Reviews for Hotel Arcantis Le Voltaire

Review 1:Nothing not to like!

Review 2:Quirky, comfortable, welcoming to us and our dogs, breakfast superb..fresh squeezed oranges, dozens of choices of coffee and teas, brilliant value....recommended highly

Review 3:The double room had toiletries and towels for only one. The bar closed at 8 pm and there were no bars or restaurants in walking distance. Cool reception from staff.

Review 4:Small but well appointed. Very modern bathroom. Immaculate.

Review 5:location is good only if you are passing Rennes, you need a car and gps to find it, but that's clearly explained in the description of the hotel, so I can't say it's a downside at all.

Review 6:very clean sheets and towels, very clean bathroom, well maintained hotel even if on the older side. excellent breakfast, for a budget hotel to offer freshly squeezed orange juice and nespresso capsuls coffee and freshly baked croissants and breads is more then I could have asked for!

Review 7:Told them I had dogs but on 4th floor good job there was a lift.

Review 8:location and building with nice grounds round it. Arrived very late but the keys were made available even though the recetion had closed.

Review 9:No internet in the separate building.

Review 10:Spacious studio with 3 rooms in a separate building. Free parking. Highway is easily reachable. Perfect buffet breakfast.

Review 11:Parking area was minimal and unsecured. Tiniest lift ever! 2 people = mega squeeze! No one could be found in the morning (1030) to check out.

Review 12:Helpful receptionist who recommended sights in Rennes, comfortable room and very large bathroom, good wifi in room. Décor... most interesting and unique! Scary on the landings when the lights were out! Excellent rapport prix/qualité.

Review 13:It's quite far away from the city centre without a car. The hotel was rather old and worn down, but overall a comfortable stay.

Review 14:The price was unbeatable. It was quite nice considering the low price.

Review 15:No shower curtain for bath/shower resulting in very wet bathroom floor. Otherwise no gripes.

Review 16:Quiet location, comfortable room, very friendly guy in charge (who recommended fabulous restaurant in city centre) and good breakfast. Would stay again if passing through Rennes.

Review 17:Ask for a room at streetside, in summer less hot and you will not be kept awake until 2.00 o'clock from "fiesta" noise from the terrace/bar and the constantly color-changing outside floodlight which illuminates your room.

Review 18:Close to town, cheap

Review 19:The description of the location is inaccurate. It is not .5 mile from the station, but close to 2. It is a considerable walk to points of interest. Also, some of the staff swemed disinterested in the guests.

Review 20:The room itself was nice as was the hotel.

Review 21:Travelled in summer, no aircon or fan but we had large balcony doorswhich we could leave open behind the shutters which helped with coolnight air so pretty good anyway

Review 22:Very helpful staff, were arriving late due to traffic issue, quick calland it was of no worry to them. Breakfast was sensational value formoney compared to a lot of other places who charge twice as much formeagre offerings.

Review 23:The owner/manager gave us a great experience, offered excellent customer service, our children played tennis while myself and my husband had a drink in the bar. We found the hotel quirky and interesting and would certainly recommend it to friends.

Review 24:when we arrive, our room wasn't completely ready but not that important.

Review 25:The decoration of hotel was wonderful, quite cool (not expected from a hotel in Rennes), not that much easy to find but very close to bus station, they don't speak English but with very basic french you can deal with everything.

Review 26:We booked a family room for one night and were told it would be 2 adjoining rooms and then for 2 nights we had booked a double room .We got a 3 bedroom house in the hotel grounds with a private veranda and fully equiped kitchen whats not to like !!!!

Review 27:It was a it tricky to find this hotel - a it off the beaten track but well worth the effort.

Review 28:Good parking. Retro ambiance! (a bit like a walk down memory lane but not at all tacky. We loved the excellent breakfast.

Review 29:Good if you have a car, otherwise 2 buses required to get to town and the train station. Grocery store was quite a walk away.

Review 30:Good value, quiet neighbourhood.

Review 31:The rooms are quite big. The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood. It's close to a bus stop and the bus goes often, so you can easily get to the city centre.

Review 32:A little far from points of interest in the city.

