Reviews for Thistle London Heathrow Terminal 5

Review 1:Hotel is very dated and needs to be updated. Stayed in room 561, Shower head over the bath is only ideal for people under 5 feet (be careful not to slip or get a bad back for anyone over 5 feet). Heating system in the room isn't the best.

Review 2:Prefect location for terminal 5, only because of the terminal 5 pod transfer. Bar very relaxing.

Review 3:Reception had no record of booking when I checked in after booking.com 3 months before. No breakfast included!

Review 4:Good clean room and good service after initial issue of booking not on our system sir

Review 5:The information received regarding location of the pod was not good. The distance between our room and restaurant was further than we would have liked.

Review 6:The bed was comfortable. The tea/coffee making facilities were good. The breakfast was good value and the staff (at breakfast)in the restaurant were excellent.

Review 7:There wasn't anything - maybe paying for parking when we've paid for the hotel?

Review 8:The ease of booking, location and staff. The staff were helpful and easy to understand with their instructions (The Pod). Also very helpful with breakfast arrangements as these were in two parts

Review 9:Standard double room was a bit tight for space especially with two large suitcases. I am a good sleeper but my wife complained of constant noise from the adjacent large car park.

Review 10:Excellent location for a Terminal 5 flight. Pod train is wonderful and great fun - although it was out of order when we left. Staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant good value with friendly staff. Ideal for plane spotters - only 100m from runway 27/09!

Review 11:Bedrooms getting a bit "tired". Bar rather dismal.

Review 12:Pod transport to & from T5 brilliant. Requested & got a ground floor room. Excellent reception staff. Good breakfast at £10. Will certainly stay again

Review 13:I had requested a ground floor room and one near to reception as I have mobility problems. On arrival I was allocated a room on the first floor but this was then changed to room 308 which although on the ground floor was a very long distance for me with my arthritis. Disappointed request not met especially as I had booked so far in advance.

Review 14:Good price, room very good, clean and comfortable

Review 15:We were travelling from Heathrow with two young children, a buggy, luggage etc, the use of the pod directly from the hotel without having to get kids, buggy, luggage onto and off of a bus was priceless! Also great fun! Would absolutely book again! Plus the hotel and facilities were great!

Review 16:Restaurant didn't include VAT in menu prices and the hopper bus took ages from the hotel to Heathrow terminal (way longer than had been predicted) due to loads of stops at other hotels.

Review 17:Nice, comfortable hotel... Decent facilities & food (dinner from the restaurant).

Review 18:Great location for terminal 5, mainly because it has access to the pod transport for getting to and from the airport. Very quick and cheap to get to terminal 5.

Review 19:As a diagnosed Coeliac the choice of food in the restaurant was disappointing. There was food available - which was good - but only by not serving the items containing gluten. No effort was made to offer an alternative (sauce - for example).

Review 20:Despite being right next to the airport there was no noise from it at all. Very comfortable night.

Review 21:No lift to first floor - hard going with heavy luggage although staff did offer to help. Although close to T5 it was 15GBP for a taxi - I had too much luggage to go on the pod.

Review 22:Staff were great - really friendly and helpful. Room although a little old looking was clean and had everything you needed. Nice bar area.

Review 23:Bar and restaurant a little soulless but fine for an overnight en route somewhere else

Review 24:it really is very convenient for the airport and easy to drive to also.

Review 25:It's really expensive for taking POD to this hotel. And the room smelled like smoking room, however, we could not open the window to get some fresh air.

Review 26:Just 5 minutes away from airport if you go there by POD.

Review 27:Room were so small, we had 3 suitcases with us and hardly managed to leave them a side!

Review 28:If u wanna be close to terminal 5 Heathrow this is the right hotel to stay! There is a free bus to airport outside of the hotel or pay £5 use the hotel bus or around £15 by black cab.

Review 29:Very large, comfortable bed, Restaurant serving food until 10:45pm with an extensive menu Quiet, despite being right at the airport Less than 5 minutes on a pod from Terminal 5.

