Reviews for Best Western Mount Pleasant Hotel
Review 1:Food was poor - steak sent back twice and service slow - meals did not come at the same time. There appeared to be insufficient staff in the restaurant. One of reception staff was particularly inflexible. We previously stayed in March and had a very different experience. My elderly father was particularly disappointed. It is doubtful that we will return.
Review 2:Sentimental location - spent family events at Mount pLeasant - many happy memories
Review 3:Not a criticism as such. Monday breakfast a bit chaotic, due to numbers and everyone arriving at the same time. But coped admirably well.
Review 4:A very nice run hotel. Princess and Pea suite, spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly, courteous and efficient.
Review 5:Personally found the bed too hard and should have asked for softer pillows which were on offer.
Review 6:Pleasently surprised how lovely hotel and room was. Previous photos of room did not do it justice.
Review 7:As I have just become a BW member I would have expected a little extra curtsey, however none was forthcoming, not to much to ask really.
Review 8:Most of the staff were excellent and polite.
Review 9:Lots of walking to get to rooms, room very hot and no aircon. Asked for sheets and bankets, only got 1 thin blanket and no sheet. Breakfast room very small and crowded, chairs too low for tables, poor buffet selection and a lot of things had run out. The microwaved hot order was awful .
Review 10:Nice big room with comfy bed, lovely bathroom. Public areas inviting and plentiful, lots of parking.
Review 11:No option offered for a bath or shower, and given a room with a shower when a bath was preferred. No lift available to first floor rooms. Not very helpful staff.
Review 12:Booked an executive twin, got a king. Bedside lamp not working. 2 of 3 light bulbs not working in the bathroom. No phone signal. Was told by a member of staff would have to go outside (raining and 5 degs!) to get a signal. Found previous guests full personal details on the form in the information folder, reception staff didn't seem bothered-data protection may think different. Room directly opposite laundry, would have helped feel more quiet if the door was kept closed.
Review 13:Breakfast, after being sat at a table that was not set up for guests. Location for airport good.
Review 14:Waiter could not describe items on the menu.no mobile phone signal
Review 15:Food was great. We had a free upgrade and the room was amazing and huge..would loved to have stayed longer but we were there for a funeral. Would definately stay there again.
Review 16:Evening meal in the restaurant was very "pub grub", expecting a finer dining experience from this sort of hotel. Wine list was excellent.
Review 17:Staff very helpful and welcoming. Rooms and hotel decorated to high standard. Facilities very good.
Review 18:Breakfast was poor although dinner very nice No spa facilities which would have been nice! Might try to book a spa suite if there again
Review 19:Spacious room, very friendly staff, nice dinner
Review 20:Breakfast was awful - horrible coffee, dried out scrambled egg. warmish rubbery toast.
Review 21:Bathroom was lovely! generally public spaces (lounges. dining, etc very pleasant ambiance
Review 22:Very small and cold dinner in restaurant, fortunately the cheese board was good. Only one real ale and that was off!!
Review 23:Large new room with excellent TV and bathroom
Review 24:It was nigh on impossible to get a taxi for local journeys...found location disappointing but if there was provision of local transport would be superb.
Review 25:The rooms, staff, breakfast were all great. Had good nights sleep and found all staff were lovely.
Review 26:Nothing other than the problem trying to sort out the credit card payment initially (booking.com said they did not need the security number on the card).. long story.
Review 27:The staff couldn't do enough for us. The rooms were beautiful and the barman at the function we had was absolutely charming. We've booked to go again next month!
Review 28:Nothing
Review 29:The staff were excellent and a credit to the hotel. Everyone was so helpful and accommodating - nothing was too much trouble. Great food - thanks to the Chef for providing us with a mini afternoon tea. Try the cheese souffle yum, yum. I had already decided to stay again before I left!
Review 30:Bed v uncomfortable for a pregnant lady. I got little to no sleep. I should have brought pillows from home perhaps but didn't realise this. The shower head in the bathroom kept flopping downwards and completely fell off at one point. One of the night light bulbs wasn't working also. We were given the wrong soups as room service and were told they would come off the bill but this hasn't happened upon check out.
