Reviews for Eryl Mor Hotel
Review 1:Wifi didn't work, we thought breakfast finished at 10, but then rang reception at 9.10 to ask and she said 9 then hung up the phone. Bed was very small for a double. Can hear other people conversations through the walls. Have stayed in better places
Review 2:The view in the morning and the staff who checked us in.
Review 3:As I said I would in a previous review, I used this hotel on my return to Bangor as I really enjoyed it the first time. The whole place is so well maintained and you are in such a great location to wake up and look out at the Menai Straits whilst only being 10 mins away from the High Street it gives you the best of Bangor in one go. The staff are so accommodating whether that is letting me store my luggage for a time before leaving or calling me a taxi they were happy to help.
Review 4:Breakfast served in cold conservatory area in particularly bad weather. (Roof leaking) Tray of cleaning products left on dining table next to where eating breakfast
Review 5:Comfortable room
Review 6:Not a single complaint. Very pleased with every aspect of my stay!
Review 7:Room was very modern, and spotlessly clean. Furniture looked brand new. The only hotel I've ever stayed in that advertised a "Jacuzzi bath" and actually had one! Felt very safe. Lovely view overlooking the pier and the sea. Staff very friendly, and they appreciated that I was tired and just wanted to be left to my own devices. The best hotel I have stayed in during my time living in Wales by miles.
Review 8:My wife is Ceoliac and therefore can't eat gluten, so she can't have fried bread, hash browns or sausages at breakfast, so usually at other hotels we've stayed at they double up on the other things. Not here, she got one rasher of bacon ( cooked on one side), half an egg and a few beans on a small child's plate. We did get toast made with gluten free bread for both of us, I wasn't offered normal toast. Also there was crumbs on the table from the people before us, all around our cutlery, not good for a Ceoliac
Review 9:The bath & the Shower
Review 10:Room was cold.A Raging Xmas party going on until midnight meant wecouldn't sleep or hear the television or ourselves speak. This partythen turned in a huge fight under our window with numerous policeofficers stepping in. Why weren't we informed this party was on aswe had a long journey next day and were exhausted after lack ofsleep??????
Review 11:Family room which we stayed in is next to the function room. During our stay there was a Christmas party taking place which was very noisy and prevented us from sleeping. There are also no lift faclilites which makes things difficult when you have young children and a pushchair.
Review 12:Breakfast one day could have been better.
Review 13:Lovely room overlooking the coast, Anglesey etc. Comfortable bed, heating more than sufficient to make room as warm as we wanted. Helpful staff. Looking at other reviews felt a bit doubtful about quality of rooms - but no complaints from us.
Review 14:1. The bathtub in my room had some fault. One of its option (bubbles I guess) suddenly started on itself waking me up from sleep and I could not sleep afterwards that spoiled my next day. 2. Toilet brush was not clean.
Review 15:Location, cash payment on arrival, large comfortable room with all basic needs and breakfast included. Nice sea view (though not visible from the room I got) Close to railway station and the University
Review 16:We got very wet in the rain.We asked for the heating to be put on .The room took a long time to warm up
Review 17:Location,we had fantastic views of the area. My husband really enjoyed the breakfast.
Review 18:Too few plugs. Nowadays one must charge several devices overnight. Internet wifi did not work properly in the restaurant area.
Review 19:Close to the city center and to the Bangor Pier. Quietness. External appearance.
Review 20:I had to travel to travel to Bangor my son was involved in a major life changing road traffic accident. I booked for two nights & stayed all week. The professionalism of all the staff was absolutely outstanding. I would without doubt recommend using this hotel , & I hope to visit again to speak to Margaret the housekeeper in the Summer of 2016 to give her an update on my son's condition. There are steep steps to the hotel entrance & rooms, the views from the front rooms are outstanding. My family booked three rooms so that they could be near the hospital.
Review 21:Nothing much really; decor slightly faded
Review 22:Position; good reasonably priced food; excellent breakfasts; very comfotable bed; plenty of hot water for shower; good view of Angelsy from room
Review 23:Lack of easy chair in bedroom to relax on, squeaky en suite door, only one teabag provided, no hooks to hang clothes. Dinner service - slow first course. Breakfast menu- no grapefruit/melon tho on menu, tasteless coffee.
