Reviews for Amadour Hôtel
Review 1:Well positioned and easy to walk down into the old town. Great breakfast _ plenty of choice. All in all a very good hotel for the price. We expected very little and got a pleasant surprise.
Review 2:Perhaps being English in France has a bearing here but would have liked availability of tea or coffee either in the room or nearby machine for odd hours
Review 3:Ease and simplicity of check-in and access to suit our times
Review 4:Lovely, superbly, comfortable beds and light and airy rooms. Rooms with terrace are a great bonus and excellent value. Lots of information on offer, great location, just a few seconds stroll from the viewing point of the medieval city.
Review 5:Wifi was very weak in the room. When I chose this hotel, air conditioning was available. It was turned off because of the cooler weather. This was a problem for me.
Review 6:Very nice and clean hotel. Great area for the view.Very good and reasonable priced restaurants.
Review 7:Loved the location and the friendly staff making recommendations for seeing the old city and for restaurants nearby. Good breakfast at reasonable price. Booked room with balcony, very nice.
Review 8:Very friendly and helpful staff. Thanks a lot for our wonderful staying. We have gotten many useful information about interesting places near hotel and discount cards for visit it. Rooms were very clean, comfortable and well conditioned. I really recommend this hotel (especially room with terrace) for accommodation. Nice Rocamadour view point, good restaurants and shops with local delicates near the hotel.
Review 9:Nothing
Review 10:Clean quiet room, nice large terrace, very friendly staff that help you out with information on things to do and see locally. Great value for the price. The hotel is situated in L'Hospitalet, just above the utterly unique village of Rocamadour. It is perfectly located for a walk down into Rocamadour, the ascent by the steps and ramps to the château, then back to the hotel - takes about an hour and a half on foot. We can recommend the "Au Panorama" restaurant that is just by the hotel - excellent French cuisine at an affordable price.
Review 12:Nothing we didn't like - we highly recommend this hotel and would stay again.
Review 13:We spent a night here on our honeymoon and loved it. Great location, air conditioning (which was much needed as temperatures were in the mid 30s), lovely balcony/terrace. We were able to park right outside the hotel.
Review 16:We went down for breakfast at 9am to find the room deserted, many tables uncleared and very little left on the buffet table! we had the last 2 croissants and felt sorry for the couple who arrived as we were leaving!
Review 17:We paid extra for a triple room with a large terrace which was worth it as it was a lovely outside space.
Review 18:we chose Amadour because it locates at the top of the cliff, overviewing the whole landscape of Rocamadour. So we don't have to drag our luggage up and down. During the night we quite enjoyed the misted view over the back camping site, an escape from buzzing city noise. Amadour has decent decoration, very comfortable room and bed. Facilities also of good quality. You can walk to the chateau up the hill, or down to the village by a pedestrian lane, both in 10 mins. It is totally different from driving a car directly into the busy hill town.
Review 19:Nothing at all.
Review 20:We had a room with a terrace and it was very pleasant to sit after exploring with a glass of wine in the evening sun. We were given plenty of information about where to eat and what to see. Everyone was very helpful, and we couldn't have wished for a better holiday.
Review 21:the bed we slept had a concave shape, and we kept sliding towards the middle...
Review 22:the staff was very helpful and attentive. The room was sparkly clean and the decoration was very bright and tasteful. The breakfast was OK, although a bit pricy, in my opinion. No cold-colds and only one type of wrapped cheese. But what we got, was good.
Review 23:Room was directly above a mini mart, which meant some noise from the early morning delivery.
Review 24:Comfortable, clean, easy to park. Close to shops and restaurants.
Review 25:Rocamador is a must see Middle Ages fortress, with a cathedral that hosts one of the Black Madonas very sacred to French Christians, hotel was great at top of a two hour walk down to the bottom then back, Owners where great and helpful, break fast was excellent, highly recommend this place
Review 26:I am partially disabled and didn't realise rooms were all upstairs. My fault as I didn't mention that on booking.
