Reviews for Watermouth Lodges

Review 1:Staff uninterested, been here twice before and they have allways been great.

Review 2:Nice clean accomodation , have been twice before but this lodge was no where as good as previous ones

Review 3:The network reception was really poor. There was no mobile reception from the lodge.

Review 4:The bath was comfortable and was a hood size. The location was perfect for the occasion.

Review 5:Staff not polite not welcome got told not meant to be open lights all of in reception area. Dirty bed sheets dirty walls rubbish in drawers laminate flooring coming up in living area. Went to tell staff twice and doors locked and all lights of very poor stay and not helpful staff through email. It was my finance birthday and not one happy birthday. We even had to walk on a muddy water logged road to where we was staying and all our clothes was wet through and in mud.

Review 6:Nothing bad time

Review 7:power cables, the steps,no food facilities, decking area lovely needs looking after

Review 8:The use of the swimming pool etc, didnt know how to get into the ball area, noonee to ask,our bathroom looked amazing but we had a jacuzzi bath that didnt work,a bit disappointing, the log cabin was lovely though, saw a badger, right by the castle

Review 9:Gas Oven didn't work properly, was a bit of a struggle to get it to light.

Review 10:Beautiful location, lodge was great, shame the surf was flat this weekend!

Review 11:could do with some lights on the approach gates from the main road, not easy to spot, makes it a last minute turn. The castle is lit up but the gate entrance needs to be. Minor thought X

Review 12:Staying in October. The lodge was always warm, we turned ch off because of the wonderful insulated buildings. Everything you would expect from a self catering. large sitting area.

Review 13:NO mobile signal at all, and WIFI just restricted to a single Hub point, for the all of the park.

Review 14:Relaxing place. Very calm and located in a breathtaking place

Review 15:Inside of drawers in living area smelt very musty/damp, didn't want to put anything in them. Drawers in bedrooms weren't quite as bad but still wouldn't want to put clothes in there.

Review 16:Great location for us and accommodation was above expectations in terms of comfort. Views in surrounding area were amazing.

Review 17:As it was out of season the reception was shut when we got there so nobody was there to greet us. We didn't see any staff until we handed the keys back other than that a lovely place to stay. We stayed in the palm was very pleasant and lovely bath.

Review 18:to use the use of the jaccuuzi you had to pay and this wasn't made very clear or mentioned in the site information folder placed in the cabins, other information could have been made available to make the stay more enjoyable i.e instructions on how to use all the appliances cooking , heating etc there was also a lack of user fiendly.safety equipment especially anti-slip mats in the bath shower and also strategically placed grab rails again in the bath room and close to front door at top of cabin access steps

Review 19:we liked the location and considering the late date of the break the site facilities were a little sparse, however we were able to have meals on site and a drink in the evenings. it would have been hice to have a lounging area with comfortable seating. the swimming pool was clean and well mainained and the jaccuuzi made the experience all the more enjoyable

Review 20:Swimming pool was freezing and bar was closed, staff member Jumped on us to say we hadn't paid which I was expecting to do on arrival.

Review 21:Lodge was big and beds comfy

Review 22:The indoor play area was very poor and nothing really worked in there

Review 23:Lovely area right next to castle, cabin was a great size and the bed was very comfy.

Review 24:Very dark at the reception area at night so the note left for us on the door (very much appreciated as we arrived way after check in time) wouldn't have been seen if we hadn't had a torch.

Review 25:It was very quiet and peaceful and no one came to bother us. Easy access to very nice seaside towns.

Review 26:The bed was uncomfortable - not just to our preference. The springs creaked / dug in and semi-locked / unlocked each time you rolled over. General condition of the property was 'run down.' Bathroom radiator rusty, plastic caps to cover screw heads missing. Lounge settee uncomfortable. Quite expensive accommodation compared with hotel / b&b.

Review 27:Location was excellent - staff were polite. Towels and linen first rate. Swimming pool (indoor) good. Dining table and chairs good quality and comfortable.

Review 28:Outdoor pool was closed due to a problem with the heater which was a shame but used the indoor pool which our son loved-especially as there where complementary floats and swimming woogles he could use.

Review 29:Food in the onsite bar was excellent value for money we ate there both nights of our stay. Lodge was spotlessly clean and in a beautiful location. Park and zipwire were favourites with our 6yr old son.

