Reviews for Park Broom Lodge

Review 1:Only some small niggles. The car-park is quite poorly lit for those arriving after dark. In contrast the lighting in the newly refurbished bathroom was much too bright, literally blinding! Some traffic noise in our room at the front, quite subdued by the triple glazing but a room at the back might be preferable, if available.

Review 2:Very welcoming and comfortable accommodation within easy reach of Carlisle. Nicely furnished large room with very comfortable bed, tea/coffee-making facility and spacious modern bathroom, Excellent quality evening meal and really superb breakfast with lots of choice. Very friendly staff and service all round.

Review 3:The stay was excellent in every way. Food, bed, friendly owners. Warm welcome . Value , will stay again. Much better than a stop at a National Chain hotel.

Review 4:Would have liked to have had a drink from before we went out and returned. Room was slightly cold through the night. When arrived it was very dark in hallway also on return in hallway.

Review 5:A lovely old type building and furniture. Great breakfast.Bedroom was lovely and comfortable and clean.

Review 6:Old house and furniturein room as well downstairs . forget the shower no hot water and no pressure. Dirty environment. On Booking.com pictures are not the reality.

Review 7:Cheap

Review 8:The cleanliness left a lot to be be desired . There were spider webs on the bathroom door and dust wasn't cleaned properly. The carpets are old and really stuffy it might be time for an upgrade .

Review 9:The Breakfast was really good and portions quite generous.

Review 10:The ensite bathroom was a little small but still useable.

Review 11:All the staff were really friendly and accommodating they made you feel very comfortable. Relaxed atmosphere with no set time which you have to be back for. Breakfast was lovely. About a 5 minute drive from Carlisle. Had a great time even though the weather was terrible.

Review 12:The room we had breakfast in was cold and the shower in room was difficult to adjust to a comfortable setting, the bath tap was just a little bit more than a dribble to fill up, couldn't watch much TV as signal was poor

Review 13:Breakfast and bathroom very good

Review 14:The Lodge had a problem with the plumbing in our reserved room and arranged for us to stay at another B&B at no cost to us. Fantastic and we were kept fully in the picture as soon as the problem was known. Service level exceptionally high and must stay there some day.

Review 15:Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice, location was nice and quiet for my 6 yr old daughter, the staff was really friendly and the room was comfy and clean

Review 16:Nothing.

Review 17:I stay in different places most weekends so I'm in a position to say that this is excellent accommodation. There is nothing I would change

Review 18:The mattresses were not very comfortable. Our room had everything we needed but was a bit tatty and cramped.

Review 19:Excellent breakfast - impressive choice on offer and well cooked. Dinner was also good. Having a separate area (and TV!) for the children within our room was great, also the addition of hot chocolate and delicious shortbread on our hospitality tray was much appreciated. Despite initial concerns, the triple glazing worked and we hardly heard any road noise.

Review 20:What a delightful B&B, such a cosy ambiance, wonderful room and an outstanding breakfast! We got a warm welcome and have to give a big shout out to Sue on making us feel at home during breakfast.

Review 21:Nothing

Review 22:Great food and comfortable room. Staff are all friendly and helpful, especially Sue who kept the breakfast room open for us when I had my watch on the wrong time zone and we slept in!

Review 23:not a problem with anything

Review 24:Excellent staff, very helpful even moved us when bed was too hard for my back to a better room, loved having a tea on arrival with some cake, food excellent as well

Review 25:The owners were so friendly and welcoming and nothing was any bother. The food was lovely and good value for money.Rooms were very clean and we had the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. The breakfasts were belly busters, all local produce and were huge and delicious.

Review 26:Service excellent, very friendly and helpful staff and nothing was too much trouble. Food was really good quality, and recommend eating dinner there as well - and their dinner prices were very reasonable. The bed was comfortable, and the room a good size. Triple glazing meant it was also nice and quiet.

Review 27:We had evening meal - My wife had the lamb but this was cooked very pink and she commented on that it didn't taste of lamb at all! They cooked her a lamb shank but didn't advise so it was too late when brought to the table. The condiments used at breakfast could have done with been cleaned up.

Review 28:Owners very friendly. Welcomed with a nice pot of tea and home made shortbread

Review 29:Easy to find on the edge of the city but with easy access to it. The young chef (probably still an apprentice) with extremely high standards. Attention to detail in the dining room.

Review 30:Welcome cup of tea on arrival. Very friendly staff. We chose to have an evening meal which was delicious and reasonably priced. Breakfast was ample and good.

Review 31:Great location - just off M6 and close to Hadrian's Wall Path. Staff very helpful and friendly. Lovely room with very comfortable bed. Evening meal and Breakfast excellent. Although next to a busy road, the traffic noise was quite manageable. We would certainly stay again.