Review 27:Lovely location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable room and beds.Easy to get to nearby restaurants and good choice.
Review 28:The room was spacious for 3 people with a large terrace and had chairs for relaxing an umbrella and a table and upright chairs if you wanted to picnic. The bed was particularly comfortable with lots of pillows, air-conditioning and was kept very clean. There was a mini-mart next door which was very convenient. Staff were very helpful.
Review 29:Can't fault it!
Review 30:Very easily located. A really friendly and helpful welcome.Spotless and bright / comfortable room.Great position at top of town. Great recommendation to Belvedere restaurant opposite( what a view...and the food...!). Excellent breakfast with local produce. Highly recommend.
Review 31:Nothing.
Review 32:Bang in the centre of things. Young lady on reception (owner I think) was brilliant, excellent English, took time to explain everything Rocamadour has to offer. Also recommended restaurant almost opposite (The Belvedere) which was also very good.
Review 33:Bedroom was a good size and had a small terrace. There were blinds at the windows which made sleep easier! the breakfast was good - as French breakfasts go! the owner was very welcoming and helpful. Wonderful views overlooking Rocamadour - spectacular at night.
Review 34:it has to be said would be nice to have a coffee /tea making machine in room
Review 35:it has to be the warm welcome I received on arrival and gave me all info I needed for my stay nothing was too much trouble if I required any a brilliant buffet breakfast lovely room with sunny terrace good car parking close to hotel just perfect thank you
Review 36:Sometimes it felt a bit far from Rocamadour, especially after walking up and down the Chemin de Croix, and the Grand Escalier!
Review 37:The friendly helpful owner, the spacious room, value for money.
Review 38:very friendly helpful staff who went out of their way to provide an excellent service. very clean and comfortable and brilliant private terrace. No room for a fridge but constantly changed ice packs for coolbox. Gave lots of useful information about visiting the area and would book restaurants and attractions for you.
Review 39:Ditto another reviewer, yes a small bar area would be lovely.
Review 40:Female receptionist on duty on our arrival very good, spoke very good English, thorough, knowledgeable & helpful, offered Wifi access without prompting.
Review 41:Nothing!
Review 42:We loved Rocamadour. It is a must to visit this amazing little town if you are in the area. The staff were very friendly and gave us an itinerary and spots and restaurants to check out. The hotel was very comfy and cosy, a real French feel. We had a lovely little terrace outside our room as well.
Review 43:The hotel was very nicely located. I think it's ideal to be in L'Hospitalet and walk the traditional pilgrim path into Rocamadour, there is easy parking, and a very nice little supermarket right next door where you can buy fresh bread and regional specialities. The rooms were very clean with comfortable beds and one of them was a triple with a very large attractive terrace. There was an issue with the wifi which the owner was very helpful in sorting out.
Review 44:For a 2* nothing.
Review 45:Staff very helpful and pleasant. The location was good.
Review 46:No safe in the room
Review 47:Friendly reception, English spoken, size of room, recommendations for dinner and generally helpful
Review 48:Nothing bad.
Review 49:Location, friendly service, reasonable value.
Review 50:It wasnt a problem for us, but there isnt a lift to the rooms.
Review 51:The very friendly staff, the location and the excellent breakfast.
Review 52:IT was terribly busy because of The hot air balloon festival.
Review 53:Very clean, very friendly staff.
Review 54:Nothing to dislike.
Review 55:Room with terrace was clean and comfortable. Staff went out of their way to be pleasant and helpful.
Review 56:None
Review 57:Spectacular Scenery Friendly and helpful staff
Review 58:A bit tatty. Also terrace was very tatty and shared with the next room!!
Review 59:Good location and pleasant staff
Review 60:Excellent location. Close to old town and sights.
Review 61:No lift. You must carry your luggage at least one floor.
Review 62:Booking a room with air conditioning is a must in France during summer months.
Review 63:Standard rooms basic but clean and good price.