Review 30:The mattress on the bed caused us to continually roll to the middle. It definitely needs replacing .

Review 31:Quiet clean tidy well maintained site and accommodation. Surrounding coastline very accessible and attractive.

Review 32:The staff, whilst not rude, were not particularly friendly or overly helpful. A smile wouldn't have gone amiss!

Review 33:Lovely quiet location with beautiful scenery. The lodge itself was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The on-site play park was a winner with my son and the restaurant food was good and very reasonably priced.

Review 34:The WiFi is only available around the reception area. The television reception was intermittent.

Review 35:It is an excellent location commanding great views. We used it as a base for walking a section of the SW Coast Path, and it was very practical and cheap.

Review 36:Two much chlorine in spa- burning eyes. Edge of pool broke ended up hurting 3year old daughter. Pool- freezing Broken sauna, arcade machines broken and not working. Lodge not ready at check in time. Unhelpful staff. TV hard to use. No instructions for dvd.

Review 37:Location

Review 38:No wifi, we had to check out at 10:30 which was too early.

Review 39:I liked the space of the apartment and the cleanliness, very quiet area which was nice and the view was amazing

Review 40:Not the most comfortable bed, but just about except-able. all facilities including restaurant were closed on a Friday night.?not sure why.

Review 41:location was lovely, lodge was very nice, very well equipped ,everything you needed was in lodge waiting for you, beds made up and fresh.decking a lovely idea. keys waiting on our arrival.robes and towels lovely. perfect for a nice relaxing rest, Great place to escape for some peace and quite, would deff go back.thank you

Review 42:Did really appreciate having to strip all the beds and put out rubbish etc for only staying 1 night but small compromise for such a lovely lodge.

Review 43:Fantastic accommodation, self catering cabin paradise 43. Great location as we stayed there for a wedding that was in woolacombe only 20 minutes away. Good value for money and really comfortable bed!

Review 44:Building work was being carried out right outside our lodge. A very noisy digger was digging up part of the car park, which spoilt what could have been a very relaxing quiet break.

Review 45:I can see someone with mobility problems may not like the walking and slope to the lodges. We have a child with mild mobility problems but she coped well with the steps and slopes back to our lodge. Ilfracombe had some nice restaurants and parking was £1 an hour so not too expensive.

Review 46:Small and compact accommodation we stayed in Linden 33. Bed was a little marshmallow like. We prefer a box sprung mattress with support. Food and drinks were fairly priced and portion size was good. Didn't go in the pools but looked clean and tidy. We went to the cascades at Ruda instead.

Review 47:Nothing!

Review 48:Fantastic facilities: indoor and outdoor pool and play areas, restaurant with takeaway. dvd library, pool table and other games. Right by the coast and Watermouth castle. Accommodation clean, well equipped and spacious-lots of room for our toddler to run around. good storage in the bedrooms and the kitchen. with a young family you usually struggle for space but not in this case. Nice patio area with table and chairs and grassed area around each lodge with a washing line.

Review 49:Would have been nice to have wifi in the lodge. The lodge was dusty in areas on top of wardrobe, Curran polls ect but nothing to complain about!

Review 50:Fantastic location right next to the castle, pool was quiet we were the only ones using the pool facilities at the time. The lodge was spacious

Review 51:The lodges are beginning to show their age and the maintenance has been neglected. The lodge we rented had ample room and had all the equipment needed for a stay but it was clear that some of the white goods and furnishings need replacing.

Review 52:The location is great and very relaxing. The site is ideal for those looking just to chill out or those keen to explore the Devon and Cornwall beaches.

Review 53:I stayed in Beeches 5. It was very nice and stylish, however, comfort didn't seem a priority. The sofas were unbearably uncomfortable, as were the chairs, and it was all a bit too compact. The welcome from the owners lacked in customer service and the drive to the property is terrible. The road needs resurfacing and is a hazard if you have low bodywork on your car. Also zero phone signal here and no wifi. Be ready to lose all communications. The only other gripe is no decent restaurants anywhere near this accommodation. Any you will find are all too booked up, closed or just no good.

