Reviews for Callander Meadows

Review 1:A bit old building. The elevator didn't work. To go to the town, you need to go by car or 30' walk....taxis are cheap.

Review 2:They have a swimming pool....small. Nice garden. Nice views.

Review 3:Parking, very bad, steep to go down into the so called car park, I had to move large heavy planters out of the way, I have a small car, and it only just got through the archway, and it scraped the bottom of car going down the steep curb. The bathroom door was a split wooden folding door, looks like made from one door, as space was limited, from inside couldn't close it properly, these are the only downside to this property. It looks like this property is going through a maintenance programme which in time should make it better in the longterm, what already has been done is very stunning

Review 4:Bed was comfy, breakfast excellent, staff extremely helpful and friendly

Review 5:It's a narrow driveway to the back. However, nothing can be down about that, short of knocking down a beautiful building.

Review 6:Everything was great -- quaint rooms on the main street of a small town. Food, including the breakfasts, was great (try dinner too!) Nick and Suzanne are perfect hosts, providing advice and welcome.

Review 7:The staff were all very welcoming. The location was fabulous and our room (room 2) was very nice with the four poster bed. Fergus the dog was a little treasure and the breakfast was lovely. Looking forward to coming again.

Review 8:A wonderful stay in the Trossachs with a comfortable room in the heart of the old city. How can you go wrong in a hotel room owned by two chefs with breakfast included, and dinner available, who are also wonderfully friendly?

Review 9:the room and surroundings were not up to the mark. the pictures of the property do not match with reality. the steps leading to the room were dirty.

Review 10:close to the town.

Review 11:room had a musty smell bedding strange design TV -digital box was taped on and had fallen off - I had to jam it up with a bottle room small no black out blinds very bright in morning

Review 12:location was very good - central staff nice and chatty

Review 13:Bed was not our favorite

Review 14:Hosts are extremely helpful and friendly. Excellent chef. . Best breakfast we had in Scotland. Car is parked inside a secure courtyard

Review 15:Callander meadows was clean warm and friendly. The breakfast was absolutely delicious...it was just the healthiest fried breakfast (with haggis)!!! We wished we had eaten there because the menu looked yummy but we were invited to a lunch party elsewhere.

Review 16:Nothing of any importance.

Review 17:Hotel with character, excellent obliging hosts, excellent food in the restaurant and for breakfast with options for gluten intolerance and willingness to modify menu options to make them so. Would definitely stay there again.

Review 18:Room very cold and certainly not good value for money.Review page was calculated with just one answer and would not allow to click the appropriate boxes.

Review 19:Unfortunately no wifi during my visit. Not a Callander Meadows issue - service provider fault.

Review 20:The friendliness of Suzanne and Nick, the comfortable room and great food.

Review 21:The room was quite small. This was not really a problem for us as we were out most of the evening, but would have been more of an issue otherwise- only one chair for the 2 of us, otherwise sit on the bed. I personally am not v keen on having to decide in the evening what i want for breakfast the following day, but I can understand it can be helpful to the proprietors, and the breakfast itself was very good.

Review 22:breakfast was very good- good choice in addition to standard full English. Also, when I asked for an iron, this was brought up to the room for me.

Review 23:Had a great stay here on a recent weekend. Lovely food, great value for money. Staff were lovely too, couldn't be more helpful and welcoming to my partner and I

Review 24:Friendly welcome to family-run hotel. No problems allowing us to bring our parrot in his travelling cage into the hotel. Excellent dinner with wide and varied choice. Will definitely return again.

Review 25:Owners had a night off. Wakened up by shouting and banging of doors. One plug. Hair dryer or Kettle on, NoTV. Switch for Shower outside the ensuite which is why I could not get it to work. At 8-10 am there was no one around, eventually heard movement.

Review 26:Breakfast

Review 27:The water pressure in the shower was a bit weak.

Review 28:The room was great, it was decorated well and had a lovely big four poster bed. Staff were very friendly and the breakfast was lovely. Will definitely stay again.

Review 29:No hot water at wash basin, had to boil kettle to get warm wash, no towel rails at all in shower room, very frustrating having to drape it over room rad or end of bed every time. website said food available but in reality only on Thursdays to Saturdays. We booked here especially for the food so that we didn't have to go hunting for it - which we had to in the end. We have been coming to Callander for 15 years to visit aunt.

Review 30:Excellent location, very pleasant owners and staff, clean, double glazed windows (warm as 10 deg C outside), good wifi, good breakfast. Lovely view of the Trossachs hills from rear double bedroom which was quiet.

