Reviews for The Dilkhusa Grand Hotel
Review 1:Parking at the hotel had to be pre-booked which we did nt realise. We stayed in a room out the back - as did our friends. These rooms are really dated and dark, with no view. The room was spotlessly clean but the outside window had not been cleaned in a very long time. The pillows were comfortable - but you could feel the slates of the bed through the mattress - and this was the same for our friends. Hence a very poor nights sleep! It does look as if the rooms at the front have been re done so would suggest requesting one of those on booking :)
Review 2:Perfect location - close to theatre and harbour. Really friendly helpful staff, Very clean. Entertainment - which we were n't expecting. Warm and cosy through out hotel - lots of facilities for the older cliental - chair lifts grab rails in bathroom etc. Fabulous breakfast from a very extensive menu. The hotel has a lovely old fashioned sea side feel to it.
Review 3:I tried to get breakfast and asked can I just sit anywhere. All the staff I asked kept saying 'are you a driver' - I said what's that got to do with anything. And they just kept repeating it. I said I stayed with you last night and now I want breakfast to which they replied - but are you a driver. So I walked out

Review 5:Slightly outdated decor and was not exactly what we expected. Certainly not a hotel for a young couple. Average age group was 50+ which we weren't aware of at time of booking otherwise we perhaps would of stayed elsewhere. Breakfast size was tiny and staff quite rude
Review 6:Late check in lady on desk was a fantastic host and extremely helpful. Bed was very comfortable
Review 7:The parking was incorrectly advertised as free, yet on arival I was informed that it had to be pre booked but there was paying areas nearby. Thankfully, for myself, there was a pay and display space outside and I only had to pay a small fee. The room was located a fair distance from reception/entrance, could be a pain for older guests.
Review 8:The staff were exceptionally friendly and the evening meal was outstanding and great value for money.
Review 9:My stay at the Dilkhusa was very disappointing to say the least. The hotel is very run down with bodged decorating and bad repairs. My room was on the ground floor and very noisy as the doors to other rooms were just outside of my room. my bathroom in my room was dirty with the towl rack badly fixed to the wall, toilet holder was a bodged repair, taps had a cover missing and many cracked tiles every where. The lamp in my room had a loose lamp shade which, did touch the live area of the bulb. The bed was clean, and not to bad to sleep on. My main gripe was the breakfast and food area. Breakfast was over cooked cold and greasy, the quality of the produce is proberbly the cheapest you can by in bulk any where. I could not eat any of the cooked breakfast, I was hungry and left the restaurant hungry. However the coffe was ok and hot. Toast was cold and burnt. The staff in the restaurant seemed more concerned about re laying the tables for another service time and not serving the guests that were already in the restaurant I would never return to this run down hotel again and would not recommend it !
