Reviews for Regent Hotel Doncaster
Review 1:Parking not easy to find, out dated furniture, Executive room is not so executive, TV audio keeps dropping, TV had the fewest no. of channels I've seen in a hotel before. the bath is in dire need of renovation
Review 2:Location, comfy bed, cleanliness, nice staff, good dinner
Review 3:On walking into a reception a member of staff was reading a newspaper with their feet & shoes on the sofa. In my room 3 bulbs didn't work, two light switches were broken, the TV remote was broken, the toilet was next to a window so I had to use it with the light off at night, the chairs wobbled so I had to screw them back on properly, the bath plug was blocked and the shower head needed replacing.
Review 4:The building and hotel interior was lovely, where the room was very nice and very comfortable. One of the best features were the number of fire doors - there was loads which made the stay not only feel very safe but also very very quiet! :)
Review 5:The fact that they cared more about there Christmas party's. Then us .They said we could not use the bar when my daughter would come to see me until I argued my case. By then I did not care and went elsewhere
Review 6:The area and the fact you could take pets
Review 7:A party was ongoing in the venue until 1.30am. We were not allowed in the front entrance but had to enter via the rear. There was hair in the bed when we arrived.
Review 8:Closeness to the train station
Review 9:Requested a quiet room, was put in room above the front entrance so was woken up regularly during the night by people coming and going to parties in hotel and smoking by front door, rather annoyed by this.
Review 10:Location, staff , good breakfast.
Review 11:The car park extremely tight (I drive a mini, so that's saying Something), the staff didn't find friendly one bit. The hotel is extremely dated and mould in the bathroom. Didn't sleep very well due to the police sirens every 30mins to an hour (this was Saturday night).
Review 12:The room was more modern and the space was a pleasant surprise.
Review 13:The room was vaguely gloomy, though nice and clean, with a good bathroom. The television was switched on in the breakfast room - a deeply annoying habit shared with many hotels - but a kind staff member allowed me to take my breakfast in another area. The bar is not well stocked.
Review 14:The people were friendly and chatty, and I was able to use the dining area for a long meeting with a work colleague.
Review 15:Hopeless pillows (if I return I will bring my own!). Dated TV. Stand in shower with no slip mat. Poor breakfast (too greasy and fatty)
Review 16:Friendly and helpful staff. Pleasant restaurant - had lovely evening meal. Comfortable bed despite pillows. Good location.
Review 17:Hotel was a tiring walk from the train station. Remote control was out of batteries. If a hotel provides a sink and microwave it would make sense to provide things like plates and washing up liquid with which to benefit from these.
Review 18:Staff were great. Location was easy to find. Room was well designed to make use of the space, with lovely features (though did not expect to have kitchen facilities these were a bonus). I enjoyed the faded glamour of the older lift which can only accommodate a fab four. This made me think maybe the Beatles had used the same lift when they reportedly stayed here. Very close to a park, an art centre, gallery and museum if you have a bit of time to kill.
Review 19:Parking is limited and tight when the hotel is full as it was during our stay.
Review 20:The staff are great, the hotel is clean and the location for Doncaster and the race course is perfect.
Review 21:Wi-fi which was advertised as free In room did not connect-- room apparently too far from router.we had to sit in lobby to use wi-if.
Review 22:Restaurant good with friendly staff!
Review 23:Having stayed at Regent 29 years ago in honeymoon suite before departure on honeymoon. The service was good, place very clean and staff very good. Nothing has changed. Many thanks.
Review 24:The Car-park was a little small and not easy to park at times, but at least they had one
Review 25:The staff were very cheerful, helpful and polite. The room was clean and bed was comfortable Location for why we were in Doncaster was great.
Review 26:Location, spot on. Room, immaculate Bed, one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in so far (we travel quite frequently) Staff, friendly and helpful. Breakfast.
Review 27:Noisy doors. Room 50 bathroom needed maintenance: loose toilet seat, loose cold tap, no lock on door, hanger ripped oof from back of door. Door key rusted and did nt work.
Review 28:Staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast excellent. Generally very clean, bar & restaurant very modern and appealing.
Review 29:staff helpful, friendly and polite food lovely and good prices right location for what we needed thought we might be trouble with noise from road but was ok
Review 30:The bathroom was quiet poor, the bath shell was fitted properly. As i spent most of the night ill i spent alot of time in there the bathroom door opened on the bed so when my partner went to the toilet in the night nearly swong the door in my face. The room layout was slightly difficult with plugs for our phones. It was quiet loud on a night as the races were on etc traffic till 4am.
