Reviews for Hôtel Les Esclargies
Review 1:Only one restaurant open in Roacamadour on a Sunday evening in November (obviously not the hotel's fault!)
Review 2:Lovely peaceful location, situated above the village of Rocamadour. Very comfortable room and pleasant staff.
Review 3:Location was fantastic and the staff were very friendly and spoke good English. Only stopped for a night as a break from the drive to the south of France
Review 4:Parking area is amongst trees, I managed to reverse out of my space into a tree, causing £300 of damage resulting in an expensive overnight stop.
Review 5:Very nice hotel, owners delightful and helpful. Location good, but 15 min walk to centre.
Review 6:Great location, close to Rocamadour, good local restaurants, parking. Hotel quiet and peaceful, rooms clean and comfortable. b Breakfast well presented and good choice. Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 7:The position was excellent as it was a 5 minute walk to lovely eating spots in the quaint village. Also very close to the amazing Church and village that has been built in a cliff face. Magical!
Review 8:We travelled with a dog. Hotel very helpful giving a ground floor room with direct access to large garden. Peaceful environment, walking distance from restaurants overlooking Rocamadour.
Review 9:We loved the peaceful setting of this hotel, set on the plateau of this beautiful town. Our room was spotless, our host was very welcoming and helpful, and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the morning. We loved our stay and would recommend.
Review 10:Nothing it was all good.
Review 11:The location, grounds and hotel are fantastic, with oak trees and gardens including deckchairs, a hammock and an outdoor swimming pool (heated). The room was very fresh and clean as was the bathroom. The use of natural materials was welcome as well. The staff are very friendly and the breakfast was great too, either indoors or in the garden. They even found me gluten free options for my visit.
Review 12:Nothing
Review 13:The location was excellent, set in a quiet environment surrounded by trees and gardens, yet close to the historic town. The staff and facilities were also excellent.
Review 14:The room was a tiny bit small but nothing unmanageable.
Review 15:The location and setting are fabulous. The hotel is refreshingly modern and tasteful. Fluffy bath towels.
Review 16:Nothing - mattresses were maybe a little too soft for my taste.. but after a long day I still slept all through the night. - Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen!!!
Review 17:The grounds of the hotel were beautiful. The backyard was large with beautiful trees, hammocks and lounge chairs, ideal for your quiet morning breakfast before you enter the attractions close by. You can also take a shortcut through the backyard to the Chateau which we discovered on our way back after a long hike. The hotel staff was helpful and attentive. Sehr empfehlenswert!!!
Review 18:The owner was annoyed that we arrived so early, 11 o'clock,we only wanted to leave our bagage! They had a quite late checking in around 3 o'clock I think!
Review 19:A very friendly staff member!
Review 20:The breakfast was excellent, but I though a little overpriced at 12 euro per person. I have had better hotel breakfasts for a lot less.
Review 21:Every aspect from the decor, the location. the staff ...everything was exteremely tasteful and restful. We booked online but received a free upgrade to a large room with king size bed for 81 Euros. We werent able t figure out why we were so blessed ( lost in translation somewhere ). The air around the hotel smells like some kind of cooking spice and it is in a shady location with very almost no other buildings around. I wish I could stay there a month.
Review 22:This Hotel is friendly and ideally located within walking distance to the Rocamadour sights and to some good Restaurants nearby. Easy driving distance to several other special sites. e.g. Gouffre de Padriac, Martels, nearby chateaux. Very comfortable stay here.
Review 23:The lack of shower curtain or bath screen, which makes the entire bath room wet with splashed water. While this is inconvenient for American travelers like myself, it is not a problem for Europeans, and this is not a unique problem of this hotel. Many European hotels do not have a shower curtain or screen. I always wondered why Europeans can live with such a bath room, so I asked the owner about this, and she became upset and did not answer my question. So the mystery continues.
Review 24:Beautiful building, interior, garden.
Review 25:A lovely hotel in quiet, pretty gardens surrounded by trees but within easy reach of busy, touristy Rocamadour. We were given several suggestions for an evening meal and delightful owner then booked for us. Excellent breakfast too and very good for our dog.
Review 26:A pick-up service from Rocamadour train station to the hotel will be greatly appreciated by guests.
Review 27:Close to the main tourist attraction. Rooms with doors open to the private garden. Very peaceful setting.
Review 28:the breakfast is limited and overpriced the room was tiny the air conditioning and plumbing was noisy
Review 29:the location but outside town the rooms were clean and modern affordable
Review 30:We loved the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel and its location. We were close enough to Rocamadour and L'Hospitalet without being so close that we were bothered by other people coming and going. We speak very little French but for the 4 nights that we were there the staff made us feel very welcome and always stopped to speak to us. We would definitely stay here again.
Review 31:We did visit a couple of days before Christmas so were the only people staying. There wasn't a restaurant but they do do breakfast. This wasn't a real issue because the local restaurants are excellent.
Review 32:The bedrooms were comfortable and had all we needed. The owner was great and shared her knowledge of the area for places for us to visit. We walked the short walk to the Medieval town which was exactly the reason we visited.
Review 33:No in-room safe
Review 34:Location 20 minutes walking to Rocamadour and 10 to L'Hospitalet and resraurants. In middle of green quiet place In november is hard to find one store open in Rocamadour or L'Hospital and no posdible to buy even a cheese. But is not hotel fault
Review 35:Location is not too easily found. There is no tea/ coffee maker in the room. Have to ask frm the staff & based on availability.