Review 31:Décor, cobwebs hanging from light fitting, ancient beds only sat on them though we didn't stay the night, dirty shower cubicle horrible towels have used better to dry the dog with, ill fitting thread bare carpets and the smell very unpleasant Sorry just not what was expected looked better on the website.

Review 32:Nothing really

Review 33:Nothing!

Review 34:Warm welcome on arrival; Lovely food in their restaurant with changing specials every night. Very comfortable room at a great price. Great central location.

Review 35:nothing

Review 36:The food, service, atmosphere and hospitality was excellent. Nick and Suzanne were very welcoming and attentive.very nice people. we have already booked for next year.

Review 37:Probably the only negatives for us was that there wasn't enough power points for us to easilly charge our myriad of equipment, and we had some problems with space for two large suitcases. The room is a good size, but I think that given it had a double setee, I would have preferred to not have the lovely big armchair in the room, but rather a second folding luggage table.

Review 38:We had a short but enjoyable stay at Callander Meadows. The driveway dips a bit as you drive in, but we didn't have any problems parking the car behind the hotel.Nick and Suzanna were very friendly and accommodating. Nick happilly offerred to carry luggage up to our room. We also really enjoyed the lovely breakfasts prepared for us each morning.

Review 39:Frequently disturbed by others going up and down stairs past the room. Not the place to book if you like a peaceful siesta in the afternoon. Ensuite is not really ensuite, it is a bit of the bedroom which has been partitioned off.

Review 40:Lovely food in restaurant. Nice garden to sit out in nice weather.

Review 41:Room was very small, noisy and among other things, the door was unable to lock from the inside, towel rail fell apart,

Review 42:Food was excellent. Staff were excellent

Review 43:There was not parking on site, and we have to park a little further away from the location, but it wasn't too bad. Also the signage for the hotel was not obvious, but we found it in the end.

Review 44:The staff went out of their way to prepack a breakfast since we were leaving before breakfast was served. The room was nicely decorated and well presented

Review 45:Parking behind the hotel was awkward due to a steep entrance from the road. Some noise from the restaurant in the evenings.

Review 46:The bed was very comfortable and the food was excellent. The owner chef was exceptional in his helpfulness to customers.

Review 47:The room and bathroom we had were not really up to level, however, OK value for the money I guess.

Review 48:The very good restaurant and the great couple running this place make it worth more than one visit.

Review 49:The beds are in desperate need of an update. I could not have stayed more than one night there. They where lumpy and uncomfortable.

Review 50:The food was fantastic and definitely the strong point. The owners where lovely and friendly.

Review 51:The Owner and Staff bent over backwards to help us with our disabled car. They ensured we were taken care of, when most places would not. The Owner and Staff made us feel like long lost friends as soon as we met them. I want to go back!!!!!

Review 52:toilet, a bit unsteady; there was a towel of previous guest still hanging in the bathroom, how well was the rest of the room cleaned? curtains leave a lot of light in in the morning, you wake up by the light.

Review 53:the restaurant, food was lovely. mak sure you make reservation in advance; staff very friendly; nice shower;

Review 54:Nothing everything was perfect

Review 55:This family run hotel was a perfect place to stay for our travel around Scotland. Nick and sussanah the owners could not have been more helpful with advice and a friendly face every day. They made our stay so special with little touches during our stay that we're over and above a normal hotel. The food was excellent and nothing was to much trouble. We will be staying again and would recommend this hotel to anybody.

Review 56:arrived too late to eat in the restuarant and missed out on some fantastic looking and smelling food. next time I will book ahead.

Review 57:room and staff very good, breakfast excellent

Review 58:Nothing

Review 59:Callander is a lovely town and this B&B is bang in the middle of it. Excellent breakfast, will try dinner next time we stay as The Meadows has an excellent local reputation for food. Nick & Susanna made it a home-from-home experience and the room was very comfortable.

Review 113:very friendly staff, excellent food

Review 114:Our first night in Scotland was wonderful thanks to Susannah and Nick, the owners of Callander Meadows. A beautiful garden outside, and two perfect rooms inside. The airline lost one piece of luggage, and Susannah got my wife to the perfect stores to shop. We were directed to an Indian restaurant for dinner, and it was first rate. A short walk to the water and got some really beautiful pictures. Next trip will stay more days!

Review 115:TINY twin room with hardly room to turn around, although they did manage to squeeze in everything needed, and the view over the back garden and town park were lovely! VERY narrow access to on-site parking!

Review 116:Center of town location, accommodation as part of excellent restaurant operation, very warm and friendly hosts, fabulous view from the room.

Review 117:The bed wasn't comfortable at all and could do with a new mattress.

Review 118:The staff are lovely and very attentive. The location was great. The food was excellent - all fresh produce and homemade. I would return to the restaurant.