Review 31:Staff are excellent and v accommodating. The room was lovely and big and loved the bath :-) The afternoon tea was very nice but the scones were very tiny! The manager at Therapié was lovely and I really liked how my room was across the way from the salon.
Review 32:1 When booking in you should be shown to your room not left to find it your self been that it is a large hotel. Breakfast was asked what I would like and on both days never got what I asked for and asked to sit at a table with very little room very uncomfortable bacon was over cooked could not cut it.
Review 33:The hotel is very clean and fresh
Review 34:i was treated as a nuisance when asking for a table for dinner.fortunately the manager came to the rescue. A man was allowed to drink his beer out of the bottle in the smart lounge!
Review 35:Thank you for upgrading us.we had a splendid room which we enjoyed very much
Review 36:Everything! This was our second stay at the Mount Pleasant, and it won't be our last! Gorgeous rooms, superb food, beautiful grounds and convenient location. Staff are warm, friendly and efficient - couldn't ask for more!
Review 37:Have no complaints. It is a little away from nowhere but that is no major concern
Review 38:The staff, the general ambience, the superb food and the comfort. I was given an upgrade which was much appreciated.
Review 39:Nothing particularly just lacks a swimming pool and a little close to the road otherwise would be a 10 from me
Review 40:All staff in all depts are great Room is warm and comfy and very clean Like the slightly more refined furnishings and toiletries and especially the quality of the bathrooms which are above average for a BW hotel. The food is also above average
Review 41:A lovely hotel and we really enjoyed our stay. Great room, good food and cocktails at the bar. A very good supply of malt whiskey. Well definitely return.
Review 42:Fantastic room. Many hotels would class this as a junior suite. Plush fittings, even offered a choice of pillows and quality. I will be staying here more often when visiting family. Great breakfast and service.
Review 43:We had our wedding here, have visited since and loved this hotel. This time, we went just to get away for a couple of days and wish we had saved our money and stayed at home. We stayed for two nights and on the second day, a wedding was taking place which would have been fine, had the hotel not put us in the room directly opposite the bridal suite. It was so incredibly noisy (not the party's fault, it was their wedding!) We asked to move, and were refused. Cost £198 for two nights. We were just disappointed and wish we hadn't bothered. I would have felt more well-rested at home.
Review 44:Can honestly say that there was nothing that I didn't like! I'm writing this sentence as it's telling me that I have to write more , would have been a 100% 6star hotel if had a pool but not essential just filling up the space to write!
Review 45:Everything, excellent, beautiful hotel! Superb breakfast! Friendly , helpful staff! Luxurious rooms!
Review 46:As I was attending a funeral and had driven from Oxford I wanted to get changed in the room at 1pm but was told early check in is £20 extra as check in is 3pm seemed a bit harsh if the room was ready and waiting!
Review 47:Room was spacious and clean
Review 48:at breakfast we had to ask for butter & only 1slice of toast each was initially brought. They were slow to take our order for cooked breakfast other than that it was fine.
Review 49:Almost everything
Review 50:Really low grade breakfast, which jarred with the quality of the hotel. Slightly odd decoration of public areas
Review 51:Bed was amazing - best night's sleep for ages. Lovely big room with all you need and good dinner in the evening.
Review 52:No really a bad point, but some of the rooms are a bit difficult to find in the maze of corridors. Perhaps better signs?
Review 53:Nice place with friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere. bedroom and bathrooms are massive, one of the better "Best Westerns" I've stayed at.
Review 54:I didn't like that I was sent receipt of booking through post when Iasked 2 staff not to send and low and behold when my birthday surpriselanded on the doorstep in a envelope plastered with mount pleasant mypartner knew what we were doin for her surprise birthday and aftercomplaining to reception. And manager who both said it was there errorand was not even offered a packet of crisp as an apology for spoilingsurprise And after a gud nite at blyth came to bed only to be greeted bythe air conditioning unit kicking in every 15 to 20 mins and notsleeping all nite. Told staff in morning and all I got was there'sisn't owt they wasn't prepared to do so next time I will spend£130 else where obviously they don't want to look after the everyhard working man so in a nut shell not happy and Will not be stayingthere again
Review 55:Not alone
Review 56:That we had to go home :(
Review 57:The hotel grounds and the hotel are wonderful. The staff are very freindly and helpful. The suite we stayed in was fantastic the bath was huge, we had a fantastic time and will return again.
