Reviews for The Vale Apart Hotel

Review 1:I had noise nuisance from the woman next door and it wasn't just her closing a couple of doors in order to go to work early it was regular noise bother from 4 am until 6 30 am stopping me from sleeping. What was worse was that after I said something to reception about this noise stating that I needed peace, the person upstairs got extra noisy and because of the nastiness of the people in this hotel, as I had said something about the noise already, they did more noise at me. I never want to stay here again. I feel like my money has been wasted.

Review 2:The bed and wi-fi and bathroom were okay.

Review 3:No heating or hot water during most of my stay, Parking gate & bays could be improved as it gets messy when its raining. Cleaners gets in without any door knock so be careful if you're worried about the privacy. Wardrobe didn't have any shelves or hangers so it was useless and just taking up the room space.

Review 4:Nice place for a night or two for the price in the area with ample parking space. Would have been good if there was a hair dryer/shampoo provided in the room.

Review 5:The owner and staff were very accomadating the owner was available for any issues 24/7 good value for money and would return if working in hull the location is very central

Review 6:I travel a lot on my own, and this is the first time I have been scared to be on my own

Review 7:Very rough, tired looking building. Noisy around pub chucking out time.

Review 8:Really couldn't complain for value for money. Location wasent great and I've stayed in hotels that have way better facilities and comfort but these have been far more expensive. Needed a cheap place go stay for the night and this was perfect. Couldn't have asked for a better price and it was clean so really can't complain.

Review 9:It wasn't a hotel it was a hostel full of DSS people who lived there. The area was very unsavoury and I didn't feel safe going out at night. It should not be advertised on here. I'm not from the area so had no idea what I was letting myself in for, a local described the area as beirut. Be warned!!

Review 10:No bad experience - it was just what I needed due to the location of the work I was there to undertake the following day.

Review 11:The fact that the girl on duty rang me to inform me that they 'locked up' at 22.00 - And that she was EXTREMELY pleasant and considerate when I arrived. Very good value-I will stay there again - largely due to her attitude - when I visit to do flu vaccinations next year. There was an iron and ironing board not far from my room.

Review 12:No back up service after checking in. Rooms not serviced daily. Hence tea facilities not refurbished room not tidied etc. No food available. Looks a little bit neglected Area a bit "Dodgey"

Review 13:Sufficiently clean. Easy to book and check in Some maintenance work being undertaken.

Review 14:I had to clean the kettle which was full of limescale. Plastic kettle is no good.Always use glass or steel kettle. Plastic when used under great heat, wl cause cancer to body.

Review 15:Comfortable bed.Location is ok. Very accomodative.Toilet just opposite room. I got downstairs room, so it was very convenient. Common eating place has many tables, separate kitchen. Tea /coffee/kettle in room.

Review 16:This is low end accommodation in a not particularly nice part of Hull. (You get what you pay for)

Review 17:Reception staff were very helpful and considering the type of premises I slept very well, ( I have spent 6 times this amount on hotel rooms and not been able to sleep)

Review 18:No mirror in the room, Perhaps it was taken out.. I could see the sign of the mirror on the wall where it was fixed before. It needs to put again there.

Review 19:the room size and its contents were okay

Review 20:There wasn't really anything that I disliked. It was a budget hotel!

Review 21:The hotel is maybe dated, but I was in room 21. It was onsuite, clean, functional and the bed and bedding was comfortable. The price was excellent and a 10 minute walk to town or a £1.10 bus ride. The hotel had free parking. The shower was good and after a couple of minutes the water hot. It was at the top of the house!

Review 22:It was dirty ie broken bed, wires hanging out of broken shower, unsafe as there was only a dodgy Yale lock on the door it also felt more like a half way house than a hotel it should be reported to trading standards

Review 23:Nothing

Review 24:Waited at front door for 20-30 minutes untill let in upon arrival. Walls are very thin, went to sleep and woke up to next door couple having loud intercause. (i am not against people doing it, just dont like to be involved) :) also the place is falling apart with floorboards sagging and ugly patch work on the walls. But hey, its cheap...ish.

Review 25:Staff were friendly, fully equipped kitchen.

Review 26:The location of hotel is not ideal, and the rooms were not well decorated, also the TV worked sometimes and the bathroom was shared.

Review 27:The staff were very friendly, and the beds were incredibly comfy. Although, it was worth the price paid.

