on the second night.

Review 82:Nice Breakfast
