Reviews for Restover Lodge Hotel Doncaster

Review 1:Room stunk of aftershave and sweat and the bed was rock hard. Also the toilets and showers are terrible

Review 2:The staff where nice and early and coffee stand was good.

Review 3:I cant believe how bad the hotel is. The cleaniness, facilities, atmosphere, comfort, absolute rubbish! Looked like a prison (as my partner phrased it) will deffintley not be going there again never in my life. I would have rather enjoyed the day in my car with my partner than going there. If i knew it was like this i would have never booked the hotel. It was so cold we was shivering! Never come across such a terrible shocking place! Dont know how its still up and running! Its more of a b&b for homeless people than a hotel. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Even as a mistake! Worst place i have ever seen.

Review 4:Nothing.

Review 5:This hotel was a disgrace. Dirty, damp and stains on walls and carpets. The electrics were unsafe, the window was broken and the door didn't lock securely. The shared bathroom facilities were filthy and the whole place stank. This hotel is not fit for purpose and should be reported to trading standards and certainly not offered up to paying guests. I wasn't expecting luxury for a budget price but at least safety and cleanliness should be observed. I have seen better conditions in homeless hostels!!

Review 6:Absolutely nothing, the guy on the reception however was friendly and accommodating when I asked for a full refund before I left.

Review 7:Watery orange juice at breakfast...no hook in bathroom for towels or clothes...small matters overall...

Review 8:Refurbished room with ensuite really good value. Exceptional courtesy and kindness from reception staff, who are there 24/7. Bonne Maman jam for breakfast! TV well positioned to watch in bed, lots of channels, all working well.

Review 9:It's quite a walk from Doncaster train station, although there are 2 buses that stop outside, may be worth informing people of the bus numbers on your website

Review 10:Reception staff were very helpful and friendly, lovely, clean fresh room, towels and shower gels provided. Coffee and tea making facilities in the room. Quiet location.

Review 11:The general indoor appearance and condition was poor, the place smelt musty, the bedroom carpet was filthy, the noise throughout the night was bad coming from room 201, booked a continental breakfast nothing visible, wall heater broken, insecure WiFi,

Review 12:Locatio6

Review 13:Elder members of staff understand needs of more senior guests and prepared to spend just a few minutes in polite conversation. I can see my family grave fromms at the back of the hotel!

Review 14:Overall, I was discusted with this hotel. The rooms are nothing like the photos that was advertised. We arrived to the hotel, it smelt awful. Then we went further up the stairs to our rooms. None of the doors would lock so it wasn't as if our belongings were secure. The toilets were like portaloos, the shower was just as bad, had to keep hold of the button whilst in the shower - every girl would know the struggle of this. Then to top it of we got locked on our room and had to call for someone to get us out. Overall I would say the hotel was awful and defiantly wouldn't recommend at all!

Review 15:I thought the recpetionist was very helpful. He advised us on taxi companies we could use and gave us information we needed.

Review 16:Despite the bargain price, for which I obviously didn't expect much, the bed was awfull. A lumpy mattress on a block of flat board. Tap in sink did not work, and blind had mould on. Communal toilet something I won't forget in a hurry. If I hadn't been alone and slightly worse for wear after a works Xmas do, I would have left. Window latch was also broken. Somewhere I will remember for a long time for all the wrong reasons. Next time I will gladly pay way more and go elsewhere.

Review 17:Location was good for getting to and from the train station. Price was bargain basement and having on-site parking was a big bonus. Staff were very cheerful and helpful.

Review 18:No towel's provided, tiles we starting to come off wall, shower tidy was rusting, blind on window didn't fit right so had gaps so people could see in and all the carpets in corridors smelt of a cross between wet dog and feet never seen so many air fresheners along a corridor.

Review 19:The price was reasonable.

Review 20:Dont stay here if you want luxury. We was a group of lads on a night out.worked well for us.

Review 21:Rooms were clean. Staff were helpful. Price was right. Was basic out of the way so quiet.Comfortable stay.

