Reviews for Matisse Hotel

Review 1:This hotel was amazing in every way. The staff were so helpful and so friendly, nothing was a problem. The bedroom was perfect, lovely cotton sheets and good sized towels. Fabulous location and a great base to travel from and see the south of France!

Review 2:The lady who assisted us at the front desk on arrival was one of the nicest most helpful people we met on our entire trip! She gave us the most beautiful site-seeing and dinner recommendations. We also met the manager the next morning who was equally as lovely! We are on other side of the world, and I would fly back to experience this lovely stay all over again.

Review 3:The staff were absolutely incredible - discrete yet attentive and personal. Turn down service in the afternoon replaced our towels same day as check in and nespresso machines were appreciated. Blackout shutters means no light gets in!

Review 4:Small family rooms, no view from windows. Cramped feel. Spartan poor quality furniture, stains on carpets, lots of mold in the bathroom tiles and floor, not very clean.

Review 5:Staff is exceptional in their courtesy and service.

Review 6:The shower was only in the bath and not high enough to shower under

Review 7:The staff were friendly, always greeted us when we came in or went out. Location fabulous, a 5 minute walk to the beach and 10 minutes to the boat across the bay.

Review 8:The shower in bath lacked a wall bracket, so you always had to hold the shower head

Review 9:Location excellent, parking charge reasonable.Breakfast great value and quality.

Review 10:Very nice property, extremely friendly & professional staff, great breakfast on the terrace, nice pool area, centrally located, great value for money!

Review 11:The bathtube was a little bit small. But yes, we could be able to take a shower.

Review 12:The location is awsome. It is 5 min walk away from the plage and located at the city center. Staff and the owner of the hotel was so friendly, kind, and helpful (that was the most important thing for us). The breakfast was quite satisfactory.

Review 13:The only bad thing was the poor Wifi network probably because my room was at the end of the hallway.

Review 14:The location is perfect. Very close from the beach and from restaurants and shops. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast delicious.

Review 15:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was super clean (which is not very common). Breakfast was fresh and satisfying. Air conditioning was well functioning (not loud or windy).

Review 16:Everything about my stay in this hotel was excellent. The staff were friendly, always on hand and attentive. My room was lovely, with a balcony overlooking the pool, modern light bathroom. The pool's great. I'd highly recommend it.

Review 17:small bathroom especially extremely small shower plate lcd-tv as bog as a laptopscreen

Review 18:super friendly staff, recently redecorated lobby, nice breakfast area along swimming pool, good hygiene, green programm.

Review 19:I like a full blown shower so I can stand under shower head and not worry about spray getting out. Only complaint.

Review 20:Room was good. Not huge but comfortable bed and nicely clean and decorated.

Review 21:From check in to checking out it was all so easy! Every single staff member was exceptional could not fault anything. Location was fantastic recommend.

Review 22:The air in the room became "stuffy" during the night. It was impossible to keep balcony door open due to high wind outside. We did not get the good nights sleep we needed. The air condition should have been switched on by the staff.

Review 23:The staff was excellent. The room was fine.

Review 24:Shower (using simple curtains) a little bit behind the otherwise excellent facilities. Some of the rooms have a poor view (a wall nearby).

Review 25:Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Good design, top location right in the middle of Set Maxime. Good car parking conditions for guests in a public garage nearby.

Review 26:It is a bit small

Review 27:Good service and friendly staff. Clean room Close to the fun places Cheap mini bar The complimentary items they leave for you in the bathroom are really nice. The hotel is eco-conscious

Review 28:Our only criticism would be the pillows - they were very thin and so we felt like we didn't have any on the bed

Review 29:The location and staff - it felt very welcoming

Review 30:Fresh, designer, very friendly staff and atmosphere. Excellent service and delicious food. Pool is an oasis from enjoyable busy street. Can't beat the location too. Highly recommend!

Review 31:Parking was said to be available and wasn't. This added around 15 - 20 Euros a day to the cost We don't like dogs in hotels which this hotel allows

Review 32:Location was great for central Ste Maxime, beach and ferry to St Tropez Staff attitude was first class. They couldn't have been more helpful Comfortable rooms with effective air conditioning

Review 33:I think a good quality breakfast packaged rate would be very appealing to travelers - not many on offer in that area so a unique opportunity. The breakfast currently is pretty average but would be so easy to fix to be something a little more special

Review 34:Great location close to market etc and easy access to St Tropez by the ferry shuttle.

Review 35:Shower head is attached to a low level bracket over the bath therefore you have to pick the shower head up then put it down whilst showering. It might sound pedantic but it would be much easier to fit the shower head bracket head high - 2 minute job and hey presto a hands free shower :-)

Review 36:Arrived very late at night, staff were great, hotel is a stone's throw from restaurants, bars and beach. Municipal carpark with 300 spaces opposite hotel.

Review 37:Staff was wonderful. We came in from Nice and stayed in St Maxime because of how close it was close to St Tropez. Only a 15 min ferry away from St Tropez and the bus from St Raphael train station was a 2 min walk away. The ferry was only a 5 min walk. Close to shops.