Review 24:Location/view, quiet, comfortable bed, sensible hairdryer, wifi
Review 25:The steps were daunting especially at night or when it rained.
Review 26:The view from our room was spectacular. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was fairly good.
Review 27:stairs
Review 28:great views, warm rooms, good food and thanks to Sam for the great service, the night we stayed there was a large function for a 90th birthday. Sam and her nice young workers looked after us.. Thanks
Review 29:nothing. only that there is a few stairs to get into this property, may have trouble with large cases..
Review 30:to wake up with the beautiful views of the pier. the sunday roast was the best, huge servings.
Review 31:Not exactly a bad experience but felt the morning waiting on staff could have smiled a little more and been a bit friendlier.
Review 32:I booked a twin room and got a room with a single and double bed much more comfortable than I expected.
Review 33:The room/bed was not clean. allocated at top floor having very little space, room heater didn't work, window was broken, no lift
Review 34:Location a bit as it it near to the pier
Review 35:Unfortunately there was a large children's birthday party, with adults. After the meal whilst adults talked, the children were playing right outside of our bedroom door making quite a loud noise ,very disruptive. The door into the bedroom area ought to have been shut.
Review 36:I requested a ground floor room and found it very easy and well equipped. The staff were all extremely helpful and the food of a high standard.
Review 37:Told to sit where we liked for breakfast then felt uncomfortable when party of 6 turned up during our meal however there were no tables for 2
Review 38:Staff mostly friendly. Being so close to the sea and to the university was a bonus. Would've loved a sea view room our room was quite dark but. Clean and comfortable.
Review 39:one grumpy older waitress who grumbled when another guest at our table asked for a fresh pot of coffee- ours had been on the table 20 mins
Review 40:fantastic view of Menai Straights from bedroom and dining room
Review 41:Arrived Friday afternoon was not able to make full use of restaurant or bar due to a large function (wake) had to venture further a field not ideal after a 4hour journey but can't be helped. Breakfast not as good as previous reviews seen before booking! Bacon over cooked and hard, cheap sausages was expecting better.
Review 42:Loved the view from room 20. Room was spacious and comfy bathroom adequate if slightly dated but very clean. staff were friendly at reception and bar. Only came for 1 night so husband could do Zipwire on following day. Lovely walk up the pier and into town.
Review 43:The staff could not have been nicer from arrival to the day I left they were more than happy to help. I was a little late arriving and they were very understanding of this and I appreciated this a lot. The location of this property was amazing and I will more than likely use this property again when I return to Bangor.
Review 44:The room was a little dated, but comfortable.
Review 45:Lovely staff and great views from my room! The restaurant had a lovely roast and it was right by the pier.
Review 46:Steps. There are quite a few steps up to reception and to the annex where my room was which were a little steep and would cause someone with walking difficulties a bit of an issue
Review 47:Nice quiet location (October!) Room excellent and all facilities very clean. Has a bar which sells a real ale from a small brewery. Not too far from centre of town
Review 48:The reception bell did not sound in the kitchen therefore no one attended to me until a person in the kitchen came out. The same happened when the next people arrived. The shower door did not seal it resulted in water over the bathroom floor. The hotel is clearly going through a period of refebishment. Once all the bar areas are to the standard of room 11 the hotel will be beautiful. The advert did not make it clear that there are a number of steps outside to the reception.
Review 49:The view was fantastic two large windows which opened fully to enjoy the view. The roast dinner was good. The chocolate brownie was good. The room was pleasantly decorated. The evening and morning staff were friendly and helpful . The deal on booking.com was £48 B&B which is a good price it was more expensive on other internet sites
Review 50:We booked two rooms with sea views and one room overlooked dustbins. Hotel very dated with chipped paint and old showers. Very expensive for facilities compared to other hotels we stayed in.
Review 51:The dinner in the evening was very good. Staff were friendly.
Review 52:The refurbishment which is under-way makes the place look a bit scruffy.