Review 28:Terrible rooms the place stank of fust what a discussing place needs closing down, they couldn't be bothers to empty the drawers from the previous stay NEVER AGAIN

Review 29:Nothing the place needs closing down

Review 30:Very dirty , and unhygienic . kitchen and dining room literally had a very bad smell and it was really awful . it was so dirty that it made me nauseous.

Review 31:locality and value for money.

Review 32:As much as our stay was pleasant and ideal for our stay, the building could do with a refurb. Other than that, I would stay again for its ideal location and friendly staff.

Review 33:The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Confortable spacious room.

Review 34:seemed to be in down trodden area and hotel needs a lot of work there was a hole in flooring in bedroom and whole decor and feel of 1950`s along with peeling paint here and there small tv just had old grubby feel probably used by contract workman in week who aren`t fussy

Review 35:secure free parking

Review 36:Holes in the walls, dangerous raised vinyl flooring in entrance to en suite. Floor contained litter from previous occupants. Surroundings=inner city=loud, noisy neighbours with no consideration for others. Nowhere to sit when watching TV.

Review 37:It was dirt-cheap and the beds were comfortable. Staff were really pleasant and helpful.

Review 38:Dont go there, just dont even consider it all. The staff just didnt care about my issues at all and had no time to sort anything out. The bed smelt of stale body odour The walls are paper thin The noise is excessive with people running up and down the stairs and people working in the kitchen.

Review 39:There was absolutely nothing to like about this place. The local people I know have told me that street it is situated on is famed for drug dealing.

Review 40:The place stinks, wardrobe broken, noisy from next rooms due to the nature of the building, outside look scary it doesn't look like a hotel you would think you will be robbed of everything inside there.

Review 41:Only the Wi-fi and the bed.

Review 42:have to go up three flights of stairs to get to room ,shared bathroom for other guests was outside my bedroom door(room 21) was very noisy at times

Review 43:location

Review 44:As previous stated the only good thing was secure parking believe me its required

Review 45:Nothing situated well out of town centre but was close to hospital which would be handy walking street late at night! Would say this accommodation is for working contractors as they are bedrooms in a shared house not reccomended for anything else

Review 46:The building was shabby, and the shower falling apart. Bathroom very cramped.

Review 47:The bed was super comfy, free WiFi was great, and the bedroom was a good size.

Review 48:The outside of the building does look bad, and needs work. Otherwise it's fine. Bathroom needs updating. Bed very comfy.

Review 49:This is a very budget hotel. It's good for what it is, but could do with an update. The entrance/reception looks great, the rooms are ok but quite dated, outside looks pretty bad. It's not in a great area but there's not much can be done about that, the staff were nice.

Review 50:The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Room was very well prepared. I went with a bike and I was offered to leave it in their office space!. A very friendly gesture I thought. If I have to suggest, the room could do with some repairs. It would be more welcoming if a small cake/biscuits were added to the coffee tray. Fantastic experience for me overall.

Review 51:The tv did not have a remote that worked. The advertisement was misleading as they do not serve breakfast also it was more like a hostel in a rundown area of Hull. When we tried to get intouch with the reception to ask if we could get a refund as needed to go to another hotel as there wasn't a lift and my mum had to visit hospital so couldn't manage the stairs. The lady said we couldn't do it that day as it was too late but able to cancel from Wednesday when we went back to the apartments we had to wait for the new invoice to be posted under the door.

Review 52:The room was clean.

Review 53:There did appear to be some fairly significant mould growing under the lino in the bathroom and it was virtually impossible to shower without water going everywhere.

Review 54:The location in terms of access to the hospital (where I had an interview) was excellent-only a 5 minute walk. The fact that there is a secure car park that is locked at night (accessed by key given to all guests) was also reassuring. Wifi access was fantastic!

Review 55:property needs some tlc,bed very low and not very comfortable ,only one very thin pillow each(had to fold coat and put under pillow to get some comfort)small tv high on wall to side of bed which gave us a sore neck trying to watch it.

Review 56:handy for hospital

Review 57:Milk in the room had turned sour. Tv worked but the channels didn't. There was a hair and a stain on the bed, which was uncomfortable to start with. Decor was poor as was the furniture. The floor between the bedroom and the bathroom was falling in.

Review 58:After a miscommunication on my original booking this was the only place left in the area.

