Reviews for Citotel Le Bretagne

Review 1:Basic hotel, OK rooms, normal size for French standards. However, the quality and cleanliness of the hotel was par with a 2 star property.

Review 2:Very friendly staff, good location just oppositde the train station. There is a lift, albeit small.

Review 3:Dated furniture: old chair and table. The neon hotel name outside had only "ETAGNE" lit up which gave a poor impression.

Review 4:Comfortable bed with clean sheets.

Review 5:The bathroom was an awkward shape, probably added later, unusual for a relatively modern building. This made it difficult to sit on the loo. The television only had French language channels, Sky News or similar would be good. Like many French hotels, breakfast was limited, so I did not choose to take it. It will be good when these owners realise that continental breakfast is more than croissant, bread and jam. They should visit the Netherlands or Switzerland and learn.

Review 6:The room was on the fourth floor, with a view over the station plaza. At present this is a construction site for the second metro line, but potentially very good. The room had opening windows, which is good as I like fresh air. The bed was comfortable.

Review 7:The room is very very very small! Facilities are bad, e.g. the shower nozzle is loos, and no cups in the room.

Review 8:The location is excellent, right opposite to the train station.

Review 9:Nothing it was really good.

Review 10:This is a fantastic location for the city centre and the train station. The receptionist was English speaking and very helpful . Being opposite the train station (La Gare) there is also a metro you can use to St Anne that takes you to the old town of Rennes, you then can walk and shop back to the hotel if you want to , or catch the metro back to the train station opposite the hotel. The rooms are very clean and the showers are really good. It's also a great location for restaurants (Try Le Cafe Noir)

Review 11:Inconsistent WiFi, although when i spoke to staff regarding this they did rectify. Rubber sheet on bed made it hot/uncomfortable to sleep.

Review 12:Close to bus and train station (an easy 2 minute walk with heavy bags),town centre and attractions. Lots of restaurants to choose from closeby. Snacks and water for sake in the lobby. Hotel staff nice and courteous.

Review 13:Staff at front desk was maybe a bit too comfortable in making jokes, to a point it got a bit awkward, but besides from that nothing bad to add! ;)

Review 14:Great location, clean and tidy room. Friendly staff at the front desk, speaking both French, English - and Russian !

Review 15:None

Review 16:This Hotel is in a great location, you can go to the metro and take the train to St Annes to the old town, there are plenty of restaurants near the hotel too.The staff are very friendly, the rooms are very clean and the shower was excellent.

Review 17:Noisy in the morning from traffic and metro building site. Floortiles in bathroom loose. Carpet in room not looking very fresh.

Review 18:Position in centre near railwaystation. Good value for money.

Review 19:You really only get the bare minimum in the room, and overall it looks a bit worn down and dingy. The furniture is old and chipped, the carpet is a bit sad, there is no air conditioning, etc. The Internet was mostly fine, but the process for connecting (which you need to re-do every 2 hours or so) can be a bit annoying. Excellent for a pit stop, but I would not recommend it for an extended stay.

Review 20:Extremely close to the Gare (easy for late arrivals/early departures), and also located in a very active square with many cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, bus stations, etc. Bed is comfortable, bathroom is reasonably equipped, and overall cleanliness is good.

Review 21:Wi-Fi didn't work.

Review 22:The staff were very polite and professional. It's a no frills hotel but definitely good value for money. Perfect for a short stay.

Review 23:Nothing really.

Review 24:Staff were helpful. Excellent breakfast. Just across the road from the station. Good value for money. Easy to organize trip to Mont sT Michel from here as you can just walk across the rd to the bus station. Nice cozy bed. WiFi adequate but not fast.

Review 25:I liked the fact that it was opposite the Rennes train station and close to the town and many restaurants, as well as the cost. This hotel is exactly what it says it is and if you are looking for a night just to get some sleep then this is the place.

Review 26:It is a bit noisy, as it is just in front of the train station, there are quite a lot of people. And there are some bars nearby, so it might be noisy up to 2am.

Review 27:It is very close to the train station as well as to the city center. It is perfect if you are coming late and you are very tired.

Review 28:A bit noisy in the morning with the Metro works

Review 29:Good location by the station, and not far from the main areas of the city. Good breakfast; very filling

Review 30:No wifi connection in the rooms, had to stand in the hallway to use wifi. The cleanliness of the blankets weren't so great

Review 31:The location was great! Just one min to the station

Review 32:The Hotel is in a great location opposite the train station and the metro. The staff are English speaking and friendly. The rooms are clean and the shower is fantastic. If you travel by motor bike you can park in the South Gare (Station)for free. The Metro takes you up to the old town by going to the stop called St Anne

Review 33:Located directly opposite the station, which isn't a sleazy area (as it is in some cities!); very friendly staff; good WiFi connection. I was there over Saturday night and it was remarkably quiet - but the Square in front is being excavated for a metro line, so I suspect that on weekdays it's quite noisy.

Review 34:A very pleasant stay, albeit for a night. Located right by train station and within walking distance of the city centre. Staff were very welcoming and was assuring to know reception was manned 24/7. Room was of good standard and bed was comfy!

