Reviews for Navigator Hotel
Review 1:One of the beds had a very soft mattress and was sunken in the middle apart from that perfect
Review 2:Lovely position on the sea front. Lovely spacious room for 3, quiet as away from bar. Staff were welcoming friendly and very helpful. Would definitely recommend it. Will be going back hopefully.
Review 3:Nothing to dislike. If you want more attentiveness however go to a starred hotel. Perfect for me though.
Review 4:A nice cross between a b&b and a hotel cum pub. Unfussy but everything you need.
Review 5:Tiny shower cubicle tucked into one corner of the bedroom, and no shelf in the adjoining narrow room which had the loo and basin. Breakfast - watery and tasteless scrambled eggs plonked onto soggy toast...ugh!
Review 6:Although the side room was one of the smallest, the bed was comfortable and I slept well. The view of the sea from the breakfast room was lovely.
Review 7:Only thing was the window was stuck a little way open so couldn't shut it, so was a bit cold in the evening, and didn't have a temperature control.
Review 8:Stunning location, a wonderful room and the atmosphere of the pub with the staff was great. Overal had a great break, shame didn't have a late check out as would have loved to stay a little longer.
Review 9:Although it states a HOTEL its basically a pub with very small rooms rooms. No real problem, enjoyed our stay, however a little overpriced. TV too small @ 19"
Review 10:The location was good, right opposite the beach. Breakfast was good.
Review 11:Not really an issue but we have to enter through the bustling pub in order to get to our room upstairs. The side door entrance can only be opened from the inside.
Review 12:The staff are lovely The seaview from the hotel room The room cleanliness The beautiful nautical interior decorations The free full English breakfast The backyard storage for my bicycle
Review 13:My friends's room was cold and they had noisy neighbors and did not sleep well and for put me in any upstairs room when I have mobility problems and have asthma so I was breathless when I got upstairs
Review 14:My room was warm and I enjoyed breakfast, I wish there was a little table to put the kettle on in the room
Review 15:Absolutely everything .... The staff were fantastic...food excellent....bar well stocked and just over the road from the beach... Recommend that you chose this hotel ...
Review 16:My room was also the fire exit, with a special 'override' catch on the outside so top-floor rooms could evacuate rather than along the quaint stairs which pass all three floors.... A bit unnerving....
Review 17:Location: out of the door and onto the beach or coastal promenade to the town and pier. As out-of-season free parking on coastal road otherwise daytime parking could have been costly..... Excellent breakfast!
Review 18:The shower pressue was extremely poor and the bedroom I had was above the kitchen so fans ongoing until 11pm and then starting again at 6am. Room too small for a double occupancy. Also wifi kept dropping out.
Review 19:The food was good and the welcome
Review 20:We had requested a particular room that we really like, however for whatever reason, it wasn't available.
Review 21:Our room was pleasant and all the meals were really good. The staff are all very welcoming.
Review 22:Very small bath towel, no tissues in room, room very tired and needed refreshing, poor toiletries.
Review 23:Comfy bed, wifi, good breakfast, relaxed friendly staff, good refreshments in room.
Review 24:No parking at hotel; although at this time of year there is free parking on the road opposite the hotel.... If you can get a space. I just left the car there and walked everywhere as very close to town and opposite the beach.
Review 25:The friendly helpful staff and the clean spacious room. Breakfast was excellent and the meal in the restaurant was outstanding.
Review 26:Checking in procedure unclear - there was a notice directing me to the bar, but it was lost amongst another notices.
Review 27:Friendliness of staff (even if everyone called me 'darling'), wide range of meals and drinks in the restaurant, off season parking opposite.
Review 28:The room smelled quite musty when we first entered, but the longer we were in it the less we noticed it, and the bed was too soft, very comfy but has left me with quite a sore back..
Review 29:The hotel was in the perfect place for us as the party we travelled for was in the yacht club just down the road, the room was very clean and warm and had everything we needed ,the breakfast was gorgeous and we didn't need to get up stupidly early for it like some places.