Review 22:WOMAN ON MY OWN FELT A BIT VUNERABLE DIDNT RELISE IT WAS LIKE FORMULA 1 TYPE ACCOMODATION LIKE THEY HAVE IN FRANCE X CHEEP AND CHEARFULL VERY BASIC BUT FUNCTIONAL HELP YOURSELF CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST AND TOAST AND COFFEE ALL GOOD XXXX THE ACTUAL LOCKING MECHANISM ON MY PERSONAL BEDROOM DOOR NEEDED ATTENTION ACTUALLY AS I COULDNT LOCK IT FROM THE OUTSIDE BUT WHEN YOU WERE INSIDE IT LOCKED AND HAD A BOLT THING ON IT IT X BEST NIGHTS SLEEP IVE HAD IN A LONG TIME VERY QUIET ACTUALLY XXXX FANTASTIC FOR BIKERS AND THRO STAYS WOULDNT LIKE TO STAY HERE FOR A WEEK OR ANYTHING BUT YEAH REALLY GOOD THANKS FOR WHAT IT WAS

Review 23:STAFF WERE ACTUALLY FAB

Review 24:Rooms were unclean and very dangerous with live wires hanging from lights and tv was turning its self on and off and a lady got stuck in the shared bathrooms 10 minutes till staff came to help which woke us up at 5am when we a funeral to go two

Review 25:One member Staff helped when there was a problem nicely

Review 26:It reminded me of a youth hostel, basic shared facilities and washing own pots . Not a bad experience just basic.

Review 27:You could help yourself to hot drinks whenever you liked and the buffet style breakfast was ample. Near to main junctions but reasonably quiet location

Review 28:The bedroom was dirty marks all over the walls and bed was uncomfortable not what u would expect from a deluxe room I've stayed in better hostels

Review 29:The bathroom in the deluxe rooms only

Review 30:Door lock wasn't functioning correctly and door showed signs of previous break in! The sink leaked, so floor was flooded. The window blind was broken and fixed poorly with a screw. It was same construction as temp prisons but poorer. Will not be staying again, my mistake!

Review 31:The price. The TV. The shower. Included basic breakfast, toast & cereals.

Review 32:Toilets were small porter loo type toilets that looked dirty, our TV took 20mins to turn on properly (we called the maintenance man up in the end and he said it was normal, they all take ages!) our sink was broken, beds were small, there was no space in the room at all (we had to get ready standing on a bed!) our too stank of cigarette smoke, very noisy! Staff were ok but very "one word answer".

Review 33:It' was so dirty human faeces on the wall in the room was like walking into a prison cell and the toilet had a dirty stringent the shower was dirty I would never stayed there ever again

Review 34:Room dirty, not like photos on website not suitable bedding for child under six so our son ended up in bed with us hotel smelt of cigarette smoke when going to shared factilites half not working again not like photo of shared facilities either

Review 35:parking was good staff polite

Review 36:Boooked a room with toilet facilities. Got there, was given one without. Checked the shared toilet facilities, and was shocked by the state of it.Did not sleep there. Left my case and returned the next day.

Review 37:Nothing

Review 38:The woman in reception very unfriendly. Another member of staff made up for that by being very helpful. Room very dark and dingy. Sink was old and dirty. Everything was tatty and old. Toilet down the hall was revolting.

Review 39:The bed was clean and the TV worked.

Review 40:For the price restover over lodge is absolutely fantastic.central to Doncaster and with a breakfast in the morning for 28 pounds what more can you ask for.

Review 41:The rooms were dirty beds were so uncomfy toilets were in corridor didnt have a toilet in the rooms pay for a breakfast and u get toast and cereal thats not a breakfast whn u pay 110 pound to stay

Review 42:None of the experiece was good at all

Review 43:Rooms very tatty. Heater not working. No bedside plug to charge phone etc. (essential in 21st century........) Self Cleaning Toilets disgusting........... . Very Noisy at night as other residents move about...... though I admit this is not the hotels fault, its still worth consideration

Review 44:Very friendly staff, efficient check in and welcome.