Review 53:The view from the room was great, and the room was good for the price. Breakfast was good and arrived promptly.
Review 54:Bathroom was a bit dated. But it was very clean and everything worked.
Review 55:Location, view, breakfast, did I mention the view? Room was quite nice. The view (worth mentioning a couple of times)
Review 56:Would have been good to know there were many stairs. I had twins and a double buggy!! But every thing else made up for it.
Review 57:the views were stunning from our room. The family room was large and had plenty of space.
Review 58:Bar area was very basic but there was a notice up to say it was being redecorated soon.
Review 59:Excellent location with beautiful views of Bangor Pier and the Menai Strait.
Review 60:The dining door to the patio didn't shut automatically. Some people didn't shut the door behind them. There was a chill northerly breeze blowing straight in.
Review 61:The view from the dining room was excellent. help was offered with my luggage, I am elderly. Food was excellent.
Review 62:The room I was given was very old and stuffy. Hair in the bed and unpleasant smell. Staff serving breakfast are not very welcoming and seem bothered at any request.
Review 63:Location is good, the manager is nice
Review 64:The room was basic and the TV did not work and the room smelt of damp dog the entire time we were there.
Review 65:The breakfast was great and the staff were friendly.
Review 66:The TV reception was very poor and wifi hit and miss. The bathroom very small.
Review 67:Most of the staff were very friendly. The bed was very comfortable and fairly good view from room. The breakfast was very nice.
Review 68:Parking is limited. If you can't park I hotel spots go the pier 50 yards down the road where all day pArking only costs a pound
Review 69:Don't go out to eat- the food and service in the restaurant are fantastic
Review 70:The location overlooking the Menai Straits if you are at the front of the hotel gives you a spectacular view. The décor throughout is a little dated, but the location compensates for this as does the Friday night home cooked curry!
Review 71:A bit of a ghost town, but the hotel can't help that. However the dated decor can be helped. Breakfast was served by someone who looked like she had been press ganged into it, after a night of too many shots.
Review 72:Jacuzzi in the room was fun for the children.
Review 73:Parts of the hotel, especially bathrooms and general decor, could do with updating. One member of the breakfast staff was grumpy.
Review 74:Good quality food including vegetarian options. Friendly and helpful staff on the whole.
Review 75:Not overly impressed with the food. No fruit available for breakfast on last day of stay. Offered grapefruit one morning but it was tinned. Ate evening meal one evening, very greasy. Very tired decor.
Review 76:Great location, some friendly staff.
Review 77:Rooms and fixtures a little dated but for a one night stay fine.
Review 78:Wonderful location friendly and helpful staff excellent food and having the option of an evening meal a bonus.
Review 79:Room 25 top floor with loads of stairs to climb, dirty shower/ roof window not really a sea view, room very hot and could not have open at night because of flies etc/ no fire escape/ pillows had seen better days.Had to screw lamp fitting up properly before we could use it, not good if children around. Only stayed for two nights,if it had been a weeks stay, I would have moved elsewhere.
Review 80:Location/ breakfast
Review 81:My group requested early breakfast at 7am on Sunday where the usual timings were for 8am. The hotel ensured my request was catered for. Thank you very much.
Review 82:Bar area was a little dingy. Hotel room decor needed updating and bed was uncomfortable.
Review 83:Excellent view of pier. Staff were really friendly & helpful.
Review 84:We couldn't get a picture on the tv.
Review 85:The view was brilliant. The bed was comfortable. Lovely views from veranda/conservatory/breakfast room.
Review 86:bathroom perhaps could've been a bit better though in no way affected my stay, just a little dated. Shower was very good !
Review 87:The location was perfect and the room view & facilities were great. Stayed in Room 18 which had a stunning view over the Straits. Can't believe what a great price for a really lovely room in such a great location, 2mins from the pier and with such fantastic views. Would definitely book again.
Review 88:washbasin plug missing, no hot water one morning, shower only produced cold water, bin in bathroom not emptied during the whole of our stay. First night - carvery was that bad we did not eat in hotel any evening
Review 89:Nothing
Review 90:Property in 2 locations, one as pictured on the site, the other one next door where my room was allocated. I have stayed in backpacker motel rooms 100% better than this one.