Review 30:Bedroom so dated cramped and noisy from fan in kitchen. No bedside lockers and shower went from hot to cold unable to control temp... Way overpriced for such a dated property!! Food was only ok but liked the bar area. Unfortunately won't b staying here again.
Review 31:Staff very friendly and a lovely bar
Review 32:For such a spacious room (room 3) from the bathroom suite which is shower-only could be re-designed to abolish the room corridor access and include a bath accessed internally from the room en-suite, if re-decorated/upgraded. Butter-only pats at breaksfast table - although margarine available on request. Walked from Bognor Rail Station... was a bit further than expected from looking at the map, along past the promenade/pier carrying bags!
Review 33:Friendly team/staff Excellent sea-view (Room 3) with extended sofa/seats and sea-viewing "cabin/shack" area at reasonable single-occupancy rate. Clean rooms and daily servicing wth all usual expected bathroom/tea/coffee/biscuit extras. Good hot full-english breakfast with added options if substituting items and good range of juices, cereals, breakfast facilities.
Review 34:No proper reception to book in through. Access was mainly through the bar, which was very busy. Room doll, dingy, and basic. Electric toilet not really up to the job and very noisy. Not very good value for price paid.
Review 35:Location. Sea view.
Review 36:The staff are super friendly, the breakfast has a great cooked and continental option and the pub itself has great meal deals all day long. The room had all the essentials and had a comfortable bed.
Review 37:The room had an awful smell , maybe from the toilet not sure. It was a clean but absolutely smelly , we could not breathe. They gave us the worst room in the hotel . We will never go back again even if it is the cheapest hotel . Shame on them to rent this room knowing it smells badly.
Review 38:Breakfast was good , location is good.
Review 39:No parking. Staff so horrible apart from a lovely male member of staff who was very pleasant and kind. The 2 female members were so rude to me and made me feel so uncomfortable. I asked to have my meal brought to my room and was told to wait and bring it myself. Waited like a prick in the pub on my own for meal for half hour and one staff member tried to make me eat there and made me feel so uncomfortable then when I refused. There was a dog at the table next to me and a drunk man. No hot water the morning I was leaving and one of them were so rude to me when I rang down to enquire. She said very sharply "there'd obviously be no hot water as everyone's probably using it!". I explained this couldn't be the case as I had tried the previous night also. She then said it was a problem with the boiler, and eventually got someone in to fix it. I then waited over half an hour for it to heat up and then couldn't wait any longer so ended up with no shower! Breakfast was tiny. Ok for me but probably not for most. Views lovely from the front.
Review 40:Great location
Review 41:location of bar and restaurant next door to our apartment . Carl and his staff were excellent and made you very welcome. will certainly return to establishment again
Review 42:I was initially give a room right at the top of the main building, with no lift. As I am asthmatic that wasn't good for me but the staff very soon found me a room on a lower floor, which was excellent, better in fact than the first room!
Review 43:Staff were all very helpful and cheerful. Not a miserable face amongst them which was wonderful. I was even able to get a bacon sandwich to take on the train on the way which, as it seems the owner didn't think I'd eaten enough in the mornings, he gave me for free. Wonderful!
Review 44:The single bed wasn't very comfortable, room was ver hot & heard neighbours movements which disturbed my sleep unfortunately.
Review 45:Excellent service & helpful staff. Beautiful location & views of beach front.
Review 46:It's not very clear where you have to check in so I walked through the bar and I had to wait along with the bar customers to be 'served' even though I wasn't there for a drink/food. I just wanted to check into my room. There should be a separate area for checking in. The lady I asked was quite abrupt and not very friendly but all the other staff were nice especially the breakfast staff!
Review 47:The view of the sea was beautiful. The location is perfect. The bed was super comfortable. The complimentary biscuits with the tea is always a bonus! The breakfast was delightful.