Review 33:The staff was very friendly, the wifi was fast and easy to use, and the decoration was interesting. We arrived past check-in, and the door was unlocked with a note written to go on ahead to our room- a great help. Great price.

Review 34:A bit hard to find at first

Review 35:Basic hotel not far from city center with bus connection, clean room, friendly staff, free parking and wifi (slow though), overall I would recommend this hotel.

Review 36:There was only 1 bath towel in our double room which was booked for 2 people so I had to ask reception for another. The bathroom had a very small raised shower with no door, just a very long shower curtain that kept getting stuck to me so you have to be careful not to spill. The tv must have been on a timer as it kept turning itself off automatically whilst we were in the middle of watching it and then we weren't able to turn it back on for a while and it also came back on in the middle of the night when we were sleeping. We stayed for 2 nights and got woken up both mornings by some workmen working across the road and the walls were paper thin so we could hear every time people in other rooms showered, used the toilet and walked around. Glad I brought my ear plugs! The receptionist suggested we take the lift up when we arrived but I was happy to take the stairs which was a good thing as I thought I would try the lift since the receptionist was keen for me to do so but I tried to get into the lift by myself and it was very small for me with my luggage let alone for the 2 of us so if you find it difficult to get up stairs be warned! A single person could get in there and possibly 2 at a squeeze! The decor was a little over the top and there was a creepy dummy on the second floor!

Review 37:Comfortable bed and nice staff. Fairly small room but ok for 2 nights but I wouldn't have been happy to stay for longer. Quirky décor which was... interesting and I did like the picture near the bed. Happy with the free parking around the back! Wifi was ok but cut out now and then.

Review 38:Nothing

Review 39:We had a very good stay at this hotel. The décor is really interesting and the staff were very helpful. It is in a quite location with just a brisk twenty minute walk to the wonderful old quarter of the city. Great value for money with the added benefit of secure parking.

Review 40:A bit far out from centre but good bus service.

Review 41:The hotel is nice and clean with rather small bedroom and en suite. The breakfast is excellent with wonderful freshly squeezed juice from a cool machine. Breakfast room is bright and cheerful. Parking a big plus. Value fro money

Review 42:When we arrived on the Friday at about 9.30pm bar was closed and on the Saturday the bar closed at 9pm. A bit early, especially as there are no other bars nearby.

Review 43:Great location if you have a car.

Review 44:Staff were not very welcoming and poor at giving directions Food choice poor Breakfast expensive compare to other hotels we used. Returned after eating out at 8.30 and bar closed and no hot drinks facilities or lounge to sit in.

Review 45:price of room

Review 46:Nothing I do not like

Review 47:Stayed here on many occasions budget hotel, small room but has the quality bedding of a luxury hotel, plenty of hot water, very clean a perfect ten considering the price....best deal in Rennes I have stayed at many others this is the best. Plenty of free parking.

Review 48:No restaurant - nearest food was a MacDonalds 10 mins walk away - err, no thanks! There was also a rather indifferent Italian restaurant a few doors along which is where I ended up eating. If the hotel offered a simple evening meal - I am sure they would do well.

Review 49:Clean hotel helpful staff

Review 50:Lots of stairs and lift was very small, only 3 people max OK for us but may be difficult with wheelchair.

Review 51:Easy access to access/find from ring road, close to football staduim and can walk in to centre (15min). Plenty of private parking and helpful staff. Rooms were compact but comfortable, clean and reasonably quiet. Super price for our one night stop.

Review 52:The room was small but having a Juliet balcony helped. Breakfast was a bit confusing with the general layout but OK For the price

Review 53:The price was excellent, plus free parking, friendly staff, and very clean room. A bus stop just a short walk got you on to a bus to the centre of Rennes

Review 54:a bit noisy if you have a street-facing room. but not a deal-breaker and we could deal with it alright.

Review 55:fairly good location, clean room and bathroom. overall good experience.

Review 56:Not close to city but close to major shopping centre and peripherique. We booked Family Room and got 2 Doubles. Our boys are too young to go on their own so we had to split up. mum with 1 and Dad with the other.

Review 57:Excellent Manager. Very helpful with good english. Lots of parking. Quiet. Quirky and fun.Our boys loved its wackiness! Tennis courts to play on at 9am.