Review 54:The location generally as you are literally next to Watermouth Castle, close to the South West Coastal path, lovely walks, and many harbours, coves, beaches etc. Ilfracombe and Woolacombe not far at all. This is a great place to be in the daytime, not so much the evening.

Review 55:Further out from Ilfracombe than we thought. 10 minute drive into town. Bar on site only open until about 8.30 as not enough people on the site. Didn't see any staff. Got there about 4 pm after long drive and no reception staff. Notice on reception door telling us keys for lodge were on table in lodge. Got an email before we arrived to tell us payment in full had been taken. Swimming pools not open (paid full amount for lodge only to have very limited amenities even though it was first week in June) If you wanted a drink or meal had to go off site in evening.

Review 56:Lodge was clean and comfortable and in a lovely location.

Review 57:Difficult to hand out clothes on the line as the grass needed cutting Also would be nice to have free wi-fi in the cabins

Review 58:Lovely view and very comfortable Staff very helpful

Review 59:the outside pool was empty, the play area was taped off, the spa was out off order, and the clubhouse/restaurant was closed tues, weds, thurs, evening, not good as we arrived sunday and left Thursday.

Review 60:the location was good very peaceful surroundings, the lodge was very nice.

Review 61:Restaurant was shut for the 3 days we were there although understand it's early season

Review 62:Great location.lovely lodge.easy to park.great views. Close to ilfracombe.

Review 63:The grill on the cooker was next to useless and the oven wouldn't ignite.

Review 64:Staff were great, as was the location and the chalet had everything we needed.

Review 65:Yeah there's no wifi, the sofa is the most comfortable and the sauna wasn't working but if your a normal family like us your not staying there your there in the morning and then the evening so it was ideal.

Review 66:It was a lovely peaceful location, swimming pool was nice and was a short bus journey from iffracombe. We used it as a base so it's ideal, supermarket not far and it's all you need.

Review 67:The lodge was spotless, comfortable and very warm. It is a great location and a short driving distance to Ilfracombe, Woolacombe, Combe Martin and Lynton and Lynmouth.

Review 68:this doesn't effect us, however I wouldn't recommend this sight for people with difficulty walking.

Review 69:it is comfortable, spacious and quiet, it has good amenities, and is just a short drive from a large supermarket. it is close to lots of attractions

Review 70:the bar and restaurant were closed,

Review 71:we have been here a few times out of season for the peace and quiet. The jacuzzi or the spa bath add to the tranquillity, well worth it.

Review 72:Just a few niggles; the bathroom sink plug did not work; the laminate flooring was lifting and uneven in places; the kitchen blind did not work; the DVD player did not play; very little room to manoeuvre round the bed in the main bedroom; little drawer space

Review 73:The Lodges are in one of our favourite locations

Review 74:Indoor pool area, spa and changing room were very tired and could do with refurbishing.

Review 75:The staff were very friendly and helpful, any maintenance was carried out quickly and efficiently and with a smile.

Review 76:Only negative I have was the blinds were thick with dust and bedrooms are very small.

Review 77:Close to ilfracombe & Woolacombe. Lodge is well laid out and beds made up on arrival. Parking next to lodge with a few steps up (I need crutches to walk and they wasn't a problem)

Review 78:No phone signal at all and wi-fi only available whilst sitting in the bar area

Review 79:Cleanliness of the lodges was brilliant, the location is amazing, the staff were really friendly and helpful.

Review 80:Whilst we did not use the main reception/bar/restaurant area often, I did think the staff could have been more attentive. Awareness of guests in the area and a quick response was rare.

Review 81:Excellent use of space within the Lodge. Lovely bedding although the pillows were hard.

Review 82:The mouldy shower curtain, dirty toilet roll, dirty sink and bin! Need I go on. No wi-if, no TV signal. And to top it off Very very rude staff!!! Avoid unless u want to be talked to rudley by staff and have to take your own toilet roll as they only give you one for your whole stay and no washing up liquid so u can actually clean!!!

Review 83:The location is great to visit many places in Devon!

Review 84:10 oclock 'out' time is a little early if you want a last dip in the pool which opens at 9pm. Showers at the pool were a little too hot for children.

Review 85:10 year olds loved the table tennis and swimming pool. Great location and really good value for money. Chalet was clean and completely adequate for what we wanted.