Review 31:It was an average room. Nicely decorated. In a really nice place staff were nice! I missed breakfast wish i could rate it overall alright for one night.
Review 32:I could park outside in the street as I arrived after 6pm. Very convenient. The location is good, near the pedestrian precinct and near many bars and bitros. I walked to the railway station. Had dinner in the hotel and it was very good. The room was clean and comfortable.
Review 33:This was a very nice clean hotel large room and a nice big bed the breakfast was excellent many choices The bar was good and priced as you would expect in a hotel
Review 34:Rooms tired and in need of updating. Limited inexpensive toiletries. Says it's next to a park when it is only a square of grass.
Review 35:Staff Friendly and welcoming
Review 36:Dirty T-shirt left in bathroom, bins not emptied, hair dryer not working, only one bath towel. Shabby paintwork, bedside cabinet wheels left on top of cabinet. All very off putting!
Review 37:Location was the best thing about this hotel. Helpful staff.
Review 38:Car park was a bit tight.
Review 39:Went for the races - excellent position both within walking distance of the racecourse and also of the town. So didn't need to spend extra on taxis!
Review 40:Ceiling needed some attention due to some cracks.
Review 41:Location of hotel is great as you are close by to the town centre and are only a few minutes walk from the nightlife aswell.
Review 42:Car park very small and hard to park although free and very convenient at the back of the hotel.
Review 43:Well located. Comfortable. Helpful staff. Good breakfast. Overall good value for the price
Review 44:A really fantastic weekend stay. The staff were really friendly and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We had an evening meal in the restaurant and could not fault it. Breakfast very good as well.
Review 45:The night porter let my partner into the room, without asking him who he was...he did not know him to be my partner, as had not seen him. I felt my security was undermined,as he could have been anyone, particularly as there was a band playing at the hotel and it was incredibly busy. When I explained my concern to the night porter, he was defensive and rude.
Review 46:Lovely view, clean, friendly staff
Review 47:Room was on the front could hear people coming out of the bar . Would go for room at the back next time
Review 48:Hotel very close to train station which was very important to us as early start on the second day . Restaurant staff excellent told we could order any thing we liked it was no problem
Review 49:No complaints whatsoever
Review 50:We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - the room was lovely, nice view overlooking the park, very comfy bed. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly!
Review 51:In early hours of the morning, after using the bathroom, the extractor fan failed to turn off. It was very noisy and making a grating sound, so impossible to sleep. Finally had to find night porter who gave me a key to another room, so had to pack up bag and relocate. Still awake at 3 am and had to be up early. Nobody mentioned the problem, until I did, at reception, the next morning. The staff member sympathised and nothing more. I feel a voucher for a future stay, or some kind of compensation would have been the norm. My stay was ruined and, though I was given a better room, at 2 am I was too tired to enjoy it. Very disappointed.
Review 52:Clean, good sized room, small double rather than single, good breakfast.
Review 53:Shower head wouldn't stay in position. - Minor point. , just needs a new slider fitting.
Review 54:Staff very friendly and actually have time for you unlike the robots at travel lodges and the like. Good food. Excellent, comfortable, newly refurbished bedroom.
Review 55:hotel had no record of the booking! despite me receiving an email of confirmation from booking.com Very for lucky that the hotel had three rooms remaining that were suitable for my party!!
Review 56:Room was good
Review 57:WiFi wasn't constant and I frequently lost signal
Review 58:Helpful and friendly staff, superb food (buffet style breakfast is the best), great location (in terms of transport/city center), rooms cleaned regularly
Review 59:Myself and my boyfriend stayed at the regent hotel for two nights on the 23rd and 24th of January this year and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay for the cleanliness, comfort and the excellent location which is in the heart of bars and restraints and only 5 minutes in a taxi to the races which was the reason for our stay.. We had a lovely weekend and I would defiantly recommend it. Amanda From Hyde..
Review 60:Not easy to get in hotel car park at busy times
Review 61:Our stay was for Doncaster races so location was great for us as we both like a walk.Ate in hotel first night food was good as was breakfast.