Review 58:Would have been great with a gym and pool. Breakfast could have been improved although was happy to see gluten free breakfast cereals although only a few and hidden, could have had a notice stating gluten free options but that was just a small thing.
Review 59:Lovely hotel, pleasant and helpful staff. Beautiful, comfortable and spotlessly clean room
Review 60:Didn't sleep well as bed not my type, also walls very thin even though we had a deluxe room.
Review 61:Location, general atmosphere and most of all the room was lovely - also breakfast fabulous!!
Review 62:The room decor does need some updating but most of all the bed and pillows are not comfortable. The bed for me was the only disappointment, but everything else was great. I will still recommend this hotel and stay again.
Review 63:The restaurant food, breakfast and dinner as first class - superbly cooked, presented and with a good variety of choice. The staff are exceedingly friendly and provide excellent service, and the hotel feels homely and un-corporate. The bathroom was also new and to an excellent standard.
Review 64:The bedroom carpet had a stain right in front of the sofa, coffee / tea stains on the dressing table and the water bottles had some sticky residue all over the lid and neck. Booked into the restaurant at 7.45 we got shown to our table at 8.20. Food was 'just ok' over cooked scallops over cooked fish the batter was burnt and the chips ( in fact everything ) seemed to have a funny brown colour even the veg. the mains were approx. £15 each so didn't expect the earth but expected something better than a burnt offering, no asked us if everything was ok or id have said but after waiting almost 45mins for our table I couldn't be bothered complaining, it wasn't just our meals that was burnt other peoples looks burnt especially the table near us with onion rings (I think ) they looked cremated. Overall I would stay again but not eat here
Review 65:The overall stay I would rate as good the staff are very friendly especially the bar / restaurant staff the rooms and bathroom are large, I had my nails done in the spa again the staff and products really good, lots of car parking space
Review 66:A long walk, wheelchair ride to the downstairs toilets from the bar and restaurant.
Review 67:Everybody was helpful and friendly. My wife is a wheelchair user and they went out of their way to look after her needs
Review 68:Poor food and service. Breakfast was like a canteen, Second morning there was a queue 20 deep waiting for more food to be cooked. Evening meal friday poor. cant cope when there is a wedding going on as well. Dirty table cloths. Had to wait to be seated for tables. waited five mnutes We stayed in a suite and the show would not soak away so the shower tray filled up. Told reception and they did nothing about it!
Review 69:location. quite rooms .
Review 70:Only thing I can think of, was bedside table with no drawers; a drawer or two by side of bed is always useful. But that's prob my old kicking in
Review 71:Beautiful spacious rooms, huge stunning bathroom, friendly staff, great breakfast xxx
Review 72:Bed was quite firm. a little too hard for an older couple. seniors are prone to hip and back problems so maybe invest in memory foam mattresses. Evening meals were a little expensive too.
Review 73:Room was amazing. Very clean. Great staff
Review 74:Service at evening dinner very very slow and some orders forgotten. However at the function lunch food and service excellentvery
Review 75:Lovely room, very comfortable bed
Review 76:They have a lot of weddings and sometimes some of the younger overnight guests can be a little boisterous. Knock and run on the bedroom doors etc.
Review 77:We have an annual races trip to Doncaster and would never stay anywhere else. It is perfect for our needs.
Review 78:The room air con controls are not the most straight forward to operate. Still the off switch worked faultlessly.
Review 79:An extremely good hotel, good facilities and easy to find. Staff are excellent and nothing is too much trouble.
Review 80:Noisy people in the suit next door, must have been part of a big group, doors slamming well into the night.
Review 81:Beautiful gardens, helpful staff and a lovely room.
Review 82:The beds were a little too firm for our liking. I had to fold my quilt in half and sleep in it like a sleeping bag and my husband woke up with back ache the next morning.
Review 83:The Room, People and Service was amazing. Everything was spotlessly clean, the food was tasty and the people were so friendly and polite it made us book an extra night.
Review 84:I have stayed there a few times recently and can say that all rooms are very generously proportioned. Outside space and surroundings are very impressive.