Review 86:Internet access only available sporadically. And phone access. But this was a problem all over Ilfracombe.

Review 87:The accommodation was very spacious. The facilities were great. Lovely stay

Review 88:The floor was very dirty in our bedroom. There was a dishwasher tablet half used in the diswasher and dirty tee towels in the washing machine. No egg cups. The metal rim separating the kitchen froom the sitting room was lifting and my son cut his foot on it. On the last day we had no hot water or heating. The bar staff were very very slow and not very helpful at all!

Review 89:Location Zip wire

Review 90:Nothing

Review 91:The accomodation and facilities, there were even tea towels and a dish cloth. Hearing the bird song while drinking tea and eating cake on the veranda.

Review 92:We had trouble turning the heat down. That's a first in Britain - being too hot.

Review 93:We were offered an upgrade due to a mixup on arrival and stayed in their best chalet! It was superb.

Review 94:Only grumble is no wifi and also no signal for EE.

Review 95:Wonderfully equipped kitchen, lovely modern lodge. Very warm and homely. Excellent location for us as close to three venues we needed to go to.

Review 96:No wifi or phone connection, had to drive from accommodation for wifi etc. tv remote had no batteries and unusable.

Review 97:the accommodation was nice and Cozzy, clean and appropriate clean bed linen and towels

Review 98:Unable to walk around woods - Castle owned.

Review 99:Everything - certainly exceeded expectations. Most perfect weekend in beautiful lodge in beautiful surroundings.

Review 100:Some of the decorations in the lodge weren't to our taste.

Review 101:Lodge was very good value and was very spacious. It was perfect for us to use as a base for a short break to ilfracombe.

Review 102:Had a musty smell that hit you when you walked in. Wifi did not work the whole two days.

Review 103:Spa tub was amazing. Bathroom in general brilliant. Great space in general. Lovely chalet.

Review 104:Due to the time of year everything was closed which is understandable. However there was no mention of the facilities such as te indoor pool/jacuzzi being shut until the deposit had been taken.

Review 105:Really nice little place. There's actually a castle just infront of the lodges so you have sea views and views of a castle. Beautiful lodges with beautiful scenery.

Review 106:A lot of the TV channels were not tuned in properly The Internet connection was pretty much non exsistant and the mobile connection was pretty much the same. But this might not be a bad thing if you want to escape from it all. I quite liked being off grid for the weekend

Review 107:The lodge was very comfortable,It had all the comforts of home. I will definatly stay there again

Review 108:If you are looking for nice and cosy place in beautiful scenery you have just found it. Warming fireplace during cold evenings. Sea view and sounds of nature outside ( birds and waves).Walk to the nearest pub in the light of the moon. You don't need anything else to recharge your batteries :) Thank you!

Review 109:The view was spectacular! We had an amazing mini break away. Even though we had wifi access it wasnt working well and very little mobile signal which was bliss! Definitely coming back again.

Review 110:The rain but we can't do anything about that

Review 111:Cleaness of our cabin , and the comfort of it,absolutely feel in love with our air bath ... The decour was to a high standard , .. We had great time thank you

Review 112:No mobile phone reception within the site but this is a mobile network coverage issue. However all bookers should be pre warned of this when booking. BT Phone boxes are provided but are not near the lodges and there was only 2 on the site.

Review 113:I stayed at the palm 27 lodge and this lodge exceeded my expectations as this was booked last minute. It was like a home from home. Great facilities in the lodge and within the lodge site. Great location. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Will be back next year.

Review 114:Bed wasn't very comfy. Liked being outside ilfracombe. Did not like ilfracombe.

Review 115:Liked the pool. Outdoor pool closed cos is was end of October, but should imagin one could make a whole day of it at the pool with kids. Cafe really good, nice surprise .

Review 116:Not properly cleaned. Cobwebs in the corners of the bedrooms. Behind the toilet and sink was disgusting and the vent in the bathroom also thick with dust. Needs sorting, quick. The tap on the bathroom sink is too far back so that unless you turn it full on and drown yourself, the water just flows along the ledge and around the taps. Also had to do a retune of the TV as when we switched it on only had 3 channels - Cbeebies, a shopping channel and an Asian channel! Had a panic that I would miss Downton Abbey!! Finally the dining chairs are a weird pizza slice shape and most uncomfortable!