Review 64:Great staff Good location, breakfast was simple but always good. Would stay here again
Review 65:All good
Review 66:Value, staff and clean quiet rooms. Parking and very close to Central Rockamador
Review 67:Nice evening city walk
Review 68:Comfortable very clean and friendly
Review 69:The private terrace/balcony from the room. The quiet and comfort of the room
Review 70:Staff is very very friendly and helpful and welcoming to us being English. Room comes with large terras.
Review 71:Warm and very helpful welcome. Great breakfast. Fantastic value and great location.
Review 72:Duvets, well designed family room, lovely breakfast. Owner with excellent knowlegde of things to do and places to eat.
Review 73:The hotel is located outside Rocamadour, ~10 min walk. The reception is working till 20:00.
Review 74:Beautiful town Rocamadour.
Review 75:Poor wi-fi
Review 76:Excellent breakfast, plenty of variety. Lovely location, good restaurants nearby especially the Brasserie, the food was superb.
Review 77:Kindness of the owner.
Review 78:the location friendliness and helpfulness of staff value for money
Review 79:נוח ביותר מנהל המלון שכנראה גם הבעלים מאוד ידידותי ועוזר
Review 80:Nice and clean. Very friendly family run hotel with all kind of information for travellers. Perfect location.
Review 81:Good location for seeing Rocamadour. Close to restaurants and far better than staying in old town itself.
Review 82:A real gem of a hotel at a very reasonable room rate. Brilliant location with free parking all around, extremely helpful and friendly staff.
Review 83:Room was a little spartan
Review 84:Convenient location Very helpful and friendly owner/manager Plenty of room in family room Good breakfast
Review 85:Outstanding location, great and very helpful staff, good breakfast
Review 86:Wireless Service was mostly down
Review 87:Excelent location Very freindly and helpfull managers and staff Clean place Good breakfast
Review 88:Nothing at all
Review 89:Everything
Review 90:Very friendly and helpful manager. Parking outside the hotel. Away from the heat and bustle of Rocamadour's main street yet an enjoyable walk around the main sites of the village. Several bars and restaurants with amazing views of Rocamadour. Just right for our over night stop en route North.
Review 91:The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable, clean, and with a new air-condition (necessary for the hot days during our stay). The location of the hotel is very convenient (in a walking distance from the old village, as well as from several restaurants).
Review 92:The owner was really quirky with lots of frenetic energy. The room was very bare. The floor was rock hard concrete with the thinest rug over it. The breakfast at 8.50 a person was highway robbery, particularly since its coffee was so bad. Skip out on breakfast and stop by next door in the little grocery where you can buy cheese, bread, yogurt, jam, croissants all at a fraction of the price. Our view was over an RV park, and I don't think the other rooms had a better view. However, if you're looking for a room for just 50 euro, this will do the trick.
Review 93:This hotel was mediocre. It was a half step up from a hostel. The room was clean. The shower pressure was good. The air conditioning worked well.
Review 94:Nothing to complain about. Everything positive about this hotel.
Review 95:Anne and Mathieu, the owners, were extremely friendly and helpful. They helped us find new areas to visit, new restaurants to try and were always eager to please. The hotel is very well located, very clean and breakfast is really good for the price! We were very pleased with our stay.
Review 96:WiFi a little bit unreliable (but free and we could do what we wanted with perseverance)
Review 97:An excellent budget hotel in a beautiful town. Excellent hosts: very welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable (eg suggested places to visit and eat - even booked us into a restaurant on mother's day!). Comfortable room with a huge balcony (we booked a 3 person room for 2 people - worth the extra). Good breakfast
Review 98:Absolutely nothing was amiss. I loved this hotel.