Review 30:Would have been nice to have an explanation with regard to the restaurant facilities. I only notice a lobby bar, noticed the restaurant in the morning when it was too late. Ticked on booking i would pay cash but the money was taken off my card before arrival, not hotels fault booking needs to be more transparent with how hotels work, this not the first time this has happened nearly always with London hotels.

Review 31:Close to terminal 5, couple of bars within walking distance. Bed was comfortable and room a decent size. Loved the pods for getting to the airport.

Review 32:My bathroom toilet seat was broken and most surprisingly was left propped against the wall right beside the toilet bowl....see picture below! Absolutely shameful in my opinion. My room was also very far from the reception I might have well have been in another building....no porter to assist with luggage to the room either which again was a huge disappointment.

Review 33:Relatively friendly staff....apart from that nothing else was impressive.

Review 34:The hotel was good value for the money. The restaurant served tasty food with good service and good prices. It was very easy to get to Terminal 5 via the Pods, which were very cool.

Review 35:The room was shabby and need of a refit. The air conditioning did not work, the room was damp. We were moved to another room where the air con was stuck on high.

Review 36:Location and use of the POD system

Review 37:Sadly the room was tired and dated, and quite small. We found the hot drinks in the cafe quite expensive, and the restaurant food in the evening the same, but having said that, I should imagine that is normal for a airport hotel.

Review 38:The staff were very helpful, and it was an excellent location for the airport.

Review 39:Postcode of the hotel takes to a car hire place. Thistle hotel is next door, but they wouldn't allow through their entrance. They have put a board with a different postcode to reach Thistle hotel on their gate. It's not that easy to travel due to one way systems and misleading roads and I spent nearly 45 minutes to reach the hotel from their closer by car hire place. Ridiculous.

Review 40:Booking.com fee was lower than I was charged. I noted this to the reception and they positively promised to be fixed and I'll have back in my credit card the amount. 4 weeks later there is no return. :-)

Review 41:Very dated building, tiny and very basically furnished room. Would have been fine 20 years ago but not now with a premier inn across the road. Time to raise your game guys.

Review 42:Close to terminal 5 pods

Review 43:No provision of water in rooms which is really a basic. Bathroom smelt fusty and badly ventilated. Room decor was tired and the rooms were not sparkling clean

Review 44:Location was good - free bus 423 to and from T5. Don't bother with the POD.

Review 45:The whole hotel looks a bit dated from the outside; it could do with a better bar on the ground floor.

Review 46:Very good restaurant (and view), if a little expensive. Booked the Thistle because of the pod delivery to T5; this worked very well and only took 5 minutes, as advertised!

Review 47:Where do I begin! Impossible to find, unlit and inconvenient parking lot, unhelpful staff, terrible tv, blood stain on mattress, tiny room, door difficult to open, and room numbering nonsensical. There are far superior hotels at similar or less expensive prices in the same area. I will definitely use one of them again.

Review 48:The food in the restaurant amazingly good.

Review 49:The directions from the pod were bad and at no point did they say that it involved a 5 minute walk over uneven ground in the wind and rain - not ideal when all guests will have large luggage items with them. No step free access to most rooms - again not ideal with cases. Staff were unhelpful and the random pots in reception meant it was difficult to get to the desks with a case. Just really badly thought out considering who it's aimed at.

Review 50:Location - for flying from Heathrow it's good and it was cheap. Make sure you ask for a ground floor room if you have cases and do stay here.

Review 51:Various things, as I'm still waiting for a reply I'll leave this blank.

Review 52:Stayed here a few times, hit n miss, manager offered second chance ace stay, however the next 2 stays poor. Manager failed to respond to the first e-mail October, and 2 weeks on I'm still waiting for a reply from the second!!!

Review 53:Room can be a long way from reception and with luggage and shut fire doors this can be a pain

Review 54:Accessibility of LHR T5 (use Pod Parking at additional £5pp e/w)

Review 55:Arrived after travelling for 24 hours. No booking had been made. Nothappy with Booking.com. Have used before, but never again. Verydisappointed. If the Hotel had been full I don't know what we wouldhave done.

