Reviews for Hôtel de la Marine
Review 1:Excellent location. I would say the prime position in this typical Norman fishing village. Staff could not be more friendly or helpful. Always met with a smile at breakfast and dinner. Very comprehensive breakfast and cordon bleu dinner menu. Superb Fish menus – of course as fish has only travelled a few yards from the boats ! Bedrooms clean with towels changed daily. Last stayed at this hotel some 2 years ago since then hotel taken over and a complete refurbishment has been completed. You won’t regret making a booking at this well run establishment.
Review 2:All was first class
Review 3:Very comfortable room , and a truly superb restaurant, wonderful choice of fresh fish every day from the market just across the road, fresh towels every day, a very warm welcome from all the the lovely staff, not to forget the charming owner, this is my most favourite place to visit and we hope to return very soon , steve
Review 4:- It doesn't have reception. We checqued in at the bar counter, inside the restaurant, amongst the people who where having their dinner ! - It doesn't have any lift. We had to carry our luggage throug a narrow stair case up to the second floor. - They close the hotel door early, give you a code and if you forget it you spend the night on the street. - Apart from being old and unconfortable, the bathroom didn't even had a shower curtain. Etc, etc, etc...
Review 5:The location is excellent.
Review 6:Bad WIFI connection on the third floor - had to go down to restaurant level No refrigerator in the room to store water etc
Review 7:We had one dinner in the rrstaurant it was great
Review 8:No lift, public parking could be difficult as no hotel car park. No shower curtain in over bath shower
Review 9:Good position, easy walk to town. Ideal for a short stay. Comfortable bedroom. Excellent value for money.
Review 10:Nothing
Review 11:Great location on front row facing the harbor and ocean with the fish market right outside the hotel. Great small seaside town close to all you want to do and see in Normandy. (Rent a car for Normandy). Staff was very accomodating, the lady especially!!!!' Breakfast was great . OverLl great place
Review 12:The restaurant is superb terrific food at a very good price excellent value ,thankyou Anton and Emmanuel , I have stayed a few times but it's the best it's ever been now,
Review 13:Poor decor. Stained and dirty carpets in the room. General level of cleanliness. Wallpaper peeling off the wall. The only poor continental breakfast that we have ever had in France. So poor that we declined to have it on our second morning and bought bread and cheese in the village instead.
Review 14:The location. Comfortable bed.
Review 15:Lack of parking (none) Had to park in public parking 200 yards away. Wi fi was hit or miss. Room was small. Realize this is a hotel 80 years old. No elevator, steep stairs, narrow hallways and small rooms. Expensive hotel breakfast - 10 euros for fruit, bread, cereal, hard cooked eggs and juice.
Review 16:Location about 5 miles from American Cemetary on Omaha Beach. Location in nice French hamlet on Normandy coast. Right overlooking harbor and fish market. Nice when tide is in, smelly when tide is out as harbor totally drains leaving boats in mud.
Review 17:nothing
Review 18:Nice rooms, Great sea view, staff excellent. lovely Fishing Village, Good choice of restaurants for dinning. Good Location for site seeing in Normandy
Review 19:One room had not been cleaned properly - but this was swiftly attended to. There is no lift - so for my elderly companions this made access to the bedrooms on the 2nd floor hard work. Fortunately we took our own kettle etc to make drinks as there is nothing in the rooms.
Review 20:The location makes this place - we had sea view rooms and it was always fascinating to watch the activity through the windows. The tides ensured a constantly changing vista and the workings of this busy fishing port were fascinating. Superb breakfast
Review 21:Very small room, no hair dryer, no hand towels. Hallways were dark. No one on staff spoke English.
Review 22:Dinner at hotel restaurant was excellent. Port-en-Bessain was a lovely little town, not so touristy as others. Hotel is right on the waterfront.
Review 23:This is really a restaurant that lets out rooms so don't expect hotel service. We tried to order some drinks at 10.30 on a Friday evening. Not an unreasonable request for a 'hotel' but were told in a quite surly manner "No Bar".! Also, take your room key out with you. On returning one evening the restaurant had shut and our room key was on the key board but behind locked doors. No-one to contact so kipped down in a mate's room which was not too conducive to sleep. Expensive breakfast.
Review 24:Location is superb. Price is reasonable. Great view of the harbour when you walk out of the hotel. Lovely little town. We didn't eat in the restaurant except breakfast but it looked quality.
Review 25:The room was very small when using a child's cot and the bathroom needed a shower curtain as the shower went all over the floor, the shower was also placed at hip height which was very strange, also not as much air freshener needed as it was vey over powering to begin with
Review 26:The beds looked new and we're very nice, the view in the morning was lovely and the location next to the local shops and cafés plus the famous beaches was great.
Review 27:Rooms are in desperate need of re decorating as are the bathrooms....for example our curtains were hanging off the rails, carpets were dirty as were the bathrooms. Whilst the price of the rooms are reasonable, the bar and restaurant are very expensive in comparison....for example mules and frites were €16 and the average price we found in other better restaurants was €12 and much better quality. Sorry, wouldn't recommend this hotel or the location as all the bars and restaurants have ridiculously inflated prices for what is at best a 2 star location.
Review 28:Location and quality of the food in the restaurant was good.
Review 29:No lift.
Review 30:Perfect location within the village, on the seafront, close to all bars and restaurants. Also perfectly located, for visits to Beaches and War Graves.
Review 31:Lacking lounge facility to take advantage of superb harbour views. Lack of tea/coffee making facility in bedrooms. (may be a British requirement!).
Review 32:Location & view from Dining Area.
Review 33:no lift - too many stairs to our 3rd floor room the smell of drains from the bathroom invaded the bedroom - plumbing work needs to be urgently undertaken
Review 34:The location Excellent restaurant
Review 35:The room had an odd odor upon first entering. I had to open the windows to air the room out.
Review 36:There was a beautiful view of the harbor and the restaurant below was very nice. The room was spacious. The beds, including pillows, were very comfortable.
