Reviews for Balmoral
Review 1:Nothing.
Review 2:I was not well on the way down and as such arrived earlier than anticipated. I rang the owner and she came back from the town to open up for me. She switched the heating on and pointed out where the extra blankets are kept.If I wanted to be ill anywhere this is the place I would choose.Loads of character. Great value.
Review 3:There is parking space for only 4/5 cars, so had to park on the road round the corner. Otherwise, no complaints.
Review 4:Very clean and quiet place to stay, in a central location. Great breakfasts. Ideal small hotel for visits to Doncaster.
Review 5:Internet was intermittent but this was explained to me when I asked about signal strength on arrival, I was also given the option of a stronger signal in the downstairs sitting room.
Review 6:room was comfortable and clean. Even though I had a shared showerroom, there was also another separate toilet and both the toilet and showerroom were clean and tidy. The shower was lovely, big, and hot - just what I needed after a long drive. Nice quiet stay too. Slept very well.
Review 7:If had to pick one fault it would be that the tv signal kept breaking up. Can't complain to much as just turned tv off and didn't notify staff.
Review 8:Perfect location, for the town centre. Very welcoming and helpful gentleman who runs the hotel. Clean room. Comfy bed. Would definitely use this hotel again if need to stay overnight in doncaster.
Review 9:WOULD HAVE LIKE TO HAVE SEEN A SHELF OR SMALL TABLE IN BATHROOM TO PUT WASH BAG AND TOILETRIES. HAD TO RUN BOTH WASH HAND BASIN TAPS TO FIND OUT WHICH ONE WAS HOT AND WHICH ONE WAS COLD. NOT MARKED.
Review 10:LOCATION
Review 11:All was good, no negatives at all.
Review 12:Clean and homely throughout, good sized room, good continental breakfast, lovely dining room, very good location, pleasant and efficient proprietors, reasonably priced. Will be my first choice for future visits to the town.
Review 13:The two staff I met were both very friendly and helpful. The room was immaculate and the price very reasonable for a twin room at a peak demand time. The breakfast was excellent and the apricot jam in particular cannot be recommended highly enough. The Balmoral is a wonderful local business only a short walk from the Doncasrer racecourse and thoroughly worthy of the commendable reputation that it enjoys.
Review 14:Excellent little hotel for a trip to Doncaster races , handily located and within easy walking distance.Has good facilities, shared toilet and shower.Parking is limited though so always a good idea to check on nearby parking if your staying for an event.Ill stay again next time i come to the races.
Review 15:no bad experiences. Photos on line do not do justice to the property. don't let them put you off booking
Review 16:staff aim to be flexible with arrival time breakfasts times etc. They have always been able to met my requests.
Review 17:Would have been nice to have an en suite, but with the style of building I know that it would have been difficult to have en suites per room.
Review 18:Period style house with all the facilities needed, anything we needed was easily got by asking, staff were wonderful! Great stay for a weekend.
Review 19:The location is excellent, walking distance to the racecourse (approx 15 minutes), which was the reason for our visit. Paul is very friendly and helpful and the overall feel of the place is brilliant. Would definitely recommend and would stay again
Review 20:nothing "bad" -- location was convenient (v.busy road though) -but that's a small matter- it was a lovely place and I would recommend it !
Review 21:Wonderful old house, full of interest, charming greeting and help from Janet. Nice, clean comfortable room and terrific breakfast & relaxing read of newspaper in lovely lounge before unhurried departure. And fantastic value -Excellent!
Review 22:Breakfast for veggie not best Over exuberant host for first stay and despite telling host for 2nd stay room had been resold was sorted.was a long walk.thin walls so heard snoring from next room each time
Review 23:Price
Review 24:I needed a budget hotel for a business trip and found the Balmoral to be clean, peaceful and convenient. I received a friendly welcome and it was useful to be able to park for free and take the very short walk into the town centre.