Review 56:-car park should be free, -hair dryer kept sparking & when mentioned to 2 different members of staff they look confused 1 of them said it should be fine.. Although the other did say they would look into it. -good breakfast but that bacon looked dodgy & cheap & there was a hair on the sausages

Review 57:not bad location, quite nice rooms, good variety of foods at breakfast

Review 58:Some of the rooms, such as mine, are quite far from reception; however, the receptionist did ask if I needed help carrying my case to my room. The room smelt a little bit dusty/'old', but this wasn't a huge issue.

Review 59:The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant had some excellent food with a great view of the runway and attentive staff. The pod was just a few minutes' walk from the hotel building and so convenient for getting to Terminal 5. You won't regret the £5 cost! I also didn't notice any noise from planes while I was in my room, and slept really well. If you have a really early flight and are going to have to leave before breakfast, you could do what I did and buy a pot of porridge from the café opposite reception the night before, and then there's a kettle in the room, so you just add hot water in the morning and voila! Breakfast!

Review 60:We found the bed very firm, the room was hot and stuffy, and the duvet was far too thick.

Review 61:The staff were cheerful and friendly. The Pod (driverless car) to T5 was fun, convenient and cost effective

Review 62:directions for finding the hotel from terminal 5 are AWFUL. Promoted as being AT terminal 5, the hotel is totally impossible to find. no-one in the terminal could help us, there were NO signs and we had to phone reception twice before we could find our way through the pod parking system

Review 63:the convenience of arriving at the hotel for an early flight the next day and being able to enjoy a pleasant and tasty meal in the hotel

Review 64:The hotel staff tried to charge me £60 when I had been quoted £50 on booking.com. First they said the extra was for breakfast (which was included in my deal) and then they said it was for VAT (which was also included already). I did get a refund eventually but the desk staff and manager were a little unfriendly towards me after that transaction. Other guests stumbling in well after midnight, talking loudly, didn't help me sleep well.

Review 65:Clean comfortable room, everything worked, quiet location, good bus links to all terminals. Lovely breakfast and good views over towards T5. No lift but staff will help with heavy luggage. Despite the negatives, I would stay here again as I liked the location and facilities.

Review 66:The directions to the hotel are not good and Sat Nav sends you to the Pod car park because it has the same postcode. The hotels staff are aware this is a problem, as is the petrol station where everyone stops to ask directions. It added over 30 mins to our travel time trying to find the hotel.I know you can't change a postcode but you can put on the website NOT to follow Sat Nav.

Review 67:Location to the airport with on site parking and the Pod to the airport amazing!

Review 68:Even though it was winter rooms are way to hot. Air conditioning would only go as low as 16 degrees. But this is not a major hassle in life.

Review 69:Great location at Heathrow terminal 5. 5 minutes via the pod and you are at the terminal. Lovely meals and the buffett breakfast is excellent. Great value for money and the staff are friendly. From the restaurant and balcony you can watch the planes land. This was our second visit and would defiantly stay again when using terminal 5 as it takes the hassle out of Travelling. They also over great rates for stay park and fly.

Review 70:Booked room with 2 double beds and got one double bed. Had to pay for upgrade to 2 single beds or carry our luggage up fights of stairs by ourselves.. Not acceptable.

Review 71:nothing

Review 72:No lift in hotel. Bit of a struggle with cases.

Review 73:Stayed here before and after going on holiday and left car parked for the duration, total cost for room for 2 nights and 10 days parking just over £200 which was great value. Requested and had late check out (4 pm) at no extra charge.

Review 74:My room rate changed and I had trouble correct it. Not happy. Not pleased the room rate moved by 25 pounds between booking.com website and the checkin desk.

Review 75:Room fine

Review 76:Finding the hotel was a nightmare as the post code takes you to a route that you can't get in to the hotel through

Review 77:The ease to get on pods to terminal was great

Review 78:Breakfast, food was poor fruit was aged put together by somebody lacking interest in their work

Review 79:Dinner in the evening was very nice. Pleasant, courteous staff and the food was pretty good.