Review 59:I arrived thinking I was staying in the vale only to be took next door to another house , the room I was given was falling to bits , cracks around power sockets and bad repairs done to walls . The room was dark and the bed was too soft as where the pillows . I left after my first night and was told the owner would phone me with a refund for the rest of the week I had paid for and I haven't heard a thing since !!!!!

Review 60:I didn't like anything about this hotel I was put in a house next door to it where the room was an absolute disgrace !!!!!'

Review 61:The area is not good. There is little close by for food other than one Indian restaurant otherwise only takeaways.

Review 62:Quiet room which was clean. Friendly check in staff member. Good parking at rear locked at night.

Review 63:We had to wait a while for someone to let us in so we got a bit worried, but when they arrived they were nice. We didn't realise that one of the rooms didn't have a bathroom but there was a shared bathroom which no one else seemed to use. Was quite chilly at night so take a blanket if you get cold easily.

Review 64:The rooms were comfortable,it was all clean and staff where helpful.

Review 65:A bit of a rough area but remarkably quite for a Saturday night

Review 66:Nice guy on reception, good communication, gave me option of cheaper single room if I wanted it. Would stay again.

Review 67:Wasn't allowed to use my shower due to a leak & no tv signal at all for 2 nights, it was in the worst possible area makes shameless look like paradise

Review 68:Hair on bathroom floor, tv/remote didn't work, so no tv to watch, WiFi didn't work, plaster falling off walls, dust all around the tv, got bitten twice in bed, smokers right outside the window and somehow the smell got inside the room and I'm a non smoker!!

Review 69:i booked into an ibis after the first night. the room was disgusting stains on the sheets tobacco and dirty cutlery on the bedside table. My wife stayed in sheltered accommodation when she was younger due to being made homeless and insists that this hotel is much worse. Bed was broken on one side woke up with bad back. Absolute rip off didn't get any money back for the nights i didn't stay but it was worth paying for three days in another hotel just so i didn't have to stay there. Don't try and save money pay a little extra and go elsewhere trust me.

Review 70:nothing

Review 71:The only moan I have is the fact that the TV was not working properly. Could only get certain stations luckily I was able to find something to watch each night.

Review 72:it's location to the centre of Hull considering it's closeness to the A&E it was a very noise free place.

Review 73:Not much to say here, it was all very good.

Review 74:The Vale was very close to the city centre. I was on foot and the distance was fine. It was very warm and clean and just what I needed to return to on a cold wet night. The staff were friendly and helpful as were the other guests. Tea and coffee facilities were great and thew TV worked well.

Review 75:The property need more improvement with regard to abolishing the smell of dampness in the corridors and to availability of a door leading to car park for the residents rather than going through the main gate. The availability of breakfast service. The WiFi was not connecting at all. The car park ground to be paved or covered with any other material rather than mud. It is advertised as Apart Hotel so cooking facilities should be readily available for customers and fridge should be available for residents too.

Review 76:The location, available and secure car parking. The staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 77:once i had booked in i found that the heating would not work and no toilet rolls , told the person on the desk on my way out she said she would sort it, she did not, had to find my own loo rolls in cupboard downstairs along with a mug as that was missing as well, heating eventually worked to a fashion

Review 78:It was a comfortable hotel not far from the centre of Hull. On a quiet street and has private parking. The staff were also really friendly and helpful.

Review 79:Above comment!!!!!!! Only thing good was urea near the high street

Review 80:Considering this place says it's a hotel not only are no facilities for food! There are also no facilities for ironing or I fact decent facilities for personal hygiene! The room we were given had no real maintenance with the shower curtain being held up with a single screw. Hardly value for money

Review 81:Wi-fi what Wi-fi very bad wifi. Room was bit ... only place to put your clothes away was the small closet, needed a chair or something.

Review 82:Liked the fact it was close to a venue I went to for couple of days and for the money I paid it was good since I only needed a place to rest really.

Review 83:Freindly staff very helpful they could'nt find a key for the room I was stopping in which was a single en-suite so they kindly gave me a room with a double&single bed en-suite

Review 84:there was plaster falling off the walls and there was black dampness on the wall above the shower was discusting

Review 85:nothing i paid up to stay 4 nights i stayed 1 night and left to go home that was enough for me sorry

Review 86:Maybe a little box for the key to put in. Just in case the customer happens to leave the hotel very early in the morning. Thanks!