Review 45:The way that nothing was to much trouble for the very friendly helpful staff. We had an up grade free of charge on the insistence of the Nita The lady in charge on the time of our check in. wow Room 225a

Review 46:Everything else. The rooms were small. No proper beds, just a plywood platform with a mattress, only 1 pillow per person. Toilets were like building site porta loos, and shared! shared kitchen in reception for you to make your own breakfast, tea, coffee. and building work started at 8.00am on a Saturday morning!!! this place should not be called a Hotel

Review 47:It was close to the center of town. The location is really the only thing this has going for it. For what they have you could get a room at the YMCA for the same facilities at half the price.

Review 48:Everything else. The rooms were small. No proper beds, just a plywoodplatform with a mattress, only 1 pillow per person. Toilets were likebuilding site porta loos, and shared! Shared kitchen in reception foryou to make your own breakfast, tea, coffee. And building workstarted at 8.00am on a Saturday morning!!! This place should not becalled a Hotel

Review 49:It was close to the center of town. The location is really the onlything this has going for it. For what they have you could get a room atthe ymca for the same facilities at half the price.

Review 50:The room was dirty and very small. The shared bathroom facilities were small and dirty.

Review 51:The staff were very friendly and dos the best that they could with what little they have to offer!

Review 52:I got stalked by another guest who climbed up too my window well i was getting changed then the lady om the desk gave them my room number the hotel was dirty small ans the tv didnt work wifi was slow just a bad hotel

Review 53:The first room, very poor

Review 54:The first room we were offered was very poor, even though it was cheap i was still abit devastated by the condition of the room but your staff went out of their way to help us and offered us a large room with en-suite and they even put a mattress on the floor for my son, this made the stay alot better as we were going to a funeral the next day

Review 55:Shared showers , shared toilets ... self clean toilets needed a proper clean and no restaurant or bar on site.

Review 56:The room was basic but tidy. Location was good for access to motorway.

Review 57:The corridors were a bit tired but overall fairly good motel

Review 58:Cheap and centrally located motel. You get what you pay for but given the price it is clean and serviceable.

Review 59:Deluxe rooms are basic but comfortable for short stay with own bathroom, wouldn't recommend for long stays. Shared bathroom rooms are very basic and wouldn't recommend booking one of these rooms. Especially with young children.

Review 60:Close to town, staff are friendly and helpful.

Review 61:Only to find the cleaner's had left our room door open and the lights on,while we were out for the day, luckily nothing was missing.a

Review 62:Comfortable ensuite, very clean, plenty tea ,coffee & biscuits.

Review 63:Shared bathroom and toilet were more like porta loos. Heating worked when it wanted and in our friends room the portable heater in there kept sparking when on.

Review 64:Very noisy corridor until 0300 hrs. Room and ablution areas need some TLC. Breakfast was very basic and self help.

Review 65:Simple booking. Pay on arrival and no fee cancel. Easy book in.

Review 66:Rooms in URGENT need of professional redecoration. There has been a really bad paint job done which adds to the depressing feeling. This hotel is being renovated but bare cables and mould in the room is not a good advert. Breakfast is AWFUL.

Review 67:Good location and close to the town centre. Staff are very friendly and happy to help. Tea and coffee available at any time.

Review 68:Very cramped bedroom. No enquire. TV not working properly. Bed very uncomfortable n lumpy. Pillows were not plump at all. Four Pillows were as gud as one pillow. They were very flat. Ladies toilet very cramped aswell. Had to leave only after a couple of hours. Wasn't comfortable at all.....

Review 69:Location was ok not bad. Easy to find. Staff good and polite.