Review 80:Our room smelt extremely strongly of bleach, I should have told staff as soon as we checked in but didn't and consequently felt quite ill the next day. However, I am sure had I said something earlier they would have been more than happy to accommodate me.

Review 81:Good position with easy access to terminal 5. Helpful and friendly staff. Basic rooms but adequate for their purpose.

Review 82:No postage stamps or postal service at reception.

Review 83:Restaurant overlooking Terminal 5 building and continuous flights viewed from windows. Quiet room. Excellent proximity to Heathrow, all terminals.

Review 84:The food menu in the restaurant was limited. When it came it was below our expectations. Terminal 5 was not well signposted leaving the hotel make sure you have sat nav!

Review 85:Location to Heathrow.

Review 86:No working ceiling lights in the rooms - had to work with light on my phone and a desk light - I assume this was a temporary blip. No alternative room offered - but it was midnight when I arrived...

Review 87:Staff and closeness to T5 - really good.

Review 88:The hotel should be demolished and rebuilt. The rooms were small and the bathrooms even smaller. The net curtains were filthy. Everything was dated. The bed uncomfortable.

Review 89:The Pod from Terminal 5 was clean efficient and good value for money

Review 90:nothing really, just little dated but everything worked. teh breakfast could be included for the price - 90 USD and i only used it for 6 hours of layover.

Review 91:it served it purpose to offer a clean bed and hot shower for a 8 hours layover

Review 92:The reception staff were okay but not very welcoming or helpful. The hotel felt as it it had seen better days. It was clean, but things like the cushions and bed runners were too 'well worn'. Rooms were quite dark and very small. I had a deluxe room and it was very small! Car parking seemed okay to me.

Review 93:The Conference Centre was very good. The food was very nice... and room service staff were very friendly and helpfull. The view from the dining room was great! And the viewing deck would have been super if the weather had been better.

Review 94:A challenge to find, even with satnav

Review 95:Great location for LHR terminals Good value evening meal, tables overlook T5 runway Overnight free parking available on the street just outside the carpark, well lit and saves a few £££'s

Review 96:The place was extremely noisy. The people in the room next to mine kept me awake all night talking on the telephone, with the TV and moving furniture around. In addition the drunks that came in late made an incredible amount of noise screaming and shouting and falling down in the hall. I couldn't wait for morning so I could leave. Surely the rooms should be better insulated..

Review 97:The pod to the airport

Review 98:They had no record of my booking. Staff not overly friendly. Limited choice in the restaurant.

Review 99:They found me a room when my booking couldn't be found. Bus from airport is free

Review 100:There's nothing too memorable about the place - just a basic place to stay. Only recommended for layovers.

Review 101:A very affordable spot right at the airport. The pods make it an easy 5 minute trip, and it's a great choice for an overnight layover. The bus is easy as well. Good breakfast buffet, though if you're a light eater it's more cost effective to just eat at the airport if you have a morning flight. Located right next to a big network of walking paths, for those that want a run or walk.

Review 102:My room was not clean.

Review 103:I commented that my room was not clean and immediately was given another room. I was impressed that the reception staff dealt with the problem so efficiently.

Review 104:Was only there for 6 hours - sleeping. It wasn't the best place I've stayed in, but certainly not the worst either.

Review 105:Proximity to the airport was excellent. It was clean and comfortable.

Review 106:There really was not nothing that we didn't like. We didn't get a chance to have breakfast as we left really early.

Review 107:Location is excellent if you are traveling. Traveling on the POD to the hotel was a fun and novel idea. Unfortunately, we did not have much time to explore the hotel as we came in late in the evening and left very early the next morning. Although we did not use the parking spaces, I noticed that it was ample.

Review 108:impossible to get parking space. twin room very small as is bathroom - dated . Really cheap soluble coffee in rooms.

Review 109:convenient for t5. good value for money at w/ends. efficient front desk.

Review 110:Good value for money, we enjoyed the breakfast and the view from the breakfast room over the airport was interesting. Staff were polite and quietly efficient

Review 111:Bathroom was very dated and we asked for runway views however this was not acknowledged in our booking not did the reception staff apologise for not fulfilling our request.