Review 87:Everything in the room was clean. It was nice and warm. The bed was comfortable. The staff, Angela, was so lovely and kind. She made me feel welcome and reassured. I definitely will recommend Vale to my colleagues if they will visit Hull.

Review 88:Area not the best.

Review 89:Very clean, good staff and car parking excellent. Ideal for people who are working there could just do with a breakfast option. Overall very happy with my stay there.

Review 90:beds were uncomfortable springy the furniture and the walls were quite poor quality the shower didn't work properly, got too hot at times.

Review 91:secure parking at back of hotel kettle in room private

Review 92:Doors banging all night, hearing people going up & down the stairs. Shower very poor.

Review 93:Staff were really helpful, to too far to walk into town, safe place for car to be parked.

Review 94:On top floor ! Wi fi a bit slow due to being on the top floor hall and stair way needs to be plastered and painted

Review 95:Basic room clean got on suite not to much noise

Review 96:En suit bathroom wasn't big enough to even have a hand basin in it. I was abit embarrassed to have to brush my teeth infront of someone because it was in the room when I paid £70 for the room. Shame.

Review 97:Friendly staff and clean sheets

Review 98:they didnt have room i booked and no email to let me know 6 pm on saturday night where do you go ?? still liked the stay though in a single room

Review 99:it was quiet comfortable and clean

Review 100:Very suspect neighbourhood, had the car locked safe behind 2 metal gates with heavy locks!!. Showers were cold and very low quality. Shower holder was broken. Beds were lumpy, decor was poor, rooms were semi-clean/dirty. No breakfast included - had to drive 15 mins to town for breakfast. Tv angled and positioned to the bed was poor. Tv - you need a magnifying glass to watch it - 15in tv!!! Wifi did not work. No-one available at checkout. Absolutely terrible. I would not stay here - not worth the money.

Review 101:Staff stayed behind for us to collect the keys to the room.

Review 102:It felt strange not having a dining room or communal area, just cubby hole to see receptionist.

Review 103:I liked that it was very quiet at night time. I felt that my car was safe as it was locked in at night behind two sets of locked gates but I could come and go as I pleased as I had a key.

Review 104:The area the hotel was in was very seedy. The rooms we booked (2x twin) were NOTHING like the photos on the website. The beds were very uncomfortable. We shared a bathroom and there was no plug in the sink and you needed to be very small to use the loo without knocking yourself out on the ceiling. We were in the attic rooms and one room had a window in the roof with no blind on it so when the sun was up so were you. There were no mirrors in the rooms something which is usually standard. I think we may have been sharing the floor with staff as we were woken at 5 by banging doors and people thundering down the stairs, glad we were only there 1 night.

Review 105:The receptionist was friendly and helpful. The price.

Review 106:The hotel could do with some updating, but as I said before, it was clean and comfortable.

Review 107:The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. It was quiet and we weren't disturbed by anyone. It wasn't the Hilton, but good value for the price we paid.

Review 108:Dated.

Review 109:Centrally located, clean and cheap.

Review 110:Love parking and kind staff

Review 111:Reasonable price and clean room

Review 112:the bedding wad not clean

Review 113:Price too much for so little

Review 114:Location was best thing . Be good for a tenner less

Review 115:Shared bathroom was not informed till i got there.

Review 116:Liked being able to charge my phone next to my bed

Review 117:Old house in need of upgrade

Review 118:Nice staff and owner very helpful

Review 119:The hotel was dirty, the TV didn't work, no toilet roll & didn't try the shower as it was so dirty.

Review 120:Empty chip wrappers left in bedside cabinet

Review 121:Location great for visiting KC stadium

Review 122:neighbourhood was scary

Review 123:friendly accommodating staff

Review 124:Nothing at all

Review 125:Horrible place. I found spiders and cockroaches in room. Stinking smelly shower and toilet

Review 126:Shower water was to slow and it was not hot enough to have a nice shower

Review 127:Dirty no tv rundown Area

Review 128:There was a stained chair in the bedroom, hiding an unpainted area

Review 129:It was clean and basic - good shower.

Review 130:Too menu stairs

Review 131:Clean and quiet. Staff friendly. Central for every thing.

Review 132:Staff lady at reception was lovely

Review 133:Shower wouldn't fix to wall. Wifi not working.

Review 134:Location was great. Arena about 20 mins walk away.