Review 35:a bit old facilities

Review 36:We had an early train and lots of luggage so we stayed across the street. Very convenient, many restaurants around and short walk to the centre ville.

Review 37:Parking quite costly nearby except on Sunday. Area having some building / renovation near station, so perhaps not currently at its best. (July 2104 )

Review 38:Cheap. Really good for an overnight stay. Food coffee etc nearby. Rooms clean if a little on the small side. Don't expect the Ritz, but you aren't paying those type of prices.

Review 39:Noise at three o'clock in the morning from the room next door.

Review 40:The location was excellent for train travellers and a short walk to the main square.

Review 41:Room was very small with just the basics.

Review 42:Location was directly opposite the train and bus stations. perfect for me. Staff were lovely and kindly switched to English when they saw how bad my French was!

Review 43:No aircon, noisy location, walls in room need to be repainted. No possibility to early check-in, we had to wait to 14h, but the boy took us the luggage.

Review 44:In front of the train station, very useful for early trip. 24h reception, kindly staff. Large comfortable bed, soundproof windows, towels changed every day, hairdryer, new furniture in bathroom. Good free WiFi in room. We didn't pay for breakfast and we don't have any opinion about it.

Review 45:- Wifi doesn't work - Room size (too small) - Price is way too high - I was welcomed by a very nice girl, however, when I was about to do the check out I had to to deal with a rude, arrogant mister. He doesn't have any idea of how customers mut be trated

Review 46:Location

Review 47:Nothing. Yes, there was construction on the square, but it wasn'tloud (at least I didn't find it disturbing). Even though it was nearthe station (sometimes not the best place to be), it didn't feelunsafe or dodgy in the least. There were restaurants all around, twoliterally below the hotel, and another three across the street. For value for money, it's a great spot. Highly recommended.

Review 48:Pretty much everything. I was here for business at the Musee deBretagne, which turned out to be just around the corner. It couldn'thave been more perfect for me. However, probably most travelers aregoing to be there for leisure and it is a short walk to the center ofthe "old city", maybe ten to fifteen minutes. It's apleasant walk, safe and easy. Also, I consider the location across fromthe station as a bonus, because it makes getting to the hotel aftertraveling incredibly easy! The room was clean, painted a bright white that made it feel airy. The bathroom is normal for French hotels: small but efficient. The shower had good pressure and lots of hot water. The bed was firm, the pillows plump. The staff: all very pleasant and easy to work with. They went out of their way to make me feel welcome, which I definitely appreciated. Petit Dejouner (Breakfast): Coffee and warmed milk, baguette, croissant, yogurt, apple sauce, jam and butter, cereal if you want it. It was ample and served with a smile. Also, I have to recommend the creperie across the street to the right, L'epi de Ble: delicious food, attentive staff, good prices. Get the chocolate crepe: delicious!

Review 76:Bathroom door needs fixing and hanging space not wide enough.

Review 84:Great location.

Review 85:Very difficult to find by car. My bgps was confused by one way systerm and road works

Review 86:Excellent for an early morning train. Only 5 mins walk with cases

Review 87:I could not sleep during both nights of my stay because of other people shouting and talking very loudly in the other rooms during the night.

Review 88:Very good location

Review 89:Wifi is a bit slow, but good enough to check your emails/news/Facebook etc. Rennes is too beautiful to stay in the hotel anyway :-)

Review 90:Small rooms, but very clean and with a huge and comfortable bed - PERFECT! The hotel is located 100m from the train- and a metro-station, and 10min walk from the city center - PERFECT! Very friendly and helpful staff - PERFECT!

Review 91:Great location if you're catching the TGV; it's just across the street and you can see it as soon as you walk outside. The staff were very kind and helpful.

Review 92:The hotel needs to be better cleaned.

Review 93:The hotel is a cheap establishment in front of the Rennes train station (gare), which is close from the underground station. Moreover, there are several facilities near by the hotel, for instance, good and cheap options for restaurants, and the breakfast is served early at morning (5:30 am). In a nutshell, the hotel has an excellent cost/benefit.

Review 94:No - diss likes

Review 95:This is an excellent located hotel for easy access to the centre of town. The metro is opposite the hotel. The staff are freindly and very helpfull plus all speak english. The room was very clean and even though the room was on the main street the noise level from traffic is very quite so hada good nights sleep.

Review 96:I stayed here two times...my only complaint is that the second room....aroom on the top/5th floor smelled moldy (Im very verysensitive...most ppl wouldnt pick it up). Asked to change rooms and theygave me another one no problem.

Review 97:Great hotel...good price...nice bar ride becide it....train stationright out front. Rooms truely are soundproof. Seriously...couldnt hearanything and Im a very light sleeper. Beds and pillows supercomfortable.

Review 98:Some of the rooms face to the rubbish bins. Smelly in some times.

Review 99:The staff there are quite nice and the the location is good, very close to the train station.

Review 100:- No air conditioner - A bit noisy (next to the railway station + street construction)

Review 101:- Very good location (next to the railway station) - Very friendly staff - Good value for this money

Review 102:A bit of roadworks out the front spoilt our lie in.