Review 112:Price, location and comfortable bed.

Review 113:the hotel / rooms are getting old.

Review 114:size of the room, the situation, finally a free high speed wifi, Best for the Terminal 5, free buses to Terminal 2-3 and 5

Review 115:The room was dirty, the bed was so uncomfortable. Could hear everything in the room next door, even them flicking a switch. The bathroom was dirty. The room smelt.

Review 116:The pod to Heathrow

Review 117:The bathroom was in a desperate need of decorating as the bath was chipped around the bath handles, the grouting was very dirty looking and the paint work needed doing,

Review 118:Location great, wifi very good staff friendly.

Review 119:It was exactly what I expected--a clean, comfortable, no frills place to spend the night before flying out of Heathrow T5. I was through security within twenty minutes of leaving my room. Staff was cheerful and helpful. I ordered a pizza from room service. It was good and reasonably priced.

Review 120:Bathroom very small. Could not close the door because it hit the toilet. Sign on mirror indicates that showering with door closed would set off alarm. Carpet worn. Basically tired old facility.

Review 121:Ease of access to airport.

Review 122:Quiet room, excellent bed, great view over runway action at (excellent) breakfast. Good range of options for quick, light bites if not in mood for sit-down full meal.

Review 123:Facilities are a little bit old, no central heating but has to use air conditioner.

Review 124:Quite convenient place, easy to reach by taking free zone bus 423 from Terminal 5. Helpful staff.

Review 125:lots of noise coming from the corridor, due to doors along the corridor banging everytime they were opened, they were blocked open during the day, would have been nice if they kept them open at night too! breakfast was too expensive so didnt even bother to check it out, cant comment on quality

Review 126:excellent location for easy access to Heathrow T5, with the pods

Review 127:I have stayed here several times,,rooms are either ver hot, or cold,,TV is poor,,rooms furnishings very tired..bar facility not very welcoming, could really do with a major facelift.. Staff are nice, be sure to take your seat in the restaurant before 9.30, or your go hungry....

Review 128:Terminal transfer by POD is simply fantastic,,the main point of staying at this hotel..

Review 129:The length of the corridors. My wife had walking difficulties at the time and we were allocated a room at the far end from the restaurant. I asked if they had the availability of a wheelchair but this was a negative. A lift to the restaurant level would also have been helpful.

Review 130:The convenience of the location. The price ( it was on offer).

Review 131:Poor parking, roaming around and around for ages trying to find parking. Initial room had urine on the toilet seat so not even cleaned properly. Upgraded room offered but grumpily - Staff generally are all very grumpy. Reception not manned properly - had to call so many times for 10 minutes to get through. Normal room is very crammed, has awful and small bed; one normal sized pillow one much smaller one be aware, always take upgraded room if possible if you are a couple sharing a bed. Was told upgraded rooms have water complimentary, there was nothing in the room. Very unorganised. Tiny tv even in upgraded room can hardly see it from the bed

Review 132:Receptionist who checked us out very nice and only staff member who even smiled and greeted. Upgraded room had large and comfy bed, nice sized room and good wifi connection throughout

Review 133:The room was very good with tv,tea/coffee facilities and a 'free' safe deposit box.Breakfast was excellent and eve. meals good. The proximity and transfer links to T5 are superb.

Review 134:I pay on reception and the same time they cut off from my Debit card I don't know when the mony will be back to me

Review 135:nice hotel for short stay taxi charge from the Terminal 5 18pound

Review 136:Staff great. Great access to Heathrow T5 via either bus or pod. Rooms simple, a bit dated but very clean. Food good. Very well located and organised for a Heathrow transit stop. I have stayed here many times over a number of years and each time I stay I notice that bits have been refurbished. It is nice to see that the hotel is progressing.

Review 137:After late arrival unwillingness of staff to assist with luggage after having to walk a fair distance to room. Bag was carried about 30 yards and then room pointed out and bag dropped and staff left me outside to walk to room through car park.

Review 138:Location to terminal 5.