Review 117:Park is in a lovely spot, nice and quiet with no noisy entertainment, which suits me just fine!

Review 118:--The indoor softplay was supposed to be open until 10 pm but everytime we went after 8 pm it was already closed. --We couldn't find any pool towels. --The beds and pillows were extremely uncomfortable.

Review 119:The location was beautiful and quiet. It was great to have a chalet that fit all six of us in one place.

Review 120:The indoor pool area needs upgrading, a good clean and was freezing. Some of the seating in the bar/restaurant area need a good clean. However it wouldn't put me off going again. The lodge was lovely and we left feeling really relaxed .

Review 121:Loved how quiet it was, the lodge was lovely and cosy. Location great for exploring local attractions.

Review 122:Wifi would be a plus but to be honest not using our phones for few days was good too :)

Review 123:Good facility clean and comfortable bed Very well furnished Good indoor pool

Review 124:No phone signal, no wifi in lodge, staff not available for booking in. office closed at 2, arrival at 3!! had to go straight to unlocked lodge so no induction.

Review 125:All linen and towels beautiful, comfortable accommodation, independent central heating, jacuzzi bath, friendly staff, lovely surroundings and views. good value for money :)

Review 126:Maybe the directions could be made easier to follow as it was difficult to find. Perhaps add that it is situated behind the castle, that way you could not miss it.

Review 127:Every aspect of our stay.

Review 128:Paying 50p for the hot tub and not being provided with sufficient dish washer tablets - should supply one per day, surely makes more sense to provide these to ensure correct usage.

Review 129:Beautiful spot handy for the SW coastal path which you can take east or west. Having got to (say) Ilfracombe, there is a good bus service which will drop you off at the Lodges. Once connection was sorted, w-fi worked well in Lodge. Pool very pleasant to use. We did not use the bar or restaurant so cannot comment.

Review 130:bar, restaurant decor is a little dated

Review 131:Childrens playground, swimming pool. Lodge was clean, much larger and more comfortable than we thought it would be. Had everything we needed, dishwasher, washing machine, cot, highchair. Master bedroom with ensuite was really lovely. Food in the restaurant was good.

Review 132:Stayed in Lodge 33 - there was a very strange smell in there! No Wi-Fi. A lot of steps to access the Lodge which could be awkward for less able bodied people.

Review 133:Great facilities in the lodge and good facilities in the park. Excellent location for exploring the area.

Review 134:See the above not happy at all.

Review 135:It's not as it is advertised. They are semi bungalows not secluded. Luxury many many years ago. Boiler leaked. Shower leaks and floods floor. Flooring lifting in parts. Settee has given up. Lights only a few worked. So disappointed. Was really looking forward to it. Bar is dirty and seating is disgusting. Staff nice and friendly

Review 136:Mattress was a bit spongy, outdoor pool only a metre deep so more of a paddling pool.

Review 137:Redwood lodges were very spacious, nice bathroom. Watermouth Castle next door and excellent for kids. Childrens playground great for our 3 year old. Restaurant was better than expected freshly prepared and tasty food.

Review 138:There was nothing really just that we found the kitchen sink tap and the shower control was not easy to fully turn off. We went out one evening thinking the shower was turned off when we got back it had been running for about 2 hours. Let the staff know about the taps when we left

Review 139:Very comfortable and cool even in the very hot days during the few days we stayed. We wasn't sure what we had booked and was surprised when we arrived at the quality and the space in our lodge.

Review 140:Only warm water for a shower.

Review 141:Where it was situated cleanliness and very quiet site nicely laid out plenty of room for parking. Lovely bath and two showers .when collected keys given a good description of what was avaliable.

Review 142:Very steep hills throughout whole site may cause difficulties for some, less mobile, visitors.

Review 143:Lovely woodland location with fabulous views over harbour and headland. Luxurious lodge with first rate facilities. Friendly and welcoming staff. Excellent meals at the Inn - great value for money!

Review 144:Restaurant - the food was very generic, bought in, not freshly made except for garnishes, not very tasty. Bar - Was served beverages in filthy glasses on three separate occasions.was really not impressed.

Review 145:Good Room Good Value for money Very child friendly, even had a cot bed and linens put in my room at no extra cost.

The Fine Print
