Reviews for Edelweiss

Review 1:Delightful small hotel for the older traveller. Peaceful and quiet, charming hosts and excellent half board. Need a car as just above the town

Review 2:The Grandmere is a fierce patroller of breakfast - she insisted we sit on a particular table and ticked off my 17 and 19 year old daughters for removing food and daring to sit on another table. In the end I had to talk to Madam and say that I did not appreciate her mother telling my adult children off for doing what they (and I) thought was entirely reasonable. I think the breakfast fee was quite high for what we got and to then be told that we could not remove food from the dining area (because they thought we were stealing lunch and wanted to make another €5 on a roll) was a bit rich. Why not simply roll the cost of breakfast into the rates as most places do? Bit tight in the rooms, they do vary so ask if you want a larger one. Wifi does not work in basement rooms. Bit stingy on soaps etc in bathrooms. The evening menu is limited to two dishes: fondue or tartiflette (mr has cut back on catering owing to ill health). Latter is good, but you can only eat it once. So if you want full board look elsewhere or be prepared to eat out.

Review 3:Very friendly Madame and Monsieur. Clean room if on small side. Nice view. Good bed.

Review 4:Small & cosy feeling sitting area with an open log fire; good food and friendly staff. Parking in the courtyard by the hotel. Rooms small but fine, and tiny en-suite bath/shower was fine

Review 5:Location is quite high above village but walkable in 15 minutes.

Review 6:Hosts couldnt have been more helpful - ran us down to the ski lifts every morning, picked us up one day when it had turned wet, and very friendly with it.Hearty savoyard food of very high standard - simple but well done

Review 7:no negative comments about this place.

Review 8:Perfect room for a small family. Single bed in a seperate alcove away from the main bedroom. Lovely balcony. Breakfast excellent and cosy sitting area for the evenings. Travel distance to skilift was a matter of minutes, so absolutely fine.

Review 9:Nothing, but location away from centre so car required.

Review 10:Friendly staff, excellent food, comfortable room, comfy bed, good shower, lovely view, free parking, wifi in rooms

Review 11:You must have a car to stay here - if you do then the location above the town is not a problem. When we were there, the restaurant wasn't open every night because of family illness. The one dinner we had, however, was delicious savoyard food.

Review 12:excellent wifi, stunning views over the samoens valley, good breakfast, pretty salon with open fire

Review 13:the was no place to live ski and ski boots, we where told off because we took a pice of bread back to our room even considering we pay for three of us and we were only two staing

Review 14:no kettle

Review 15:the balcony the breakfast the dinner sliding plate glass doors onto balcony a real bath plenty of hot water a drying room for the one day we had wet clothes being above samoens was much nicer than being centre ville because of the view

Review 16:Staff came in to clean the toilet and broke it whilst we were out. They didn't notify us on our return, nor did they leave a note in the room telling us not to use it. Later, when out again, they fixed it and used my towel to dry dirty hands.

Review 17:Nice location, up the hill from town.

Review 18:As a person of 1,9m i awakened at 5 o clock in the morning with pain at my back. The staff wouldn't give me another bed as it seemed to be my healthy problem. Ugh? There is no shower curtain wich is dangerous as the electric light (230 volts) is located 50cm near the shower head.

Review 19:Cleaning was done properly. Breakfast is tasty.

Review 20:The walls are very thin, so you can hear the people snoring and using the bathroom in the next room

Review 21:wonderful views

Review 22:Dinner was average. Breakfast at 10 € not worth the effort.

Review 23:Room and bed were comfortable after 4 nights in mountain refuges.

Review 24:epxensive

Review 25:views

Review 26:Location up hill meant it eas nice and quiet. Just a bit of a walk to town

Review 27:Lovely place to stay with a fantastic view from our balcony. Private bathroom was a bonus and the room was beautifully appointed.

Review 28:The views and the room was clean plus comfortable

Review 29:The cozy feel and welcoming staff

Review 30:Cosy hotel with good rooms and a good breakfast, nice and quite at night, plenty of parking.

Review 31:Slightly long walk up the hill with ski boots on!

Review 32:Really helpful owners, cozy lounge bar with real fire

Review 33:Rooms were a bit worn.

Review 34:Breakfast was excellent. Staff are friendly

Review 35:Nothing

Review 36:Everything

Review 37:Nothing to complain about but the location was not ideal for reaching the ski lifts.

Review 38:Nice place with a good view. Food great. Try the tartiflette.

Review 39:Great location and comfortable clean rooms.

Review 40:.The lock system of the doors looked pretty "Middle-Age style" and it was even difficult to duly lock the door due to difficulties to insert the key! . the rooms wee certainly stylish in the mid-sixties, but it is not exactly the case nowadays ;-)

Review 41:- The food was nice - The staff was very kind and helpful - The "diots" (sausages) are worth the try!

Review 42:If you don't have a car then it's location is not ideal as it's a good 10min walk up a fairly steep hill. If you're carrying your on luggage or have to walk in ski boots it's a bit of a hassle.

Review 43:The staff were very friendly. Very good value for money. Great view across the valley.

Review 44:But Location not good unless you have a car and are not drinking. The walk to and from the hotel everyday a couple of times a day about broke us. It was fine apart from that as it was basically a bed and breakfast for us, we will be going back next year but to a hotel in the centre!

Review 45:We have just been for a long wknd and breakfast and a bed was all we needed which is covered fine. Wifi available and the whole hotel was very warm. We had 2 evening meals and they were nice.

Review 46:It is about a kilometer up from the village, up a road without a pavement, so car really required.

Review 47:Amazing view from the balcony. Quadruple room had a bunk bed in the entrance and double bed in the main room which worked very well. Very friendly staff, good food.

Review 48:I stayed here half board for ten days over Christmas and absolutely loved it. It's a warm, pretty hotel run by lovely people who cook lovely food.

Review 49:Decor and lighting a bit dated.

Review 50:Very clean. Very good family room set up, with bunk beds in separate hall way.Very nice continental breakfast. Lovely view over valley.

Review 51:The meal in the hotel restaurant was excellent and very good value for money. The hotel was comfortable and clean and we had a lovely view from our balcony. The owners were friendly.

Review 52:The bedroom was small and very dated. Hardly enough room to move in the bathroom, no bath and the shower fixtures were broken.

Review 53:The staff were helpful and the breakfast was nice. Free WIFI throughout.

Review 54:Rooms were spotlessly clean. Very warm welcome from the family-run hotel. Food was delicious, and service relaxed and friendly. Good value for a ski resort, especially the room-rate for a weekend stay.

Review 55:The bed was small - but other rooms had bigger ones. Snow tyres or chains are needed to get out onto the road when there is snow.

Review 56:Friendly; good value;charmingly simple; Good restaurant with very pleasant atmosphere.

Review 57:Breakfast could have been better It is nice to start a days skiing with a cooked breakfast but definatly NOT available from early morning staff !!

Review 58:Food was excellant. Owner Chef is very good .

Review 59:Nothing really.

Review 60:Stay here every time. Lovely views and friendly people. Very clean and 2 mins into village. Steve Cartwright.

Review 61:not very nice staff.

Review 62:Teddy bears

Review 63:Restaurant was good. Room was comfortable and clean. Great view. All around good experience

Review 64:Basic but quite adequate

Review 65:Great view from the room, friendly reception, pleasant surroundings

Review 66:It was a budget hotel and we could book for just a few nights. Most hotels in the area only take bookings for a minimum of 4 nights.

Review 67:excellent food

Review 68:Welcoming atmosphere. Family run hotel and restaurant, make us feel at home. Wonderful views from the room.