Review 25:There was nothing really I did not like
Review 26:I loved the period house with room and the courtesy on arrival, it had a very family orientated atmosphere with friendly host
Review 27:Good position, 15 min walk into city centre. 5 min walk to hospital complex also on bus line. Janet was caring for property at time of our visit and made us very welcome. Next morning she cooked a delicious breakfast. The owner was very kind in allowing us to store our baggage until our train in the afternoon. We were unable to book a taxi due to some issue and he drove us to the station.
Review 28:The room was neat and had it's own sink and cabinet, wardrobe and TV. Bed very comfortable, towels clean. Liked the arts & crafts styling of the decor, Balmoral has a very beautiful central staircase lined with interesting ornaments and pictures. Very pretty breakfast room.
Review 29:Only issue was the very poor Wi Fi reception
Review 30:A warm welcome was at hand when I arrived,Janet could not do enough for me so polite and friendly. My room was clean and tidy , very good value for money
Review 31:The walls between rooms were extremely thin, we heard every word, cough and footstep from the gentlemen in staying in the other rooms to the extent that it felt like there were no walls separating the rooms.
Review 32:The Breakfast was lovely and freshly cooked. Any question we had about the local area were answered (bus routes, walking distances etc) which was extremely helpful.
Review 33:Not much, my only complaint would be that the light did not work above the sink in the ensuite, of which I forgot to mention to the staff. The teamaking facilities could of been better situated, not under the television close to the floor.
Review 34:The hotel had all the comforts of home with friendly, helpful staff and a wholesome breakfast. Not too far from the centre of town, with good bus links for getting there.
Review 35:Off road parking rather limited - space available on arrival, but no spaces on return in the evening - had to park over-night on the road around the corner - rather worrying! This is my only niggle.
Review 36:Lovely and clean, including the carpets. Victorian, elegant style. Reasonably sized room with comfy bed and armchairs, nice and warm throughout the stay. En-suite small but big enough and plenty of hot water. Lovely dining room, and breakfast was perfect, with newspapers available. Stand-in staff member was pleasant and sociable. Will return.
Review 37:Really loved our stay, the host was very good, not ott and knew exactlyhow to treat his occupants. Our room was spotless and our bed was verycomfortable. Full English breakfast was £5, and good value. We'lldefinitely stay again.
Review 38:A very nice place to stay in Doncaster. The staff was nice and my room really clean and comfortable. It is close to the town centre (5 minutes walk, but the bus stop is also out of the door) and very close to the amazing Town moor. The hospital (Doncaster Royal Infirmary) is also very close to the hotel, 200 meters, so if you have meeting, conferences or something else there this is the ideal place where to stay.
Review 39:Nothing to fault at all!!
Review 40:From the moment I walked in Paul and Nadia made me feel so welcome!! The room was great! Clean, comfy and well layed out. I would recommend a stay here 100%!!! Thank you for a fantastic time!!
Review 41:Nothing, it is a fabulous little hotel.
Review 42:Proprieter was very attentive and accommodating. Room was spotless. Hotel was superbly placed for access to Race Course and Town Centre, both a 15 minute walk on the level. Will definitely stay again for the 2015 St Leger.
Review 43:Cannot think of anything
Review 44:A very comfortable couple of nights in a clean, well appointed room. It was clean and contained everything I would expect of a good B&B. What was not there was readily available. Next time I need to visit Doncaster this is where I will stay.
Review 45:Parking was a bit tight but the owners kindly moved our car into a spot out front then it became vacant-we were at the races.
Review 46:It was cheap, breakfast was good, it was a short stroll to the races. We shared a bathroom with others but we knew we would when we booked. The owners were really friendly and helpful-it was a great stay. I loved the fact we had an electric fan in our room-such a small thing but I'd have loved it in most of the other properties we've stayed in on this holiday.
Review 47:An old victorian house that is homely and with character. Clean and good breakfast the lady who sorted out my needs whilst I was there was very attentive even though it wasnt her establishment. Would stay again.
Review 48:Lovely warm and welcoming bed and breakfast ideally situated close to the city centre and even closer to the races. We had a family room, travelling with my daughter which had a lovely sparklingly clean en-suite shower room. Breakfast was excellent and very good value for money,