Review 85:If you attend when a race meet is on, book a taxi in advance otherwise a looooooong walk from Donny!!
Review 86:The building was grand, internally and externally. Our room was grand and immaculate. The bed was sooo comfy. The bathroom was big enough for both of us to use at the same time. The food and choice of wines, excellent also being reasonably priced
Review 87:Everything from the friendly staff, cleanliness of rooms and all public areas to the quality of the food served. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Review 88:The bedside cabinets were very dusty and think the corridors could do with a 'lick of paint'
Review 89:The four poster bed was great and VERY comfortable
Review 90:Food was excellent, huge room and bed room very clean as were all areas of the hotel Staff very helpful and friendly in particular a lovely young lady called Haley who made us feel special on our ruby wedding anniversary she is a credit to the establishment
Review 91:Absolutely fantastic facilities and friendly and efficient staff. We stayed in the thermae suite which was the best hotel room we have ever been in - even beats Dubai!
Review 92:The initial reception was frosty and impersonal (Joanne). She continually talked over us as we enquired re the facilities. This was repeated on checkout when the same lady seemed more intent on giving her prepared 'spiel;' than checking on our welfare. This reception took a good few hours to get over as the receptionist represents the initil contact with the paying customer. appalling interpersonal skills
Review 93:Restaurant staff were professional and friendly in direct contrast to reception staff
Review 94:Absolutely nothing.
Review 95:We stayed at the hotel following an evening wedding party on 6th June '15. Can only say there wasn't anything to dislike. The staff, room, comfort, cleanliness and food were all excellent. Would highly recommend.
Review 96:Nothing.
Review 97:The hotel and room lived up to the high expectations that I had for it. A quality hotel that I would have no hesitation in recommending to others. The staff were friendly, the hotel facilities were superb and the room was simply outstanding. Will be staying again ther in the near future.
Review 98:Restaurant and bar timings on a Sunday are quite short. Also the 24 hour room service menu doesn't offer very many choices.
Review 99:Huge room, decent cot for the baby, nice sized bathroom, nice outdoor area, good bar and restaurant. Friendly staff, very clean and comfortable. One of the better hotels I have stayed in. Will definitely stay there again and highly recommend this to others (especially in Doncaster where there aren't very many decent hotels)
Review 100:Always liked mount pleasant and it says it all when we'd pay to stay only living a short way away, stayed for a friends wedding! Loved it, comfy room excellent staff fab food!! We had our reception here two years ago all rooms are fab!! Can not complain!
Review 101:Only a small 2 x seater settee in room and one chair at desk. When you sat on the settee you sank so low, my shoulders were lower than the arms and very difficult to get out of, when I reported this to reception, my concerns were just brushed away !
Review 102:Friendly staff and plenty of parking
Review 103:I only stayed 1 night so was unable to make full use of the facilities, but from what I saw it all looked lovely. My room was gorgeous and very spacious with excellent facilities and despite being quite a distance from reception I still had full wifi access. Breakfast was lovely and all cooked fresh to order. I would definitely stay here again
Review 104:The location is not great if you want to stay in Doncaster itself - it's a 20 min drive. If you stay here you're not doing much else, but the place is so beautiful you won't want to leave anyway!
Review 105:Fantastic bedrooms - spacious & well furnished. Decor is beautiful
Review 106:Would have been nice to have a later Chechen out to be able to enjoy the room for longer
Review 107:Stunning room, lovely guest areas. We had a family dinner and the staff were outstanding they even swapped a meal when one of the party didn't like it after they misread the menu
Review 108:The chairs in dining room are far too low to sit and eat comfortably at the tables. Our 2 face flannels used a couple of times were removed on Saturday but not replaced. Luckily we always travel with our own!! Bathroom lay-out impractical. Bath slippery and no low-level grab rails and the one & only rail was not well placed to assist getting in & out of bath! Nowhere to put soap/gel etc., in shower! Heated towel rail did not comfortably hold 2 sets of damp towels to enable drying. Menu choices a bit limited - lacking in lighter simpler dishes. Portions all rather too large and 'heavy'. Sunday buffet breakfast very awkward as nowhere to put large plate and lids on hot trays did not stay up so needed hand to hold it up whilst spooning contents...... Impossible! So much to-ing and fro-ing to collect juice, fruit, cereals etc., etc. Gives a whole new meaning to DIY!! Noisy and intrusive wedding guests with badly behaved small children on Saturday & Sunday morning. TV placed too high on wall for such a very low sofa in our room! 'Miles' of corridor to walk to our room when I had asked for easy access for my husband who has a serious hip problem. We were not offered a newspaper.