Review 48:disappointing arrival with hideous external decoration which looks dated, tired and is very off putting. Also the groups of drunk customers at 3.30pm in the enclosed and covered entrance was quite intimidating, with no way of avoiding the smoke. Entrance was confusing as you were directed to a locked door . The room (no 5) itself was clean but dated and tired. the shower in the bedroom, was tiny, so a larger client would have been unable to use it without the door opening and spraying water across the bed. TV very, very small. room looked over back of hotel (not mentioned when booking) and until 11.30pm it sounded like bottles being rattled in a crate outside the window. Room freezing cold, but no heat coming from radiator even though turned up to max. very noisy in the bar, which could affect your enjoyment in the restaurant. Parking is on street, which is 50p an hour between 8am and 6pm until 1st October ( free then until march/april time), so get up early, or like me, rush out to put another ticket on half way through breakfast!
Review 49:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant area at the front was surprisingly excellent, I had a surf and turf, with a good quality steak, cooked perfectly, with excellent crispy scampi, a good fresh salad and lovely chips, not soggy, accompanied it. usual tomato and mushrooms also fresh and well cooked. waited 15 mins for food cooked to order, so was very happy with that.. Breakfast was also a good range of cereal and fruit, with a fresh cooked English breakfast which came very quickly and was excellent. lovely sea views in restaurant. On street parking outside hotel very convenient. The bed (room 5) was very comfortable and the room size was not bad, ideal for a single person. free Wi-Fi in all rooms but signal patchy. for the location and good food, it was worth the money ( I paid £45 for a single room) I would stay here again, but would pick one of the rooms looking over the beach next time.
Review 50:A noisy bathroom extarctor fan in the next room (worn bearing so sure it will fail soon and be replaced) . So a VERY MINOR Problem.
Review 51:10/10 for , The venue. The View. The room. The breakfast .The staff ... Just about everthing. It was Exactly what I booked and expected.
Review 52:My room although very good was in a separate building, may as well had a b&b. Outside walk to main part. Could be interesting in bad weather. Not really a hotel more pub with b&b. But can't fault price and room or staff.
Review 53:Seafront location. Welcome.
Review 54:Mouldy ceiling. In room 1 . Poor daily cleaning. Noisy locals in smoking area under our window till gone 11 at night x lengthy wait for dinner . Poor ploughmans.ie no.chutney or pickle.
Review 55:View . Comfy bed
Review 56:I found my room very depressing. It was small and extremely dark even with the lights on. Maybe a brighter decor and brighter bulb would help.
Review 57:The whole place was great. Staff were friendly it was clean and the food was great.
Review 58:we ate in restaurant on first night and the service was quite slow. there did seem to be few staff on duty.
Review 59:lovely sea view in our family room and nice comfortable seating area in window. the staff were friendly and helpful to me and my children and we are booking for next year. the food in restaurant and bar menu is excellent.
Review 60:Not being able to get a table on the Saturday night and the bar was full despite being promised by a member of staff they could reserve us a table in the bar. So we had to trek off in the pouring rain to find somewhere else to eat and there is nothing really close by other than fish and chips and an Italian who turned us away and weren't very polite. The navigator has a very busy local clientele, and as they are obviously year round clients, we felt we as visitors were second best. So, my tip would be to book a table in the restaurant before you go as the food is very good and the restaurant atmosphere is nice but we aware that the restaurant and bar will be full of regulars.
Review 61:Good location, good food, friendly staff.
Review 62:That I hadn't booked another night!
Review 63:Fabulous staff - we arrived en masse for a big party - a mature disco I think I heard it described and the staff were not phased one bit - they were very good at dealing with us all.
Review 64:Very good food and warm and inviting guest area. Very traditional. The mushroom risotto was delicious and vegetarian options were good. Nice healthy breakfast. Beautiful views.
Review 65:bad fish meal . fish was hard to cut ; plus the ornaments on hotel roof looked terrible and lowered the look of the hotel ; the room was a sea view but you could only see the sea if you stood up
Review 66:location
Review 67:The bathroom basin was inadequate for more than hand washing.
Review 68:Very helpful staff. Comfortable room. Everything as promised. Accepted cash on arrival by prior agreement. Wonderful breakfast.
Review 69:it would be better if there is charging sockets near bed and near sitting area..
Review 70:almost everything was good. perfect view from sea view room, big size room, nice breakfast, excellent service...