Review 38:No power socket near the mirror so hair straighteners didn't reach. Had to use my make up compact mirror.

Review 39:The bed was very comfy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool area was lovely.

Review 40:We only stayed one night as we were moving into an apartment the next day, but for the night we did stay, they kindly upgraded one of our rooms. The staff were extremely friendly and allowed us to use the pool after we had checked out while we waited to check into our apartment. I would definitely recommend to friends and family and would use them again.

Review 41:Staff are very kind ..The room is nice and clean ..Brekfast was very good

Review 42:Lovely reception/communal areas, nice staff and short walk to quality beachfront and restaurants

Review 43:The reception staff were wonderful. So friendly and helpful. The location was perfect and the room was comfortable. A value 3 star hotel.

Review 58:Love the location. The fact there is a pool a huge plus. Staff top to bottom great.

Review 59:No shower fitting in bath

Review 60:Front Desk Clerk, proximity to town, water, and restaurants...

Review 61:Nothing!

Review 62:The staff are excellent and friendly. The service is brilliant and the hotel is within easy reach of everything in Ste Maxime

Review 63:Very good value for money. Perfect location and very very helpful staff.

Review 64:Central Good breakfast Great service Resonable price

Review 65:An amazing hotel, 2nd year in a row now and the newly refurbished Matisse certainly didn't disappoint.

Review 66:Beds

Review 67:Location

Review 68:Great lobby, nice pool area

Review 69:Lovely town and really in the center of the town. There are free parking spots if you walk 10 mins. A side tip: highly recommend to visit the Mama Mia restaurant and order a spaghetti frutti di mare. It is great!

Review 70:The parking spaces immediately outside the hotel were only available for 10 minutes unless it was after 10pm. There was a public car park across the road but we were advised parking was free and were therefore reluctant to pay €13 each day. We managed to find some free parking spaces near the police station and school.

Review 71:Greeted by very informative member of staff who told us all about local area and showed us all the features of our room. Hotel in great location in Saint Maxime -close to restaurants and the port and not too far from Saint Tropez (taxi boat just a few minutes from hotel which takes you to St. Tropez otherwise 25mins drive) Didn't use pool area although it looked quite clean and had a nice atmosphere. Hotel left us a complimentary bottle of rosé in the room to celebrate father's day which was a nice gesture.

Review 72:A little on the pricey side. But hey - we were in Sainte-Maxime in the French Riviera!!!

Review 73:Excellent & friendly staff, clean & airy room, great location (few minutes from the beach, town center, restaurants).

Review 74:Corinne at reception was the most lovely lady we have encountered on our 1 month holiday through the French Riviera. Pool facilities was nice. All staff very helpful with recommendations.

Review 75:Only tip is to secure a car spot especially in the busy season.

Review 76:The staff were outstanding, incredibly helpful and accommodating. Very comfortable beds, excellent location and breakfast just right. Were going to stay for 1 night, though ended up staying a second and the staff did their best to help us out in a tricky situation.

Review 77:Pool was dirty and only a quarter full, main reason we booked hotel, made it not such good value

Review 78:Friendly reception staff, good location and comfortable

Review 79:Pillows in the room can be better and the showers too, but is more a suggestion that a complaint

Review 80:All the staff were excellent a special thanks to Corinne a the reception for her kindness and for her smile, also very helpfull with information about sainte maxime, the location is perfect and the prices are very affordable

Review 81:Very friendly and helpful personnel. We had a Family room which was plenty big enough for us. It was clean and tidy, the pool was lovely and refreshing and the Location was brilliant. We took a boat over to St Tropez which was Close by, the Shops and Restaurants come to life in the evening and are great fun without being loud. The room was very quiet.

Review 82:Would improve lighting in the bedroom

Review 83:Very spacious room and very friendly staff. In general very pleased with the stay. The location is just perfect, very central and plenty of Parking around.

Review 84:room was a bit dark in the night, could have done with better lighting system

Review 85:air conditioning was effective and not dusty/damp rooms were cleaned to a good standard reception staff were helpful, pleasant and very warm/kind location is excellent and feels safe even as a solo female at night (with usual precautions)

Review 86:Great location. The gal behind the counter was very helpful...offering lots of great information and warm smiles. Great to be able to walk to lots of good restaurants.

Review 87:no restaurant in the hotel, but there's lots of choice nearby.

Review 88:Free wi-fi connection, comfortable room for low price (as I went during low season), nice breakfast, well located within Ste Maxime, public car park free for 48 hrs nearby.

Review 89:The staff doesn't speak great english, at leats the lady that was in the reception when we got there. The rooms have poor lighting.

Review 90:This is the perfect location if you can't afford to stay in Saint Tropez. The hotel is great, the rooms are spacious, the parking is very close by. Good facilities.

Review 91:This time we stayed we felt that the room was very small for two people. The shower was minute, very difficult to wash hair or to turn around. However,we would stay here again making sure that we had a better room.

Review 92:We have stayed here many times and love the atmosphere and location. The cleanliness is first class and the staff are all excellent. We don't very often have breakfast but when we do it has been very good with plenty of choices.