Review 32:Great stop when walking hadrians wall. The comfort we needed after a long day. Such a comfortable bed like a marshmallow for sore bodies. Food very good had dinner and breakfast home cooked with good selection really recommend a visit.

Review 33:As it was on the main road some folk might not like that but it was not a problem for me .

Review 34:Easy going and friendly staff. Dog not a problem. It was good to be able to enjoy an excellent dinner on arrival . Also the breakfast was very good

Review 35:disappointing food - but what you would expect in a witherspoons

Review 36:fantastic room. very spacious and very comfortable bed. incredible bathroom. excellent facilities

Review 37:Pet friendly, but no-where to put dog poo. Broken glass and litter in car park and around building. Right at the side of a very busy main road - lots of heavy goods vehicles so noisy 'til about midnight then from about 6am. Furnishing very tired and temporary looking.

Review 38:Comfortable bed, friendly owner, good breakfast, handy for access to M6.

Review 39:Room claustrophobic and airless window opened one inch for air and. Incredibly noisy with window open Kettle on floor Booked large room given small one Gave us discount but wanted a large room which is what we booked Television didn't work

Review 40:pet friendly

Review 41:Positioned beside very busy main road, glad my room was at the back of the building. Vibration from trucks could be felt though. Décor quite drab, shades of brown and beige. No desk space in room to allow working. Internet connection poor.

Review 42:Friendly staff, Good Menu choice, excellent food quality and good value for money. Breakfast superb. Location close to Carlisle city.

Review 43:no bad points.

Review 44:Room size was large and roomy as was the bed and very comfortable too. Breakfast was big and tasty and well cooked also there was ample parking and great views over the country side excellent.

Review 45:Outside of building looks tired and path from car park untidy. But as they say never judge a book by its cover.

Review 46:Good location, close to carlisle centre (bout 5-10 mins drive). Friendly and helpful staff. quiet location even though on road side. breakfast was included in our stay and it tasted great.

Review 47:Small point as there was no bin to put doggy poo bags in.

Review 48:Food. Plenty of choice & all excellently cooked. Rooms. Both were to an excellent standard no complaints at all.

Review 49:Lovely warm welcome. Despite being on a main road very quiet, a warm and cosy clean room. Food was nice as was the breakfast. Best stay in Carlisle. Onky ten mins from Carlisle centre

Review 50:This was our second stay at Park Broome and we enjoyed it as much as the first. Everything - food, rooms, staff - are great. - out to give visitors a good experience

Review 51:In the countryside about 5 miles from the city, so is nice and quiet. It has lovely grounds, with large lawns and table and chairs under umbrellas. They have lots of various bird-feeders, so the bird life is abundant. Cath welcomed us and offered us afternoon tea in the garden, which we accepted and enjoyed. She and Brad are great hosts and were always keen to chat and give us information. We had a back room on the first floor with a view over the garden. The bathroom was small but modern and had a good shower. The bed was very comfortable with nice linen and overall the room suited us fine. The dining room looks onto the garden and we chose to have dinner there which was a very nice meal. Also the breakfast, my husband said the bacon was the best he's had on our month's holiday.

Review 52:Even though the Lodge is on a busy road, we could not hear any of it. The owners were very amiable & helpful and there was a very welcome warm fire. Our room was a good size & bed very comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

Review 53:It looks a bit run down when entering the hotel and grounds not well kept. Food not that good and do not think it is value for the money.

Review 54:Room was a good size and clean and bed comfortable.

Review 55:The Internet is pretty lousy.

Review 56:The staff were fantastic. We were a bit worried about the location in the busy road but the double paned windows were great, didn't hear a sound.

Review 57:Great place to stop with a dog if traveling down the m6. For dinner had fish and home made chips. Best chips I have had in ages. The breakfast was fantastic. Beer garden for ball action for the dog. Don't be put off with hotel being on a main road. We arrived just before 8 at night. Road was quiet. We had room at front and not once did traffic wake us up.

Review 58:This beautiful little hotel offered a peaceful and welcoming stay for the weary traveller. With a lounge/bar and restaurant available on site we had everything we needed to relax and recover from our journey. Staff were friendly and accommodating and the rooms were beautifully decorated, spacious, comfortable and exceptionally clean. This place is a little gem.

Review 59:Poor wifi, and very tiny bathrooms.

Review 60:Although we showed up a bit later in the evening, they were able to make something for us for dinner. Was quite simple check in/check out process. Nice beds overall.

Review 61:It's just in need of a lick of paint.