Review 70:This place should not be allowed to trade as a hotel, as it is actually a cheap, filthy hostel. The room had a mattress pretty much on the floor, a dirty sink in the corner and faulty electrics / electric parts loose and broken. The communal toilets were basically built in portaloos. We promptly left with a refund and stayed at a travelodge down the road instead.

Review 71:Nothing, except for the male staff member / caretaker who was quite apologetic

Review 72:Worst hotel iv stayed at. To go to the toilet at night you have to past the reception where the staff stared at you the toilet was like a porter loo and you had to go out your room to get a shower the only thing in the room was a bed and a bed side sink you had portable radiator to keep you warm the bed was uncomfortable. I will not stay there again

Review 73:Best part was leaving

Review 74:did not like the washing up of breakfast items as this was not very hygienic and the towels were dirty. sink was full of dirty dishes Orange drink was very weak. did not like the fact that everyone was handling the bread. needs more tables etc. cutlery was placed in basket wrong was causing the handling of knives spoons etc by the eating end. The tea cups and saucers in our room were not washed after our use. TV did not work properly as it kept loosing it's signal so we could not enjoy a program I was given three WI FI access codes that did not work they seem to have a box full of them. There were builders working on the premises causing us to take a detour up stairs and down at 75 this is not good We heard some disturbing stories about ladies of the night

Review 75:bedding was white and clean but beds were hard shower was very good and the bathroom was new there was a good supply of tea and coffee and biscuits shower gel and shampoo was also supplied

Review 76:The cc machine didn't work, the worst sleep, uncomfortable, tatty, dirty, doors being knocked at 2am, The receptionist on check out was unhelpful, unfriendly, and tried to overcharge us. Horrendous place.

Review 77:The night receptionist and maintenance man were very helpful and efficient

Review 78:The lock on the room door was broken and a new one had to be replaced however we were not sure even the new one actually worked at locking the door.

Review 79:The en suite bathroom looked like it had been newly installed and the place was value for money.

Review 80:The breakfast was not very good and you also were expected to do your own washing up.

Review 81:The room was not bad value for money. The room had just been referbished and was quite comfortable but you were unable to get BBC 1 or BBC 2.

Review 82:Room was so shabby as to be worrying, terrible smells in the hallway, toilet had a big puddle on the floor, my fellow traveller was scared and actually didn't want to stay. We did and it wasn't as bad as feared. I've stayed in hostels that were much cheaper and better.

Review 83:Location

Review 84:The cleanliness of the room was extremely poor. The showers and toilet were very clean but the room was terrible. The sink was dirty and in need of some bleach and a good scrub! I couldn't take my shoes off in the room because the carpet was so dirty and sticky. We were very grateful that this was just a bed to sleep in and we didn't have to sit in the room for a second longer than required! We didn't brave breakfast as the hygiene in the room was poor enough, god knows what the kitchen would be like.

Review 85:You get what you pay for. We paid peanuts so didn't expect it to be great - luckily! It is located very close to town which was perfect for us. Staff were pleasant. Sheets were clean.

Review 86:My Wife and I stayed for three nights during the UKIP Conference and found it both inexpensive and it had friendly and informative staff. There was also a nearby good restaurant for dinners. Our Quiet room, if fairly spartan had a good en-suite toilet and Shower room. Finally an adequate, simple D. I. Y. breakfast was available. WE CANNOT COMPLAIN.

Review 87:Not enough space to put all the faults down in 2 or 3 sentences. Thisreview: does not have enough room to put down the rights & wrongs ofthis establishment. As q5. Keeps deleting comments in your own words!(Ie: describe property) = backpacker/clubbing

Review 88:Location (but never again)

Review 89:The toilet facilities, I couldn't find the bathroom, TV didn't work, No plug to the basin, bedroom door was falling away from door frame. Metal bunk above bed. poor condition of most items.

Review 90:I was able to buy bottled water at reasonable price

Review 91:Filthy, receptionist handed over a key which was dirty and sticky. I said this is dirty her answer was 'someone put the sticky tape and now it is collecting the dirt. I would be so ashamed to give a customer a key like that but she was not even sorry. Continental breakfast was included in the price. Bowl of cereal and a piece of toast is not classified as continental breakfast. No one is serving and we had to wash up afterwards.