Review 103:Staff were very good. Room was clean and we had a good view over thesquare to the Train station.

Review 104:It is right across the train station and also really near the city center. The stuff was very helpful and friendly and the spoke in English with us (I don't understand why people are saying that in France nobody speaks English, because they do!) they told us what restaurants and pubs are open (it was after 9PM) and what was interesting to see at that hour in Rennes. The room was clean and we didn't miss anything.

Review 105:there was a construction just infront the hotel and they started to work at 8 am, so you wake up because of the noise -there was no climatization

Review 106:Localization, infront of the train station Enough space in the room Shower ok Staff was kind

Review 107:Dated worn decor and carpet. Mattress had a distinct dip and was very uncomfortable. View of parking lot. Hair dryer not functional. meh.

Review 108:Near train station. updated bathroom.

Review 109:The wallpaper in our room was stapled onto the wall as it had fallen off. Some of the wallpaper was hanging off the wall at the top near the ceiling. Would have liked tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge. I wouldn't have booked this room online if I knew I was getting that.

Review 110:Price

Review 111:There is nothing wrong with this hotel, all was good

Review 112:This hotel is in an ideal location opposite the train station and the metro where you can take the shuttle to the old town in Rennes to St Annes station. There is plenty of bars/ shops and restuarants. If you arrive Saturdays there is always a massive maket till 2pm The Hotel room was clean and comfortable. There is also plenty of restaunts around the hotel too. I travelled on my motor bike which you can park for free in the train station carpark.

Review 113:weird choice for air freshener

Review 114:facing just infront of Rennes gares, very convenient, staff are friendly, the room are in good conditions, and price is very reasonable.

Review 115:The hotel is just in front of the train station ( bus station is also at almost the same place), so it's very comfortable for those who arrive late or leave early in the morning. Easy to go to Mont Saint Michel and Saint Malo. The room was clean, wi-fi worked. It was a great place for the price we payed.

Review 116:Decor of the room was a bit bland.

Review 117:Excellent location on same square as railway and bus stations, very good bus and metro connections, or 10 - 15 minutes walk, to the centre. Pleasant, comfortable room, friendly helpful receptionist. If you have a room at the back, don't miss the wonderful array of chimney pots on the older buildings you can see from the window.

Review 118:Thin walls that don't block out noisy guests talking late into the night.

Review 119:location- walk out of Gare Rennes and it is right there. Bus station just beside the Gare and very covenient for getting bus to Mont-St-Michel. Easy walk to rest of the town; lots of food places nearby. Staff- cheerful and helpful.

Review 120:I was a tourist in France... The staff cannot expect me to speak fluentFrench on my first day in France, I tried my best. If they are soparticular on language, they should make it clear at the time ofreservation that non-french speaking people are not welcome.

Review 121:It was a really clean and refurbished hotel and very close to therailway station. The staff were good except that they were veryparticular on language (read below).

Review 122:Only one towel and one glass were provided for two people, but these were provided quickly.

Review 123:The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean and comfortable, though basic.

Review 124:Nothing to complain about. For some the room may seem somewhat small, but for us it was just fine.

Review 125:The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. I liked the fact that the bathroom had a blow drier and the room had big windows, letting a lot of sunlight in. The staff was friendly and allowed us to leave or luggage there for an entire day. It is right next to the train station, which was great for our arriving close to midnight because we did not need to take a taxi. Also, it is 10 minutes' walking distance from the city center.

Review 126:Situated close to the Tvg station and car hire facilities. Comfortable beds, good shower and friendly staff who were all very helpful. 24hr front desk meant that arriving late was not a problem. Staff communicated effectively during booking process and answered all my questions promptly. Our room was situated over a noisy street and. When the windows were closed to exclude noise there was no ventilation and was a little stuffy. However this hotel offered value for money and was an excellent overnight stay after a long trip. We would certainly stay here again.

Review 127:the location is perfect, just opposite the train station and busstation. i used this hotel for a base to travel to saint malo and mont saint michel, so for me it was important to have all transport near to me. many restaurants and shops in neighbourhood of this hotel.

Review 128:1. Breakfast costs extra and its qualify is so-so. 2. WiFi is offered by 3rd party. Hotel staff provides sheet with passwords for you to access WiFi. Some passwords are good for only a few hours. You would need to keep asking for different passwords if you are a heavy internet user.

Review 129:1. Great location. just outside train/bus stations. 2. Good for the money 3. Hotel staff are friendly

Review 130:I frequently stay in this hotel, it's opposiye the Train Station ofwhich has a metro where you can go to the Area of St Annes to the oldtown or rennes where there are some great Bars and Food. The Hotel isvery clean and the staff helpfull and speak english. The power shower inmy room was fantastic and the double glazing kept the noise of thetraffic down so I got a good nights sleep. Outside of the restrauntthere are plenty of restraunts nearby.

Review 131:we liked everything....best part was the location.....it was just in front of the train station....we even could see the clock of the station......the next morning we had to catch our train and the location made our life easy....the facilities were sufficient for us....there was a TV too, but we did not watch as we could use the free wi fi....