Review 91:The staff were lovely and our evening meal was fantastic. Breakfast ok.
Review 92:The room decor was dated,I did not like the chair in the room as it was a dour material The bathroom felt cold and needed some maintainence around the shower I did not like the sachet of Alpen placed in a bowl but I think this may be due to food hygiene/health and safety, the butter had been left out for ages so was soft and oily. I asked for tea with my breakfast and it never arrived. It had a care home feel in short
Review 93:The location is really good with fantastic views from the restaurant. I have a back room (9) It was clean
Review 94:The very narrow, awkward stairs to the top floor, from where we enjoyed the view! Finding our way to the hotel through Bangor was tricky: no satnav alas. Then we couldn't park when we did arrive as the limited private parking was full. Driving around the one way system one more time (20 minutes on a hot day), we struck lucky as a space had become available. Not much other parking in the immediate vicinity.
Review 95:We liked the view from the bedroom, room 8, and the conservatory.
Review 96:The breakfast room is rather small and the breakfast window is only a few hours long. So as you can imagine, there was a queue to have breakfast. After requesting a table indoors, rather than in the breakfast conservatory, the moddle aged waitress snapped back at us quite rudely, without any offer of tea or coffee while we waited. 20mins later we were able to sit down to breakfast. The waitress clearly had no time for us as she gave us approx 17seconds to sit down and look at the menu before demanding our order as the kitchen was closing. We ordered a full cooked breakfast which was very good. However our milk was quite old and had also clearly been sitting out for a few hours (it was warm and lumpy). We asked a younger nicer waitress for fresh milk and she was glad to help... only to have the horrible waitress return with the same jug, slamming it on the table saying there was nothing wrong with it as though to say, 'you're clearly not from around here, this is how we serve our milk'. I was pretty much gobsmacked. My girlfriend was fairly annoyed that I didnt complain, but to be honest it really wasn't worth it as we were in a rush. Had we been staying more than one night we would have reported this to the manager. The rooms were clean enough, but there were some hairs in the bed sheets which wasnt very pleasant.
Review 97:Good value in comparison to the rest of the b&bs around. Brilliant views of the straits.
Review 98:slightly out date bedding and furniture
Review 99:the hotel was a minutes walk to the pier and surrounded and a 15 minute drive to the town centre, really clean!
Review 100:Only one rasher of bacon very small breakfast, staff unfriendly, looked like they didn't want to be there.
Review 101:Evening meal exellent. Staff friendly. Nice area would go again.
Review 102:Décor was good but the bed linen was rather tired
Review 103:Wonderful views from the bedroom window. Staff were helpful and breakfast was excellent. A good location to explore the surrounding area.
Review 104:Evening meal for two of us a bit disappointing, our third member enjoyed his different from our meals. The lamb shank was tasteless and very tough, no where near falling off the bone as it should have been.
Review 105:Friendly check in staff. Room I occupied was to a high standard of furnishings and appeared clean. Breakfast was good, but a bit rushed with the serving of.
Review 106:Unfortunately I had a cold shower but that was probably my fault. But the plumbing did seem to upset the room next door. Otherwise the bathroom was fine.
Review 107:The wonderful view from our bedroom window. Enjoyed a lovely roast meal in the evening
Review 108:Having never been to Bangor before I was expecting the typical "Sea side 3 story Georgian hotel conversion". Nothing could have been further from that, the location was quite exclusive and stand alone with views across the estuary. Excellent location, excellent value.
Review 109:I booked a room with a sea view but didnt get it, i was told that they couldnt give a see view room to everyone. If this was the case they shouldnt advertise the rooms as sea view, as this is what attracted me to the hotel. Our room was in the back and corridors didnt look or smell great. Bathroom had recently been refurbished and the stink of white spirt or something was very over powering, you could tell the bathroom was not finished and needed the final work done. Also the staff were not the most friendly, a smile wouldnt have gone a miss.