Review 62:Our evening meal and breakfast were really nice. Beautiful garden. Nice people running it. Close to the motorway if travelling further.

Review 63:location of hotel for travelling into carlisle for a night out this isnt a problem as we used taxis

Mrs Moore

Review 65:the owners were very friendly and helpfull the room was excellent very clean and the bed very comfy we were on the front of hotel but the double glazing meant there was no noise the breakfast was of a high standard

Review 66:A very friendly welcome and comfortable night. Room at rear had no traffic noise. Large breakfast with good choice Even a live CCTC view was provided in the breakfast room, showing goings on in a bird box.

Review 67:That we had to leave the next morning.

Review 68:The hostess and staff were very pleasant. The breakfast was fantastic -- delicious, hot and very tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Review 69:Didn't have any real ale but only one type of bottled beer that we don't like (think it was San Miguel). The bar was overall disappointing. After a long walk on Hadrian's path, we really wanted a good beer and didn't get it here.

Review 70:The room was very nice and clean. The breakfast lady was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast options were great!

Review 71:The staff were lovely and so friendly. I had requested a gluten free breakfast and they were excellent with the food and really understood my food allergies. The food was yummy too. We had a fantastic weekend here :-)

Review 72:The room we stayed in was beautiful and very comfortable. Staff were all lovely. We had an evening meal as well as the included breakfast and thought the food was fantastic.

Review 73:Wi-Fi could`nt get connected but did not detract from my stay.

Review 74:Difficult to fault this hotel, staff were very pleasant and could`nt do enough for you,my room(No.5) was brilliant, very spacious with possibly the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, food was excellent in the evening as was breakfast in the morning, overall a very pleasant experience, would definitely stay here again.

Review 75:It is very close to a fast road so there is the inevitable traffic noise although they have put extra glazing up to stop it being such a problem in the rooms.

Review 76:The family room we had had a little extra room off for our wee one with a toilet and hand basin off that which was fabulous for us. We were able to enjoy an evening meal despite our late arrival and breakfast was super! perfectly poached eggs!!

Review 77:Absolute bargin for £60, we booked into the 4 Poster bed room with a lovely free standing bath. Also liked the Blackout curtains and big flatscreen TV that could be enjoyed from the bed and the cute little pack of Quality streets that were left in the room.

Review 78:Busy main road. No outside lights to light path to car park.

Review 79:Staff welcoming, rooms spacious, comfortable and clean. Food excellent with good choice. Great stay. Would go again.

Review 80:NOTHING

Review 81:the spacious room and good facilities were above expectation, making a difficult visit very comfortable and relaxing. Staff very accommodating and friendly. Iron and board provided as well as plentiful supply of coffee tea etc Lovely breakfast served HOT with plenty of extras we just couldn't eat as the cooked breakfast was outstanding.

Review 82:We were upgraded to the large front bed room with four poster bed - a really lovely comfortable room. We enjoyed our stay very much & ate in the dining room where we each had the magnificent local trout which we would thoroughly recommend.

Review 83:Signs of dampness in the bathroom could have been painted out

Review 84:Room was very warm and cosy, breakfast was awsome and plentiful and there was more if you wanted it. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 85:No tv in sitting room / bar area

Review 86:Staff are very friendly and accommodating , food was lovely , even got a pepper sauce done that wasn't on the menu, the omlettes for breakfast are delicious

Review 87:Nothing!

Review 88:Massive bed & room, very comfortable. Breakfast at the time we requested Fantastic value for money! Great location not far off the motorway, great to break up journey to Glasgow!

Review 89:Our room was great value for money! We had a four poster bed - and the bathroom has obviously just been modernised and was great - lovely big bath and shower. Room at front of hotel which is situated on side of busy road - but traffic didn't keep us awake. Staff were all very friendly - food was good. Ideal for an overnight stay.

Review 90:can feel vibrations of traffic in room some bits starting to look a bit tired (bathrooms especially)

Review 91:family room was great very nice breakfast welcoming staff

Review 92:No dislikes whatsoever.

Review 93:The location, food, staff and rooms are fantastic. This place is a little gem and I will stay here again, even if its just to get a flat iron steak! Simply superb in every aspect.

Review 94:Lovely welcome. Tea on arrival a nice touch. Food excellent prepared from scratch by a chef) park Broom lodge is family run business and the owners made us very welcome. The lodge has a bar and a log fire which was comfy and welcoming on a cold night. I liked the Victorian building, and rooms were comfy and very clean. Breakfast was delicious. Will definately return.