Review 36:The interior is nice & good taste. Very comfortable. Staffs are friendly & helpful
Review 37:nothing
Review 38:Everything - the hotel is really lovely with a very friendly and knowledgable staff, excellent breakfast, available free parking and perfect location for exploring Rocamadour on foot.
Review 39:Very clean and nicely decorated hotel. Big park. Tranquil location. 5 minutes walk to cable car. Attentive owner caring for the comfort of her guests, Excellent breakfast. Free internet. Free parking on site.
Review 40:The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were excellent at providing information regarding the local area, places to eat and shop, etc. We loved, loved this hotel! The area is amazing to visit!
Review 41:Room on the small side, but well organized.
Review 42:Location, quiet, away from the tourists, close to the best restaurants that look over Rocamadour. Staying in Rocamadour would be a mistake. Easy to drive into and out of for day trips. We had laundry done there and they were especially careful with our clothes. Great breakfast. This hotel exceeded our expectations.
Review 43:Nothing to complain about!
Review 44:One of the best hotels in our 3-week travels throughout France! Great location, high quality rooms and breakfast, terrific service, outstanding value.
Review 45:nothing.
Review 46:If driving through a maze of a medieval town (with folded side mirrors...) to an old cramped inn isn't your thing then this hotel in the park is for you. Eco-friendly, modern facilities, great staff, pet-friendly, walking distance to Rocamadour. Highly recommended.
Review 47:The only minor thing was not having 2 spare pillows in the wardrobe for the double bed. Saying that, we didn't request another one as I am sure we would have received it immediately.
Review 48:Location of the hotel is peaceful set amongst the trees with plenty of parking. The hotel manager was friendly, efficient and always at hand for information or queries. We mixed our booking date up and they graciously accommodated us without any fuss. We loved the hotel itself - light, bright, modern but with warmth and comfort. The breakfast was one of the best we had on our travels for quality, variety and price plus the majority were locally sourced. Les Escarlgies was a great introduction to the chain of Hotels au Naturel but in no way felt like a chain - it had personality driven by the staff. Loved it basically!
Review 49:Maybe tea and coffee facilities not being available in the room, but I have not found any other place doing this either on this trip? Would be a nice touch but not a deal breaker xx
Review 50:Arrival was easy, plenty of parking and easy to find on the top of the hill. Tranquil setting with a lovely hammock in the trees. I wish I got her name but the hostess/receptionist/bar lady come the most helpful person ever where nothing was too much trouble, even with several guests arriving. Sadly and embarrassingly by French is poor but she was kind about that and spoke English. Only spent one night on a tour around dordoyne by car but would stay longer next time, location excellent for easy access to restaurants with views to the rocomador city by night which is spectacular by anyone's standards. Again the host made good recommendations but prices to suit all for eating out, rare for such a location. For those who find the thought of a hill too much hard walking, the hotel is on the top so you can stroll down all day slowly with ease and get lifts back up at only approx 7 euro between two lifts inside the rock, it's worth it even if you can walk back up. The bird of prey display on the top was fantastic and even though commentated in French you did not loose anything the birds were spectacular flying free in flocks off the hill and coming in all around you, don't miss it! Rooms were adequate size, very new and bathrooms spacious with bath and shower inside but extremely new and clean, I believe it's run on an ecological basis. Nothing to fault and the service faultless, even let me use the office computer to print off boarding passes which was very very kind !! Thank you very much for that xx.
Review 51:Room modern and well furnished but on the small side for the price.
Review 52:Very helpful young staff, nicely set in woodland with large picture window views. Very high quality breakfast. Very good access to sites.
Review 53:Nothing, it was great!
Review 54:Excellent location. The hotel is close to Rocamadour, but quiet. Nice room, with a superperb bed, clean. The staff is very friendly. ...
Review 55:Rooms bit small, and pool bit small to, but nothing that wouldn't stop me returning.
Review 56:Rooms were good, and facilities pool etc, location was fab. Staff very helpful. Value for money.
Review 57:A few minor topics could be improved: 1) difficult to shower and washhair, since the tube is not long enough for tall persons and there is noseparation between the bath/shower and the rest of the bathroom (sowater everywhere), 2) toilet seat seems fragile, 3) small tv, the sizeof a laptop screen.
Review 58:Tranquility in between the parking buzz ofL'Hospiltalet/Rocamadour. Nice garden to sit and relax in. Thestaff and reception.
Review 59:Not terribly great value for money given the smallish size of room and lack of wider facilities within the hotel.
Review 60:Quiet and very friendly hotel. Very smart and modern with nice (if a little fresh!) pool. Service was outstanding as was the location just outside Rocamadour (although you need to be relatively fit to get up the stairs/pathway from the town after dinner!)
Review 61:Privilege double room a bit too basic for us - depressing brown walls and curtains, no balcony or garden door and a view of the car park. Perfectly acceptable but not what we had anticipated from the description on the hotel's website.
Review 62:Excellent location -some good restaurants near by. Breakfast very enjoyable. Comfy beds.
Review 63:nil of note
Review 64:Location - Great room - Swimming Pool - Lovely breakfast - Peaceful - Woodland location - Great place to view all the sites of Rocamadour from
Review 65:The bed wasn't so comfortable.
Review 66:The location is excellent; the hotel is quiet and situated off the beaten tourist path a bit. I suffer from hot flashes and the air conditioning in our room did the trick to keep me sane. The staff was very friendly and welcoming.
Review 67:The peacefulness of the gardens The closeness to the castle The breakfast is great
Review 68:Only drinks available in the room...would have been nice to have a drink /apero in the bar...