Review 110:Quite area
Review 111:some steep steps to get to it so if you are disabled may prove difficult
Review 112:The staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was great and lots of it and location good
Review 113:Nothing really, not recommended for elderly or infirm as lots of stairs and no lift.
Review 114:The view waking up and opening the curtains was spectacular over the pier and straights
Review 115:The view from room was amazing. The bed was comfy, the room and bathroom was clean. The people were friendly. We had to leave early so missed the breakfast.
Review 116:Breakfast was covered in oil one morning and the next it was perfect. Room was ever so slightly on the small side. Bar area needs a slight update.
Review 117:Location was in-between lots of places and close enough by to access them easily. Overall very clean and food was good. Wifi had good connection and lots of parking spots to choose from. Good breakfast selection. Worth the money we paid!
Review 118:The downstairs lounge is a pub so can be a little noisy, but even so it quietened down quite quickly given I stayed on a Friday night.
Review 119:Capability of the staff to deal with food allergies. The rooms are large and comfortable with everything you need really. Nice location next to the pier, and Bangor's not big so only 15 min walk to the town centre.
Review 120:The location of the hotel is great. It overlooks the Menai Straits and Bangor pier. It is within half an hours drive of Anglesey, numerous castles and Snowdon. Breakfast was good. We didn't eat there in the evening but the bar was reasonably priced. Although we couldn't park outside the hotel on the night of our arrival, but there was ample parking in the car park by the pier, which was £1 for as long as you liked.
Review 121:Location, friendly welcome and staff that nothing was too much trouble for them. A new chef who provided a varied menu of delicious food. Rooms with a view.
Review 122:A slight musky smell of old i guess.
Review 123:Loved the meals dinner & Brekky, bed was great, very comfortable , room was large and spacious, nice view also.
Review 124:The TV didn't work in my room, if I was lucky to get it to work it would freeze after a couple of minutes. Had a 10 minute battle to lock my door every night too.
Review 125:Beautiful location with stunning views over the menai straits.
Review 126:Wonderful place to stay! Easy access to my daughter at bangor university and stores to walk and trains/buses! Breakfast included was wonderful! Nice clean room. Felt like home away from home! Cozy! Will recommend to anyone!
Review 127:Breakfast is all fried, even the mushrooms were deep fried and oozing oil, toast was cold and the waitress was rude. My tv didn't work either.
Review 128:Right near the pier which was beautiful, room was comfortable and clean. Nice pub and Italian restaurant nearby.
Review 129:- unfriendly staff, especially the young lady serving breakfast. - very hot room; heating broken. I did report the temperature at breakfast and was told that it would be fixed....it was not. - bedding was dirty and unclean. - On the website it stated that there would be toiletries available. All I got was a tiny sachet of shower gel and one soap. - breakfast was basic. - more like a B& B than a hotel. - room was not cleaned; just bed remade.
Review 130:- Great location - Great views - No closing time; staying in annex so could come and go as I pleased.
Review 131:The room v got, room 18,the furnishings that is the wallpaper, carpet and walls needed a modern touch.
Review 132:The view from the hotel room and the staff friendliness, quick response and very helpful.
Review 133:Limited parking On top floor not sure where the fire escape was for us so went to bed with a bit of fear Why is cleanliness neglected
Review 134:locarion Staff were friendly Great view from room
Review 135:When we arrived there was a funny smell from the bathroom and when we looked the toilet hadn't been flushed from the previous people staying in the room. We then found a dirty towel on the bed which led us to believe the room hadn't been cleaned very well or maybe the beds had just been made. The girl at reception was very polite though and got us a clean towel when we asked. If the hotel improved on its cleanliness then it would have been a 7/10 and if the beds where comfortable then 8/10
Review 136:On the whole the staff at this hotel are very friendly and helpful. There was a lot of choice for breakfast and although quite basic it was nicely cooked. The location of the hotel is great, just a 60 second walk to the pier and about 5-10 min walk to the centre of Bangor. Some nice pubs dotted around the local area
Review 137:Rooms were comfortable, warm and clean. My room had a fantastic view of the Menai Straits and Bangor pier. Staff were friendly and polite, dinner was very good too.