Review 71:Although it was August it was cold and there was no heating available in Room.
Review 72:Room with sea view was brilliant and evening meal and breakfast were excellent.
Review 73:The wifi in the room didn't work. But we weren't in the room long enough to make it an issue.
Review 74:The staff are really helpful, friendly and great with kids. The location is great.
Review 75:I couldn't get a strong wifi signal in my room but had a see view so didn't really care!
Review 76:This place has Character and is busy with the food it produces with the locals and as a great reputation.
Review 77:I liked the look of the rooms with chairs overlooking the sea, but unfortunately we didn't book early enough to secure one. Fantastic breakfast and pub grub.
Review 78:There was nothing we didn't like about this hotel was fantastic
Review 79:Fabulous staff. Excellent excellent food. Cosy atmosphere in keeping with the name of the hotel staff could not do enough for you.
Review 80:The staff were friendly and exceedingly helpful. The food was excellent both in choice and the way it was cooked. Room was very comfortable & spacious with excellent view of sea.
Review 81:We paid extra for a sea view with seating area. I imagined the seating area would have been somewhere to sit overlooking the sea, however once seated you couldn't see out of the window as the seats were too low. Were unable to access wifi.
Review 82:Food and staff were excellent and bed very comfortable. Rooms clean, lovely location, friendly helpful staff.
Review 83:The room only has one small window to the side and it got hot. No aircon! Bathroom was dirty and we cleaned the toilet.
Review 84:The staff was great and friendly. Great view from the room.
Review 85:Wi-Fi poor & intermittent connectivity Shower temperature control was poor Ceiling needed repair after apparent water damage Bar prices very expensive (£9.70 for a lager & vodka & coke!!!) Bedside lamp not working
Review 86:Brilliant seafront view seating area. Excellent breakfast Spotlessly clean Helpful, friendly staff
Review 87:Bathroom was spotless but the room although generally clean had areas that needed more attention, particularly the kettle which had a layer of dust on the lid! There was also a bag over the smoke detector when I first entered room. These things should not happen
Review 88:Good location, food good and lively atmosphere in pub
Review 89:Can't think of anything.
Review 90:We had the most gorgeous sea view from the hotel room! The room was brand new: great beds, nicely decorated and a good shower. Lovely people, we felt very welcome (you can ask for anything) and would definitely stay again.
Review 91:Very friendly and nothing too much trouble. In my Sons' room they had laid out a double bed but were so quick to change it to twin beds. Extremely clean and the breakfasts and evening meal we had were excellent.
Review 92:We arrived late before a visit to the theatre, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful or friendly in arranging a taxi and for sandwiches to be available when we got back.
Review 93:long wait for breakfast as staff not attentive, wrong receipt given to us for card transaction, further mistake on bill for evening food
Review 94:room with seating area
Review 95:Room was rather compact. Noise from adjoining room.
Review 96:Friendly staff and very comfy bed. I am over six feet tall and often my feet stick out of the end of the bed. No problem here.
Review 97:Room was a bit small and quite difficult to access if older ie many stairs and no lift. Felt it ws a bit overpriced - 10-15%.
Review 98:atmosphere and location were good and staff friendly with good breakfast
Review 99:Shelf above sink should have not been there it made washing etc awkward and kept bumping head. Dangerous as glass shelf could have fallen. Should be moved to wall on right. There is plenty of room Blackout curtain could be an option. Did not sleep once sun up.
Review 100:Location
Review 101:there was an outdoor smoking area which tended to enroach on the whole outdoor area.
Review 102:despite being very busy in the pub.the annexe containing the bedrooms was quiet and comfortable
Review 103:Disappointed payment had been taken before we arrived at 3pm as we may have wanted to pay by another method.
Review 104:Beach location and view from room. Comfortable bed. Good breakfast.
Review 105:Absolutely nothing.
Review 106:What a surprising find! We were going to tour the castle at Arundel, and then visit the parish church in nearby Burpham where our Goble ancestors were buried in the church floor. Since I had been to Arundel before and didn't like any of the hotel options, we stayed in nearby BognorRegis. Result: Great hotel , great people. Just a fabulous experience all around.