Review 109:The friendliness and 'versatility' of the staff we encountered at all levels. Our room which was spacious, quiet and provided most of what we needed during a short stay. The attractive setting, grounds etc. The cheese souffles! The convenience for airport. Classic FM available on good radio though operation of radio was sheer guesswork and trial & error! Provision of cosy bathrobes, security safe, decent hairdryer.
Review 110:The room had an overpowering smell of air freshener , could not find the source , very late check in ,too tired to complain .no one asked how our stay had been on checking out .
Review 111:Nice reception area and spacious breakfast room
Review 112:We have stayed at this hotel several times recently. Many rooms are very spacious with modern well equipped bathrooms. On our last stay the room was in an old part of the hotel approached along narrow corridors and the room was rather dated.
Review 113:Very clean. Good food available at all times. Spacious rooms and great bathrooms. Free wi-fi in all areas.
Review 114:Staff not overly friendly, bar staff not very prompt, when we came back from a night out which was no later than 23:00 we waited at least five minutes for someone to come and serve us, when the gentleman came out he was grumpy and rude and made us feel like we shouldn't have been there!
Review 115:Cleanliness,
Review 116:Lovely place. Have stayed in a "normal" room and a suite. Bothwere lovely. The suite was amazing. The hotel is friendly and staff veryhelpful. This hotel is on a par with hotels that are much more expensiveso good value for money!
Review 117:My only bad experience was dinner. I had duck which was very dry and roast potatoes that tasted like they were out of a packet.
Review 118:What I liked most was the overall ambience of the place.
Review 119:Everything from the friendly service to the attention to detail in the rooms, everything feels like it's had a personal extra special touch and makes you feel a million dollars.
Review 120:Wonderful room, so so comfy and clean. Staff were happy, friendly and helpful i have stayed in hotels all over the world and rate Mount Pleasant as highly as any for the above qualities.
Review 121:Bed was not comfy or pillows although I could have changed them but was too tired. The room was near the function room and it was exstreamly noisey til around 230am and then again at around 630am so the £119 I paid was a lot for that room. I feel we should have paid less for the room and at that it was booked 12 months in advance so expected better
Review 122:Facilities were good, room was lovely t
Review 123:We very kindly got a free upgrade to a fantastic room , the staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. We had an amazing stay and can't wait to go back !
Review 124:Too busy so they withdrew the breakfast menu and replaced it with buffet style. Having a fresh cooked breakfast was one of their selling points so to replace it with buffet was disappointing Still charged the same price ! Not too busy for that !!!
Review 125:No remote control for the tv in one bedroom. Some rooms have very high bedside tables which aren't very practical.
Review 126:Excellent food, with several options of where to eat/drink. You can get food anytime of day or night. Huge rooms and great bathrooms. Very clean.
Review 127:Everything was excellent
Review 128:The rooms are so lovely, the complimentary upgrade was very kind, the the food is amazing and the staff are helpful, considerate and can't do enough to help! :)
Review 129:Mattress topper made the bed too hot to sleep in even with the windows open it was too warm maybe a fan in the room would have helped
Review 130:The luxury and comfort of the entire stay from evening meal our suite and breakfast
Review 131:Nothing much to say other than the possibility of training the waiting staff in the restaraunt in food allergy basics. I require gluten free alternatives, the staff were very helpful and there was no issue, they just said they didnt really understand a little training would be valuable.
Review 132:Size of room- huge by modern standards, comfortable and very well furnished.
Review 133:Nothing not to like.
Review 134:Excellent car parking, friendly hospitable reception, comfortable spacious bedroom and a great restaurant for entertaining friends. Ample choice for breakfast. What is there not to like. As an old Doncastrian, I have used this Hotel for years and standards have been consistently maintained,.