Review 93:Std room is very poor Overall decor is quite dated

Review 94:Not very expensive hotel close to the seaside and St.Maxime beach Short boat ride to St.Tropez - for yacht watching or for the excellent tracking trails around (follow Sentier du Litteral - path along the coast with wonderful sea views and small cozy beaches) Ok breakfast - plus to std french croissants and coffee, they have fruits, eggs (at extra price), meat and cheese cuts, yogurts, and cereals. We were in the std rooms - it was very bad - small, with windows few meters from the other building wall, with a bad smell, and noise from large ventilation. Second nice we moved to superior room - much nicer! Much bigger, with pool view and much nicer bathroom, for only 5€ plus it is definitely worth it.

Review 95:The hotel was in a perfect position. Right in the town centre and close to restaurants, beach, harbour and boat excursions. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely pool area, with comfortable loungers. Patio area for having breakfast and light lunches. Food was good and reasonably priced. The room was clean and had a fridge, tv, hairdryer and it was cleaned every day with changes of towels/bedding etc. We stayed for six days and would definitely return. Very good indeed!!

Review 96:To nit pick: AC could go a little colder

Review 97:Great location Responsive, friendly staff Handy, though expensive, parking Attractive rooms Very nice pool, courtyard area

Review 98:Warning! Garage only for 2 small cars,( for example vw Golf) bookingneccessary! In the city is , limited possibilities to park and veryexpensive.

Review 99:Close to the centre of StMaxime, all interesting you will reach by walk.Nice and quite pool, and terace. St Tropez you can reach by ferry in 15minutes. WiFi access unlimited.

Review 100:Not cheap but good value anyway. Parking at the car park which is a better car park than often found in France and is about 80 yards away cost 15€ for about 20 hours so not cheap.

Review 101:This is a real find. The hotel is right in the middle of the action but in a quiet spot and close to parking. We were upgraded free on arrival and the room was a good size and of a good quality with a view of the pool. It's 88 yards from the beach but only 50 from the night life yet very quiet inside. The staff were excellent and little things added to the feelgood factor like when we ordered a beer on the terrace, it was accompanied by a bowl of crisps and guacamole free. Highly recommended. We would definitely return here if travelling to St Maxime again.

Review 102:Nothing to complain about, only parking charges but in fairness we knewabout that before we booked.

Review 103:This is really nice hotel with a pool in a great location. We had a hirecar and we were able to park in the small car park across from the hotelfree for 30 mins to drop off our luggage. We then moved the car to thelarge car park nearby at a cost of 12 euros per day. Our room was verycomfortable and overlooked the pool. The room was air conditioned whichwas essential as temperatures outside were 30 deg +. The room had a flatscreen tv, and a mini bar/fridge. It was quiet and extremely comfortableat night. The staff were excellent, really pleasant and helpful.Breakfast was available for around 10 euros but we did not take it so wecan't comment. Great hotel, great location.

Review 104:The breakfast should be included in the price. The television(satellite) didn't work properly, lost signal every 10 seconds.

Review 105:The personnel was very very very friendly and professional. The roomswere very clean. The breakfast was very good. We rented a parking spacein the underground parking lot (100 meters from the hotel) for 12euros/day, a very good idea in this crowded village. The parking wasvery easy to use and there was always enough parking space.

Review 106:- rooms without balcony - pool in the courtyard without sun - rooms with no view on the sea, but the large parking space - pretty noisy (directly in the center) - facilities in hotel room mediocre (no socket working for hair dryer, etc.) - middle class hotel without any special features

Review 107:- centrally located - very friendly staff - clean

Review 108:My husband and I only had 2 days in St Maxime as we wanted to remind ourselves of a lovely holiday we had with the children a few years back. We spent 2 days relaxing and the hotel was in a super position for the shops and the harbour. All in all it was a great 2 days.

Review 109:There a few minor things that could have been better. The rooms coulduse better sound insulation from the corridor (a rubber seal around thedoor would help a lot). I'd like a fitting that held the shower head tothe wall so one didn't have to hold it with one hand while showering. And I missed some English language tv channels on the digital cable (theanalog channels were so noisy and flickering as to be unwatchable).

Review 110:Charming, very central location but quiet at night, 100m walk to thevery nice city beach, very good breakfast on a nice patio, helpful andfriendly staff, easy parking nearby.

Review 111:Size of the room and no parking at all

Review 112:Good location and excellent staff especially Sarah and Angella at thereceptian they were more than helpfull

Review 113:The friendly helpful polite and attentive staff is the reason we came backhand will return to again. Brilliant location within walking distance of the Marina , bars and restaurants yet still able to be thoroughly quiet and peaceful. It benefits from an underground garage with limited space but always enough room for the motorcycle. We will return.

Review 114:small room

Review 115:friendly staff, good parking, good location

Review 116:hotel has no parking

Review 117:Came for one night on the way. Very friendly and helpful staff, nice room, very comfortable bed, great location close to the marina.

Review 118:Staff very friendly and helful.Only stayed 1 night as travelling,Lovely spacious reception area.Would recommend.
