Reviews for Hotel Des Lices

Review 1:Chose this hotel for its location as it is situated right on the place des lices which is a very liveley area with bars and restaraunts right outside the door. There is secure underground parking 100 metres away. Hotel was easy to find, check in quick, rooms were a good size, decorated nice, bed comfortable, bathroom modern, everything clean. I had a room overlooking the place and noise was not a problem. Breakfast was typical french, croissants, ham, cheese etc, coffee, tea.we enjoyed our stay and will stay again. Also on a saturday morning there is a market in the street outside.

Review 2:I could not get comfortable sleep at night as the windows could not block the noise efficiently. As the hotel is located in a popular place for late night crowds good sound insulation should be considered more seriously.

Review 3:The location of the hotel was very nice as well as the welcoming staff!

Review 4:The location is wonderful, right in the middle of a very active pedestrian area with bars and restaurant. The room is still very quiet and the staff was extremely helpful.

Review 5:breakfast not included in the price

Review 6:very good location right in the centre of Rennes; very friendly and helpful staff; nice and familiar atomsphere; good price/quality ratio;

Review 7:In the evening there were many cafes and bars right outside and then in the morning a very large market. Despite fronting on to all this we slept very well overnight.

Review 8:That our room wasn't ready and walked in to a bombshell of a room. Then had to wait again at reception the to be given a smaller room without bath and a garden view

Review 9:The balcony and air conditioning helpful staff

Review 10:The hotel was under renovation, therefore not very clean (even though the stairs were protected with some plastic sheets, you were carrying the dust and paint all over). The location, as I mentioned, is very good, close to city center and therefore very noisy (I think the last bar closed around 2:30 am), so forget about going to sleep too early...

Review 11:The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 12:Pillows werent the best

Review 13:English speaking staff members Staff really helpful Were upgraded for no extra charge Room was well decorated Quiet even though central and noisy once outside Car park nearby, although had to pay (what cant expect to not pay in the centre)

Review 14:Make sure you ask for a room at the back. Front rooms are extremely noisy. A colleague had a very nice room (nicer than ours) facing the street BUT it was very noisy every night until 2-3 AM. Our room at the back was quiet.

Review 15:Nice part of town, in the old quarter

Review 16:Rooms were smallish but well designed spaces. No comfortable chair to sit in (2 small chairs OK but not to spend much time in).

Review 17:VERY helpful approachable staff! Printed out our Boarding passes, made taxi arrangements, answered misc. questions. They sell discounted Bus/Metro cards at Front Desk. Organic (and other) foods for breakfast. I imagine rooms on the street side might be noisy as this is a vibrant neighborhood but I asked for a quiet room and our room on the courtyard side was very quiet. Many extras - mini bar refrig with drinks with room for a few of your food items. Cold drinks for sale in lobby. Lounge area with comfortable chairs and TV.

Review 18:Room isn't exceedingly spacious. Cannot step out of the hotel any direction without walking through a wall of smoke, since bars and cafes with outdoors seating are all around. Recently upgraded to 3 star, it seems, as many marketing materials still referenced 2 stars. Some aspects of the room are a bit dated. I think the room was a bit dusty but maybe we didn't sleep so well because of the constant smoking we have to walk through when outside.

Review 19:walking distance to everything we wanted to see in Rennes. Friendly staff, family-style welcome. Pretty good breakfast.

Review 20:Tiny lift

Review 21:Great location in city centre Busy atmosphere. Wide eating choice.Adjacent to huge Saturday food market good signing to Place des Lices.Easy and big public underground car park next door .

Review 22:2 Euro for a bottle of water in minibar is not acceptable...

Review 23:Perfect location at the heart of the city.

Review 24:Not much to say, i would stay there again.

Review 25:Quite expansive

Review 26:Location, staff

Review 27:Noise outside was a bit loud when we stayed but it was a Saturday night.

Review 28:Lady on reception was very helpful during our stay. Room was clean and tidy.

Review 29:location .mini bar, excellent staff

Review 40:Nice location in old town, basic but comfortable furnishings. Good wifi.

Review 41:Location

Review 42:It was a noisy from the outside

Review 43:Location of the Hotel

Review 44:promotion of eco values: convenient situation for restaurants, bars and shopping: nice and quiet in room despite busy central location

Review 45:My whole experience there. Just not the hotel for me.

Review 46:Nothing. Checked out 4 days early. Not in a good area. To many bars and kids drinking all hours of the night. Homeless people sleeping next door to hotel when I left the next morning.

Review 47:Noisy neighbours. We were woken up at 4:30am and again at 7am by otherguests making an awful lot of noise (shouting and screaming etc).Fortunately they left after the first night. But the hotel should reallyhave stepped in given the level of disturbance.

Review 48:Great location in the Place des Lices. Also, despite being in the middleof town, no noise from outside penetrated into the room.

Review 49:I was on a day trip so I had only a small backpack but for some reason it was necessary to climb a flight of stairs to get to the elevator and I was happy I didn't have a heavy suitcase to carry. So, be careful about that. I couldn't get the air conditioning to work, but I never bothered either to find out what the problem was.

Review 50:For attending the Saturday market at the Place des Lices this was great. Staff was friendly and clear about the terms for the room. Great vew from my room which faced the back of the hotel.

Review 51:The interior design could be better for a 3-star hotel. The hotel is convenient but not charming.

Review 52:The location and the organic products in the room and for the breakfast.

Review 53:The Hotel's location is ideal as you can walk to the many bars andrestaurants and the Saturday market is a stone's throw from the Hotel.Being a lively area it can be quite noisy in the evening but once youclosed the double glazed windows the noise level was reducedconsiderably. The staff were extremely helpful and provided us with mapsand advice on using the car parking facilities which were nearby. Theroom was clean and the bed comfortable. We didn't have breakfast socan't comment on the standard. A good week-end break.

Review 61:Location - it is the only hotel in Old Rouen