Review 92:There is nothing to like about this place. Two tables for all the guests.

Review 93:Without doubt the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The room was filthy, the walls had real damp and mould problems. It's a mystery to me How environmental health haven't closed the place down

Review 94:Nothing. It's awful.

Review 95:The dodgy electrics. The woman next door complaining because I flipped in a switch or two in the morning to do some ironing.

Review 96:The price and helpfulness of the staff.

Review 97:Our room had a cemetery right next door, so didn't want to open the window at night, the room was very small and hot, the door didn't lock properly, we had chewing gum stuck over the bed, didn't feel. very safe with young children.the free WiFi was just for one gadget, who h wasn't good when three of you wanted to use it,if u book a room for three people, you all should be able to use it. The lady on the desk was miserable, but the man the next morning was very friendly.

Review 98:The price was cheap.

Review 99:Although friendly the staff failed to check us in correctly and at 6am a different member of staff let people into our room to freshen up!!!

Review 100:Staff friendly enough

Review 101:The lock on the door needed repairing, but for 28 quid I ain't complaining. Bargain

Review 102:The toilets looked like they were from a spaceship. A lot of the reviews for this hotel are bad, but for the price it is excellent,I stay in doncaster a fee times a year for events and if you don't want to spend a lot, and don't care about what it looks like too much this is a great hotel. Recommended

Review 103:The overall decor and facilities were poor. The shared toilet and shower facilities were dirty and only one up from a porta-loo

Review 104:The staff were friendly and very helpful. A toast and cereal breakfast was supplied on a DIY service - I suppose you get waht you pay for and it is a cheap stay

Review 105:Everything

Review 106:I have stayed here a lot but on my last stay I did not sleep and the bed was to small there was me my partner and my son in one small bed the room was freezing and the heater dod not work

Review 107:The shared moulded plastic toilets are truely gruesome. If you stay here I suggest visiting a toilet elsewhere before arriving. The bunk-bed was sticky, and the mattress felt like a bed on nails. I itched all night, but had to laugh at breakfast. The plates were clean because we had to wash them ourselves.

Review 108:Leaving this dump behind in the morning was the best bit of all. I chose this 'hotel' because it allowed dogs, at least he got a better night's sleep than the car, marginally.

Review 109:The room was disgustingly dirty, the carpet looked like someone had been sick and then it was left to stain and dry into the carpet. I was never told that the toilet facilities were communal. All in all apart from the staff being very nice this was a shambles for just under £50 for the night.

Review 110:Staff were very helpful

Review 111:When I checked in they had the wrong price for me. Fortunately I was able to prove the price on the reservation. They were keen to take payment on check-in, which I found odd, until I saw the room. I guess a lot of people walk out at that point. There was no give in the bed, there were cigarette burns in the carpet. There were a lot of bolts on the door and windows, but some of these were hanging on by a single screw. The toilet and bathroom were down the corridor, and consisted of a plastic pod about three feet square. There was loud music and screaming coming from a neighbouring room until at least 2.30am. I don't mind basic hotels but this felt unsafe, and what I imagine prison to be like but without the luxuries. I can't comment on breakfast as I left as soon as I woke up.

Review 112:It was cheap.

Review 113:On arrival we were given a room that was already occupied, the guy inside got a fright. We were then directed to a second room also occupied. Took them 25 mins to find us a room even though we booked 3 weeks in advance. The room was small , the two single beds were tiny and extremely uncomfortable. Other guests are allowed to run riot through the hotel.