Review 62:Be aware of the parking, the hotel car park is only small. You pay to park on the road, and that is limited too. But don't let this put you off, the hotel is really good.
Review 63:All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Very convenient for the racecourse; 20 minute walk or 5 by car/bus - buses stop outside the hotel.
Review 64:Limited car parking. Small car park to rear was full and quite tight to maneuver. A narrow, one-way street to front with limited space to stop.
Review 65:Staff were faultless and absolutely perfect. Hotel was excellent for pets (dog), and staff were very accommodating. Food was very nice with generous portions
Review 66:Great location for what we needed. On-site parking at no extra cost. Staff were friendly & welcoming. Room was spacious, comfy and well presented, would say potentially bathroom could do with touching up but was clean. Hairdryer in room was broken but hotel staff offered an alternative. Don't know why anyone would use nearby premier inn when this is available!
Review 67:excellent service ,rooms and food. Very large bedrooms recently refurbished. Bar meals home cooked and very high quality. Staff all very friendly, efficient and courteous. will be back again soon.
Review 68:They were replacing the carpets in some of the rooms which meant taking the long route to my room sometimes.
Review 69:Location of the hotel, the size and comfort of the room, the character of the building. Free WiFi and car parking.
Review 70:The shower was in need of attention in the room we stayed.
Review 71:The hotel is conveniently located for the city centre and local amenities. The onsite car park was accessible and secure. The breakfast was a delight reprinting excellent value overall.
Review 72:The hotel bars did not open until 5pm, this is fine as you have a variety of pubs on the doorstep as the hotel is in the centre of town. The reception did say we could have a drink if we like though so all good.
Review 73:Comfy Nights stay, room clean, staff pleasant
Review 74:Nothing
Review 75:The staff were very helpful in every way and the Breakfast was very good, we found the room a bit on the cold side, but apart from that it was a good hotel and would definitely book here again if we came back to Doncaster
Review 76:The first room we had which was above where the band plays loudly in spite of originally requesting a quiet room.
Review 77:Comfortable bed Excellent breakfast Helpfulness of (most of the) staff when our room was too noisy. We were given a quieter room the next day as soon as there was space in the hotel/
Review 78:My room was directly above the function room and the live band felt like they were at the end of my bed! The hotel was full so nothing could be done :-( I'm worn out!
Review 79:The staff are excellent
Review 80:A craft beer on tap would have been nice to have. The bathroom floor under the towel rack could have been cleaner.
Review 81:I loved how the Chef came to see if I had enjoyed the meal. I had :) it was a delicious Thai Curry. The bed was super comfortable. Superb top notch small Hotel.
Review 82:nothing, everything was good.
Review 83:fantastic location, close to town centre and only 15 minute walk to Doncaster racecourse which was the reason for our stay. lovely breakfast both mornings. had evening meal on the second night, excellent value for money and huge portion sizes. would definitely stay here again.
Review 84:Too many mirrors!
Review 85:Pleasant surroundings with view of park, good sized room and comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent with a scrambled egg and salmon option which is always welcome.
Review 86:The stairs to top floor! Cramped parking with narrow spaces. (Could only just get out of my car!) No Air Conditioning in room and very very hot day. Noisy with window open.
Review 87:I thought the bar food good and very reasonably priced. All the staff were attentive & charming. Room excellent value. Good function suite (I was there for a concert) Could see car park from room. Public toilets clean.
Review 88:Evening was disrupted by large group of young people shouting until well after midnight. Shouldn't have to pay for what was a distressing evening listening to over exuberance.Staff hopelessly absent apart from having a cigarette.shocking.
Review 89:The rooms! Although they are fairly clean they need redecorating and updating. The curtains were dirty, the hinge on the wardrobe door was broken and when I got in the shower and closed the door it fell off!! ( I did report this to a member of staff who said they'd get someone to look at it but didn't seem too concerned.) I managed to get it back on so I could get out of the shower. Someone needs to look at the rooms from a guests perspective and make improvements.
Review 90:Staff are very friendly and helpful. Great location near to centre of Doncaster. Food very nice.

Review 110:too small rooms
Review 111:friendly welcoming staff , good location
Review 112:I booked a room at £60 on booking.com and was charged £70 by the hotel which is disgraceful
Review 113:Our visit clashed with a stag party
Review 114:The narrowness of the passageways outside the bedrooms.
Review 115:The breakfasts at the hotel were superb.