Review 58:Couldn't locate hot milk for breakfast coffee but nothing else.

Review 59:Bedroom was compact but clean. Comfortable bed. Location close enough to walk into Rennes. Quirky decor and exhibitions

Review 60:It was not clean enough. The windows were not cleaned. There is a lack of fresf air.

Review 61:The house is outside of the hotel, so we had a large place only for us (family room), there was a room per people. So it was very quiet. There is a kitchen and two bathrooms.

Review 62:One pillow so bring your own if you like more. Wifi ok but very slow. Breakfast extra € but good choice, although we came at 9:10 am and they weren't helpful at first to give us a clean plate to use. Staff a little serious. For some the 25 mins walk to centre or €9 taxi could be a negative. But it wasn't a problem as we liked the walk each time.

Review 63:Free parking. Price. Cleanliness. Hair dryer. Big window let in air so it wasn't too hot at night. Good choice at breakfast for cereals, drinks, cake, etc. The decor reminded me of staying at a grandparents place but I liked that look. Didn't expect fridge or kettle for that price.

Review 64:Just a bit far from the center if you want to go walking with small children. the owners is a little apathetic

Review 65:I liked the helpful and polite ownser´s daughter. She really tried to helped us with some issues we had there. If you are an Traditional America Fan you should look for accomodation at the Hotel. a very calm and quiet hotel

Review 66:could have done with a kettle in the room and location meant having to catch bus into the centre; not at all difficult, stop's close by, cheap and frequent.. but didn't know this when I arrived so getting there meant a long, hard walk from the train station.

Review 67:everything was spotless, staff were lovely and helpful, even very kindly called me a taxi to pick me up from my onward arrival in St Malo to Dinard airport.. and bed was very comfortable! A Boulanger at the end of the road for snacks.

Review 68:It is a little far from the city center but it is easy to reach with a bus. The instruction for late check-in was not clear enough for people not speaking French.

Review 69:Lovely decoration and arrangement of the room and building. The hotel is located in a quiet and peace area. Very worthy for such a reasonable price.

Review 70:poor wall isolation

Review 71:Location, fair price, private parking

Review 72:Creepy forniture, including mannequins at the floor, which are quite scary in the dark. Small rooms.

Review 73:Great value for money hotel. Staff were helpful and it's great to have onsite parking.

Review 74:Everything!

Review 75:Good location. Quiet. Friendly manager. Nice bar.

Review 76:a bit small and a little far away from train station

Review 77:Nice room and we entered before standard time

Review 78:Good location, friendly staff, parking in front of the door. Good wifi.

Review 79:The mannequins that decorated the second and third floor were a bit creepy.

Review 80:Very comfortable beds.

Review 81:Alway clean best value in the city stay here three times a year

Review 82:Excellent value for money.

Review 83:Staff attitude and poor mattress.

Review 84:Nothing, apart from cleanliness

Review 85:Nothing to dislike. We'll use it again

Review 86:Good welcome Efficient Accommodating Clean Quiet Good parking. Excellent value.

Review 87:out of 3 places I booked for a long journey this was the cheapest in price and the best all round. Very easy to find and great value.

Review 88:Very grumpy and generally unhelpful manager.

Review 89:Generally okay for the money

Review 90:Local facilities e.g. bars, restaurants are few.

Review 91:Excellent value for money. Clean, bright and comfortable. We would stay again.

Review 92:A little inconvenient for the centre.

Review 93:Clean, interesting decor, nice staff.

Review 94:far way to the centar

Review 95:good accomodation

Review 96:broken shower

Review 97:I miss air conditioning

Review 98:New manager is very helpful and friendly. The staff are also courteous and helpful

Review 99:I used this hotel to transit to St Malo, it is close to Mont St Michel also. Clean, smart and well priced

Review 100:patron sympa

Review 101:hotel staff service ...were top

Review 102:Nothing at all

Review 103:Staff very helpful

Review 104:Wifi working is important if you advertise it. "It works with the Apples is not a good excuse for it to not work"

Review 106:Clean and bright

Review 107:Too hot at this season

Review 108:Good facilities, fast wifi, large supermarket around

Review 109:it was all fine