Review 95:Didn't expect the location to be quite so isolated however it was only a short taxi journey to town which the staff were more than happy to organise

Review 96:Staff were super friendly, really couldn't have made you feel any more welcome, food was amazing definitely lives up to the reviews and a pleasant room with real comfy bed was a bonus. It was clean and homely and superb value

Review 97:The easy welcome, tea and cake after a long drive from Norwich in front of a log fire could not have been better. Very nice evening meal small bar means you need to go no further on the day.

Review 98:We immediately felt at home with the real log fire, homely comforts and hand prepared food. Our room was comfortable, clean and well presented with everything we needed.

Review 99:That I didn't have more time to enjoy the homely environment.

Review 100:The location, although next to a main road the room was quiet. The friendly nature of the staff, could not have been more helpful, especially with my late arrival. The bed was excellent, great sleep. A good hearty Cumbrian breakfast, you must take the sausages, the best I have tasted and real bread for toast, so much better than the limp bread I had the previous day at the Holiday Inn.

Review 101:Road noise from fast traffic till early hours, and from about 6am. Huge problem for us, as we live in an extremely quiet location, which resulted in almost no sleep. Owners did explain that sash windows in our room didn't allow for effective noise elimination, though other rooms were sound-proofed with triple glazing.

Review 102:Friendly staff. Immediate attention to very squeaky bathroom door. Log fire.

Review 103:We like the value for money and the food both at evening dinner and breakfast was fantastic. The steak was not only really good quality, but cooked to perfection and Hugh!

Review 104:The lighting was very poor in the room and with dark curtains and flooring rather depressing. Value for money as the breakfast was excellent.

Review 105:Given room downstairs which was very handy for taking Bertie out. The cooked breakfast was excellent although we were unable to take Bertie in with us - why, we had been on the continent for 2 weeks and there had never been a problem. Wifi was good and the modernised bThroom wS good

Review 106:Nothing I could fault

Review 107:Owners gave us a very friendly reception . All staff where very helpful and nothing was to much , the atmosphere within park broom lodge was very friendly and relaxing. The food both evening meal and breakfast was excellent and served piping hot . Rooms where very clean and the stay was well worth money would definitely stay there again .

Review 108:Ceiling light in room could have been brighter as blocked a little by four-poster bed canopy.

Review 109:Warm comfortable room and large well equipped en-suite bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed in a number of hotels on our trip and this was the best by far. Excellent fish and chips in restaurant and lovely breakfast with attentive service.

Review 110:Only negative was the decor ... A face-lift at the entrance and hallway would improve first impressions and give the Hotel some Kerb Appeal.

Review 111:Size of room was great and very clean. Huge flat screen t.v and free wi-fi. Good hospitality tray with large jar of drinking choc ! Breakfast was 1st class. Loved the individual butter dishes...must buy one. Much better value than Premier Inn. Will definitely return.

Review 112:On arrival I was given choice of three rooms which I was surprisedabout. I was concerned about being 'on the road'/ the noisebut I was very surprised that the place is so well insulated! We sleeplike 'logs'! Extremely helpful staff who made us feel verywelcome; great choice of food for breakfast selection also. For anovernight stay, near m6 and en-route for Scotland would highly recommendand would use again. Great value for money.

Review 113:We have no negative comments about this hotel.

Review 114:We received a wonderful welcome at Park Broom Lodge and found it to bein a convenient location, with great facilities. The room wasexceptionally clean and well presented with a very good bed resulting ina great sleep. The food, both dinner and breakfast, was exceptional. Wefound the hotel to be exceptional value for money and would have nohesitation in recommending it.

Review 115:I did struggle with the shower but only a minor thing.

Review 116:The hotel staff were very welcoming. The room was very comfortable but a little too warm for me. Tea and coffee available. Plenty of storage room. The food was delicious and plates were piping hot. Although we were sleeping on the front of the hotel the room was quiet. Would visit again.

Review 117:Greeting on arrival wasn't the best and the shower room was very small.

Review 118:The reception when we arrived wasn't great but the room was fine and the staff at breakfast were superb. The breakfast was the best we've ever had at a hotel and that includes Park Lane Hilton!

Review 119:Outlook, but not really a major issue given the purpose of our stay as an overnight stop.

Review 120:Proximity to motorway junction; Availability of evening meals; Welcome; Excellent as a stop over on long journey to & from North of Scotland. Will recommend to friends.

Review 121:No espresso machine!

Review 122:If the hotel was not situated on the main Carlisle-Hexham road it would surely be a hidden gem! Yet so many must pass it everyday without experiencing its delightful character, terrific menu and superb friendly welcome from the hosts. We will definitely stay here again. This time we used it as a stop over to break our journey but can't think of a better base to explore Carlisle and surroundings from. Dogs were made very welcome too!
