Reviews for Hotel Elizabeth

Review 1:The bedroom and the bathroom were very small, leaving hardly enough room for two people to pass each other.

Review 2:The position of the hotel and the location of the bedroom. The beds were excellent. The staff were very friendly.

Review 3:Enjoyed every minute of our three night stay, even the the weather was perfect.Beautifully clean nothing too much trouble for the staff, food was good, lovely hot toast at breakfast no queueing up to serve yourself with a cup of tea, teapots brought to the table. Not a paper serviette to be seen at dinner, what a change!hope to return again.

Review 4:If we had to complain about anything it would be that we were moved from one room to another room during our stay (which we were made aware of prior to our stay as we were a late rescheduled booking). Both rooms however had a sea view.

Review 5:We particularly enjoyed the friendly relaxed ambience, the excellent meals and the opportunity to mix with guests in the lounge in between meals. Oh, and we loved gazing out to sea from the balcony of our bedroom.

Review 6:We stayed in a smaller side sea view room. Although well equipped, the room was very small but ok for a weekend stay. If staying at this hotel again we would definitely opt for a bigger room.

Review 7:Location excellent, very clean.

Review 8:We liked the welcome we received, the very pleasant receptionist took our cases up to our room while we parked our car. The cleanliness was second to none, and the breakfast was very good, I think the waitress was Elaine, she was superb. A lovely stay altogether.

Review 9:The only small problem was late-night revelers at a nearby (next door) restaurant, but it closed at 11 PM.

Review 10:The Hotel Elizabeth is located right on the strand! The room was quite fine - we wished we could have stayed loner. Our stay there was lovely!

Review 11:We loved our room with the balcony overlooking the sea and we slept with the veranda door open so we could hear the sound of the waves as we fell asleep. The room was a good size with lovely cotton bedding, good pillows, plenty of fluffy white towels and very clean throughout. The breakfast was perfect and the staff were very helpful.

Review 12:The hotel is in a brilliant location right on the seafront and we were able to get a parking space in the hotel car park. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable and clean and we had a great shower. There was a good range of breakfast options in the morning and our special requests were catered for.

Review 13:Nothing

Review 14:Staff were very helpful. Lovely room with sea view. Breakfasts were excellent. Appreciated complimentary coffee and tea served in the lounge mid morning and afternoon. Would definitely use this hotel again.

Review 15:When I booked I was told there was no available parking despite requesting this when initially booked. When we arrived we paid to park for the duration of our stay, to then be told that parking was now available . A courtesy email would have saved us paying additional money to park. I also asked the room maid not to go into our room while we were at breakfast yet when we came back they had been in and cleaned. The next morning we put the 'come back later 'sign on the door , and yet again this was ignored and the room had been cleaned! I have never experienced this before and was disappointed to say the least . When I mentioned it to the desk staff I was told a note would be added for future reference when we stayed! We won't be staying again!

Review 16:The location was fantastic , right on the sea front .

Review 17:The parking! Or rather lack of it. Six spaces for over 30 rooms is inadequate. For a 3 night stay we only managed to get one night's parking. On street parking almost impossible: presumably lots of other people like ourselves plus hotel staff chasing the limited places available. We ended up parking in the longstay public car park (half a mile away) at a cost of £12 for 2 days.

Review 18:The breakfasts! Plenty of choice, good quality ingredients, well cooked and speedy service. Also room immaculate and plenty of space to move around in.

Review 19:I felt it was extremely over priced for the standard of the room, for £164 a night I would expect a proper shower, not a shower head over a bath, and not wallpaper starting to peel off of the wall, and I'd expect better quality bedding.

Review 20:Gorgeous views, the staff were excellent made to feel very welcome nothing was to much trouble perfect, food was divine.

Review 21:Small room for price, fortunately we didn't spend much time as we had a busy schedule meeting up with friends.

Review 22:Location is great, managed to park right outside the hotel which was more luck than anything. Nice room (19) but small, could see the sea at an angle! bathroom modern with nice shower with soap dispenser.

Review 23:The room & bathroom are extremely small for the price. Parking is very limited & you need to book in advance. The bed was extremely uncomfortable.

Review 24:Staff were excellent & very friendly. The breakfast was excellent & plentiful with a good selection of food. The hotel is well located on the sea front with excellent views of the coastline. We had a seaviw with a balcony.

Review 25:Breakfast finished at 9.30 so no chance of a weekend lie in. Likewise dinner finishing at 8.30

Review 26:Wonderfully situated right by the sea and a short work into town. Nice bedroom with ensuite and good sized bathroom

Review 27:We found the bedroom slightly cramped but otherwise satisfactory. The bed was a little harder than we are used to.

Review 28:The staff were very welcoming and helpful and the breakfasts were first rate. Situated on the Esplanade and close to the main shopping area, the hotel was ideally located. Complimentary mid-morning and afternoon refreshments were very acceptable.

Review 29:The sea view room and bathroom were both small, rather too much so.

Review 30:General friendliness and efficiency of the staff. The hotel was extremely clean. The breakfast was very good. Position on the front could not be bettered.

Review 31:Nice hotel in a good location. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our room overlooked the sea and was clean and the beds were very comfortable.

Review 32:The service at the hotel was excellent, staff friendly and helpful. Our sea view room was comfortable and well-appointed. Restaurant service excellent with piping hot food and plates.

Review 33:Some inconsiderate guests in the room above were walking the floor from 6am. As the hotel is old the floors creak, unfortunately this continued for 2.5 hrs. Not the fault of the hotel, but it did spoil my sleep and my stay.

Review 34:The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast is definitely to be recommended.