Review 99:The owner/manage couple were not only excellent but the best hosts possible. They helped so much, even because my baggage was lost and they kept calling for me. The room was the largest in France, and the terrace was so enjoyable. Breakfast was excellent. Its very quiet even though on a busy street. The walls were thick, I never heard other guests. The exterior shutter comes down and blocks light and noise, too. Its outside the village, just barely, so location is perfect surrounded by other restaurants and attractions. Village center is too crowded and busy to be enjoyable, but is a short walk away down hill. :)
Review 100:not having coffee facilities in the room
Review 101:very friendly staff and great rooms. hotel very clean and quiet. hotel location was perfect and would certainly return to to this hotel again.
Review 102:We couldn't find anything bad about this place.
Review 103:This is probably the best 'budget' hotel we've ever stayed in. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with advice on the local area and places to eat. The rooms were very reasonably sized for the price and clean and modern. The location is perfect, about 100 metres away from a fantastic lookout over Rocamadour, and about a 15 minute walk into the old town. There is the only supermarket in Rocamadour right next to the hotel as well which is very convenient. Breakfast was excellent given the price point.
Review 104:Nothing with view to the Amadour beeing a Budget Hotel.
Review 105:Matthieu and Anne were wonderful hosts, and incredibly helpful about day trips and any information we needed, also spoke English very well. Breakfasts were very nice and the room comfortable for a budget hotel.
Review 106:Warm welcome, courteous, and very professional. People there went out of their way and took the time to give me a map and explained to me all the visiting highlight of Rocamadour. .. and suggested me great restaurants where I went. I will definately highly recommend this place. Martin and Lucie (Canada)
Review 107:A kettle in the room would have been a nice addition for coffee making
Review 108:Perfect for our one night stay to explore the beautiful town of Rocamadour. Easy to walk down to the base of the town. We had a lovely large balcony where we eat our breakfast and picnic dinner.
Review 109:Everything was nice about this hotel and the places around it. Lovely view of gorgeous Rocamadour and nice restaurants nearby. I would stay there again if I'm in the region once again!
Review 110:No fridge in room. Stained towels- although were clean had marks on them.
Review 111:Space in the room was good. Staff friendly and helpful. Good breakfast with lots of choice. Location was great nie to be on top of the hill. Easy to find. Nice balcony but would have been better with a drink in hand!
Review 112:The hotel owners were extremely friendly and helpful, giving guidance on local restaurants and how to make the best of the town and local area. The hotel is situated just outside Rocamador and ideally placed to walk into the old city. There is a hill to deal with but we managed it with ease. The hotel is clean and well-appointed for the price. The breakfast is plentiful and gives a good choice from fruit to Pain ou Chocolate. Ground coffee to fruit juice. There is a choice of good restaurants and shops for supplies within 100 meters of the hotel. The parking is free on the street or in the car park next door. This saves a lot of hassle vs. staying in the actual city of Rocamadour. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family and will defiantly be staying again if visiting the area.
Review 113:nothing
Review 114:the beautifull place of rocamodour. the hotel was very clean, buffet breakfast excellent and the hotel owners and staff very helpful and friendly.altogether a very pleasant stay!
Review 115:The wi-fi - constantly losing connection, having to repeatedly type inthe code, and then being charged for the "free" wifi.
Review 116:We were wondering whether to stay in the medieval town or here and werevery pleased we stayed here. You can see the town at night and it is aneasy walk into town. There are also good restaurant options here whichare probably more affordable. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Thebreakfast was good.
Review 117:Lack of air conditioning in the room, although fans were provided.
Review 118:Very friendly, helpful staff, the hotel was very clean, comfortable and modern and was perfectly located. Access to Rocamadour was easy, via a footpath and despite the fact that the hotel was situated next to a campsite, shops and a small number of other hotels/restaurants, it was very peaceful. As we were touring by motorbike, the location was perfect as we would not have liked to have had to negotiate the packed, narrow, twisting street running through Rocamadour itself. Breakfast was excellent. Would highly recommend.
Review 119:The staff were wonderful and very attentive. The location and price can't be beat. It is a comfortable and clean hotel, the only minor negative is the small rooms.
