Reviews for Zum Schnogaloch

Review 1:Great proximity to centre ville and train station, friendly and helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms, availability of 3-person bedroom (not common).

Review 2:Wifi didn't work. Steps bit hard to get up with bags but normal for an old hotel.

Review 3:Hotel is in great spot... Right in middle of little village. Good value for the price paid. Bedroom basic but fine for our one night. Bathroom also basic but hot shower.

Review 4:the only minor criticism was that the wifi didn't work in the room, but there was a good connection in the restaurant.

Review 5:Lovely building, a little old but with a lot of charm. Rooms were simple and not overly large, but comfortable. The restaurant was exactly what we were looking for. Delicious, traditional and a great price. Great place to stay if you are looking for something traditional. Excellent value.

Review 6:no telephone in room, 7.50 euro minimum to buy a phone card in the tabac down the street, hotel refused to make a call for me to the next town (30 km), even if I paid them no elevator, steep narrow stairs

Review 7:very picturesque property, Alsacian dinner was excellent, room had a t.v. with several channels

Review 8:The owner was the most friendliest and accommodating person on our travels so far. She went out of her way to make us feel at home. A lovely, lovely person!! The place was a bit hard to find but the owner said she was going to put a big sign on the front of her house to let people know.

Review 9:Wifi is not free, must be paid.

Review 10:Location is very good. Right in the middle of the town. Beautiful old house in local style. Possibility to eat lical food in own restaurant

Review 11:Small room, but that's typical of old style European hotels. Theshared bathroom situation was a bit strange, because there were windowson the doors to the individual toilet and individual shower. Itdidn't feel very private. The mattress was very soft and saggy, butwe slept ok.

Review 12:Incredibly good deal to stay in a historic building from 1619. Staff wasefficient and friendly, spoke at least 3 languages (French, English, andGerman). It was reasonably quiet outside once the bar/restaurantclosed down (by 11:00 P.M.) Extra pillow and blanket was appreciated. For the price it's a great value, but it's not luxurious andthat's ok.

Review 13:Bed less comfortable and facilities less good than a more "normal" modern hotel. Dinner was distinctly average.

Review 14:The charqcter. Amazing building. A real experience. Excellent breakfast.

Review 15:Impossible to close the toilet door when sitting on it! Says parking possible on site - luckily we were on a motorcycle so managed to squeeze in somewhere but other guests could not find anywhere to park. There is a car park about 10 minutes way away but this has to be paid for but was full anyway.

Review 16:Beautiful 17th century building situated on the cobbled streets of Obernai. Very picturesque. Loads of bars and restaurants and pretty streets to walk around.

Review 17:Lot's of stairs, parking can be a little problematic, a little noisy at night, hard to find since street not in our GPS

Review 18:Nice clean family operated hotel in a small town.

Review 19:Small room (think there are bigger ones)

Review 20:Relaxed house, friendly to babies, perfect location

Review 21:The building

Review 22:Very good for such an old property

Review 23:Woman who checked me in was abrupt, unwelcoming and not overly helpful.

Review 24:Perfect location and friendly staff in morning.

Review 25:The bed is awful! Rock hard!

Review 26:Great location friendly staff

Review 27:The bed was terrible, Wi-Fi didn't work

Review 28:Very welcoming good breakfast and very clean

Review 29:Originality

Review 30:The mattress had worn out years ago.

Review 31:Wonderful timbered building in the old town.

Review 32:Medium service to poor. Difficult to park. Poor breakfast Bad madras

Review 33:Central place Ok dinner

Review 34:Bathroom could have been more private - just the curtain is not enough...

Review 35:Good value for money, conveniently situated

Review 36:Rather dour, grudging staff and difficult to find anyone on arrival late afternoon. Rather cheerless, take-it-or-leave-it atmosphere in such a delightful spot, full of old world charm. I speak fluent French and German, so not a language issue. I may just have been unlucky on this one occasion, and my experience may not be typical!

Review 37:Well situated, reasonably priced and quiet for the central location. Good breakfast. Fine for one night.

Review 38:No parking. Three flights of stairs up. Both come from the things I like about the hotel, so I understand. No elevators in 1619 or cars for that matter.

Review 39:Staying in the center of town in a half timbered building built in 1619. A great restaurant downstairs.

Review 40:not a thing

Review 41:Historic building- absolutely beautiful, but that means it can be a bit difficult getting luggage up the stairs, a small price to pay for all that charm. This is our 2nd time staying here and we'll be back- we love this hotel. A total delight. be sure to add the breakfast. We love it here!!!

Review 42:No door to shower/bathroom area and curtain hanging off. Scruffy decoration and poor quality furniture and bedding. Very small room. Not easy to park.

Review 43:The bed's a little hard, but as I've said- this isn't luxury-so who cares.

Review 44:An excellent location and wonderful staff. This isn't luxury, butan historical building in the perfect location in the most beautifulAlsacian town. You descend the stairs to a quaint and very frenchdining room , with a fresh baguette awaiting, and croissants and ofcourse a wonderfully brewed pot of hot, coffee- it just doesn't getany better!

Review 45:A lovely little hotel. Quaint. No frills about it and basic, but comfortable. The shower and bathroom are shared by all, but there is a bidet in each room. The cafe/bar just outside the hotel is nice - great food, good drinks. I would stay here again.

Review 46:Unfortunately one member of staff was unwelcoming and whose attitude was verging on downright rude. Sadly, the worst we have ever encountered!

Review 47:The hotel is a beautiful old building situated in a stunning town centre. The room was clean and reasonably comfortable. The restaurant was very good and service friendly. Good value for money.

Review 48:Info on hotel said parking available in proximity of hotel...there is ..... about 15 pay spaces with 1 and a half hour time limit. Fortunately we know Obernai and there is a large free car park about 10 mins walk away.

Review 49:In a lovely Alsace village. a nice one night stopover.

Review 50:The building itself. Straight out of a fairytale.

Review 51:Internet signal and speed was very low.

Review 52:Excellent location in the centre of the city! Very kind stuff.

Review 53:The bathroom is en suite with a curtain!

Review 54:The hotel is perfect located and a beautyful building... It is old and charming!