Review 114:Location was good

Review 115:could do with more than 2 pillows per double bed also a kettle to make drinks would be good

Review 116:for the price its basic but for what I needed one night it did the job plus close to town centre

Review 117:Dirty unsafe people running up n down shouting lots of drunk people playing loud music Shared bathroom was disgusting Room smelt like vomit Chewing gum on the headboard Door wouldn't lock Beds old could feel the springs Backs onto a graveyard Judging by the standards in the hotel room decided to avoid the continental breakfast Overall a scary unsafe dirty experience

Review 118:Nothing at all

Review 119:Noisy guests in the corridor in the early hours made it seem hostel-like. Nowhere to put clothes, no wardrobe or drawers in room.

Review 120:Staff were helpful when I couldn't get WiFi to work

Review 121:Television not working, holes in walls, if this hotel is family owned then I shudder to think how that family lives.

Review 122:Hotel is an absolute dump. There was rubbish strewn all over and a car in car park on bricks.

Review 123:TV in room was not working, Wi Fi was slow to log in but fair afterwards. Hotel is being refurbished & corridors were not very clean. Window blind did not work, lack of coat hangers in wardrobe, soap dispenser was not filled.

Review 124:Location was good for our purpose, breakfast was self service with ample choice. Room was spacious though sparsely furnished. Receptionist did her best to help.2 star

Review 125:Hotel very basic which is fine if you just want to sleep. Bed uncomfortable (you feel the springs of the mattress). Toilet and shower are outside the room to share. They were not very clean. Door handles were lose, almost falling off the door. Hotel is rather loud, you hear the neighbour rooms. In the morning you get woken up by loudly shutting doors in the hall.

Review 126:Hotel is fine if you just want to spend one night on your journey for little money (we payed 29 Eur for two persons with breakfast which is very little for all we have got to know about sleeping accommodations in England). You can park your car for free. The internet works fine. Breakfast is OK (cereals, toast, marmalade, fruit, coffee, tea).

Review 127:I could feel the springs of the mattress which was uncomfortable so it needs to ne replaced. The room was small & very stuffy with poor ventilation. Toilets are quite a distance from the room.

Review 128:Convenient location. Ok as a place to put your head down for a few hours as we were out early & back late.

Review 129:The rooms weren't expensive, but I guess cheap Travelodges have set a certain level of expectation in the budget market. This is an ex-Formula 1 hotel. The bed was clean and comfortable but the room was grubby and had mold on the walls. There was an air conditioning unit but it didn't work and the window didn't open properly. Also the door handle/lock didn't seem very secure although there was a security bar (like a chain) for when you were in the room.

Review 130:The location was good and there was a complimentary breakfast.

Review 131:The toilets and the fact that you had to go down the hall in the middle of the night, plus the group we had in were very rowdy and arguing between them selfs, and banging on the doors which woke us up.

Review 132:The staff were lovely and the price was very good and the breakfast was ok the showers were nice and warm.

Review 133:Lack of basics in room, every time required drink had to go down to main reception Had to ask staff to assist to close window,in the end left open,as room to hot Door to room had difficulty locking asked staff they informed me catch had moved so had to be very forceful Lack choice for breakfast fruit, only bananas

Review 134:I could see my car from my room

Review 135:Room was disgusting, more of a hostel than a hotel. The pictures of therooms on the website are a far cry from the reality of the real rooms.Mould on walls and holes in the walls. Bed was uncomfortable with onepillow. Noise disruption throughout the night which staff did nothingabout dispute us asking them.

Review 136:No ensuite,

Review 137:Staff very friendly, helpful.Rooms need updating but you get what you pay for and ask for ensuite when booking. Location it's £5 in a taxi to nightlife. We all had a very good time. Cheep and cheerful .

Review 138:Beds were a little too low and corridor was full of workmen and tools, but when work is finished this won't be a problem.

Review 139:Newly refurbished room. The help and courtesy of the staff was excellent.

Review 140:It was unclean. Plastic festival style loos that were shared and disgusting. Bunk beds, mould, filthy carpets. Paper thin walls, half under construction. Disabled toilet used as storage cupboard. Shared shower on timer was disgusting.

Review 141:It was cheap