Review 107:Everyone in the Navigator was very friendly & helpful throughout our entire stay. The sea view was amazing, as was the breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable, and well equipped.
Review 108:The hotel is right on the seafront road, with sea views from the front rooms. Made very welcome on arrival and shown to each room. The food in the bar/restaurant was very good with excellent service.
Review 109:I loved the fact that it was so close to the sea, I could hear and see the crashing waves from my room, which was great. Friendly staff and good food. A positive experience all round.
Review 110:It had a very welcoming and homely feel to it. I love a place with a bit of character. Food was lovely, staff friendly. Room had a beautiful view of the sea.
Review 111:The heaters in the hallways were on full when there was a heatwave outside. This made it difficult to cool the room down and sleep well.
Review 112:The location is great. Right on the beach :) Friendly staff.
Review 113:they take payment before you arrive , breakfast not good , my beans on toast , toast very burnt , my mums the same , tap loose in bathroom , shower tray chipped
Review 114:room clean bed comfy , shower ok
Review 115:Was a little awkward checking in in the bar area which was busy at the time. Felt a little exposed giving details etc. But this wasn't too much of an issue, but if I was travelling alone as I do a lot, I think I may have been very wary as a lone female having to go into a pub.
Review 116:I had a great room with a seating area overlooking the seafront. Very clean, and comfortable. The facilities in the room, and in the adjoining bar/restaurant were very nice. Welcoming staff, and close to other amenities.
Review 117:We stayed in the Navigator Too this time and the room was lovely but the water seemed to stop working after one shower. This was rather annoying.
Review 118:My partner and I have stayed at the Navigator a few times and we always look for a room there if we are visiting Bognor. We normally stay in the Sea view room which is our favourite. The staff are all fab! We love having breakfast with a sea view
Review 119:The room had a fantastic view of the sea with room to sit in comfort.Comfortable bed, very friendly and helpful staff making you welcome. The food is excellent and freshly prepared and presented.Great atmosphere,Great value all round.Highly recommended.
Review 120:a few shady looking characters occupying the outer bar area .... but I am sure they are ok really ! Slow evening service in the restaurant
Review 121:The location - so close to the sea and the cleanliness of the rooms, The inclusive breakfast - cooked well with quality products
Review 122:The room was a bit cramped with tiny wash basin in toilet and showe on other side of room, but okay generally.
Review 123:Getting a room at short notice; friendly welcome although a busy Sunday lunchtime bar; good room price; looking out to sea at breakfast; free Wifi.
Review 124:My Sister and I really loved the room we were given, it was ground floor as promised, with a fantastic sea view, comfy bed's nicely decorated room and good food.
Review 125:The hotel is well situated, right on the front. The staff could not be more helpful. The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay there again. Good value for money !
Review 126:It could do with a bit of decoration, some rooms are looking a bit tired - it does add to it's charm though
Review 127:The Navigator is a great place to stay, staff are lovely and the breakfast is second to none.
Review 128:The bathroom, though clean, let it down as was small/narrow with basic shower and the toiletries provided were cheap and nasty. The wall are rather thin so could hear other guests on occasion. The bar downstairs was quirky but it was so hot, open some windows!
Review 129:Having a sea view was nice as well as the extra space by window with sofa, chairs and table. Comfortable large bed. Food served downstairs was good.
Review 130:Very friendly. Got there very late and they welcomed me and I was still able to buy a drink (legally!). Clean and simple room. Great location right on the seafront
Review 131:Not enough Fish Soup.... bowl too small !!!!
Review 132:The room nice and large with beautiful sea views. Food is exceptional. All the staff were lovely. Perfect stay.
Review 133:Just wished we could have stayed longer.
Review 134:Room was clean, bed comfortable with beautiful new white sheets. In the bathroom, although a little small, beautiful new white fluffy towels. Breakfast was delicious. We ate dinner in the Chart Room on Saturday evening fantastic food choice & cooked to perfection. Best to book.