Review 35:Not given information about wi-fi, morning coffee or afternoon tea when we checked in.

Review 36:Lovely view from balcony window. Room quite comfortable. Comfortable beds and pillows Extra tea-bags and milk etc available at the desk. No need to trouble staff.

Review 37:It would have been helpful if we were given a password for the wi-fi on arrival. The pillows were rather flat and uncomfortable

Review 38:The hotel is right in the sea front and we were able to park in earlier than our check in time which was handy. The breakfast service was very good and staff were helpful.

Review 39:We were delighted by the refurbishment work done over this past winter - in particular, the lovely new lift and the now first class wifi in our room. Makes the Elizabeth even better.

Review 40:The bed was not very comfortable. There was a raised spring right in the middle.

Review 41:We liked being able to park on-site. The room was small but comfortable and clean. The breakfast was good and we liked the afternoon tea and morning coffee provided.

Review 42:The hotel was in an excellent location close to the beach and high street. I stayed with my 5yr old daughter. We had a great time on Sidmouth beach and a few other beaches close by. The hotel had friendly helpful staff and our room was beautifully clean and lovely and warm for February.

Review 43:Breakfast times were early for Sunday. Check out time 10.30 but then found housekeeping in our room making the bed before we checked out! The water for the bath was not hot As the room overlooked Dukes when closing time came it was noisy if you have the window open..

Review 44:The staff were very helpful especially regards to parking as it is difficult to get parked near the hotel being on the esplanade. We were given a side sea view room- late booking Good breakfast selection including vegetarian & a lovely sunny sea view lounge to read the papers after.

Review 45:For the price of nearly 100£ there were no toothbrush and toothpaste. When my boyfriend asked reception they said they had none so he had to run out to town at 10 pm when he came back and forgot to buy toothpaste he gave in and ask a staff and they gave him the set. They must have forgotten to put it in our room!!

Review 46:The location was fantastic we got a sea view room and the receptionist took care of all booking forms we got our keys pretty quickly. The breakfast was fantastic, comes with many choices!

Review 47:No complaints

Review 48:A comfortable lounge and terrace overlooking the sea. Meals ,tea and coffee services excellent. Friendly staff all working as a team. Good parking facilities. Sister hotel next door with special meal offers. Unspoilt town with individual shopping.

Review 49:The room was rather small and not much space round the bed. The balcony needed a clean.

Review 50:The location, the sea view, the balcony and the very helpful staff.

Review 51:Rooms cramped. Beds uncomfortable. Sheets clean but some old stains. Room to back noisey . Room to front noisey with cars racing up and down from 1 am on a Saturday evening.

Review 52:The view from the front of the hotel.

Review 53:Lady from the reception , on day of our arrival was very unfriendly and not ready to help. Instead of a double room we got a single one with a king size bed sqweezed inside it.Next day , after complaining, we eventually got what we payed for in the first place.

Review 54:Location

Review 55:You need to carry your luggage upstairs

Review 56:A charming hotel reflecting a bygone era although many mature age travellers appear to be still enjoying sitting in a hotel lounge by the seaside for extended stays.

Review 57:not enough parking and although booked a few weeks in advance still could not park my car at hotel car park for my full stay and had to pay £12 to park overnight elsewhere with no security, also told i could park on road along hotel but you have no chance, would put me off staying here again.

Review 58:lovely hotel in a great location, breakfast was 1st class.

Review 59:The room was cramped and at the back of the hotel overlooking the neighbouring hotel and outside space which became noisey in the evening. The cost of the room did not represent value for money.

Review 60:The staff and the food were unbeatable!

Review 61:Rooms are a little small Parking is a major issue for this hotel. We stayed two nights and only had the first night reserved parking. We were told we would be able to park at front but it was so busy. We had two choices, pay £12 on a nearby pay n display or drive round until a space became available. Either way not good!

Review 62:Good Location - right on sea front. Food - Excellent Staff - Very friendly Quiet at night If you don't drive this is an ideal hotel as it is near everything.

Review 63:Having to pay as much for one person as it would have cost for two... This is always a problem for single travellers which needs to be addressed in this country

Review 64:Position of room on sea front with balcony for folk procession in evening

Review 65:The room facilities could do with some improvements to facilitate all customer needs e.g. no grab hand rail on the wall in the shower for safety for my elderly mother. Safe did not work and wi fi connection was impossible. TV suffered from some interference too.

Review 66:The food was excellent quality with a variety of choice and very good value for the pre booked price. Hotel location could not be better. Having complimetary morning coffee and afternoon tea was a lovely touch as was water in the room. Liked that the room had an iron and board plus a decent hairdryer.

Review 67:Nothing.

Review 68:All the staff were very welcoming and friendly, not one of them could we fault, our rooms were very comfortable and well looked after.which made our stay lovely..

Review 69:Welcoming, attentive and informative from the reception team to all the staff. All rooms and facilities well appointed and spotless, but retaining its regency appeal yet bright and roomy. Hearty Breakfast choices made to order keep you going all day visiting this hidden gem of a seaside resort.

Review 70:no body told us that real ale could be had in the next door hotel which also belongs to the same folk. all the y had was FIZZ stuff!!!

Review 71:the friendly nature of all we met.the hotel staff could not be more helpful

Review 72:Nothing!

Review 73:Staff were so helpful - they did everything the could to make us feel welcome. The view was stunning and the room was luxurious, comfortable and very clean. There was a wee lift which was invaluable to take my elderly mum up and down from the top floor.

Review 74:The room was cold at times and there was no heat. It would have been better, considering the elderly, to have been able to turn the radiator on for a while to make the room more comfortable.

Review 75:Hotel staff were very helpful.
